Title: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: AndyL on February 05, 2021, 02:51:37 PM +0000 Season 38 1965F1 – Round 3 – Amateurs - Phillip Island
Phillip Island is off the south coast of Australia, about 90 miles south of Melbourne. It hosted the Australian Grand Prix between 1928 and 1935 on a rectangle of public dirt roads. There wasn't a bridge to the island until 1940, so the cars were ferried across. The permanent Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit was opened in 1956. Unfortunately, the track surface broke up easily and the 6 ton weight limit on the bridge meant that heavy tarmac laying equipment couldn't access the island. The track deteriorated, but a new bridge opened in 1969 and the track was refurbished. It closed again, but was redeveloped in 1988 into what is still in use today. Phillip Island regularly hosts Superbikes and Australian Touring Cars (now called V8 Supercars), but never F1 cars.
There is a fix for occasional online CTD just below the track download on SRMZ (link above) called pi67_1.02. Put the two extracted files from this download into your pi67 folder. I'm looking forward to this one but I've had two CTDs during practice. I've installed Ginetto's "fix" as well so I've got my fingers crossed for later. Anyone else have the same problem?

I'm looking forward to this one but I've had two CTDs during practice. I've installed Ginetto's "fix" as well so I've got my fingers crossed for later. Anyone else have the same problem? Can't offer any real help, but presumably the same 65 mod/carset runs fine elsewhere? I did see the following mention within the Interlagos '70 (interlag) SRMZ download page: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=11607&st=40#entry131845 Quote #59: I have had the same problem with it crashing to the desktop - just this track - shame as I really would like to drive this track! Has anyone else had this problem an solved it. I've tried re-installing several times. - It may sound ridiculous, but ... How many sounds have you marked in the options? I already had CTD problems with some tracks and I was advised to decrease the number of simultaneous sounds (I put 4). Incredibly it worked out in most cases. Worth trying. Can't comment as to whether that is a real thing or not, but maybe this is worth investigating? Cheers, Dave. Incidentally I had no of sounds set to 4. I've dropped that to 3. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: Leo Menegucci on February 09, 2021, 09:41:04 PM +0000 Something is wrong with my 65s. GPL won't even enter the multiplayer page, ctd :'(

I stop races online, I cannot find the problem. Before, I had never freeze. I stop all : firewall, virus, etc... each race, each freeze. I am very disappointed :( Title: Re: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: francesco on February 09, 2021, 10:30:52 PM +0000 Leo Galan not properly a gentleman.

If you are not happy about an incident Francesco, please submit an incident report. However, if you are referring to the incident on Lap 5 (replay time 0h08m52s) which happened just ahead of me, it is not clear cut. Leo needed to rejoin safely but you could have helped by giving him more room. Let the moderators have a proper look at it.Title: Re: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: Phil Thornton on February 09, 2021, 10:56:29 PM +0000 I made that very hard for myself. I was worried there was someone on my inside going into T2 on Lap 1 so I stayed wide. So wide in fact, I put a wheel on the grass and spinning off into the grass I went. What followed was a very hard fight back up to 4th place. A great battle with Paul Villiers (sorry for the tap Paul but we were side by side on the exit of the corner and I was right on the edge of the track) and another with David. I nearly caught Martin at the end, he made a couple of mistakes in the closing stages which enticed me to try a little too hard on the last lap and I spun out. There was nothing to lose, I was far enough ahead of the next car not to lose a place.
Grats to Pete on a win in the BT7! Great driving. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: dave curtis on February 09, 2021, 10:57:48 PM +0000 Server replay available from: here (https://www.sendspace.com/file/onkf6u)

I do not understand why this comment is due. If you refer to the incident on lap 5, I must say that I tried to get back on track without hurting anyone, trying to stay parallel to the outer rope. Unfortunately there was a friction that ended with both cars flying. After the incident, Francesco took to the track in front of me, otherwise I would have let it pass, as appropriate. Likewise, if the form of my re-entry to the track is considered as punishable, I will accept the decision accordingly. While I am new to this league, it does not seem right that my chivalry is being doubted. I apologize for my English, it is very basic and I must use a translator. Greetings and congratulations to the podium. Greetings and congratulations to the podium. I'm sorry you have had a three difficult races, here, at Interlagos and at Killarney. Hopefully your luck will change and you will have some better races very soon. You are obviously a very good driver and in my experience a very fair competitor, having raced closely with you in all three of your recent races (sorry again for the contact at Interlagos), I have no reservations about racing with you. You are very welcome here in this league. I really was not expecting that. I want to use a different car in each round and yesterday was the turn of the BT7. I was happy with the setup and it seemed to be sticking to the tarmac like glue but I didn't think it would be competitive at this track. I'm also enjoying a new PC and I'm now experiencing GPL at a full 60FPS with graphics settings on max. Even the steering feels so much better. Anyway, back to the race. I surprised myself by qualifying third and was even happier to be in P2 for the first couple of laps. With so many Lotus cars around me, I was pretty sure that I would be swarmed all over on the long straight. I did benefit from Eric's spin a few laps in but then it was just see how long until he caught me again. The BT7 kept pulling away and I managed to build up a good cushion; all I had to do was keep concentrating without getting too excited. I'm usually a back-marker so actually getting to lap someone was a brand new experience for me, too. Thanks for keeping out of the way. I'll probably spend the rest of the week watching the replay just to prove to myself that it was real. Thanks for your support. See you in a couple of weeks. A new track to defeat using arms and feet, to tackle it's curvaceous complexity. I'd read somewhere, the fastest way around a corner is to straight line it, but couldn't get a laptime. It took some laps to find the road of least resistance.
After some laps, I found myself hounding the tail of a fellow Ferrari. His high speed, immoveable red object told me, this must be the Canadian frere of Monsieur Prost, For half the race, I'd the ability to draw alongside, but not enough to safely pass, 'The Professor.' 8) Our battle concluded towards the finish, when I selected a boxfull odf neutrals, at a hairpin. Rubber and race fatigue had set in, caused by lying awake at night, worrying about finding a boxfull of neutrals, midstream. None-the-less, great fun on an entertaining track! An apology to Francesco, for causing your detour after my mistake. I've no team radio, or Pribluda to see you are coming. These are not realistic addons, but the mistake was real. The BT7 is a much underrated car IMHO. With a comfortable setup it handles corners with complete indifference and as long as you keep the screamer of an engine in the sweet spot ( using all 6 gears to the max) it will fly. BTW Looking to the future ...........with laptimes like that Pete you will be competing in the Pro races soon ;) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 38 (Spring 2021) 1965 F1 Amateurs - Phillip Island - Feb 9 Post by: francesco on February 10, 2021, 07:52:12 PM +0000 Np Martin, at that point of the race my position was decided.

So the definition side by side collision is inappropriate.
