Cars allowed: BMW M1 Gr.5 (pm WT for download link). This is not the Procar so you will need this download if you don't already have this carset.

Race restrictions: Any driver who cannot achieve a minimum lap time of 1:26.0 in qualification setup should not enter these events.

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 (36 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not Required

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

In all my years of sim racing I have never, ever, witnessed one driver messaging in-race for another driver to retire.

For me it left a very bad taste in my mouth and is not something I ever want to see again.

UKGTL is committed to supporting drivers of all ages and abilities to enjoy sim racing.

Any driver who does not share my view is invited to race elsewhere.

Yep, it leaved a bad taste to go on in the race to me too. I imagine the situation, I was involved in one of them last TC race, but I think the problems have to be solved out of the track or giving some suggests before the start of the race.

Can't comment, as either I missed it or it happened after I had left, but does not sound like something we want to hear at UKGTL.

Nothing much to say about my race other than apologise to Daz. Caught a bit too much kerb at Jukskei & spun the car, it slid along the left hand barrier out of the way but decided to veer back onto the track just as Daz was passing. Unfortunately it damaged his car much more than mine. I think Erling got involved too so apologies to him too.

Congrats to the podium guys, far faster than I could manage in this car, even with Hristo's setup.

I felt sorry for Robby after he left the server because i know how much desire he has to be part of UKGTL. He is giving everything to be better every day and even though there is still a lot to learn he is not someone who doesn't care.

On the other side Hristo is a great guy as well and amazing driver. I am sure he didn't wrote on the chat because he thinks he is special or because he don't like slower drivers. I am sure he only wanted more safer battle for the win.

I think we just need to put this into caution and not allow it to lose drivers because of the incident.

The race was awesome. At the last moment i decided to take a look at Hristo's setup and i stole his camber and toe in settings  and i become very fast. I had the chance to fight with Manfred and Hristo now.

On the qualy i was very lucky to be just behind Daz on the last corner exit on my fastest lap and thanks to his slip stream i won 2 tenths that were enough to outqualify Manfred for P2.

On the start i reacted quicker than Hristo and took the lead. We had great battle for around 10-15 laps but i made a small mistake and he was able to dive in for the lead. After that i was just slower that him in P2 and then i forgot to downshift to 2nd and did that in the middle of teh corner which reacted to semi slip. Fortunately i catch the car but lost 5 seconds and the second place to Manfred.

To be fair i was the 3rd fastest car on the track so there is nothing to complain about here.

Grats to Hristo and Manfred.

I was curious to see what the fuss was about, so I went through the whole replay, and the only thing that I could
point a finger at Robbie for was the start where he lost it after a good get away. Clive might have an opinion on that one  ::)
but that's his choice.  The only other contact was when Tony hit him after Robbie had sat off track for a long time waiting
for the leaders to pass before rejoining, he could not have done better than that IMHO. Geoff had to go wide at one point
but even that was hardly a major incident. I could not find any time that anyone actually got in the way, or hindered
the leaders when they lapped anyone. I was lapped twice after throwing myself at the barriers, but I'm not aware
that I interfered with anyone else's race.

Being slower than others, and falling off is not a crime here. If it was I would be unwelcome.
Hristo is entitled to his opinion of other drivers, but we ask that people refrain from chat during qual
and during the race anyway, and such comments are not appropriate at best.
Just my feeling.

As my name has been quoted, I might as well throw in my 10 cents worth  ::).
Before I say anything, my pace in these cars was never going to bother anyone.

Yes, I was "inconvenienced" at the start of the race as a blue car ( which I now know was Robbie ) burst through the gap and clipped my front end sending me into the armco on the right hand side. Initially I was just miffed that I had made a "safe" start, without screwing sideways like I had in many recent races, and still ended up nose first in the barriers  :-\. But that is part and parcel of racing I guess.

Sadly the rather heavy impact with the armco deranged something important in the braking/steering department which became more and more of a problem as I pushed to try and catch the field.
Once the tyres began to wear the handling became more random whenever I tried to catch the cars ahead, eventually I became a hazard to the fast guys who were now lapping my car....so I quit. The coincidence that I had totally lost control of the car and launched myself up a grass bank had nothing to do with that decision.

As regards messages during the race...and especially last night's

I fully commiserate with drivers who have their racing interrupted by members with minimal experience. When you are in the heat of battle and every tenth matters, having to negotiate someone who is seriously struggling to control their car whilst someone else is climbing all over your tailpipes can be very stressful, and things are said/posted in the heat of the moment.
However......I firmly believe that we all have to learn how to race online and it is not an easy transition from racing AI on your own PC to competing against fire breathing aliens on a server. It takes a while to comprehend how they can be sooo fast!!

My own debut on line with GPL was woeful ( some say I have barely improved over the last 15 years!) and I almost succeeded in taking out both the leader and second place driver at Mosport in a single move.

It is rather clear to all of us that Robbie is struggling to get to grips with the pace of GTL online ( I know how that feels) , so perhaps what we should be doing is offering some advice/tutoring/mentoring on the server prior to the upcoming events?. Having watched Robbie I would suggest that he is simply trying too hard and ambition is exceeding current ability, but all of that will improve in time.

... against fire breathing aliens ...

  ;D

When looking back on more than ten years of online racing, I have to admit that i have not made very much progress  :(
My best season in fact was my first one over at GTLDK.
What I've learned as one of the regular backmarkers - also from countless visits as a spectator at the Nordschleife where
laptimes vary between 8 and over 11 minutes per lap in the different classes - is to look more in the rear mirror than on the track.
But that did not prevent from only a few disconcerting incidents over the years.

Still glad to be able drive here.
