This is a test race to try out a new car for potential future series, this particular one (Skoda Octavia Cup) has been recommended by KDiesel.

Server is up and running - please note it is setup with the extended layout, we will be using the 'Classic' version for the race on Sunday. I will amend the server tonight

It appears this car does not have a clutch as it has DSG gearbox, so any tips on the best way to get it off the start. Does it have launch control?

Revs up and put it in gear when it's time to launch, I gotta do that every time with 2 pedal system. Haven't even try that car yet tho...

Had a few laps in the skoda and although I usually hate fwd in sims this one doesn't handle that bad at all. That said, I certainly wouldn't want to do a season with it but hope to join you Sunday.

How about trying rFactor 2 here? The base game is cheap enough if you don't already have it and some of the free mods are fantastic. For instance, Enduracers mod includes GTE, GTC, P2 and P3 classes which drive far better than anything AC or Raceroom has to offer. I can't find another league that's regularly racing it either unlike AC, ACC, Raceroom.

I would be happy to do RF2, I initially steered clear of RF2 as I hated RF1, but I have done some of the Tuesday RF2 races at SRO and liked the sim a lot (the default FFB is very nice). I will ask Picnic if it is possible for us to run an RF2 server.

I have no idea what an RF2 server entails, I'll try and have a butchers over the weekend.

Rf2 looks horrible... I think Steam records me as driving it for 0.5h Even AC is better than Rfactor.

It's been on and off (mostly off) my HD since I bought it at release. Recently I decided to give it a proper run and I must admit it took me ages of trial and error to tweak it to where I'm now happy. Visuals are now at least as good as AC and I find driving immersion is now far superior. I have to pick and choose my way through content but for GT/sports cars both modern and historic there's enough to keep me happy. Some great classic open wheel content too.

If there's any interest I'll put a quick settings guide up.

I might try to join the party guys, if you're ok with that. I usually never run modern cars, but once isn't custom.. I never did a rolling start, hope I won't be a troll on the track.  :-X

Standing start works better, It's only 20 min race....and these are quite slow cars, I don't think that anything serious can happen.

Even with smaller grid these cars seems to offer close racing, maybe longer races with optional pitstop will work also.

Agree that these cars do seem to produce close racing with little difference in lap time between drivers, so that is a good thing. I did find them a little strange to drive & I have to say not that enjoyable, a bit sluggish & unresponsive. I think though that with some messing with the setup they could be improved. A grid of 12-15 of these could well be quite exciting but I can see that some people will instantly dislike them.

Congrats to Sol & GT on their wins.

Some nice close racing last night but really didn't enjoy these Skodas. I kept thinking taxi driver rather than racing driver  ::) Well done for trying some different ideas but this one isn't for me.

Well I enjoyed racing these cars, they are similar to the TCR's but a bit less potent. They will definitely be on the shortlist for the next Sunday night series. The next test race in a fortnights time will be the Praga

These cars are made for close racing indeed.

I guess you guys laughed on me when I started like a fool,  ;D completely forgot about that rolling start thing. Then it seems even after I realised my mistake I didn't lead it the right way, looking at the way it was done in the 2nd race. Sorry for that.

I was quite worried about fuel at the end of the race so saved more and more of it in the last couple laps.

Then in 2nd race I moved my car a bit due to my ineptitude with modern cars, got a drivethrough penalty. Thankfully the leader was giving me some time while doing, so I could start the race without being half a lap behind, thanks. My driving was quite bad in that 2nd race though.

Thanks for racing !

As I mentioned rFactor 2 Enduracers mod earlier in this thread just to let those know who might be interested, SRO league are racing this starting end of June. Good news is it's on Tuesdays so doesn't clash with anything here  :thumbup1:
