Time of Day Setting: 14:00

Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: NO

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Just a suggestion Tony, I don't think anyone is going to drive the Elite as it is too slow compared to the other three cars, so how about making it compulsory to drive the Elite in one of the races (if a driver does all 3 of course).

I've given this some thought and I have decided to leave as is.

But thank you for the suggestion.

Maybe one of the next races will be Elite only race, after rounds 3, 4 and 5? I don't think it is a good idea one car to be ignored by anyone.

I have decided that I will not be driving the Elan in these races as we have driven it in the last 2 races & it is by far the quickest car of these 4.

Spring
Spring is here and as some may remember then we’re off to the coast for some time. No simracing there but long walks and deep philosophical thoughts staring (or gazing rather) at the endless waves. One tends to sink into poetic moods which is fine as long as they aren’t shared with the World. Don’t we all know people who do and can’t be stopped expressing them?
Whenever we’re around the house I’ll pop up to shine at the race start and disappear into
my usual anonymous position after the first five turns.
Would appreciate it if someone could inform Lasse too at the next ETCC meeting. That will prevent me from littering the forum with two identical posts.
Have fun on track all and hope to see you all in due time.
Cheers, Dan

I'll join in on that, no worries. So that means the next 3 races will be one of the other 3 in turn.....

Really? I missed that then, sorry.

Edit: It wasn't active on the server so if you tried to join with the 100 you would have been booted.

Can Robby82 fill in his driver profile to state Country then he'll get a little flag next to his name.

Originally intended to use the Elite, but after realizing that I was online even slower than offline
(about 1.5 seconds and about 4 seconds slower than Dimitar  ???) I did a last minute switch to the AH3000.
Time was too short for adjustments and after only one "competitive" lap in quali I got problems in the
early stages of the race already and I had to quit due to a damaged suspension.  :P

Really dislike this track; those agonizingly slow and seemingly never ending hairpins are pure torture.  Picking a car presented a bit of a dilemma - with the self imposed Elan-ban by the aliens, they made anyone else contemplating using it look bad.  Picking something else would put me behind them as usual - unless they all showed up in Lotus Elites, but that would be a bit optimistic to hope for!  If the remainder of the field used Elans however, then I could potentially be last  :o   Thus kept the Elan ready until I had sized up the opposition, but preferred the Alpine.

Start went ok, but it was quickly clear that Matt was a real threat in his Healey.  After some close opening laps, he got a little out of shape entering the back straight, losing about 4 secs. Thought it would be a small breather, but was alarmed over the rate at which he was catching up again. It was clear that to keep my position, I would have to live up to my very best.  By setting new personal fastest laps - each lap - I could just about maintain the gap. That wasn't easy..  :o  Only towards the very end did the gap stretch a little, when his tyres went off faster than mine.

Grats to Geoffers on the win & Daz for the podium - and thanks to Matt for keeping me honest the entire race  8)

Did myself no favours here by practising on the full layout, whoops....

Then, could get nowhere near the stellar laps Geoffers was doing in quali, the gap was a rather worrying 1.6 seconds I think . However, I did some late tweaks that made the car corner rather better, and changed the gearing down so it was a little sharper around the lap, just didn't get to set a time. It still would have been a good bit off the pace Geoffers was setting though :thumbup1:.

Got a good jump off the line, but by the time turn 1 was hoving into braking point time, I was already off the tail of Geoffers, and being caught rapidly by Erling. This raised my suspicion level a little higher, and try as I might I just could do nothing about Geoffers and he streaked away. I am sorry if it ended up a little boring out there Geoff......Realised very quickly that 2nd was the best I could do, so just brought it home after trying too hard a couple of times and spinning.

Now, at the end of the race I had a look in the controls screen, and sure enough the brake was showing as dragging a small amount, bad enough to begin with, but also the throttle was not giving 100% either, more like 95. Jumped out of the game, made some adjustments, then went back in. Checked in controls, all now good it seemed, so jumped on and did a few laps to check. That seems to have done the trick, as the laptime was suddenly very different, so should be OK going forward. A bit frustrating, but that's racing right.... :hammer: :thumbup2:

Believe it or not, I didn't think I got the best out of the Alpine, I'm sure a bit more setup work would net another 0.5s. The car would initially turn well but understeer mid-corner, but I could not find a way to improve the mid-corner grip without making the car oversteery on both corner entry & exit, so had to put up with it.

So I was really not expecting to be so fast & it was one of those races where you just reel off the laps & have no excitement. Happy to win but it's more enjoyable if there is a battle.

Congrats to Daz & Erling on the podium.
