(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7). (3) General information on the series can be found on the series home page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=46). (4) The season will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.3 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=27). (5) We cannot restrict the choice of Cobra on the server to the slower 289 model; if you join with the faster 427 model expect to be kicked! I've been doing the whole track in 2nd gear on my TVR, lol. Need a rough guide of Gear/Speeds for each turn so I can start to fine tune the car itself
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Blunder on February 19, 2007, 07:59:10 AM +0000 For what's it's worth, the best advise I have had since I started this in November basically came down to, ' Get on with it' ! ( In the nicest possible way ! )
This was related to the fact that I was very slow to start with and spent hours on tweeking the set up with little improvement. Our good friend Purdie told me I should load the std set up, tweek the basics, gear ratio's and tyres pressures etc. and then concentrate on learning the circuit. I have to say he was right! ( BTW, I'm still slow!! but am improving!! ;D ) Hope this helps!! M. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Mr.BMW on February 19, 2007, 09:28:37 AM +0000 Yeah I think i Got the hang of the track now. My setup is down pat for my driving style, and I can wrestle the TVR with little resistance.
I thought Lime park was way bigger than it is, so luckily I didn't have much to memorize Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Mike Hammer on February 20, 2007, 03:52:05 PM +0000 All members welcome. Hi, does that mean I can join the race as well, just now having signed up on the board? Read the post on rscnet, which suggested this was all that was neccessary. I assume I need the UKGTL Car Skin pack v1.3, as well as the tracks? Anything else? I can't keep up (at all :'() with guys like Grozni, Baracus or StuFoster that I see are driving in your league, (at least not yet ;)) but I do try my best to drive as clean as possible. Cheers, Mike Hammer, aka hAMMER Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Simon Gymer on February 20, 2007, 05:17:27 PM +0000 Hi Mike,
Glad you can join us. Yes you need the skin pack and the track (available on our downloads page) and to have read the rules, especially about the start procedure (rolling start), there's no specific series registration like there is for our GTR championships. Don't worry about not being as fast as the aliens as there's plenty of us old duffers too. :) See you on Thursday! Cheers. Simon. Hope you had a good race Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: RealMrPot on February 22, 2007, 09:20:43 PM +0000 Bugger.
Nice big lead, pacing myself, around 10 laps to go. All looking good. Then, BLACK SCREEN!! ***!! Followed by a message saying that GT Legends has had a problem. I'd say! Damn. WHy does it only ever crash when I'm winning? Must be a "No win" virus. :( Hope the rest of the race went well for the rest of you. Kept spinning through turn one. Sensibly decided to take it a bit slower about 1/2 the race. Don't know why It took me that long. Anyway from the longer braking zone I ended up having a problem with my rears locking up. Eventually managed to get into a rhythm and progressed up a few places. I only glad I didn't collect anyone during my idiot phase of the race :)
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Jeffrey on February 22, 2007, 09:40:00 PM +0000 Race was fun for. First one with H-pattern shifting and heel and toeing, and it showed ;D. I had 3 offs the whole race and finished in 7th :D.
But most were due to "Dave Gymer and the curse of his grey pearl" :P Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Blunder on February 22, 2007, 09:40:59 PM +0000 Wow, what a race!
Equalled my PB in Qualie for 6th! Had a good scrap with Hammer? after a few people dropped out for 3rd. Steady race and then all of a sudden , I'm 2nd, that scared the s*** out of me! Steady racing with a few people close behind. Finally I was in the clear with a reasonable gap only 10 to go! Then Of course the tyres start going off, a couple of minor unforced offs and Simon was right behind me! Hope I was driving ok when you caught me Simon? ??? I was very nervous for a while but held it together for 2nd! Best result by a mile! Go Team Oldie!! M. ;D Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Simon Gymer on February 22, 2007, 09:41:36 PM +0000 Sorry to see those 2 technical problems.
Was a funny old race, ding donging with Priberio's 'no-warp' car :) and a few others too. Had a mare on the last lap when for the second race in a row my power went off on my monitor. I knew what was happening this time so was very quick to get off my arse and get the cable pushed back in. When I got it back on I was just ahead of Priberio again who was lapping Gizmo, thankfully last lap and I just hung on for third when Priberio spun it over the crest. See you next week for some more fun. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Blunder on February 22, 2007, 09:43:11 PM +0000 Hey Ruskus, Don't know how you held on to that thing round the corners!?
I was behind you in Qualie and you were sideways through every corner! Great to watch!! ;D Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Dave 'Gizmo' Gymer on February 22, 2007, 09:48:07 PM +0000 I only really got to 'race' people who'd gone off from ahead - my only line of defence was to go into drifting mode and take up the entire width of the track in all the corners - tyres were shot by 2/3rds distance but that's normal in the TVR. Slid off once or twice - once whilst going slowly trying to let Ruskus past. :-[ :D
I do like that track but the TVR was just a bit too wild for it. :o :taz: :surrender:  Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Simon Gymer on February 22, 2007, 09:49:26 PM +0000 Provisional results (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&event=317) available, as is the replay (http://ukgtl.simracing.org.uk/) and updated provisional standings (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=46).
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Jeffrey on February 22, 2007, 09:50:49 PM +0000 Hey Ruskus, Don't know how you held on to that thing round the corners!? I was behind you in Qualie and you were sideways through every corner! Great to watch!! ;D Haha, I love this class, best one in GTL for me. More power than grip, can't be better ;D. I have some drift videos, but they are quite old, but I can upload if you want. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Simon Gymer on February 22, 2007, 09:52:40 PM +0000 Don't forget, another add-on track next week, this time moving onto the TC65 Cup at Tsukuba. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: MortenS on February 22, 2007, 10:39:22 PM +0000 I'm quite happy with my first ever race online in GTL. Don't think I hindered you guys much, and I managed to stay on the road most of the time, no major spins. So next time I can probably push a bit harder, not much though.
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Mike Hammer on February 22, 2007, 11:06:42 PM +0000 Had a decent start and beginning of race.
Lost contact with the lead group pretty quickly, but settled in third position (I think?) trying to keep two Elans at bay. Sorry for slowing you down guys ;-) Had some nice pressure for a good while from a yellow Elan. (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/822/pressurehs7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) But then he spun (http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/3312/spinmg5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) and I started thinking I'd have a lonely race for a while, probably being more then a second off the frontrunner pace and having gotten a decent lead when the two guys behind me spun. This put me offguard and I lost concentration not more then a few measly turns later :-( Putting a tire outside at a bad spot (http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/9638/tiregt6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) Which lead to me putting a signpost through the front of my bumper. (http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/5479/wrappedla9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) Bwaaaah. :'( Oh well, car was still okay to drive and I had a few good close races with several people. The little cobra was fun to drive, and quite competetive indeed at this track. I felt a little sorry for holding up the Elans, them having zero opportunity to get past thanks to my little V8. But that's racing. Thanks all, I had a great time, and will surely be back for more, if I may. Ps. are posts this big allowed? Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: Blunder on February 23, 2007, 12:55:00 AM +0000 Like the screen shots!
I was that yellow Elan! Good close racing eh! Excellent fun! M. Yep, that's why I force people to host the images elsewhere, so it doesn't become a problem to us. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: zarker on February 23, 2007, 11:24:18 AM +0000 I really enjoyed my first race :) Though I was at back, being lapped repeatedly. Its been a long time since my last league race, and I'd forgotten how nice it is.
Think there's something wrong with my rev-limiter. at the end of the formation lap you guys were just getting away from me. I know you had your limiters on cos your lights flashed. But I had to turn mine off to catch up. Hope I haven't broken any rules here? I have to apologise for stealing somebody's Lots skin. Its just that my interpretation of the rules was that you HAD to use the skinpack, if one existed for your choice of car. I didn'r realise the skinpack were for team-members only. sorry Had to retire midway, think I'd got some serious damage cos I was starting to weave all over the track, and was afraid of taking the race-leaders out as they came to lap me (again :) ). all in all a real nice time :) I wont be here next week cos go on holiday from wedsday. Hope to see you guys again week after next Hapy racing Title: Re: UKGTL Season 2 (GTC-65 Cup) - Lime Rock (no chicane) - Feb 22 Post by: BillThomas on February 23, 2007, 12:08:45 PM +0000 Apologies for being "absent on parade". Had to travel from Burnham on Sea to Aylesbury for a meeting, which of course overran. As a result had to drive home during the rush hour. By the time I'd had meal, I'm afraid I just couldn't psyche myself up to get behind a wheel again. It’s my age you know.
