Title: UKGPL Season 39 (Autumn 2021) 1967 F1 (Works) - Le Mans - Dec 12
Post by: Rainier on December 08, 2021, 01:22:42 PM +0000
Season 39 – 1967 F1 (Works) – Round 8 – Le Mans
The eighth race in the 1967 F1 Works series will be held on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans in France. Bugatti Circuit is a permanent race track located within Circuit des 24 Heures, constructed in 1965 and named after Ettore Bugatti. The circuit uses a part of the larger circuit and a separate, purpose-built section. The sections of track on the Bugatti Circuit that are on the Circuit des 24 Heures include the Ford Chicane at the end of the lap, the pit complex, and the straight where the Dunlop Tyres bridge is located. At this point in the overlapping section of the tracks there is a left right sweep that was added for motorcycle safety in 2002. Vehicles turning to the left continue onto the Circuit des 24 Heures, toward Tertre Rouge and along the Hunaudières to Mulsanne, vehicles turning to the right at La Chapelle will continue the Bugatti Circuit. The infield section features Garage Vert, a back straight, the 'S' du Garage Bleu, and Raccordement, which joins back at the Ford chicane. The French Formula 1 Grand Prix was held on the Bugatti circuit in 1967 for the one and only time. The race was won by Jack Brabham followed by Denny Hulme, both in Brabham-Repcos, with the final podium place being claimed by Jackie Stewart in a BRM.

Hi guys,

THX a lot Johnny and  Phil - what a SURPRISE  :1eye: after that crazy days of pain!!
I didn‘t know that I’m already champion – just forgot that important sentence in our season rules: "The final championship positions will be determined after each driver has discarded their worst result."  ::)

And her my Story of the last three days:
My preparation for the race was stopped by a dramatic troubles - shock - what a disaster for an online race driver !!!
My good old race simulator gave up just before the final race. I couldn‘t believe it! The control board for steering is defect and the championship gone, I thought …
Fortunately, the reigning Champion of the German Tourenwagen Legenden, a friend of mine, has lent me his simulator.
But that means a lot of action:
assembly and disassembly of the simulators
transport
an unbelievable installation torture (THX to Axel and Stefan for your helb!)
in the end
the Logitech G27 works but know pribluda is lost ???
On the track EVERYTHING feels different with driving a force feedback wheel for the first time, seat position - ouch, pedals, ...

It will be exciting to see if I can master it until the race. In any case, I won't be able to ride at the front this time.

I hope you are all around and celebrate with me - champagne and free beer for all.  ;D
Despite all the problems I had to cope with the past days, I am looking forward to the finale season race.
cu and gn8
Uli

Good luck tonight Uli. Changing controllers is difficult, it is a good job you are not going into the final round tied on points with your rival

Hello everyone

Bravo ULI for the championship and Tristan for this new victory.

Difficult but very pleasant race last night.
I'm in LOTUS but not as fast as the front ones.
After 2 errors I passed Doni in a FERRARI, he was driving very hard and I had trouble following until the end.

Thank you to the Administrators and to all for this wonderful championship.

Bravo to our podium winners although I should think that Monsieur Bot must thanking his lucky stars considering two major gaffes along the way.

A very satisfying result pour moi.  Not quite up to my pre-race testing pace in qualifying, I started P9 but got a nice launch off the grid to gun down Syd before T1 and pick up another place as Uli was in clear difficulties with his controller.  Early on, an unidentified Lotus parked itself on my tail and menaced me to the point that trying to hold it off was counter-productive so I let him go on the pit straight.  Turns out it was Jonny recovering from an off.  Settled into a good pace chasing Alain in his Lotus til he ran afoul of the Esses and I managed to slip by.  Up to P4 after Jonny's retirement, I pressed on hard hoping to keep Alain at bay and for the most part, this was the case.  Only had one drama as I skirted the wall on the left setting up for Dunlop when I was a little careless and occupied with managing a quick sip of refreshing tea.  DOH!

Started the last lap with a decent advantage over Alain but my, didn't he put down a stonking last lap to close in and finish less than a second down.  Nice job, AM!

Also quite pleased to have bested my Ferrari PB by a couple of tenths.

My thanks to the club for organizing S39.  CYA next year!  :)

Congratulations to the podium and the unbeatable Team Lotus for the triple victory!!!

I am pleased about your many congratulations, many thanks! It's nice to have finally won a title with the 67 monsters after more than 20 years of GPL and that this was possible at the age of 67. ;)

I was very satisfied with my 7th place and very surprised with the third fastest race lap yesterday. The first three laps I drove very, very carefully. Even at the start, at the first braking point on the very outside, I was only concerned not to get involved in any collision, in order to gain as much racing experience as possible with an FFB steering wheel - I didn't have a single self-inflicted spin on this debut! Only in the fight for P8, when I got into a tangle with Syd - sry Syd, if I didn't give you enough space, but maybe you didn't see me ...?
From the middle of the race I pushed my speed and could overtake the two Gentlemen Drivers Bastian and Fulvio.
When I think about the excitement that my defective race simulator gave me, when I still thought the championship decision would fall in the last race - the stress with the borrowed race simulator was worth it now - so I had to learn FFB in 3 days! ;)
Looking forward to tomorrow, let's see how the Logitech G27 FFB feels in Monza.
After that Race I will be without a race simulator.  ??? :-\ It may take a few weeks or months – don‘t know – until we see us on the track again ....
Last but not least a big thank you to our admins, especially our moderators David Rainier and Phil Thornton (@ Phil: nice that we also won the team ranking) for the incredibly fast posting of results, replays and good organization.

I would like to say a few things about Uli's conquest.
His form in Roa America was really impressive, there he ruined the morale of the rest of the troop, winning the race with a car inferior to the Lotus he was chasing, that was impressive!!! It's refreshing to be able to witness this, he was a great champion wingspan! Congratulations Uli!!!!

Happy with yesterday's result, considering the other starters my target was P5 so I'll take P3 all day long  ;D.  Something happened to Jonny whilst he was right on my tail after his earlier off, he was much faster than me and caught me quickly after passing others.  After Jonny retired I continued my pursuit of Leo who had pulled a gap, I was braking a bit later since I thought I was being a bit too cautious.  This was generally okay but I did have a spin and a run through the gravel at the chicane...which put paid to any hopes of second (no hope of an "accident" to trigger a safety car in GPL!).  Actually liked the circuit more than I remembered from previous outings!

Congrats to champion Uli, I echo Jonny's comments regarding your drive in Road America, very impressive, would've liked to have given you a run for your money but I wasn't up to it!  Given your BL in this race it seems like you've already got to grips with the G27, I also use one, might try the stick shift next season...perhaps some of my team mates will also make an appearance!

Cheers for running the series Phil n Dave, it was great.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all,

Bob.

Congratulations Uli for the championship and thanks UKGPL for hosting it! Tough luck Jonny.

Early in the race when Jonny spun I settle for a safe pace as the nature of the track don't allow much overtaking and Bot is in the alien league. Maybe I could get lucky and I almost did.

I guess I achieved more than expected, challenging for podiums in most races. See you next season!

Grats Uli for the champ and Tris for a solid win. Sorry to Phil for the tap at T1 L1, but couldn't avoid you cause I had Bastian on my inside. Later I let you by easyly to apologize.
Thx all organizers, as usual a nice job.

Many THANKS for your congratulations.  ;D
Yes, RoadAmerica was my masterpiece. In LeMans I drove my first race with FFB steering wheel. I felt more comfortable with it in the second one yesterday in Monza. That's why my old racing simulator is not repaired (there I would have to change only the control board for steering = nP).
I will be back with a new Thrustmaster race simulator next year. FFB is simply a must - admittedly late insight - and I'm already looking forward to it hugely. :)
