I'm trying out the Ferrari 575 tonight (new Team Shark skin). Into the 1:24s in time trial mode in the non ballasted version.

I tried the Massa last night and it handles like a crabbing dog  :(...another great simbin attention to detail then. ::)....or is the real one that bad in real life  ???  Doubt it.

Thought the corvette felt awful here too though but havent got any decent setups for it.

Going to take the Legends 550 for the first time  8)

Wow that's fast! But another carchange, that's another 20% x 0 points deduction :P

Precisely. I have nothing to lose by changing car again.

Because I didn't really have any pre-season time to work out which GT cars I liked I've been using this season as a big test session to see how the different GT cars handle and their general performance so I can have one picked for Season 5 and stick to it.

Allot of ppl been asking me for GT my time with Ballasted cars, but yet they've all been practicing with unballasted versions...why? Simon why?

Because I want GT Rank times.  8)

The ballasted GT cars are not enough different from the unballasted for the setup to be compromised very much by practicing and getting a setup using the unballasted cars.

As that 1:24 is in time-trial mode, I suspect I'll be very happy with 1:25s online and with ballast in qualifying, especially as Donington is likely to be pretty packed with such a short qualifying session.

I think it would be really cool to force peeps to stick with cars for the season, and make the ballast bigger on successful cars. Everyone picks the 550, 575 and Lambo. They need more weight! That or cars which nobody uses need less weight :)
Then we's have a genuine multi-make championship  ;D

other than it would be too restrictive and not quite fair as they bought the game too, i would make all the aliens use the lesser GT cars and only mere mortals like myself be allowed the super kit  :)
Its about the only way to balance out the field  :-\ but i guess putting a lot more ballast in the 550 and Lambo might help, they are in a league of their own so far in the GT class. :(
Even i can set a time 2 secs quicker in the 550 than i can in several other GT's.

I was in first with the C5R at Silverstone before it blew and I did a 1:31.0 with the Aero at Donnington. Two completely different cars from which I drive now (but will drive in S5), but still the times are almost equal.
The balastpack makes the car pretty equal, if you want even closer racing, we shouldn't disengage the pitmiliter and keep driving in a train. 40 Minutes close bumper to bumper racing.

Everyone picks the 550, 575 and Lambo.

Actually that's not entirely true. Of the 100 starting cars used in this season's GT Sprint, only 5 have been F575. That's 1 or 2 a race.

Had a blast of a race. Ran with qually setup and med rears in the race. A decision that came back to haunt me 2 laps from the end when my engine blew. A bit gutted because I was in 2nd but I really should know better. 3rd engine that's gone for me this season :-[ Great battle all the way through with FreQ,Rad and Ruskus. No real chance to overtake and had to wait for an error to get past anyone but it was great racing all the same. Grats to CJ on the race win and nice racing to the rest of ya' ;)

Enjoyed that one ;D, quallied a measly 26 :-\(hardly surprising with all the aliens here). Had numerous little battles :fencing: with guys around me. Great racing lads nice and clean. Clipped navarn  at one corner can't remember which one and let him go in front of me as an apology.

Late on the aliens appeared to lap me and being super polite let cj through and sneakily navarn passed me again also. The for the remainder of the race tried to catch him with out success. Nice enjoyable racing tho.

Well done podium see you all next time.

Man what a race. I was driving at 3rd, following Freq, but unable to try something. Then after a few laps I thought it was necessary to knock over all the cornermarkers after the old hairpin ::), which costed me a few places.

I think I was behind Jimmie and we had a good battle. After I overtook him there was a big gap between me and Radius. But because he, Jon and Freq were all in an epic battle, I could creep up behind. But again, no chance to overtake at this Mickey mouse track ;D. My rear wing was too low, so I was coming out of the corners sideways all the time :D.

With just 1 corner to go Jon blew his engine, so I tried to push him to the finish, but I guess 600+ bhp isn't enough to push two cars and I had to leave a man behind  :-[. How much of a marine am I ;)

Very glad with 4th finish, as it's much more than expected and grats to CJ for the win.

Had a great qually and started slightly further up the grid. From the endurance times I knew my race pace wouldn't be too great but thought I could be consistant if not fast.

It was all going ok, I lost a place to Dan early and then was just trying to stay in touch. Perdy must have had a moment at the final hairpin and we were all suddenly together going down the front straight. Then pops an image of Radius' car right in the middle of the track so I promply lost it trying to go round it. Bit stupid really as it was there the lap before  ;D

Was then being chased by Shark and Marc Mc when had another big moment at Coppice. Gathered it up but their momentum took them straight by. I gained a few places in the next few laps with spinners etc.., Baracus got by me at the end after recovering with his spin but I think i finished 11th so not too bad.

Didn't have any frame rate issues but saw at least of couple of stuck cars and got blue flag warning at the bottom of the craner curves every lap!

See you at the endurance on Sunday. Cheers.

Not on the pace at all tonight. Car was not as fast as Sunday night and handled poorly even though it was same set up. Very strange. Had one big spin off and rejoined well down the field as could not rejoin safely. Very hard to pass anyone with cars so even.

Very clean fair and fast race. congratulations to all.

Found my game to stutter badly at times tonight which it does not normally do. Everytime someone left the game it would stutter especially bad and that never happens. Even during the game it was not smooth like it should be

That was bl**dy hard work. My display locked up during qual. Hope I didn't get in anyone's way, took me a couple seconds to find esc. Had to reboot, got back with a few minutes left and got an OK'ish lap in, but ended up 22nd. The standard was amazingly high with hordes or drivers in the 1:25s or better.

At the start of the race I had a lot of problems with warp and stationary cars, rarely seen it so bad. After a particularly bad stutter I started getting blue flag warnings all over the place, which was very distracting. Made me brake far too early on a couple occasions. I think we should reduce the player limit to 26 again, once a couple people dropped out nearly all of my problems went away.

Had some good battles through the field. Eventually worked my way up into a points position. Madd was catching me at the end, and I was coming around to lap Gerald. He let me past cleanly and I was able to hang on until the line, thx Gerald.  :)

Now that was a close mid grid!  :o  Quali went ok was only 0.2s off my pb, I seem to have reached a plateau with times lately, had scraps with a few people all race, Kerr at the start with Shark close behind then i locked up into Hairpin and dropped a few spots (as per usual :'( )

But then had a major scrap with Aagramn, Enzo and most notably Mark Jonzo, we were separated by less than 3/4 of a second for almost 20 laps (I think?) I nearly lost it a few times but just managed to hang on.

Brilliant clean, close stuff Mark, a real pleasure!  ;D
Must increase my bribe to Gerald next time Aagramn!  ;) But Gerald was most courteous to Mark and myself also.

Great tight field. Had same prob as in endurance event getting grip in the tires fast enough, just when it started to work I went a bit off sideways after clipping the curb on the exit from Old Hairpin, dropped to 2nd then, and now trying to find a way past Freqs Lambo. I could really tell he was on the limit smoking on all corners :D
Managed to get a run outside under Starkeys Bridge and was inside then for McLean and a pass.
Then managed to slowly put some air between us, and with the battle royale going on behind I could keep it to to end.

What a fantastic race  8)...and such little reward  :(  We really need more points allocation with so many top drivers now in the league...us privateers need encouragement against the works teams  ;)

Had a good qually, getting a hard earned 15th, even with a 1:25.6  :o, the places were very tight down to about 20th.

Race start was okay, kept tight as i could on 2 24-7 cars ahead of me, one got out of shape up at Mcleans after a couple of laps and as i tried to sneak up the inside i think he came back across and i went off grass cutting like a hovercraft  ::) Re-joined a few places down and got back into the mix where i got another nudge down at Melbourne? and lost more time and places, ending up about 23rd !  :(
Then chased like a man possessed as knew my setup was good and gradually got past a stack of cars until having an epic battle with Jan Dujis in his Saleen :fencing: , t'was gripping stuff, glued to his rear wing for lap after lap without any contact, just great clean racing. His Saleen was handling amazingly but i felt he was struggling on certain corners and kept the pressure high until forcing him to brake a tad late down at the Foggarty Esses chicane, and i stroked past giving Jan as much berth as possible
I then shot off like a rocket after Madd and caught him after several laps but getting past him was going to be incredibly hard as our cars seemed identically matched on the track and its so hard to overtake here. We had a cracking fight to the finish line for something like 15 minutes (it seemed) :fencing: , thoroughly enjoyed another great and clean fight. I tried all sorts of lines and braking points to get him to make an error but he drove sublimely  :(
Brought the shiny new Legends 550 in at 15th but felt like a top 6 fight the whole race !  8) might have been higher if it wasnt for the early incidents  :-\
Awesome race :thumbup1: Well done to the podium guys

I qualified with what I thought was not bad going for an online lap time in the 1:25s, but I was amazed to see nearly everyone else too doing 1:25s. There was a second covering such a large portion of the grid. Started 18th!

First GT car I've tried properly so far that I've felt pretty comfortable with and so was planning to just take it easy(ish) ;), stay out of trouble and bring it home hopefully with a point or two.

Dunno what the game was thinking but it was a bit chaotic for the first half of the race with stationary cars appearing at random mostly down the craner curves and the start finish straight. Got damned lucky avoiding all of them, but it was pretty ridiculous. The game obviously cannot cope with 28 cars, so either Blimey should fix it or reduce their max limit. We can't run with 28 again.

Not sure I overtook anyone in a proper overtake maneover the whole race and just kept picking up places as people threw their cars off, exploded their engines or in some way came a cropper. Tyres held up nicely and my slightly conservative race setup served me well with a no frills, solid display. Was really chuffed to finished 7th from 18th on the grid, with my first points in the GT Sprint and some team points for Team Shark Junior to boot! (Minus 20% of course - ho hum. LOL).

0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + "real entry" is not hard.  :-*

I reckon the game loved the Team Shark Junior F550 skin so much it wanted to record it lots of times.

Sry Paul that my car was frozen on track...i came across 2 cars as well in the same way....and there was lots of smoke out there, black and white! haha

So i was gonna race the Lister and from praccy i would've been 7th or 8th with it which wasn't bad, but the times and pace were that good up front i couldn't resist not joining in  :D

Rus jokingly called me a wimp but i guess he was scared  ;D ;D ;D ;D ..adn rightly so  :P

So onto the incredible battles for 40 mins with FreQ, JonM, Rus (and Jimmie for a little while  :D) First few laps were tight with drivers being carefull on cold tires and brakes, then FreQ passed CJ but he was re-passed and held myself, and Jon up which felt like forever and not once could i unleash more pace from my car..Rus went off and then caught us up but theres just no place to pass and the driving was way too good.

I mean for 40mins at that speed, 4 drivers racing within 1 sec without touching ONCE is just pure skill and class!!!

So when freQ couldn't handle the pressure, made a slight mistake and Jon ceased it with both arms/wheels :) and as i was closing fast i thought this is my chance i saw a small gap and took it driving on the outside of freQ for two corners..that was great  ;D

One of the best races by far and i thank you!

Was looking forward to this and had the pace for a good top ten I thought. Was experimenting with setups tweaks in qually when I got a phone call from a relative. :(

Grats to the winner, sounded like a great race from the posts here. ( my first chance to race in my skin as well, ho hum)

Everyone enjoyed themselves last night so it seems and i am not the exception ;D Great battle with MJ ,eventually he got passed and i never saw him back again :-\.Like alot of people i changed cars ( seldom do that but the Viper engine is just not reliable enough, blew it the last couple of races whilst reved down 300!!)
Took the Saleen( soundpack :taz: ) ,quite nice to drive but no enough pace(in my hands ;) ) to come in midfield ,will stick with it ,i think it will be fun to drive at Monza .Smartest choice would be the 550,yes i can do 1.25 low with it at Donington but the sound and the dashboard are just terrible :(

This was my first serious league race since I quit driving GPL more than a year ago, and boy did it show  ::)

I didn't purchase GTR2 until last weekend, and never drove GTR1, so I was really throwing myself in at the deep end here. Even had to check that I had unlocked the track before the race because I wasn't sure  ???  :P

Given all of that I was mighty pleased to pick up 8 places during the race. My pace wasn't great so I just tried to drive consistent laps and wait for others to fall off. Someone (Gerald?) spun a Saleen at the chicane in the early laps and I couldn't avoid it, not sure if the car was damaged by the contact or not. Had a good battle with Ossie for most of the race. Got rear ended at one point but positions stayed the same so no real harm done.

Only noticed when I checked the results that my car was fitted with Pirelli tires while all the other 550s were running on Michelins. No doubt this explains the 3 seconds per lap I was losing to the front runners. My pit crew is now scheduled for public execution.  ;D

Regards,

Nev

Michelins are certainly the tyres of choice. I've had a 350Z on Michelins instead of Dunlops in offline testing and it's worth at least a second a lap in the dry.

That cant be entirely true there Davie, although the Dunlops obviously have less grip (u can feel) than the Michellins and Pirellis their wider slip angle make them much easier to drive on the limit...for me at least.

Good that you mention "in the dry" as in wet conditions Dunlops are great in terms of wear rate...again my experience.

Being a sec a lap off pace sounds like an excuse to me!  ;)

That almost sounds like a quote from A.S.S ;D. A few months ago they compared the cars and tyres and they said what Rad just said :D

Whats A.S.S?

That info i read in F1 mag a while ago and it makes perfect sense, tells me the tire model in GTR2 is actually quite good compared to real life data...at least very close id say.

Also i meant to ask Rus..u said u had little wing for 550 last night, how much???...i was running 10  :o and i though those freaking lambos were a bit hard to catch  ;) ...i though mine was at 8 but 10 was too high imo.

I was running at 8, but I also put some other things on oversteer as the F550 feels like a truck at turnin. I was faster on the straights, but I couldn't get out of the corners properly to get an advatage out of that.

I found two usefull things at AutoSimSport:

GTR2 Car-Owner Manual (http://autosimsport.teamssm.net/media/downloads/GTR2CarOwnerManualNAP.zip)

With all the information about all the cars (ideal camber etc.)

Vol 2 Issue 10 (November '06) (http://autosimsport.net/issues/autosimsport_v2i10.zip)

Which contains:
"# GTR2—The Ultimate Guide: SimLeague.net’s guide to selecting the right tyres and cars in GTR2 "

And there was an issue of A.S.S in which Team Shark was mentionend as one of the contenders for the victory of Sim-Challenge, but I can't find it anymore ;D

Man, that was tough there last night.  I used the enduro setup for my viper but somehow it felt like there was less grip with it compared with the enduro event.  Qualified in 20th place  ::)

Race starts with a hectic first lap, I tried to pass Enzo down into the chicane but he was fairly defensive, and i was forced to go down the outside and wait for him to turn in, which kinda buched the cars behind up slightly.  On lap 2 i manage to pass Enzo as he ran wide at T1.  I could then see Simon ahead so i try to up the pace a little,  but so did he lol,  felt like he was in a 550 rather than a 575, super drive m8.  Spent the whole of my race trying to catch him but the gap only ever increased. :-\ :)

Congrats to the podium

What a race that was! I'm a bit late posting as I felt dead after the finish of that one and didn't get the chance at work.
I've never pushed soo hard for a whole race distance. There was no let up at any point as I had first Ruskus, CJ and then Jon for about 20 laps hounding me, pushing for mistakes. It was immense. The driving standard was also exemplary from everyone involved. No touches at all despite 4 cars being covered by a second for most of the race, and the lappees mostly jumped out of the way too. I've never been more grateful for that than this race. Thanks peeps :)

Qualifying and was running where I expected to be when I managed to put in a 25.2, my best ever lap by about 3/10's of a second. I kept going out to try and bring it down and twice was up at split 2 before losing it all in the final section, before stringing it all together on my final lap as the session ended to put in a low 24.7 - 7/10's faster than qualy 2 days before. Was amazed to be in second with the pace everyone was running at and got soo excited I forgot to take my customary toilet break before the race!

Starting behind CJ was nervewracking, I'd seen him clear off in the Enduro so planned to merely get into a rhythm and not overdrive, when him and Ruskus both made identical mistakes at the Old Hairpin on the same lap. From there it was just flat out - I tried to string out the front runners as soon as I was in the lead but the people behind me were all faster and caught me very quickly. CJ got past when I made a mistake round at McLeans, and then John glued himself to my bumper for nigh-on the whole race. Ruskus caught us back up and then it was a 4 car train for half an hour. I was the mobile chicane in this one, but it certainly made for a close race  ;D
John then got past after my mistake at Old Hairpin and Radius put a good move on me round the outside of McLean's AND Coppice. Nice :)
Ran in 4th for the last 3 or 4 laps until John was cruelly denied 2 corners from home. Very noble of Ruskus to attempt a push, no grip on the grass though :(

...trying to find a way past Freqs Lambo. I could really tell he was on the limit smoking on all corners :D...
You have no idea!

So when freQ couldn't handle the pressure
Say's Mr. "I'm going to race the Lister tonight"  ;D

Honestly though, the racing was great, close and clean. It was exhilarating to drive and from the sounds of it, everyone else had close racing. This result felt more earned than the win in enduro, where I was lucky.
I think it was 2050 in the replay when Jon and Rad got past? Anyone want to see close racing - watch that! Also the scene of Radius's awesome pass  8)

Did anyone say YouTube race?  :D
Congrats to all peeps. Won't forget this one in a hurry.

Nb: Hope I'll be able to battle with Kerr @ Monza. I'm gonna need your slipstream mate!

Well my first race with you guys, and i did enjoy it! so thanks!

this is my bogey track, just cant seem to get any pace around here!
i supprised myself with a new pb of 25.8 in qually but that only managed 19th! i must admit i was impressed 10+ cars al within a sec, grats to all on that front!

start race and had to go defensive straight away, sorry to guys behind me but had to wait until tyres warmed up to pick up any pace, i was under pressure for the first 10 laps and couldnt get a rhythm going!

after losing a few places managed to get some sort of pace out the car and coming to just after mid race was starting to get in the groove when my connection died!

I certainley look forward to the next race!  grats to podium

Slipstream. I was was hoping you were going to push me along to be honest?

Don't know where my pace went at all the other night. Car was fast and steady on Sunday night and for the sprint I left it the same as treated it as half of the endurance race. Both set ups for qualifying and race seemed completely different and nowhere near as quick or stable and it affected my times by some margin.

I'm reading the posts regarding people changing over to the f550 for this race only. Is there any way of limiting it's performance a bit? It will blow all other cars away too easily. It's adding about 10mph on the straight over my lambo.

So the obvious question, who is jumping ship over to the 550for this race?
If some are doing so to gain an advantage we all should, but i would prefer to stick to the lambo even thought the 550 did get me a third at silvertone a few weeks back on first outing

Music is always going a be a really subjective thing and someone will always dislike it. Personally I like trance/house style music with racing games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AibaGLpWPI0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AibaGLpWPI0) because of the energy and speed. The text from your song fits well though. It's up to whoever takes the time to make the vid in the end  ;D
You could always be boring and just stick Don't Stop Me Now on it, lol. Blend in with 100 others  ;)

Must haves:
1. Close battles
2. Dan Minton's awesome exploding Kamakazi over Ruskus's bonnet after the line!
3. That stupidly long battle we had.

Yeah, music is really subjecitve, as I'm more a fan of hard rock/heavy metal (Cradle of Filth, Scar Symmetry etc).

Is Dan's action:
"This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name! "

Lol, yeah I was. Didn't have grip on the grass and broken cars have the weight of a house in GTR ;D. Had heavy aero damage when I crossed the finish :D
