I seem to recall reading sometime ago, that it is adviseable to delete other files as well as the track folders when deleting a track.  I have just deleted all the Silverstone tracks on the full motorfx Silverstone v5.0, so as to try and obviate any compability problems.  I have downloaded from your link but not yet installed it.

Advice is appreciated.

There shouldn't be any need to delete anything other than the track folder from your locations folder. All the files to do with any particular track, as far as I know, are all contained within said folder.

Sometimes you have to delete the HAT-files of the track found in your Userdata\Log\Hat folder.

Thanks for that, I remember those were the files I was hazy about. :thumbup2:

Crikey  ;D ;D

I've been getting onto two wheels  a bit as well, but I'm quite impressed that I've also been sat on 3, with the inside front wheel waaaay up in the air round a couple of the bends.

That said, I'm still rubbish (some might say a liability ;D )at this circuit/car combo, and I'm definately going to have to put some more laps in before I think about attending....

Although I can now get into the GTL Lobby neither of the leagues I race in are shown. Is this track on our server?

Is it me? :-[

well - my AI are getting 1m06. So I think 1m04 pole is quite likely. My best so far (with 25 laps fuel) 1m08.8. Dont know what its like on a light load, but i generally get slower times with light fuel loads.

as far as i know, anyone can enter these GTL events, heck we need all the drivers we can muster  ;)

Will probably attend this one, but no fan of these american trucks pretending to be race-cars, having said that they do sound great.

Hey the way Im off the pace in GTR2, a truck sounds good  :o

Im having sleepless nights trying to figure out why I am so off the pace, BUT you cant fault me for trying  :'(

I have good kit (good PC and G25) racing background, i can only believe it must be my setups or simple lack of experiance of online racing.

So long as you guys dont get too frustrated with a slow racer I will continue to push on  ;D

Good kit makes it look pretty, a good wheel makes it easier to control.  Setups will help you go faster - but practice makes you fast still.

I'm sure it'll come to you - just pile the laps in.

Download a replay, and watch the lines etc the frontrunners take, when they brake and more importantly when they get back onto the throttle.  Then try and replicate it.

In GTR2, use the time-trial function - then it'll have the line the drivers take painted on the floor!  Time trialling is fantastic to help get your times down.

Don't worry about being slow - just be consistent, the speed will come.

Guys I need some newbie help,

I went out and bought GTL this morning, but I cant get my G25 to work properly with it.

The Force Feedback is up to *&**. It either doesnt work at all or its so strong that i can barely turn the wheel.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Splintheter - If you go into the game and the FFB doesn't work, go to the GTL options and change the FFB setting, e.g. from full to high and back again to full - this seems to re-initialise the FFB.

If it's too strong, just set the FFB strength down to 70% or so in the GTL options.

In the "controler force" setup do you guys have a "basic affects" wheel selcted or have you chosen one of the "specialised effects"  choices. I have the choice of 1)Logitch MOMO Force 2) Logitech Momo Racing 3) MS Sidewinder 4) Act Labs....... but no choice for G25

My GTL is patched to v1.1 is that right?

Once again thanks for your help

I think I use one of the specialised settings, maybe Logitech Momo, I'm not totally sure. This won't have any effect on the settings being on or off, though.

Outside of GTL, does the G25 work OK? E.g. when you run the profiler, do you get the force effects when you press a wheel button?

Yes it works perectly in GTR2.   :'(

Is the feel very different in GTL? It so damn stiff for me, also If I am heading down a straight and let go, the wheel veers to the right or the left.

Its almost easier to play with out force feedback(as what i seem to be getting isnt really FF, it just stiffens up the wheel)

Its doing my head in!!

Think it might be to do with the "reverse FFB" checkbox.  Check or uncheck (depending on what it is at the moment) and give it a go.

No that sounds like GTL. They are not precision instuments like GTR2 cars, they need you to make them do anything, you're the one doing all the work unlike GTR2 where the car does a lot of the work for you.

Fun isn't it! ;D

Guys,

Once again thanks for all your help.

I have got arround it by puting the ff level at low, I checked in "WTCC the Game" and thats what it puts FF on if you choose the G25.

But You are Damn right these things are beasts to drive, loads of fun though, Im going to hop on the server now and practice my arms off.  ;D

Any sugestions on setups???

Thanks Again.

it might be shown when you use the HUD, but to be honest, I've never used the HUD so I'm not 100% on that lol.

I simply just find landmarks and do my best to check out my timer when I pass it to see if im gonna have a good or shatty lap

Unlucky splint. Its the stupid way it works in GTL, you have to join the grid within the 30? second countdown otherwise your out, so its always best to assign your race setup, fuel etc beforehand or at end of qually.

That was good fun. Wasnt going to race as dont like the yank jobs much and have been suffering with a bad back all week, not helped by trying to yank the yank around these corners. Great track though, well suited to classic car racing, so nice find Simon  8)

Qualied 7th, top 'Stang' so was happy enough with that.

Apologies to DG on warm up lap, as we came around that last tight turn onto the s/f straight, i pulled my steering wheel right off the desk and clumped your rear. I then meandered all over the road down the straight trying to steer one handed and get the wheel back on before the green light.  :o So also appologies to whoever was behind wondering what the hell i was doing. :-[
Had a cracking battle for about the first 10-15 minutes, battling with several people and trading paint, great fun. THen found myself in empty track watching the DG/Ossie titanic scrap behind me for lap after lap. When that ended i was just trawling around on my lonesome in 7th for about 10 mins, saw that we were only halfway race distance and so pulled into the pits to call it a day. Too many twinges were emanating from my back. :(
I think that race length was far too long in these old slowcoaches. 36 laps of dragging these skips on wheels is a bit too much.
Hope you all had a good 'un

Yes, it was hard finding a short track suitable for the muscle cars but this one seemed perfect, with straights to stretch the cars legs, wide track for the huge tanks and good power sliding corners.

Silverstone will be revisited later in the season for a different class and a different track layout so hope you like Britain!

Oh man that was brilliant fun. I love these cars. Track made it even more interesting.

Bara, Stuffy and me had  great battles the first 20 laps or so, swapping positions all the time. Especially the 3 3-wheelers in a row in the next to last bend was hilarious. AT some points I could only see the sky  ;D.

I don't know my tyre wear, but I think it was around 100  :D.

I can finally see the screen again, as the smile pushed my cheeks infront of my eyes  ;D

Shame Mark, was looking forward to resuming our long standing battle! I got bumped pillar to post then took avoiding action when Ossie span, had a few weird issues with the track in the race but had a whale of a time hunting people down, went from last to 8th, I got Mooman in final bend! Brill combination of car and track.

Ah, I thought something crazy must've happened. Wasn't too impressed at the time although I've had a couple of warp issues lately and wondered if that was it.

Went from 9th on the grid to dead last as the result but had some fun slashing my way up through the back few. Eventually ended up in a pitched battle with Ossie; at one point I got alongside into Copse but Ossie went into orbit and I felt a bit guilty so I waited, losing 20 seconds and 2 other places in the process. Then we got back into it and after a few laps I got properly alongside into Copse again and this time it stuck, albeit with some trading of paint.

A few laps later I did the same to Mooman and started trying to make an impression on 1p, but with about 6 or 7 to go my tyres hit 20 on the GTL-PD monitor and all the grip vanished. Spun several times and did the last lap slowly to make sure of 10th place.

There's clearly something very wrong with the track - too much grip perhaps and loads of really obvious nasty track segment joins.

Thanks lads good race.  Qualified 8th (excellent for me) but sadly finished 11th.  I had a fine battle with D Gymer for about five laps from about lap 10-15 then the brick just flipped over with a little help from Dave.  Dave slowed to let me back through and after losing a few spots I tried to push it a bit but things all started to go a bit tits up.
My wheel started to come off the desk and I started to make silly errors causing me to lose a few more positions.  Along came Madd from nowhere. Had a bit of fun with him for a while and the mistakes crept back and he passed me to take 10th.

I don't think I held up any of the aliens but if I did I appologise.  Grats to all on podium.

Bit of a messy start for me, overshot turn 1 at the start in sympathy for the guy ahead of me who did the same, and dropped to 6th place just behind Simon. I then spent the next 16 laps trying to find a way past, but it's not really possible to overtake at this track in identical cars, unless the guy ahead makes a mistake. Simon eventually did that on L16 when he spun on the exit of T1. That left me in 4th, but about 10 seconds behind 3rd place, and the rest of the race was pretty boring, the only excitement trying to lap backmarkers safely. It's a very odd track which seems to have altered gravity  :balloon: and it even gave me a cut warning for running wide on the outside of T1  ???

Congrats to the podium and on to some more interesting circuits

Yes, Simon. But you've been racing these cars longer than me. I've tried the GTR 2 demo, and I've just managed to get from pit and around the course to the finish before I get off the track. After many tries. I'm not planning on buying that until I get better in GTL.

So believe me, I need practice ;)

and dropped to 6th place just behind Simon. I then spent the next 16 laps trying to find a way past, but it's not really possible to overtake at this track in identical cars, unless the guy ahead makes a mistake. Simon eventually did that on L16 when he spun on the exit of T1.

I was quite comfortable with you behind Nev, even though I knew you were a little faster. It was making me drive at a decent pace which meant it was very hard for you to pass. Very fair driving of you not to try any lunges which would have been so easy to do. I was very annoyed with myself for losing it so pathetically out of T1. After that I lost my concentration for a bit and was driving around doing 1:09s or something. Then I caught sight of Assassino and I floored it again to try and catch up, which setup a grandstand finish on the last 2 laps, where I hoped he would make a big enough mistake for me to go by, but he didn't and I had nothing to do but just sit behind.

Yes, Simon. But you've been racing these cars longer than me. I've tried the GTR 2 demo, and I've just managed to get from pit and around the course to the finish before I get off the track. After many tries. I'm not planning on buying that until I get better in GTL.
So believe me, I need practice ;)

Fair comment Morten. Hope you get some more practice in, good to get the Sharks in there. 8)

Oh well Guess I have no one but myself to blame then for not making into the race, 30 seconds is very short though!!

Am absoloutely gutted, because unlike the 2 GTR2 Races I did this week, I was actually consistently doing 1:07's which was sort of midfield.

Well Im glad you all had a great race, and be warned you havent seen the last of me yet!!  :P

Float those boats around the corners  ;D

Had quite a fun race for the first ten laps or so, even came out on top of a four person dice through last complex and turn 1. Until a lap or 2 later I had a bit of a role, luckily landed the right way up and didn't lose to much time. Managed to run a fairly consistent pace, think I was about a sec a lap slower than the average Falcons but at least I'd look cool in the Mustang.

Lost a couple of places to IP and D Gymer, couldn't get the drive on to the back straight to keep up. Just before the end got passed by Madd RIP and unfortunately donked him a touch in the final turn, sorry. Anywayed slowed down to let him keep the place.

Good track choice and fun race.

LOL - this was the closest thing to a destruction derby i've ever been in. But that's just sour grapes cos a few times seeimg wrecks ahead i ended up getting tangled instead of passing unscathed and making up some places. Oh well.

Sort of enjoyed this anyway :)
Wow - GTR2 must be REALLY tough!

That track/car combo was TONS of fun.

I loved the 4 car battles during the first quarter of the race.

I had some white knuckled battles for 8-11th place, although my first offing was due to a certain "bump" in the rear end on the final S-turn

I caught up to the same pack again - however- my stupid Anti Virus (which actually never boots me out of games) minimized my game putting me into the wall, which obviously dropped me to last place.

Shining Moment - when there was about 6 cars going into T1 and one of them was airborn!

Yes, "Stuffy" is me, realmrpot / Stu Foster. It's a profile I use when I don't have the car in my usual profile - sorry for any confusion.

This race was great - the track is very eventful for a small 'un, and the cars suit it well. Despite all the 'just hanging on to it' moments around the long bends, it was quite a tactical race. The tyres were good for 2 or 3 laps of pushing, then it was prudent to back off 0.5 secs to let them cool down. The first half of the race was great, trading positions (and a little paint :) ) with Ruskus and Baracus. In the lead Ruskus made a part-spin at the last left-hander, and I had a small gap. BUt then, a few laps later, I did the same (pushing too hard to get away, cooking the rears too much) and Ruskus re-took the lead. I couldn't close the gap up except for the last few laps, when I suspect Ruskus had backed off, and finished second. Much fun. Our fastest laps were within a tenth of a second - no wonder it was a close race!!

(Glad to be putting these floaty boaty's back in the garage though)

Stu

Are you using Norton Internet Security? Only I've had problems with that using up all the processor power and causing me to drive straight into walls writing off my car.

If it is you can go into ??? (if this is your problem PM me and I'll give you the gen) and set up the "Update" so that it is turned off for 5 hrs.  That has sorted mine out.

better still use AVG, has virtually no CPU usage.

I use Avast. It's free, haven't had any problems with it, and I'm told it's doing it's job okay.

I'm actually using my ISP's (The company I work for hehe) AntiVirus, and it's actually never kicked me out of a game before.

Murphey's law got me today

I -as well- am working on a vid for the race and will throw it up on YouTube so you can watch it at work :D

At work we have McAfee, I can get that for free from work, but why would I. It's even more demanding than Norman. Feels like 80% CPU usage.
