Yep, had a few laps to sort out my gearing and fuel. This is going to be the toughest round of the series for me anyway, with my FOV the corkscrew is just a lottery every lap  :o

Hmm.. i need ot try some extreme setups to tame it, to try an shift the aero to the front as much as i can and try and control the rear weight bias.

you loose a lot of time if you get sucked into the sand traps here!

Just spent a couple of hours offline working on my setup and somehow became 0.7 sec slower  :hang: I think I'm in for a caning this round.

Eventually got into the 19's last night. However not only is this a tricky track and car combo, i'm also just trying to get used to the T-LCM pedalset so will be a bit inconsistent.

eh I have 45 FOV on single screen, its not optimal  ;D

I was wondering about getting those for some console racing, are they any good?

Sorry gents, was doing OK, pit but didn't take on tyres (don't remember how AC works, does taking on tyres add time to pit?) as I was waiting there for the 50L to go in I figured I might as well have put on the tyres <shrug>, anyway, post pit I had a brain fart on the main straight and drove into the wall for no damn reason other than taking my eyes off of the road and bent the car to $hit :/

Bad luck there Alex. You need to set your pitstop up before race. From the last page in the setup options just enter the amount of fuel required and be sure to choose the tyre compound and tyre pressures if you want to change tyres. Everything is then just automated when you enter your pitbox.

Not sure what happened at the end of the formation lap but I was hit hard from behind and shunted into the back of Mark which gave me aero damage front and back and flat spotted my tyres before we'd even started racing  ::)

Race was tough and I was lucky to come away with 2nd place here. My flat spots just got worse throughout the first stint and I could hardly feel any ffb because of the wheel rattle. Was a relief to get some fresh rubber at the pitstop and my second stint was more consistent.

Congrats to Max on the win, impressive pace as usual. I must have a look at my view settings, I run a 27" monitor with an ingame FOV of 31 which is correct for my distance to the screen. It makes judging apexes tricky but having the FOV any greater just kills the immersion for me and feels like I'm not "in the car". A bigger widescreen curved monitor would certainly help but I don't have the budget for anything like that currently.

Well I enjoyed that race, after some practice this weekend I've found a better setup for the car and now I'm driving it rather than being driven to avoid the dreaded instant spin it has by default.  I still managed to potato about 10 laps in or something and dropped it into T2 with a half spin (dont brake / turn in on the kerb!), throwing away the lead I'd built till that point. Spanner came storming around the corner just as I was getting under way again, luckily 0.5s too late to actually pass me.

I gambled pre-race and started on a full tank with my pitstop setup to only splash and dash enough fuel to get to the end, but by half distance I could feel the tyres going away and so I pitted early and had to mess about finding the k/b and changing it do the tyres too as I dawdled down the pitlane at 10mph  :D

Fun cars they are, and it's nice to have an all american series for a change. I look forward to the rest of the races  :)

I've been there and tried it all, triple screens, those megawide curved screens, VR, and now back on 55" TV LOL

VR has the best immersion but can be a pita not working at all or correctly on some games
Triple screens is next, but again some games just dont work or have the correct settings so you end up with a weird distorted view on the side screens
Megawide curved is good, BUT although you get great FOV its like looking through a damn postbox as the screen height is no better than a normal 16:9 27" screen and everything is tiny still

Big TV is my current fav, it just works in any game without any stupid tricks.  I run a custom res to get a bit wider FOV at the price of a small black band top & bottom, but the screen is so huge you can get away with it.  The bonus is its so large things are almost life size which really helps. I'd be tempted to try triples in this size but I have no space for it and I'd need some mega GPU from the future to push that many pixels and get 120fps...

I NEVER use the calculated FOV though, not that its wrong, but I just get better results by adding a bit more, say an extra 10% ish...

From the highs of running second for most of the first half to being lapped on the last lap!

Having not done too many laps I had no idea tyre wear was going to be an issue. As other pitted and re-joined it looked like they were really quick stops so fuel only, hadn't realised people had decided to change tyres! I thought i'd side on the optimisim and think they would last....
I also find it difficult to judge the fuel amount needed so probably put more in than needed.

I was fine on my own on a lap, but around others my hesitancy actually made things worse so did ending up having a few offs! But probably the most laps of driven in this car having got a reasonable setup in the setup limits available. Running HDF and louvers and low wing helps shift the aero balance forward and found having far more rebound damping helped control the body movement.

The pedals are going ot take time ot get used to... You actually have greater control of your foot for braking when only worried about a soft pedal position than when trying to compress a stiff pedal! i need to build my leg muscles up!
