Title: UKAC Season 17 - Watkins Glen - Apr 14
Post by: FullMetalGasket on April 10, 2021, 10:25:34 AM +0100
This week we'll be testing the 'proper' 60's Watkins Glen from Sergio Loro, Lilksi's Watkins is excellent and already tested but this one is period correct (I.e. bumpy and dangerous!)

What better 60's beasty to take for a spin here than the Cobra 8)

This car wants to go sideways even on the straights :).

Yup ;D
The 427 was famous for being able to spin the wheels in any gear at almost any speed when it was released 8)

They'll still a handful even with modern tires

Results are up - Those of you who didn't turn up really missed out.
These cars were so alive here, drifting the way up the esses at the start of the lap was an awesome experience everytime you got it right.

Drifting the hairpin on the other hand is not something I'd recommend after hitting the same haybale twice in the race, about 20 minutes apart ::)

Nevermind, it was an absolute blast just keeping these on the road 8)

I've somehow managed to delete all the Cobras from my install or would have made it last night. Hopefully be there next week.

Yeah, this combo was something :)
Shame about t-bonning Stefan's spininig car after a few laps. I wasn't that much slower than Fabri in the race. After the stop to fix suspension I came out some 7 seconds behind Fabri (a lap down) and finished about 15 behind. I'd say I made a mistake on the last corner on half the laps, losing close to a second every time.

I'm not a fan of American V8s, but the track is great!
