Don't worry, it won't be the only time this season this approximate selection of cars is used.

Can I just check that we can use the faster Capri and BMW (Schnizer)? Or is it the same as some previous races? Oh and if were using a similar selection of cars again could we maybe add the Pantera?

Thanks

Yes the faster Capri and the faster BMW, although the others will be available as we can't stop that.
Pantera and 906 are too fast for this lot so will be used together some other time.

Had a quick go around here last night. What a fantastic track with plenty of attention to detail by the track creator  8)
Its a real handful in a 76' 911 ! :o

Really hoping to make this tonight but got another commitment early evening. :( Going to try my absolute best to make it back home in time, even if i only get back during qually.
This always happens when my beloved '76 cars are racing, wouldnt care so much if it was the GTC65 series  :'(

I don't know if I can make it either ... work etc getting in the way :(.

If I can I will, but failing that, have a good race all.

The track is beautifully drawn. So much detail and it's quite challenging in the 76 cars.

I have no concept of the layout though as it's the 2005 version of Kyalami so I have no experience there at all. So I'll probably spend all race learning the track.  ;D

This track is great fun - the first set of tightening left-handers is a real challenge on the brakes. And, there are a couple of good overtaking zones near the tighter bends.

But, I don't think I'm going to be home in time to join the race. :(

Have fun!

I'll probably be in the Vette, dunno which one yet. Less heal-toeing with only 4 gears  ;D

I did a few laps early in the week in the Capri. It's one of these tracks where if you don't feel scared you aren't going nearly fast enough. :o ;D

yeah its a cracking track layout, with all the dips and turns and blind corners.

Its begging for a dusk setting with the South African sun setting. Gazelles prancing in the serengetti....oh, getting carried away again  ;)

I am so screwed in the Chevvy  ;D. I could only remember the version that was in the F1 1979 mod, but this is a whole different experience :). Especially the last chicane, in which I almost have to reverse and try again because the turning circle is so big in this thing ::)

Great race, great Circuit
Couldn't see anything for half of the race due to Ruskus Lighting up the rears on his Corvette, constant tyre smoke for 99% of the lap!! Awesome

Spun on the penultimate lap but a fair result for me with my pace for the race.

Really enjoyed it.

Well done Pero, great pace with the BMW, nice win ;)
Despite one spin during 4th lap, i believe, i had the luck of everybody in front spun
aswell, so, it wasnt so bad for me :P
Was a nice intense race in a nice track, i think we all did a sprint race pace ;D
Long live to GTL :D
Thanks all.
Cheers

That was the first time i have raced Kyalami, and i really enjoyed it, although didn't get much practice in and it showed...
Anyway, good driving guys - my arms are killin' now after trying to stop the 911 getting sideways , although i hope i didn't slow anyone down too much.

Man that was fun!  It was much easier to drive once I lost the guys infront of me ... the fog lifted and I took a second off my PB (from qualifying)!!!  Had a couple of off track visits to keep the pressure off, but boy oh boy was that a great track in the Capri!

Started 10th, and basically stayed there - only retirements lifting my position.

Dunno where that pace came from Bernie - thought we were evenly matched until your last flying lap in qually when you took a second off your time!  Great driving mate!

Fantastic race.

Woa that was fun  ;D

Race starting...euh...interesting. I forgot to take the car out of 4th gear when I was put on the grid, and it stalled ::). SO I had a few secs to fire it back on.
At the beginning of the race the cars infront of me drove away, as I was hauling 95L of fuel  ;D. At some point I overtook Simon and he had a hard time getting that spot back :D. But I was fighting the car more than anything else, but man was it fun. Untill 3/4 of the race my engine died  :-[.

Haha, that wasn't the only smoke coming from my car this race ;D. I also had some fishtails, as Simon called it, right before the last chicane shooting from left to right to left to right ;D.

That was totally strange. Managed a good qually lap and started the race well with a watching brief on the top 4. Sure enough the mistakes started coming and after about 6 laps I found myself in a totally unexpected lead. Held onto that for quite a while but slowly Pero and co were bearing down on me, and my front right was wearing heavily, throwing my car out of balance. Where Shark was setting fastest laps I was now 1+ seconds off the pace and succumbed after half spinning in the final turn.

After that had a little scrap in two parts with Shark who had far more pace. Did some light remodelling of our Capris before letting Shark go to defend from Assassino, but with no right front left I was powerless as he stormed through in the top hairpin loop. How anyone can go a whole race with his tyres chucking out that much smoke I don't know! :o

Mostly good fun but I should've done so much better. :-\

That was a blast. What an awesome circuit. Thanks to whoever that was that suggested it in the GTL Tracks thread. I hadn't raced it at all before so my whole practice and qually was just learning the track and getting the car setup. Knew I would be faster in the race and sure enough once I'd got going and had clear laps I was putting in 1:52s, 2 seconds faster than my qually lap.

Had some good battles, but must apologise for the small number of mistakes and taps that my naughty front bumper ;) had with people.

I must say that is one of the most detailed tracks I've come across and all the detail is well drawn too. The only thing I didn't like was the dumb chicane before the last corner ruining a perfectly good bit of tarmac. :D

Yahoo - finished my first race :)

I think I had a little tap or two also with a few other cars, but as my replay shows half the cars as invisible I cant see exactly what happened. My appologies to all those affected.

This track is a lot different to the GPL version, but really excellent all the same. Hope everybody had as much fun as I did :)

a real gas :D

This was a nice race, managed to qualy 2nd , but after start i spinned in the chicane 1st lap.

Man that vette from Ruskus was in front of me smoking the entire track, after some passes i managed to get close to Pero and the fight was on, sometimes i braked to the limit of Pero´s rear, i knowhe was lossing tyres but sudently  someone i know leaved the server that was enough for me to spin the car.
So after 4 major errors managed to finish in 4th, i know i could made a lot better since my 911 was well tunned

Sadly I couldn't be there either, didn't feel I had enough practice (20min), and had only made one hole lap in that time :-\

But Ruskus, wasn't it you who were going to use sequential gears, how did it go, or am I way off here?

I use sequential in GTR2, but for GTL I use H-pattern and heel-toe. That was a bit too heavy for the Vets engine  ;D. Also forgetting to put in into neutral when put on the grid doesn't help :D

Gated shifting really adds to the fun of GTL. Makes me 1000x times slower, but 1 million time bigger smile on my face. Now I just need to learn cars with 5 gears, as 4 is alot easier  ;D

Yes, I meant H pattern, and I guess the 5 gear is a bit more tricky, but you'd probably just rarely use the 5th. Looking forward to get my own G25, when the wallet allows, to see how this H pattern gearing is myself, and the clutch. Works fine in my car, and I'm always racing; withing the speed limit of course, so it'll be nice to try it in a race car.
