Qualifying: 20:30 (20 mins)
Race: 20:50 (32 laps = ~40 mins)

Track: Hockenheim (Short)
Cars allowed: Shelby Daytona Coupé, E-Type, Chevrolet Corvette, AC Cobra 289 (see note 5 below), TVR Griffith 400, Lotus Elan 26R
Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Start: Rolling

Server: UKGTL 2A; in the event that the lobby is unavailable, connect using Direct IP, entering games.avonrise.co.uk in the Add IP box
Password: See this post (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2686)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7).
(3) General information on the series can be found on the series home page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=46).
(4) The season will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.3 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=27).
(5) We cannot restrict the choice of Cobra on the server to the slower 289 model; if you join with the faster 427 model expect to be kicked!

Lol. Nah, it's the fastest car in this class, and it was used by most at Monza. So I'm gonna get something else again  ;D

I take it this race is running the standard cutting rules and not the extra specific ones defined for GTR 2?

I was in two minds about it but the GTL races are so much less championship-oriented for most of us that I see no reason to care unless people are going to take the mickey.

Nightmare!
Was doin 1.18's in practice and thought that was Ok!?
How wrong was I !?

Qualified next to last!

Everybody drove away from me!
Very boring 15 laps then silly mistakes had me off on a regular basis!?
Managed to spin in front of the front two trying to get out of the way!
Sorry you two, I think I got away without affecting your race?

Had a couple more offs and in the end hit the escape button to save you all any hassle lapping me!?

Worst on-line race ever!? Very ()*&*&^(*&^&..... frustrated!

Hope you had a good race guys.

Respect to the 1.14's !? Wow!?

M.

Well I did until the entire Jolt network popped. Server said "loading next track" then we all got dumped out and the Jolt website is down and our TS server (also hosted on Jolt) went and I can't contact the game server at all, so guessing something serious just went pop at Jolt HQ.

Ok I was running second to last, but the Vette was so much fun. Glad it stopped when it did as my tyres were very shortly going to say "tyres worn". had a good battle with Gizmo and TC and Bernie until I span somewhere about 2 laps before it went pop.

For once it wasn't my ADSL connection which let me down! :-\

BTW, it did not go unnoticed that some people were running very wide in T1 during qualifying which explains some of the times which weren't matched by race pace... Yes, Mr Shark, you were one of them! >:(

To summarize the race in one word...interesting.

I didn't expect the Cobra to beat the Elans here, thought they would be midpack, as the Shelby and TVR are faster I think.

Race was very close, maybe sometimes a bit too hard defending, but okay, that's allowed. I was faster in the race, when there was a gap I could close in in about 2 laps or so. I won it under braking, which gave me a scare at the beginning of the race, because Pero was braking much earlier than I expected.
There were no places to overtake at this track when battling the same car.
All in all some very close 20+ laps, never more than 0.9s. If there are results, and race was more than 75%, I think we should leave it to that. If there is no result and not more than 75% was done, I think a rematch should be done  ;D.

Bit disappointed about the turnup, as I thought it was going up again especially with the new champ.

Wow, what a great race, despite the premature end. I really didn't expect to be on the pace at all tonight as I just got the G25 this afternoon and haven't had time to work out the right settings or get used to it yet. You can imagine my suprise then when I popped in a 1:14.5 in qual to put me clear 3rd on the grid and easily the leading Elan!  :o

The race start went without any dramas and I settled in behind the Cobras. The Cobras were very slowly pulling away, while I was pulling a sec per lap over the fastest of the other Elans. That left me on my own and I got bored very quickly and started losing concentration. An overshoot at turn 1 soon cured that and enabled Madd-RIP to close the 7 second gap and edge just ahead of me. We then had a great battle for the next 10 laps or so until the server died.

I still can't believe just how good this G25 is - absolutely miles better than the Sidewinder which wasn't a bad piece of kit itself. Looking forward to getting to know this baby a lot more intimately ;-)

:D Well only reinstalled GTL this evening on my new PC so had no praccy at all, Quali went great for me, beat my pb and was more than happy to get 6th.
Well what can I say about the race, ruddy fantastic! Mark, Pribeiro and Edam and myself all jockeying for position, virtually no contact, apart from some missing paint on my car......(EDAM!)  ;D and we were all trying different lines etc to gain an advantage, I finally managed to squeeze past only to be retaken by Edam and Mark got snagged by a warping pribeiro, most unfortunate.
Pribeiro made a mistake so managed to sneak past then tried chasing down Nevski, and finally got past after he made an error, I then was driving quali laps just to stay ahead of him before the server went pop. >:(
Hopefully if a rerun is done I'll be able to join, I'll be gutted if I'm working as I'll miss such a good race. ;D

Good race while it lasted.
Wanted to go with the Elan, but than decided to take the Cobra in practise. Got pole and had a clean start and than kept it steady - very conservative with my driving and not making a mad dash for it as usually. That kept Ruskus close by and made the race interesting. I had much in reserve for most of the laps though and was intentionaly preserving the tires for the last laps. Too bad these laps didnt come.
As for too hard defending - I never saw a car beside my car - always saw car in the mirror and I took conservative lines into well before the usuall entry, never driving from side to side to block.
As for being faster in the race than me - well dont count your chickens to early. I was taking it easy most of the laps and putting on the pressure for a lap or two in between to get a bit of a gap and than cooled down. So those reduces of gaps were mostly down to me slowing a bit.
Rematch - I would be up for that if needed. 8)

What a corking qually and race session that was !  I was gutted when the server died with 12 laps remaining  :'( it looked like it was going to be action right to the very end.

Qualied a great 4th which i was very pleased with considering the company.   8) (and that was without going wide at T1..before someone says it , i actually could take it faster by braking early and cutting the very nib of the inside kerb rather than drifting wide.
Had superb battles from the start until (premature) finish, duelling with Nevski, Pribeiro, Madd and Edam in some great tussles. I was having a nightmare with Pribeiro's car though as it was severely warping 2-3 times a lap and i kept slamming the anchors on or taking avoiding action only to find it was a ghost version of the car right in front of me :( This allowed the names above to gain on me each time, not helped by me outbraking myself twice at turn 2. Also nudged Edam at the same corner and put him into a slow spin (sorry mate...did stop hoping you would pull back across in front of me but it didnt happen).
Was still battling with edam when the server bailed out so that would have been a continuous fight to the end :fencing:

The cars look fantastic in full detail, i particularly liked the gun metal grey cars of Nevski? and others, with the old fashioned black number plates with silver lettering  8)  and Sharks Stealth looking Yank job looked ace powersliding through arena too  :tt1:

Unlikely; Paulo has been a problem connection driver for a while and it's getting to the point where sadly I may have to ask him to withdraw until and unless he can sort his connection out. :'(

The Jolt support forum was also AWOL last night, it's back this morning but no mention of any issues last night  :-\ I have asked.

I think it must have been a network issue, the server is still running GTL.

Actually any time that happened for me in qually and the game didn't give me a warning I was backing off. Most of the time I was hanging on for dear life just to get the car wrestled around the corner and having it (yes it controlled me more than I controlled it ) run wide lost me more time than getting it right (the Vette is not exactly a precision instrument  8) ). You probably can't tell on monitor when a cut warning is given the lap not counted when that happened. I can assure you it was not on purpose. My race pace was faster than my qually so you can't be talking about me anyway.

Unfortunately it has got to the stage where one doesn't want to be near Priberio on the track as his car warps so much.

Oh, excuse me, Mr. Outbrakes-himself-into-T2-on-2-laps-consecutively, taking my doorhandles off! :D ;) I gotta turn in some time you know  :P

Was good racing with you guys - very close between the 4 of us Elans, with Nev quite a long way ahead most of the time. I think we all changed places quite a few times. Paulo did have more warp than an episode of Star Trek, and we all hit his ghost on more than one occasion. One time I lost two places because of it. However, we all have connection problems at some point (God knows I have recently), so lets hope it's all fixed for next time :thumbup1:

I certainly wouldnt want to see Paulo binned because of it, but would also have to say it cost me a heap of time and places last night  :(

ps, i still think we should have some standing starts now. These cars are perfect for it, it almost seems an anti-climax to start these races with a slow rolling start.

I am so sorry, for the warp troubles i had cause.
I changed my motherboard and power supply, this week due to a breakdown,
so, for now, i cant upgrate the internet connection(more expensive).
I hope in future, a upgrated connection will be enough for a problem free driving.
Thanks all for the fair driving.
Of course, while i dont fix net connection, i will not be around.
Cheers

Replay (http://ukgtl.simracing.org.uk/UKGTL%20S2A%20-%20Hockenheim%20Short%20070208.zip) and Provisional Results (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&event=308)

I'll leave superior powers to decide if these are valid or if any other action is taken, 66% race distance completed.

At that distance it should really be declared a full result. It didn't feel like we'd got that far!

:( Those results are well off, I overtook Nev for a few laps before the server went down and was in 3rd, is this because the server was FUBAR?

update.
Just watched replay , and sure enough I was 3rd with Nevski in 4th, please amend the results  ;D

The results will probably have mixed up those who had finished a lap when the server was lost and those who were still on that lap.

Would somebody like to volunteer to look at the replay and the export and figure out what the positions were at the end of the previous lap to the leader's last one (which is how I think it's done in real life)?

The server was fine, it was a network issue so the data I believe is 'correct'. I suspect Dave's explanation is right.

Yes, the data is not right for me but Dave's explanation probably accounts for that. It has me a lap down which I wasn't and that I dnf'd with electronics failure, which i didn't cause I was still running.

Gah, thanks Madd, but Simon was a third of a second in front of me as we crossed the line. Had the mass disco happened just a few seconds later we'd have all finished the next lap (the leader's 21st) but unfortunately for me I have to go back a place. :'(

I think I've managed to figure out the correct times from the export and I'll poke them in when I get a chance.

Hey Gizmo, you deserved to be a place ahead of me. You had passed me before the server crashed cause I remember losing it not long before and losing touch with you.

I may deserve it but the normal rules when a race is red flagged are to take the result from lap before. It's no big deal anyway, I don't care about championships in UKGTL and even if I did my disco from the first round put paid to that.

Results now properly amended.
