(3) General information on the ladder can be found on the series home page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=25).
(4) The season will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.3 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=27).

Gah, I always forget to put that in the Subject. You'd think by now SimpleMachines would've fixed that missing link in SMF! ::)

I tried a quick race with this new track. I have version 1.1 and when I tried to load the track the game immediatley closes. I believe the extracted brandshatchGP folder goes in the gamedata/locations directory for GTL right?

IIRC there are two Brands folders (GP and Indy) inside anotehr Brands folder - it's the last ("top") one which goes in Locations.

I believe the Zip file is a ModMan acrhive - in which case the structure matches GTL's.

Version 1.1 won't do you any good anyway; the race announcement clearly states version 1.0 and that's what's on our downloads page.

Thats not it either. Must be compatability problem with 1.1
However there are othe downloads for versions 2.00 and 1.3 etc. Are those allowed?

What are you gibbering on about? ::) There is only one Brands Hatch on the SRou downloads page as linked to in the race announcement above. You won't be able to join our GTL server with anything else. It's not rocket science, honest! (Though I did know a former rocket scientist once and she was thick!)

What I meant was I cannot get the track to work in single player despite doing what you said about the folders. When ever the track loads, my game closes. However you also said that you only use the version 1.0 GTL but I have 1.1 so I am assuming the track is incompatable with that version. I am aware that I cant race any GTL races on that server as of now.

However some other tracks (not brands hatch) have versions such as 1.3. I only thought there was gtl version 1.0 and 1.1

Add-on tracks have their own version numbers which are completely different to the version number of GTL. Brands Hatch 1.0 as downloadable from the link in the announcement post is perfectly compatible with GTL 1.1 as this is what the server is and what we drivers are all using.

If you have the track as downloaded from the SimRacing.org.uk downloads page and it doesn't work then I can only assume you haven't installed it right.

Sorry I cant make this race. Funnily enough I will be at the Brands Hatch Hilton attending a sales conference.

Dont think they will have GTL on the agenda.

It would be more interesting

There is no registration. The Ladder is all of us and we are all the Ladder. Be afraid. The Ladder knows all, sees all. :alien: :ninja:

Big, fat, hairy waste of time. Less than 10 on the grid, some good racing and then, having dished out one warranted cut warning and two completely ridiculous ones, first the silly sod in the pits refuses to put the board up so I can take my stop and go, then I get another whilst being ultra careful going round to try again, then he lets me take one only to tell me I have to serve another, so around I go again, managed to get through Dingle Dell without a warning, board still says 2, surely that's wrong? Take one, start racing again, now a lap down but at least back between PR and MJ and perhaps with some dicing in prospect, for fun if not position, then the stupid game DQs me. >:( :hammer:

Such a shame because the Healey feels great around Brands GP.

If we don't get at least 16 for  next week's race that's curtains for UKGTL I'm afraid. :surrender: We've got so many more series we could run which will attract a grid bigger than what could be hosted on someone's home server. :-\

Had a pretty good race, mainly with Dave for about half the race and with Pribeiro for a short spell. Each time i caught someone they blinking pitted  ::)...'fraid of the challenge are ya ? hehe ;)  ;D

Alpine felt pretty good around here, it didnt have the horses like the Healey on the straights but could more than hold its own around the back of the circuit.

Was heading for a nice safe 4th place with an 8.6 second lead and only 2 laps remaining, over 5th when i got a little out of shape out of clearways and pulled my bloody DFP off the desk  :o :(...the car immediately did a 360 into the gravel and by the time i could hold the wheel against the desk whilst selecting gear and trying to steer back onto the track i lost about 15 seconds  :'(
Vainly tried to belt after PRibeiro with only 2 laps left but the blinking wheel wouldnt clamp back down and had to lean against it whilst racing until the finish line. Gutted.  :(

Turn out was pretty dire..only 8 of us  :( but it is still holiday week for alot of peeps so hope more show next week. Amazing how numbers have declined from only a few months ago when we had sell out races.  :-\

Well done Baracus on his win  8) and bad luck to DG and Radius for their cross country stop and go's  :-X

ARGH I didnt go cross country lol...ok only once!!!

..and 2 cuts at that crazy corner..miles away from the grass even. So there went 4th place...stangely enough my pit board showed i had 2 s/g's ???? but i only recieved one so ignored the other and dared the game to DQ me :D which it didnt :D

Grats to B...good drive dude!!!

Pretty boring race till the end when Pero went off at clearways and i passed him for second... didnt realise there was only 2 laps to go and made lost the rear end going into Hawthorns when Pero was on the outside and he got the postion back. Grats to Baracus and pero, That quali lap you did Baracus was qualty mate! ;)

3/4 of the race felt like when i drove to the south of Spain.. luckly enough Brands is a great circuit and i didnt fall asleep.

Maybe it would be a good idea to scrap the ladder and have three 6 race championships for the 3 classes..... think people get a bit board as theres nothing really to race for as the chanmpionship just goes on and on.

Oh not again ::) ,no 16 racers next week and we may can the game, marvellous, especially as I can't do the races to give my support because I'm in work. Hope I haven't wasted 3 days redoing my skins for it  ::). What about Dan's suggestion? A structured league instead of the ladder?

I talked to Shark about running short series instead and it is a possibility, but I am absolutely not going to repeat the Formula Armaroli experience and spend lots of time organising races to which hardly anyone turns up when we have more GTR2 races than we know what to do with.

Next week's event is an acid test for the Ladder if not UKGTL itself and if it fails the absolute best you can hope for is a two race a month series in some sort of championship form.

Sounds a very good compromise. I absolutely love this game, by far my favourite driving sim (until the Ferrari Simbin game coumes out that is :)  ), so would be very sad to see it go. Have had some great fun with you guys. You are all such good clean drivers, it really brings this game to life IMO!

Anyway, a massive thanks to Dave for all the time and effort you have put in to organising this and other UKGTL/R races. I really appreciate your efforts, and understand your feelings on not wanting to waste time with small turn-outs. I just hope it was that people were on holiday, not just that they have lost interest in classic motor racing :)

Let's get it on next week, all you hundreds of people reading this :D  !!!

I do wonder if its the lack of variety that may be hampering turn out numbers  ??? As i mentioned in a GTR2 thread elsewhere, as we are mostly all motor sport enthusiasts, we all have our favourite cars we would like to drive and/or different circuits that bring out the nostalgia in our minds.

Not having a go at all, but some of the limited car choice options just dont inspire enough people to make the effort. Having only 2 cars to choose from is too limiting. If we have a TC65 race why not enable all the TC65's to be chosen, as an example. The more varied the grid the better. If we are going to straightjacket the car choice its not surprising numbers are dwindling, like next week for example, only minis and Jag's to choose from  :(  I dont like either car, though i love the track (Brands), if it was elsewhere i would just think "n'ah pass thanks".
Maybe we should be doing polls to see what car/track combo people want to see in upcoming fixtures....Brands Gp is crying out for a 76 race for starters !

As I said in the other thread, that leads to no actual on-track action as the cars all vary so much in performance.

Please keep general UKGTL discussion in that thread. I'm going to close this one because I doubt there'll be any more discussion about this event in particular.
