Hi Axel

I just registered for this series (less than 75% of the races).
I think you will count me among privateers  ;)

I've only ever driven here in the Ferrari. I think it may be the Porsche or Alfa this time but which one? It's harder to choose than to learn the circuit.

This track is very fast! So I would take the faster Porsche....
Alfa for the Targa ;)

I'm saving the Porsche for later  ;D

What's the ultimate tyre temp for Alfa? I know it's 28 psi for the Porsche and 32 for all other "big" cars. What about the Alfa?

Oh man, you're wondering about tyre pressures....I've done about 4 laps ( & a million shift+rs!), car choice for me seems irrelevant! Tomorrow's gonna be a blast  ;)

The same here Fulvio.....I watched your crash in quali and got dumped back to desktop immediately. The server would not accept rejoins so that was the end of my fun  :-\

Going really fine. great fun.  but sadly clipped the kerb while going up onto the mountain for the 2nd and last time and as car lifted up in the air I sadly crashed...

straight into my Window 10 desktop. All the airbags went off and that was the end of my race on the island. LOL.

i really like this track, warrants some praccy for the next time i think.  i might also try the pace notes and corner signals.

i actually remember it from 30 years ago when as a younger man i rode far too fast around the island on my BMW R100RS.  ah, memories, Mad Sunday.

I spend most sundays now on the Settee.

Now you know why i was at the back... next time i will take the 2 seater sofa, the 3 seater has very bad drag.  Should see much improved speeds on the straights next time.

i may even remove some stuffing and thow away the cushions..

I had 29 liter left - let's hope all Works driver got it  ;D

Grats Phil great drive!

Shame on the CTDs - I ask if you have the "track gap patch" activated? But it is a pretty fragile track...

OMG my car felt so heavy - now I looked into the mechanical report and found that I had from the 12th min an engine problem - I was thinking it's the fuel load...

Axek I had the TGP activated.
Sorry Clive that I brought you with me  :(
Every time I crashed spinning or rolling game CTD also offline. In Q I crashed at 5 min to the end of Q and went to Desktop, then I rejoined and went for some practice again to try some setup modify trying to not crash again, but it happened again when the Q time was already gone. I think that is a camera problem like at Hocknheim as Clive had the same problem watching me while I was crashing.

Sorry, I have checked and I hadn't the Track Gap Fix activated in SC mod. I acivated and tried the game again, fatality I crashed in the same spot as in race practice and GPL CTD. I dowloaded server replay and watching my crash at 5' 30" fom the end of Q from the external view the game didn't crash, rewind and shift on in car view the game crashed. Instead watching replay of my last crash when the practice was already over at the right hairpin game didn't crash.  ???
Clive were yuo watching me from in car view when I crashed?
Thx and sorry

Clive

No probs Fulvio, stuff happens. But yes, I was watching from in your car when you crashed at the Selby Bridge. I have the TGP active and I had multiple crashes earlier in the day when practising on the server, without any CTD's.

Whilst watching Fulvio to finish quali my car was resting and waiting for the race start. I had no problems before that moment, in fact I had actually completed my FIRST EVER lap of the IOM without any crashes only gently brushing 2 grass banks. Just a shame it was an "out lap" and did not count. Not too bothered about qualifying as I would not have been competing with the leaders.

Grats to Phil and the podium. Any win ( or podium) around here is a huge accolade   :notworthy: :notworthy:

I'm very pleased with a win here on what is one of my favourite GPL tracks. Jim Pearson is a genius, his creation is a masterpiece.

It is almost impossible to pass safely here so I knew pole position would be vital. I made a few mistakes on my first qually lap but I was still in P2 behind Tris. I knew I had the pace to improve but whether or not I had the speed for pole was a different matter.  I figured Tris would be able to improve too so I was monitoring him on Pribluda as we circulated on our second qually lap. To my relief he disappeared from Prib about half way around the lap and so I knew he couldn't improve. I managed to complete the lap without too much drama and bagged pole. First part of the job done :sweatdrop:.

I had read Axel's race post stating a max speed of 62mph which seemed very slow but I tried my best to stick to it. I think the slow pace caught Tris by surprise too, he nearly passed me at the start. Anyway there didn't appear to be any problems with the rolling start and we all got away cleanly. Tris had a spin at Quarter Bridge which gave me a chance to make a break. On my replay, Tris' F10 view is behind the straw bales so how he chose exactly the right moment to cross the track and get out of the way of David Rainier was incredible. I managed to pull a bit of a gap on Cookie so I tried to drive carefully and not crash. Everything was going to plan until I got to the 33rd on lap 2. I clipped the grass and spun but I didn't leave the track or need a reset, so I was very lucky :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop:. However, it did lose me the best part of 10 seconds which cost me the fastest lap  :(. A win and P2 for Cookie was a great result for Antipasti  :thumbup2: Grats to Tris on P3 and the fastest lap, you must have been on the ragged edge to post that time, well done  :thumbup1:. I'm not used to being in the Pro group so I forgot to check my fuel at the end of the race, but I started with 23 gallons which I think was enough for 2 laps plus 6 gallons ballast. I didn't need any resets so I assume I had 6 gallons left at the end of the race.

I've had CTD problems here (even with the Track Gap Patch installed) if I crash heavily. The patch works fine if you keep the car on the track but the scenery is full of holes so a crash into the hedges is likely to cause problems. I've been bumped out of races before (not just here) when watching other drivers in qually so I rarely do that now. It is too risky, however from what Fulvio says it looks like the problem only occurs with the in-car view. If so I won't worry too much in future and only watch other cars in F10 mode.

I think it's about time I report on my races, even if they have been inconsequential. First of all, I must say that I had no problems at all in qualifying or in the race (not counting my own clumsy driving). No frozen screen, no CTD, just a drop in fps when I was close to another car (the brake light patch is fantastic!). Two strange things: the first lap of qualifying, my exit from the pits was BEFORE the start line, so PRIBDULA was showing me the parcial lap times, but after the first lap the board didn't show me any time, I got distracted and crashed the car. In qualifying I had no lap times. The second strange thing that affected me in the result because I lost a place there: in the last corner, Govenor's Bridge there is a big stone at the exit, when I hit it the car was stuck!!!! I had to do 5 or 6 shift+R to finally get out. Thanks for organising these championships!

@Claudio

the start+ finish line is after the pit exit, so to finish a lap you must drive minimum to the bridge after the pit exit ;)

Bravo to Phil for a brilliant win!  Top marks.  And no resets!  Admirable.

Ditto for Axel to score a fine P2 again with no resets.  Well done.

I had a CTD in qualifying as I sat in pit lane but managed to get back in time for the race.  Pity that Evil and Fulvio didn't.  Bad luck there, gys.

I was having a good run til mid-way through Lap02 when my vision started to give out.  Things started getting kinda foggy with increasing difficulty to focus and I don't know the Mountain that well to begin with.  Really annoyed that this lead to my missing a tight left-hander late in the lap which got me stuck on some pylons.  This let Pete by for a position.  Had to use a reset to continue.  With the finish almost in sight, I came across Pete stuck in a difficult hairpin.  Sorry, Pete.  Couldn't avoid.  It was somewhat hilarious to see each of us trying to extract ourselves from the predicament.  Coming home P5 not half bad.

Congratulations Phil, Axel, and Tristan! Well done Phil!

I´ve still got a lot to learn. I´m lucky if I can remember as many as 1/4 of the turns. I´m not having spectacular crashes that crash GPL much now. I needed about 10 resets to complete two practice laps and the 2 race laps. Thanks Axel. There would not have been much reason for me to join if I was limited to 1 reset.

I finished with 14 gallons Axel. I used 4.5 gallons on my qualifying lap so I thought if I got lucky I might use as much as 5 gallons per lap so I loaded 16 gallons to start.

the start+ finish line is after the pit exit, so to finish a lap you must drive minimum to the bridge after the pit exit ;)

My outlap was recorded by Pribluda but the server didn´t record it. I had to drive a second lap to post a time.

Thanks for the fun guys and thanks for helping me learn the track a little better.

It´s a shame that Fulvio and Clive didn´t get to race.

I saw two humorous things. I was watching the TV view as practice was ending. I think the last two cars on the track were Pete and Bob. They both spun simultaneously even though they were miles apart. The other funny thing was somehow miraculously I had an early lead, but it didn´t take me long to wreck. Instead of running wide like I usually do I clipped the inside barrier removing my left rear wheel. I was very relieved to easily spin the car off the racing line making it rather easy for the other drivers to pass my crappy tricycle. That early wreck eliminated any concern I had about how I was going to get out of Phil, Axel, and Tristan´s way. I had no intention of trying to hold any of the faster drivers behind me.

It´s good to see almost all the drivers that could start finished the race.

I´m wondering now if Bob, Clive, and Dave did the wisest thing. They got the slow Mark 1 out of the way. That might have been a good thing for me to do. I went with the slowest, good handling car hoping it would reduce the number of wrecks I had. It was a nightmare when I tried to run the Lola in the fun race we had.

Take care guys.
