Some lucky reserve can have my spot for tonight. My game PC is still sitting idle on the floor.

Went to collect my special PSU cable that tried to be delivered whilst I was at work from the post office and they wont give me my recorded delivery cause there are too many parcels for them to cope with.  :cowboy:  :censored:

Have a good one!

Also excellent fun seeing you guys c**k it all up on the pace lap!!

Excellent clean fun racing as usual, thanks all

I'm chuffed with 5th in my second race :) was in 4th at one point right behind Leuven, but a silly mistake put me in the gravel allowing Ruskus and FreQ to pass.

Grats to Rad though, watched the replay, and shame about Jon, miles in front too. And Perdy as well, I feel like a jinx now  ;)

Good races all, really enjoyed it

Wondered where you had gone Jon.
Awesome qualy, good race. 4th Place - wooden medal. Better than a blown engine anyway. :)

Just a note at the start of a warm up lap, I think the green means go when the driver in front goes...not all gogogo!

Cheers for gd racing.  ;D

ahhhhhhhhhhhh Spa.....what a beautiful track....2 wins there this season...SWEET! I just love driving that circuit! :D

Very good battle Jon..i can always count on ou to drive sensibly :D Until.......you fell victim to the best corner in the world...i really felt bad for ya!!! hehehe

Although during our good battle i checked my temps and they were hovering just over 100..so preserved my engine and just cruised to the finish!

Good race again fellas! Thank you!

I had a dinner tonight, so I didn't expect to make it. Lucky for me, there was still 10 minutes of qually left. But with a 3 course meal in my tummy, I could hardly reach over to the wheel ;D. I also had no setup and practice in the 550 at Spa. I just loaded a Huttu setup from GTR1, and off I went :D. I had an awefull Q-time and ended 6th.

My car bottomed out so badly at Eau Rouge (no time to fix that), that I had no exit speed. The top speed was much higher than the Lambo (550:177mph), but that was useless as it came too late. I did a n00by at Les Combes and went off. Going from 6th to 8th ::).
I overtook some cars due to errors, and as was in 6th. Following 2 battling cars. The 575 went off and took out the car following me (thanks...kinda :-\). Then some more spins happened infront of me and all of a sudden I was 3rd :o.

I didn't have the pace to attack new-Shark-Leuven, so I had to settle with 3rd which is more than I could have wished for in the condition I'm in right now. There were more fumes comming out of me than out of the car ;D......Talking about that....be right back.... :nuke:

Grats Rad

Great track to race but bad luck again,in warmup lap ALL the cars disappeared ,did not know what to do went very slowy then after 10 sec they are back and i slam right in a 28cd Ferrari, very strange cause i was behind TT"s Viper, anyway sorry for who ever i hit but could not really help it,then later in the race i blew my engine,in between had some nice fights .

Gutted, was really looking forward to this race as love chucking the beast of a saleen around here. Think i had a top 10 finish in me but alas after just a few laps i got a sideways nudge into the gravel down at Fagnes, cooked the tyres up a bit getting going again and as a result ran a little wide at La source. Gave the tyre wall the slightest of nudges and got a flaming puncture to the front right tyre  :'(  This meant race over as i would have had to crawl the entire lap back to the pits on 3 wheels.

Shame as i was loving that V8 sound in the Ardennes !  :(

Watched some of the race from the pits and it looked great. Congrats to the winner. 8)

Qually wasn't so hot for me starting 8th as I was over a second off my new PB set a few mins earlier ???

The race was quite different as I managed to gain 6 places and finished a hard earned 2nd place.

Had a constant battle from start to almost the finish with various people 8), allthough with about 8 mins to go and Ruskus now in 3rd the front tyres did feel a little bit worse for wear and I was trying to save the poor old V8 from melting by short shifting etc, probably not advisable with Ruskus less than 2 seconds behind. :o but managed to hold on in the end.  ;D

Unlucky Jon  :(
Congrats Radius and the other guys for a great race, not too bad eh Ruskus we still had two podiums. ;)

LMAO I actually clicked on you in the monitor just as you shot up in the air, was so funny. But it happened just as the server rolled over to Race so I assume your airborne antics got it confused, I could see your car upside down jumping around then DQ. Lol bad luck.

As for my race, well I couldnt get anywhere near my PB of a low 2.12 but qualified 18th. A bit of carnage saw me following Truetom for a lap or two until he dissapeared into the blue yonder. Then alone and quite safe but a mistake allowed Martin to catch up and the rest of the race was about staying ahead of him. He fluctuated between 4 secs and 0.8 secs behind as we both made a couple of mistakes. Made my second race fun and was not dissapointed with 11th.

That's consistent with the theory that it's a bad connection which causes crazy grid placement. It's no consolation for you though. :'(

What ISP are you with Gerald?

I'm with Tiscali (it's free for me, the only reason), and I have a suspicion they're rate-shaping the connection, probably to prevent lots of P2P download traffic. Sadly this also means that connections to the lobby or GTR2 servers are also rate-limited. If I port-forward the lobby connection via port 23 for example, I can get the lobby to work nicely. Sadly I can't log into any servers. This happens from about 7:30 until 9:30pm, every single night.

I'm *this* close to swapping ISPs, even if it does mean having to pay for it. Any suggestions for decent broadband ISPs? What's that Sky package like (Easynet as was) ?

good racin' !!!! quali'd fourth and suspected people didn't get there best laps in!

race start i was keeping FredQ in my sights (just) in fourth and was being caught by Leuven, who got past.... shortly afterwards I rode the inside kerb on the second apex of pouhon and spun down the grass (no contact with wall thank god), which was a daft thing to do anyway!!!  ;)

went from 5th to 9th in 10 secs! Closed the small gap to pablo, could have passed him at one point when he had a bad eau rouge exit and i knew he was faster (team orders! lol) so stayed behind....then i spun braking into bus stop at the half-way point and hit wall to burst into flames!!!! i knew i wud have had suspension damage but the fire was a suprise! Wanted to finish, but good racing as ever with you guys!  :)

GRATS to Radius btw!!!!!!! And unlucky Jon  :-[

I saw that Jan and wondered how you had appeared from a couple of cars back to be suddenly shown slamming into another car and the barriers ahead of me....weird  ???  That must have been some warp  :-\

Was amazed at getting my puncture  ???, have had much worse contacts with a barrier than that gentle brush and not suffered any tyre damage.

I've just ran a couple of tests on my BT broadband (8mb) http://www.speedtest.net/

If you want to test it, as it tests things like ping, upload or download etc....unless you have already? :)

My test results are:
                      Location - Ping  - Download - Upload
Test-1             Derby     - 48ms - 5011kbps - 382kbps
Test-2             Munich    - 55ms - 6972kbps - 380kbps

Hope this is helpfull even though you're now getting broadband as it could help find out what was/is causing the problem. :)

no worries sh1t happens Jan, did kind of wreck my race cause once i rejoined track i had lost 3 places, 2 cars in front left a big gap so i thought they were letting me back through (i know u arent suppose to do that....) so i went past those 2 cars, then some1 on ventrilo said not to do it, but the cars that i overtook were too far bag to let them retake, when the race started my intention was to let them pass but as i looked back to see where they were at en rogue i ran wide, although i didnt crash i lost even more places. Ran a good pace after than untill 4 laps to go ran wide again at en rogue and brushed the guard which got me a puncture, spa's a long lap with a puncture! got repairs and chucked on some softs for last few laps

Yeah I had varying results but I suppose there are lots of variables and things that have an affect when downloading/uploading a file (like mice chewing on the underground cables ;) ), also if it was consistently the same speed wouldn't that indicate the speeds as being capped?
not that I'm taking its results as 100% reliable  ;D.

Oh dear...

I was on that site all day, periodically doing tests, and I could see the latency going up, and the bandwidth going down.. This was one of the worst:

(http://www.speedtest.net/result/64256512.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)

Since the GTR2 lobby server's hosted in Germany somewhere, I figured that would be representative..

So, I restate - can anyone recommend a good ISP? :)

At least your connections not being rate-shaped so you can't connect to the lobby!  :-[

I cant recall the outcome of your problems so I just wondered if your new broadband solved the problems Gerald?

Sorry to keep bumping this old topic ;)

But I sort-of fixed my broadband problem, or at the very least it's being sorted. Apparently Tiscali have 'fessed up to a problem with some of their IPStream connections being lousy with games. They're allowing some folk a free migration to Datastream, which apparently fixes it. So, I have asked for that myself.

However, in the meantime, I've discovered that if I sit in the upstairs room, and dangle a USB wireless access point out of the Velux window, I can get a connection to the pub next door's wireless network :D Managed to get online on Wednesday night without too much trouble, apart from having to move everything up to the loft room and sitting at an awkwardly shaped desk ;)

I was with Tiscali and had endless amount of problems with high pings and the ISP dropping out. I even tried to upgrade to 8 meg with Tiscali, to which they told me my line couldn't take it  ???(some call centre in India)

I made 1 call to Sky Broadband, a netgear router turned up in a few days and few days after that I was back up and running with a 8 meg connection and I have to say I have had no problems what so ever since   and their call centre is in GB

Hehe, nice one! A friend lived over the road from a computer spares place and had free wireless 10Mb broadband for years! I've a couple of wireless networks myself to use if mine goes down in the house, although it's puzzling as I'm surrounded by old ladies for neighbours ??? :D

Can just imagine the regular punters at the pub loving that. I'd have an audience! Can you imagine:

"Go left there mate"
"Yeah, thanks"

"Ooooh, he cut you up, can't you fire some missiles?"
"Er, no, it's a hardcore simulation, not a shoot 'em-up!"
"A whut?"

"Can't you turn that thing down! I've got a headache!"
"That's because you've been drinking paint stripper. Your beer's still at the bar!"
