(3) General information on the ladder can be found on the series home page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=25).
(4) The season will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.3 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=27).

Important! We need a good turnout for this event, 16+ ideally, to secure a short term future for the Ladder.

As someone who has tried to support GTL since I started online racing in June last year I have driven regularly except for a couple month period when I was ill.

I'd like to raise some observations.

I'm not very good but I hope consistent and usually finish.  I drive GTL cars because I enjoy racing the cars particularly the racing versions of road cars.  This to me is true motor sport, not the current GTR cars many of which only exist for the race track.  (My GTR2 cars of choice are the Chevy C5-R, BMW GTR and the 911 RSR.)

Last night I practiced but did not race as the cars are not ones I drive except for events like last night.
Secondly the track is not one I've race on since Toca 2.  Thirdly the race was a 8.50 start, I prefer an 8.00 start.  The result of all these things meant I was not happy that I could have sufficient control of an Alien car on a strange track and didn't want to compromise other drivers races.

A mini on the Brands Indy Circuit is great, I'll be there bar accidents, the date's in my diary.

Bill

Missed the last race as I was busy with stuff after Christmas, hope to make this one. Not sure whether to go for the Mini or Inspector Morse's car  :D, will have to try them both.

Sorry for leaving the last race - had a series of disco's during practice and quali, finally traced to a bit of malware, but by the time I had fixed it the race was running.

I'll be there for the Indy race!

Well done Sharky, thought the No-grip site would be a useful hunting ground for GTL racers. They regularly fill up their 30 place grids for sunday eves.  8)

If you don't have it you'll have problems with all the skinned cars being invisible (though I think we only have a few skinned Minis). In theory you can work round it by putting 'tags' (vehicle labels) on but it's not really an advisable plan.

Whoever starts the server (Shark? Aagramn?) will have to remember to enable it - we don't normally allow autogears as it normally signifies a driver who is slightly out of control.

Great turn out.  8) And cool track. :)

Shame the minis and Jags are as boring as hell to me, i just couldnt get interested and decided to bin it at midway point as i couldnt face another monotonous half hour. :(
The real minis dont do it for me so unfortunately the sim version definitely wont. I would rather race something that feels like a racing car. Each to their own and all that. ;)

Hope everyone had a good race.

Think I need to do a bit more practice tho. see you all soon for more GTL  fum lets hope. :P

Thanks Simon.

Mixed race for me. Got a couple minor bumps early on (not quite sure what happened), which reminded me what I dislike about GTL. Had some enjoyable battles after that, until 3/4 of the way through I came around to lap PRibeiro's Jag. He warped in front of me, sending my Mini bouncing off. Last part of the race was dull as I had no-one to race against.

Top drive by Baracus to take the win.

:) Not a favourite car but am well chuffed with the turnout we had, got a pb in quali then had a long race with Radius, Dave....damn you again btw, and Stu who passed me without any trouble (no change there I hear you say!).
My tyres were completely cooked by about lap 30 plus I had 2 cut tracks so had to nurse the little monster for the last bit of the race, but having said that it was a nice race and at least the computer didn't play up this time, onwards and upwards! Long live GTL!  :P

PS Are there any other addon tracks that are any good?

That was a laugh. The minis were great fun on such a short circuit. Completely different driving technique required and overtaking was all about momentum. Had some good scraps and only blot was unfortunately Priberios car warping into both MichaelB and myself as we came to lap him. I think the flashing of his lights to let us past was just when he warped, never mind, these things happen.

Great turnout and well done to Baracus on the win and Priberio on the only one foolish brave enough to take the Jag.

Great racing and battles through the duration. Was such fun!

Although the mini and i dont get on very well, i hussled the little bugger as much as i could whilst still being easy on the tires.

1st 6 laps were great adn very fair i must add, but then Dave adn Madd fell away  ;)

Grats to my man B!!

Congrats Baracus ;) great win.
I had a nice fun race with the monster, among the dwarf field ;D
I only wish it was at Monza 10k (good idea: same cars and drivers at Monza) :P
Every exit corner i spun my rear tires as hell ;D
Thanks all for the fair driving, again.

Now, i have to say this again:
When i race, GTL - GTR2 - RACE WTCC, i do an investement of time (not only time) 8)
I really hate, when people leave race, just because a spinning, puncture, or whatever,
my brain only accept a quit when a engine blow/stops, disconnect problem, or low fps,
can happen to anyone ::)
I consider a lack of fairplay and respect for all, because, sometimes we have to do some
arragments and drifts at home (for those who leave in family, with wife and son/daughter)
just because in real life we cant race with real cars, so this is a passion and a hobby  :tt1:
Thats why i beg you, if you spin, try to recover, can be fun also.
Fun is not only win, as you could see as my car choice for tonight race.
Just 2 examples: Today when i was fighting for position with Bill, he spun, he enter the pits,
exit pits with a lap down, but didnt quit :thumbup2:
2 weeks ago, in a GTR2 race at SPA, i spun and hit the left wall at EAU ROUGE, so i did
a 7,5 Km lap with a left puncture, i went to pits, back to track in last position, but i didnt
quit

Sorry for my English if something not sounds good :whistling:

See you next race

Funny old race in funny old cars. Quite exciting at the start as Radius, Madd-RIPP and I traded places. Then a long middle section when I'd lost ground on them and couldn't make any impression, and then finally another exciting phase at the end when I caught and passed Madd and had to work hard to keep Dan Minton from catching and passing me.

Very odd cars; no feel at all in the brakes which led to a number of "interesting" lines through Paddock Hill Bend. :o

After next week's 76 race I'll look at replacing the Ladder with some sort of 6-race championship pair rotation.

Third race in a row at Brands - second in the Minis and not one win :D
The out lap was a mess - two guys missed that we had a rolling start and when they finnally realised they both droped speed, but the bloke that got ahead of me on the out lap didnt get back to his proper position before the start and started from my qually position. I flasshed my lights... for him to realise it, but I guess he reckoned he was the one that should start from P3  ::)
Anyhow - good fun for the first few laps and after getting to P2 I messed one corner I was in for a lonely race as Baracus was just flying.
Only things happening were meeting a lagging Jag into which I crashed about three times because of the lag (car stopped middle of the line right when I was passing there). Nobody's fault except the developers of the game I reckon.
Great win Baracus - quite a lead  8)
Hopefully next race we finnaly start with some real men cars again and not these toys for boys

Great race, guys. Brands Indy does make me dizzy though!

Quali saw a new PB, but not quite enough to grab pole from Baracus.

On the grid, lights go green and I'm off. Two-thirds of a lap later, with a prompt on chat to remind me, I remember its a rolling start - oh bugger! Back off and back to P2 behind Baracus.

Rolling start was OK, we took off on the line and I was right behind BA, he maybe missed the shift into second because the he appeared to slow, I backed off and the P3 chap got in to the lead.

BA tried a pass for the lead at Druids, but ran wide letting me back into P2.

I was then close behind the leader, first time behind him into Paddock, looking for my braking point when he hit the brakes hard. This certainly wasn't deliberate, but I did not expect the leader to have such different speed  around Paddock. I braked but couldn't avoid hitting him from behind sending us both off. I rejoined in about 10th place, but he dropped out - sorry for the accident, but there was not much I could do. :(

Then it was a case of trying to get back to a decent position. I had some great battles with various racers, Radius and MadRIP in particular. I ran wide at Paddock once after putting a rear wheel on the grass, but otherwise kept it on the black stuff.

On the penultimate lap I managed to squeeze inside (oo-er missus) Assassino at Clearways (?) and grab my first UKGTL podium - yay!

Well done Baracus for a good win.

Someone asked about other tracks that are good - try Kyalami, its similar to Brands GP and is good fun.

Stu

No worries about that tap Stu, I used an old race set by mistake that had the short gearbox set in it, so was down on top speed. Shame think I could still have got a top five with it maybe. :)

Till next time. :)

Tried to make this, and was actually around, and able to use an Internet connection - even got around to installing the 1.3 skinpack properly...

...But then a friend invited himself around :( He has some life issues, and I couldn't really turn him around at the door, or force him to watch me drive around Brands Indy!

I'll be back though!

That's my way too.  I had a stop and go for cutting corners, moving off line to allow overtaking and then losing line into T1 and cutting corner twice.  Last finisher.

Similar to you, whilst racing a G2 car, at Enna in a mixed field, I got hit from behind at the standing start and clobbered by 2 or 3 cars.  Result a puncture and a full lap to pits.  Rejoined 1 lap down drove the race of my life came 8th out of 20 odd starters and top G2.  Some drivers lost it as the tyres wore and either quit or wrecked their cars.  Once I settled I really enjoyed my race, for me that's what it's all about.

If you use 'LABELS' just for the start you can see where everyone should be. Saves confusion.

Thanks for your nice comments guys :D

Yeah at the start I was a bit confused by trying to get the formation lap back under control and started in 2nd gear which I thought was bogged down too much so I made the mistake of changing to 1st, which instantly red-lined - so had to quickly change back but loss of momentum let No25 and Stu by.

I can't explain where my pace came from, as I thought I didnt get on with Mini's - but I got a great line through Paddock one time, which must have accounted for my pole lap - then in the race I was just trying to keep clean lines and concentration up.

Perhaps I can only drive girls cars - we will see next week I guess!!

PR : Is that the unluckiest tunnel in the World, or what! If I ever go on a driving holiday, I will certainly make sure I go nowhere near that death trap!! Ummm, where is it again :)

I usually do Tom, but I was fafing about AFK during the countdown and as I drive one handed couldn't tickle my tab button after that. :)
