Oh yeah - I hadn't made that connection despite having published the report! ::)

Still, that means if I finish 3rd you still take the championship. But never fear, I have a cunning plan to beat you outright and win anyway. :P As long as it doesn't rain.

Yep, should be a good final round.

I was really looking for a top 3 placing, but fps problems have dogged my season so it wasn't really going to happen.  It the latter part of the season managing to finish was an acheivement, and the problems escalated to such a point that I didn't even bother showing for Hockenheim to avert screwing things up for everyone else with a badly warping car.

One new computer later (Dual Core E6600, GeForce 8800GTX etc  ;D) .... this race should be silky smooth, and hopefully next season I'll threaten the top a bit more.

If it was allowed then I might consider it, although it would be a bit of a tall order. All three cars seem quite evenly matched, so there is no easy way to self handicap.

Changeable doesn't work in GTR2 1.1 without hacking the weather file. We'll almost certainly be doing this for Season 5, but for this race "Changeable" will just result in hot sessions (as it did in the Masters).

According to the rules light rain will result in a dry race. So I'll keep my fingers crossed it'll be either no rain or light rain  ;D

On the practise server this morning the temps were down to 11 degrees C.  For the first temp I had problems getting my soft tyres up to temperature.  Then it started to rain but quickly stopped.  It was the first time I've seen a wet track with blue skies and the sun shining.. With the spray from Don's car and the reflections on the track, it looked amazing....   :thumbup2:

At the start came round the 2nd corner only to find Luke in the middle of the track, had nowhere to go ended up hitting him damaging the car ...went off after that damage the car some more .....took ages in the pits to fix while I watched everyone go by :( ...then to cap it off got a stop and go for speeding :(

Congrats to Dave for the championship well done M8 :)

Oh well, didnt turn out the end of season bit of fun i was hoping for in the G3 Porsche cup car.

Didnt get home until during the 2nd practise session and so jumped into qually cold. Did alright for a while trading times with TT and Zacari but ended up bottom of the list  :(
Race started terribly when i came flying around turn 2 to find a Ferrari 360 of Monkey? heading towards me on track :o after he had some kind of contact with another car. Suffered severe aero damage to the front of my car and was surprised it was able to carry on ??? I was going to park it up there and then but decided to continue on to see how it went. I was already something like 13 secs down on the other g3 cars before the lap was over after that :(
Couldnt get the car to get below the 1:50 time so assumed it was from the damage. Had a few little fights along the way with TT and Zacari but they both had way more pace than my car, even on the s/f straight.
Pitted around 48 mins just for tyres and got a flaming stop and go for apparent pitlane speeding even though the sodding AI had control ! >:( So did two laps more and re-pitted. Was annoyed and sweating like a mofo by the time i got out again and then when i got a tank slapper up at Campsa and span, i gave up in sheer disgust  :(

Really enjoyed that, apart from the start. I think it was chunky who went in front of me on the formation lap. Wasn't sure I should have just taken my position but in the end I looked away when I heard a noise in the room, got wheels on the grass and ended up starting at the back of the grid. Battled well and got into 11th. I think I made it up behind Picnic, maybe Dave but couldn't get past. Just didnt have those few extra lengths. A lengthy pit stop saw me fall behined on time but kept it well on the second half, made some nice laps and pushed a few people for position. And I dont mean that literally! ;D

Congrats to everyone and the champ!

Holy **** that was hard work.  Never EVER will I take the M3 at Barcelona again.  It felt like a totally different car the the one I've been driving for the rest of the season, understeering loads, especially after the tyres wore in a bit.

Pretty happy with my quallifying, 1:44.4 I think, started okay in the race (drove under a somersaulting MC12 I think it was), but couldn't keep up with anyone.  One by one everyone went past.  Had a very long first stint, and then with 30mins to go enough was enough.

Cocked up the pitstop - again.  Didn't put any fuel in, but being so slow (I think I only managed one sub 1:47 lap in the race  :-[) it nearly didn't matter.  Coasted into the pits with no fuel at the end, put 10 litres in .... and saw the chequered flag as I was on my way down the pit lane!

Congrats DG, a very consistent season .... well deserved winner .... now dissapear off to the Masters to give someone else a chance at podiuming!!!  :P

Great race everyone.

Just noticed that Freq and edamspeed are equal on points now. Could not have been closer. I guess Freq gets the championship as he won more rounds?

Well done regardless, both great drivers!!

Some nice racing tonight Freq. Before the pit stop I just could not get closer to you at all. Car felt even better after pit stop and after you made mistake I caught right up. It was a food fight for a few laps with about 20min to go and will look good in replay.

Glad to end season on a high note and will be here for the fun races I can make, and hopefully next season I can get full time status for events other that sprint masters

Bloody hell that was hard work! Couldn't match Brian or Freq for pace in qualy, so settled for third. Barcelona isn't my favourite track, and I've never been able to make the Saleen go any faster than a low 1:38, so well done you guys for the qualifying times!

Was holding 3rd for the first couple of laps, then made a serious noob mistake. The setup for the Saleen I am using is a bit of a pig with a tank full of fuel, and I ended up understeering off at the last corner, and played about in the sand for a while. "That's it, game over" I thought.

Anyway, managed to battle back up the field a little. Got past cej's Saleen first, then leap-frogged lincescom in the pits. Lincescom gave me a serious challenge in the 2nd half of the race - we were running very close at some points, and I hope I didn't close the door too much on you mate  ???

At the end, was glad to have held 3rd after the above challenge, but I was over a minute down on Freq and not really catching up at all, so 3rd was as high as I was going to get, without Freq or Brian having a serious problem.

Must confess I have no idea of the points situation now, but I'm thinking Freq has pipped me to the championship. If this is indeed the case, I can only say the better man won in the end - well done Freq :)

EDIT: Forgot to say, really really really well done and thank you! to all the NGT drivers - you were superb tonight - everyone held their line perfectly or got out of the way, and I thought it was very well behaved by everyone

Sorry mate, not sure what happened in front of me, was following a BMW if i remember right through the first couple of turns he took the wide line outside due to an accident which I didnt see and i had nowhere to go! got caught up in it all hitting a car that was sideways across the track! next thing i know I'm watching you approach at some speed hitting me at the front..... (doing exactly what i had just done!) limped back to the pits with aero damage and a puncture to carry on.

Now a lap down chase down and unlap myself from the G3 cars and quickly caught up with Don surprised me so much when flashing his lights to over take miss my braking point and let him back through (thanks for being so courteous)

Sorry for all the smoke 4 laps from the end, I was sure if i had pitted would have lost a place so short shifted kept the revs low and finished! :)

Provisional congratulations to Freq and 28CD on the GT championships, and bad luck to Edam. Also to Dave and Team Shark in NGT, real tough Luke not a satisfactory way to settle a championship.

Well congrats to me for actually finishing a race. :thumbup2:
Its been a while.
In all fairness i should have been out on the 1st turn as Luke came straight across, and i went through him.
Taking me off,and rejoining near the back. :cursing:
But i stuck with it and made my way back through the pack.
Didn't notice the damage on my car until i pulled into the pits.
One hell of a dent.
Thought i was getting some understeer, but i put that down to pushing hard.
And congrates to Dave.
Also Congrates to Dave on his pitstop and Picnic.
Couldn't figger out how you both got back in front me. ???
You'll have to let me in on your strategy. ;)

Congrats to Dave, really would of had a good chance to get the championship off you......

I was both relieved and gutted to see what happened - it wasn't a fitting end to the championship, especially after you put in a great late qualifying lap to take pole. On the replay it looks like I just clipped the front of Will round the outside of Renault as I tried to avoid both hitting anyone and going off in the carnage. Beholder took a massive hit - I'm amazed he was so stunningly quick after that!

Difficult place Barcelona, with massive tyre wear I decided to start on hards and run long. It took a good 5 laps to get them up to temperature and Reign Man put me under big pressure for the first few laps. Having seen Luke leave I knew the championship was won anyway but I really wanted to see if I could go out with a win. Darren was scampering off into the distance but I hoped he would burn his tyres up or go off; Beholder was catching me pretty quick and I was powerless to keep him back, but hoped for a similar situation.

In the end I had no answer to either RSR, and in fact ended up having to push hard to stay ahead of Picnic in the other Team Shark TVR. I gambled the car change penalty against my total inability to get rid of the 350Z's understeer, which is a killer in all those long right handers. Without Luke's untimely exit I doubt it would've paid off but the Beast of Blackpool was good fun and I really enjoyed driving it off the corners with the throttle. ;D

Congratulations to FreQ on the GT championship - bad luck Edam, so very close! Commiserations to Luke, and well done Picnic on third place in NGT and for safely securing Team Shark's rightful place at the head of the team championship. ;D

Holy **** that was hard work.  Never EVER will I take the M3 at Barcelona again.  It felt like a totally different car the the one I've been driving for the rest of the season, understeering loads, especially after the tyres wore in a bit.

I tried it in testing and the tyre wear was a joke. I've never known a track be so hard on tyres that softs were utterly unusable in the race! :o

ps. How the **** did Reign Man finish ahead of me and Beholder behind?! Non comprendé!

Nothing magical. Start with a full tank and only top up at the stop. And practice, practice, practice. I did 20 minutes of pit stop drills yesterday in preparation, and also made sure I put in a couple of fast laps just before my stop.

I think I could've made it to the flag without any fuel at the stop, thought it would've been close. That would've saved me another 5 seconds or so.

Phew. What a race.  :sweatdrop:

After spending 3 hours shoveling snow to get my car out for tomorrow, I was seriously considering giving this one a pass. My arms were completely and  hammered ,I was ready to go to bed.

But I decided to give it a go anyway, mostly because I've spend quite some time practicing this week and didn't want it to go to waste.  :)

Now I must admit I regret that . I've never made so many mistakes in one race. 2 times in the gravel outbraking myself and one time into the barrier because I gave it to much throttle to early. Glad I didn't hit anyone else, at times I really lost all concentration  :-\

Anyway, I was as usual some seconds behind the front runners and qualified in 5th. Start went well and I managed to hang on a bit. Then Edamspeed went of the track and I was in 4th  :D

I was a second off my the pace I managed to do in practice, but with Edamspeed out all was well..Or so I thought. ;)

At the end of the stint he was closing in fast on me . Even though I wanted to ,I didn't close the door on him. It was no use. He was clearly a lot faster then me anyway.

Did a late pitstop to try and get out in front of Edamspeed and Lincescom, but just as I drove out of the pits they both flew by me. So close  :'(

Pretty uneventful after that apart from a couple of concentration lapses almost putting me out of the race, but managed to stay on the track .  With one lap to go I was closing in fast on 4th,I knew something must've happened. Instead of concentrating on my driving I managed to hit the wall coming out of a corner and I thought it was over. Somehow managed to get back on the track and keep going without any serious damage. Then passed Lincescom who was parked in the grass.   :)  Oh well, honestly didn't deserve much points after this fiasco of a race, but nevertheless  8)

congrats to the winners.

Well that was one tough race. Got a bad start and let a gap out to the guys in front, managed to close down and pass Adam as his obvious tyre problems got worse. Colin then got pretty close as I tried my Tiff drift around the long right hander - I was 90 degrees to the direction I was meant to be going but the TVR had the pace in the bits of track where it mattered. After that managed to close down to sub 4 secs to Dave before my pitstop. Dave stopped the lap after and came out 11 secs in front  :-\ Practice required I think! Closed that down again to around 7 secs, although lots of untidy moments. Dave then put in a couple of quicker laps and that broke me. For the last 20 minutes I have no idea what I was doing. Never got a decent lap in again, missed braking points, missed apexes. No concentration. Happy to have kept my place.

What a great season, and that's after I just turned up in Round 1 to ensure a full server. Thanks to everyone who took part, especially those that came round after round. Roll on S5 :)

Paul968 again danced away in G3 - you really fly here, Paul. Saw I didn't stand a chance with Paul, so I decided to have some close battles with Zacari and MJ. They were close and I started to drive a bit slowlier to make a sandwich with Zacari between the Legends.  ;D

Had a very strange race, the car was not consistent - had a pace and the next lap was a second slower. Never saw something like that. After MJ left we had some close time with Zacari. I must say I saw him struggle and he blew it a few times. Waited for him and after he passed I was chasing him. Was fun seeing how he handled it on the very limit - great driving, there Zac, especialy on the braking. Of course, being on the edge is risky and mistakes happened. But when he had the pace, it was great to watch. Too bad MJ left - this kind of close racing is best done in three.  ;D

Sorry for all the smoke 4 laps from the end, I was sure if i had pitted would have lost a place so short shifted kept the revs low and finished! :)

I'm amazed you managed to get through the race. There was a ridiculous amount of smoke coming out the back. Not easy to get by you :)  Glad you made it

You were amazed, check out the damage to the front of the car to be even more amazed.
Cause i was gobsmacked when i seen it at the end.

I must say as I'm not usually in the position to be lapping, everyone was great tonight. The GT guys and the G3 guys when I was passing. It was great watching the little yellow Porkers fight it out in front of me as I caught them ;D

ps. How the **** did Reign Man finish ahead of me and Beholder behind?! Non comprendé!

...erm.....I had a great race!  ;D. After I overtook you I pushed really hard to try and catch Darren and get a gap out on you. I knew it was very likely that you would have a better pit stop so I needed as big a gap as possible. When Darren took his stop he was around 12/13 seconds (at least) ahead of me and I had a gap of 11/12 secs over you. I had a good stop but got held up as I exited the pit.  >:(

Darren at this point was only 3 seconds ahead but he was able to increase the gap to 8 seconds. It remained at 8 secs until the last few laps. I had lead over 3rd place after the stops which stay at around 7 seconds.

I finished 3 or 4 secs behind him Darren to take second.  Chuffed to bits..my first bit o' Silver. :P

Thanks for the great racing guyz

Whew, finally I can relax. Bad luck Edam, at least we made it a close one!

With one eye on the race and another on the championship, I was pretty worried after the pace of the Masters race last week. Barcelona is one of my least fav tracks and I couldn't get below a 39 on my race setup. After working on it on Friday, I was a little more satisfied with it, but still couldn't match Kerr's best from the race. I knew it was going to be tight and wasn't confident at all before joining.

Then Edam scared me silly by running low 38's in practise - I thought that was your race pace! Before qualy I thought it was going to be Kerr disappearing and me and Edam fighting for 2nd and the championship, so was very surprised when I pipped Kerr for pole. Neither of us got the best lap in (traffic was quite bad in Q2) but that calmed me down a bit  :sweatdrop:

The first half of the race went perfectly for me. Trying to be gentle with the revs and especially the left hand side tyres, me and Kerr were pretty much glued together, rarely more than 2 seconds apart. The car felt great later in the stint and the kindness to the tyres started to pay off. The stop was OK and we came out with the same gap as we had before (about 3 seconds). I then got it into my head that now would be a good time to push for a few laps to take advantage of my fresh and hot new tyres. This looked good for a couple of laps, pulling the advantage out to 6 seconds, until I got complacent and made a silly error into that 2nd gear left (no idea of the name for it). I was very lucky to not completely spin, and only half span into the gravel - Kerr was now 2 seconds behind and gaining fast. Having to push even more the front left really started to go and hit over 105 degrees. Now I was in a vicious circle - back off and cool the tyre, or push and make it even hotter. It was now I also realised I'd overfilled at the stop by about 15L   :-[

It was no good, pushing just had me making more mistakes and Kerr was now all over me. Another mistake left the door open onto the back straight, and that was pretty much it. I thought about pushing like crazy to stay with you, but straight away the gap was 1.3 seconds, and then I realised that 3rd was over a minute behind. From there it was short-shift bring it home time. Congrats on your first win!  :)

Feel a little bad to snatch it at the end, then again I lost 4 points on a technicality in China, and hadn't joined UKGTR in time to race the first 2 rounds, so am pretty chuffed to take it. I didn't think the championship was possible half way through the season after having torrid first and second enduro races @ Spa and Zhuhai, then things started going my way. Good consistent results from Edam nearly took the prize  :o

The only time I ever won a race meeting in real life I ended taking it on countback as well...I'm not sure if that's a curse or a blessing!

Not sure what fun races I can make, but whatever.
Roll on Sprint race  :-X

Edit:
Forgot to mention:
Well, congratulations Freq, you deserve it - great driving! :thumbup1:
Thanks very much! Very gracious in defeat - it'll make you stronger for next season :)
I doubt Dave will be putting me and Kerr in Academy next season, you and Nug may well be the favs for S5  ;D

And hope my pace lap was better than last time! Concentrated soo bloody hard on it!

For the second race in a row I've had to slam on my brakes and swerve to avoid Luke's car.  I'm amazed I got through the carnage unscathed.  It was a real shame that Luke went out early, because for the first time I actually thought I could match Luke for pace. But we will never know :(

After the initial excitement had passed I set about extending my lead over Dave.  I know Dave is a master at pit stops so that meant I needed at least 20 seconds over him by half way.  After 20 minutes had elapsed the gap to second was up to 12 seconds.  But then I got a big surprise.  That lead started to come down by 2 seconds a lap.  I was stunned.  This made me push even harder, too hard infact and my tyres soon lost their grip.  Just when I had given up hope of keeping onto 1st in class I realised the guy behind wasn't Dave, it was only Will in his GT.  :P

You can imagine my relief.  ;D

I pitted after 40mins with an 18 second lead and after a sloooooow pit stop I came back out in 13th; just behind Adam..  I was expecting a tough time getting past him, but to my amazement Adam pulled off the racing line and seemed to let me by.  Thanks mate. :thumbup1:

From then on it was a lonely race, due to the guys in front pitting one by one...  I had an anxious wait when I noticed Dave had pitted.  Luckily I managed to pass him while he was still in the pits, but even so he and Reign Man had eaten a huge chuck into my lead.

For the last 20 minutes I just tried to keep the gap to second as high as possible.  This gap never got higher than 8 seconds, but luckily it was enough for me to take my first win in an Enduro race.

Thanks to everyone for a great race.  Unlucky Luke...  Congrats Dave on the Championship...

Thanks to the GT and G3 drivers for your clean and fair driving..  :thumbup2:

That was a real handful of a race to come back for! :o

Qualified in amongst the other cup runners, had a good start running close with TT and MJ but struggled to get consistant laps.  The car was really unstable off the kerbs and I threw myself into the gravel a couple of times, thankfully the gravel does its job in GTR2!  Was good to have lots of mini-battles with Truetom over the race or it'd have been far more of a grind, more of those in the future would be great :) looking forward to jumping in a more familiar GT car though! ;D

Just noticed that despite me having to drop the 350Z in favour of the TVR at Monza and Barcelona, Nissan still beat BMW for 3rd in the manufacturers championship. :w00t:

Although it we were racing for position of sorts (I'd yet to pit), the M3 was so horribly outclassed at this circuit, I wasn't going to hold you up for long.  From memory the front drifted out again, running me wide, so I stayed there and let you round the inside.  Knowing you were leading the NGT's, I didn't want to risk knackering your race, and with me having to fight the M3 the whole way through the race, if I were trying to keep you behind me, it would probably have ended in tears.

I'm dissapointed that barring the first 7 or so laps I wasn't really racing anyone, it was a bit dull, but it was great to run an 80 minute race with no computer related problems, I've been dogged with them for the entirety of this season.  Given that it was my first "proper" season, I'm reasonably pleased with how it all went on the whole, and with more experience under my belt and a shiny new PC (Dell XPS 710 complete with GeForce 8800GTX ) behind me, I'll be coming back much stronger in season 5.

I had to miss China and Spa because my ISP (Tiscali) started rate-shaping everyone's connections in December, and I couldn't get a connection to the lobby :( If I'd scored just one point in one of those races.... Well, the racing world is full of 'what ifs', so I'm not going to dwell on it. Suffice to say Freq, you were much faster in most of the races than I.

I decided to stick with the Saleen for this season, because I didn't want to just take the 'easy' option of a F575 or a Lambo, but I've been struggling for pace at some circuits. Might take something else for next year - I've done my time in an 'alternative' car  ;D

Sorry Edam, there was me assuming I'd been the only one with a bit of bad luck...sucks :(

You shouldn't feel the need to take an alternative car, take what you want! I've driven the Lambo since the day before GTR1 came out (thanks play.com! ;D) and it's been my car of choice ever since....I don't think I drove another car for about 3 or 4 days after the game came out! :P

The only other car I get on with is the Lister...still considering it for S5....not sure yet. I think it's slower over a lap but over an enduro race it might be quite close.

Anyway, take the car you actually want to drive for S5, who cares if 50 million others drive it! I can safely say I've been driving the Lambo longer than most noobs in publics  ;)

Ended up racing the NGTs more than the G3s as Tom was hanging back to fight with Mark & Zacari. Had pretty good pace, both in qual & the race (took med/hard tyres) and was quite pleased to finish on the lead NGT lap and ahead of a couple. The end was a bit tight though as I crossed the line with 0.1 litres of fuel

Congrats to Freq and Darren on their wins and to Dave for the NGT championship (especially as it was done largely in the 350Z). Thx also the GT drivers when passing - it all went very smoothly despite the speed difference.

The Lister is one of the best handling in my opinion. I raced with it a bit after starting out in the lambo. The Saleen can be a bit of a handful at times, but it's fun to drive  8)  Several of the lap records in our Danish GT league is set by Saleen ,so it's definately not a slow car  :)

Finally got to the bottom of my frequent drop outs in this season - my ISP seem to have messed up my switch to 8mb broadband and have finally fixed it. I was getting very variable bandwidth and ping rates over the last season. It seems to be fixed and consistent now so I look forward to season 5 where I hope I can stay connected beyond qualy!

Cheers.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I could not race for the last two endurances, My PC is all packed away after some major renervations at home. Its nearly all sorted now so I expect I will be back with plenty of time for S5. Well done to FreQ and Dave for their wins.

See you on the track soon. ;)
