Season 38 – 1967 F1 WORKS – Round 8 – Mount Panorama (Bathurst)

For the 8th race in the 1967 Grand Prix Works series,  we visit Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst a motor racing track located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.
It is best known as the home of the Bathurst 12 Hour motor race, held each February, and the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October.
The track is 6.213 km (4 mi) long, and is technically a street circuit, as the circuit is a public road when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit.
The track is an unusual design by modern standards, with a 174-metre (570-foot) vertical difference between its highest and lowest points, and grades as steep as 1:6.13. From the start-finish line, the track can be viewed in three sections; the short pit straight and then a tight left turn into the long, steep Mountain straight; the tight, narrow section across the top of the mountain itself; and then the long, downhill section of Conrod Straight, and the turn back onto pit straight to complete the lap.

Handicapping
This serie is a joint championship with GPL Brazil so, please, read carefully these new and specific rules :

Drivers will have a FREE CHOICE of chassis however, a bonus of 50 championship points will awarded to each driver that uses all 7 chassis.

To qualify for bonus points, each chassis should be used at least once and no chassis can be used more than twice."

A bonus point will be awarded for pole position.

A bonus point will be awarded for the fastest lap.

Any driver who uses the same chassis more than twice will not be awarded any bonus points.

A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient.

It is not necessary to use 7 different chassis for the first 7 races.
However at the end of the season, all 7 chassis must have been used to qualify for the bonus points.

Points will be allocated from 1st to 12th as follows: 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Drivers must complete 75% race distance to score.
All rounds count towards the driver's championship.

For each race, only the top two drivers from each team count towards team championship.
All rounds count towards team championship.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents do carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Late arrival to this Series, unable to join Ukgpl_10.  I would guess  it is running at 60fps, and race notice reads - 60fpsV2newmod.  Unmodified Panorama track.  Recently ran successfully Online at 36fps with this carset.  :-\

Have to miss this Race. I am in hospital, the doctors say that it looks like the cancer came back. Good Luck to you!

I've just had to reinstall my 1967 carset.  Request from the doctors something similar - tell them you want an Andreas upgrade! :)

I did a few practice laps just now then took a quick break. When I went back in to Igor, I could click to join one of the servers, but beyond that all I get is a black screen. Tried running GPL on my own PC - same result. Any ideas what's gone wrong?

Just in case it helps, there was something on SRMZ about CTD but that's not what happens to me - just stays on black screen. That post talked about asked about sound files but I have lots in my sounds folder, including sound.dat

Colin have you tried to start via GEM+, to get a new gplc67.exe?

I had not tried that until now... but getting same black screen.....

I have backed up my entire Sierra folder, is there any one part that i need to drop in, or just replace the whole folder? I'm copying in the full GPL folder as we speak, just renamed the 'faulty' one for now...

   Server with restiction fps???? again?

For me the server is available via iGor, but I just get a timeout in GPL itself, did the server crash?

Disconnection at the end of the tests and impossible to reach the server when there was still 2 minutes left.

I got dumped out with about 5 minutes left. After several tries I managed to connect during extra time in q. But about 5-6 people didn't manage to get back in. Then got taken out by a spinning Eagle at T1.
I think the race should be rerun. A third of the field missed the start due to technical problems.

whith about 10mn to the end of qualifs I 'v been disco and after it was impossible to connect .....pffff !

The spinning Eagle was me... Back end came round in the weirdest of ways, can't explain the cars behaviour in that case. :/
Rejoined the server with 5 seconds to go before the session ststus went to session completed, then I asked in chat if the server should be restarted because many people couldn't get back in, and as a result of being busy with chatting, I left my setup as it was with qualifying fuel for only 4 laps in the tank, which I only realized at the end of lap 2. Quite the event to forget. :(
If an admin is reading this right now, is it possible to recreate the grid now with the drivers joining the server in the order in which they qualified? If not, I think the race should be rerun as aforementioned.

It seems that technology stuck a large spanner into the server  :-\

Like many others I was dumped back to desktop with only a few minutes of quali remaining. I had joined by IP and a couple of attempts indicated that the previous settings were not working. It transpired that the IP had changed  :o ( I have never seen that before!!). Copied in the new IP and was just in time for the start, just 23 secs left in quali.

Got as far as T1 and Lasse's spinning Eagle clipped me and  ended up facing the wrong way  :-\. Tried to turn around but the fence had been covered in superglue and I could not break free.

I too had joined by IP, and was not as... eagle eyed as Clive (sorry for the pun!) to see that the IP had changed, so banged my head against the same credentials until I was sure that the race would have started without me!

Looks like Baab managed to get back into the race, but just like Hockenheim, it's all in vain, as we'll need to rerun...

Do we know why all these issues are happening, someone mentioned a Windows up(down)grade might be causing it??

The fence got me too :) I think I found a few more sticky places around the track, best not to touch anything.

I was booted with about 5 minutes to go. I tried many times to reconnect. I turned my head for 20-30 seconds and saw many others had tried or succeeded in reconnecting. I tried again only to get the server is not accepting connections message.

Sorry, I've no idea about a changing IP? IMO impossible...

I have no fixed IP so you will allways have to look for the IP at igor.

BUT

YES there was a weird moment ~ 6-7 min Q to go, when my client screen went black for 2 sec... maybe a net hickup?

But also possible someone joined with 36fps via IP!!!

Very sorry to hear your news. Hopefully you will make a swift recovery.

I got the same and a "Not valid state" on practice status then got booted. Then joined Igor chat and after a couple of try I rejoined at the end of Q. I think that it's the first time that happened to me in 22 years.
We already have a rerun at Hockenheim, if we decide to withdraw this race I have no problem.

I also had trouble reconnecting.

In the end i was also not able to qualify and calculate fuel.
I did not put enough fuel in the car. for a save finish i would have taken 12 more  liters with me.
So i lost 2 places in the end. if you decide to rerun, its ok.

I do host several races per week ...

This 67 Works grid seems to have some special problems
- there are people joining and chatting that are not authorised to this series. Why do they have our PW?
- lots of driver use IP joining. Why? It's only necessary if you have a problematic gpl install...
- my server is suspected to be to blame for the disaster


so I hereby withdraw my offer to host this series

It may be a GPL server can only handle 2 continents worth of drivers. 3 continents may be too much. Your server has been fine on Wednesdays and Fridays but it's not been kind to me on Sunday.  I would expect me to be dropped before most others since the only drivers further from the server than me would be the South Americans.

It's a shame you withdraw your offer. It may have nothing to do with your server.

Axel I hope my comments wasn't the cause. I'm an IT man since '78 and what I wrote was only to help to find what happened. I hosted for many years UKGPL on T7 servers and I know what it means, and I thank you a lot for your server support and frequently technician help on forum.  :notworthy:

I am confused myself and think maybe for this joint venture races the server should be more centralized in the UK...

I looked into my server replay - when I did my last practice laps I found several glitches as if the server is attacked,
there are "warps" of me that are not possible as I can't warp sitting 5m to the server.

Biggest warp was about 2sec long when I was in those uphill esses and I stuck in tirewall...

Seems nothing to do with countries as Joao won, in Hockenheim race most germans discoed and in this race all germans stayed on server...

From my second residence i join via ip (not yesterday) because igor is broken,
reinstall did not help and i miss the time to completly drop & reinstall the system.

I joined by IP last night only because of the issues I had an hour before the race which appeared to be at my end, because I couldn't play GPL locally or on the server. I was unable to join via Igor as I usually do. I validated that I had the right settings (60fps etc) with Baab before joining. I got several laps in before I was thrown out, so I hope that means I was not the problem. I plan to try and work out how to make things work as normal this week, and that means that I probably won't even try to enter the 65 race tomorrow.

If someone is sharing the PW that's pretty poor show, it is inconsiderate and makes it difficult for everyone, never mind poor Axel who is taking all the pressure. I had not noticed unauthorised people joining the chat -s there any chances that they are the same people 'attacking' the server, or just messing things up by their very presence? Could we try something like not posting the race PW in the thread, and giving it out in iGor at race time?

I can't imagine it's much fun for you Axel, but we are very grateful for all the support you have given the series. I hope we can work things out.

I found the culprit in my routers log:

Yes the providers connection was interrupted for some seconds and the IP changed.

But how was it possible that some drivers did not disco? Or was it only me? My server did not stop working and kept the data
