you "may" have a date? you may not get back in time? and you're sorry?  ::) Am I missing something here?  ??? that's a clear case of negativism!!!! you WILL have a date, you WILL be back very late if at all and you will NOT be sorry.  8)

show no fear, they can smell it and don't forget about appropriate rubber (soft compound, you can go for hard one, you know, endurance oriented later on)

Any masters planning on driving this one in the bouncy castle (GT2)? Was up for a race earlier, but won't join if no Masters do, or if the server looks like it's getting full. Not fair on the guys with full spots.

EDIT: Nevermind - just found out champ car's are on at 20:30  ;D

Unlucky lincescom good battle early on although gave me a mighty scare into T1 as your car to me was just sitting in the middle of the track.

My race - excellent result considering I had been so busy that basically had not done more than 10 laps practice so took the Anderstorp setup I had and used that, well pleased with class pole, then seemed to be doing alright in the race, not getting too far away but nice gap.

Obviously though have something to learn about pitting. Thought about filling up completely, but went for a 50-50 race, fuelling and changing tires. This cost me the race as the I just could not make the time up - especially after getting caught up in the biggie.

Guess Adam and Pops both did a stop and go pit, will have to try that next time

Cheers

What a great race that was! Congrats to Adam on a fine drive :thumbup2:

Apart from the pit-stop I was about 4-5s behind Adam for the whole race. I couldn't make any impact so I just hung on in there hoping to make up the place on Nick in the pits which I did but I don't think I'll be doing so again ;)

Another Vertigo 1-2-3 8)

What a frustrating race event for me! :hang:
Recently my pedals were malfunctioning again and I glued the pots again. I thought it would last at least a few weeks but I discovered tonight that it did not help.  >:( I get spikes on the brake pedal or the throttle several times a lap. Sometimes I was even slower than one of the GT2s. So qualifying was nothing to gain for me and I had no mind to race at all but thought I could give it a try.
The race started very good. Great action! And when I was 1st I thought: now that is not too bad after all. Unfortunately it would not last long. I lost up to 4 seconds a round because of the pedal problem and they just shoot passed.
I have no idea how to make the following races... :-\

Grats to podium nonetheless and thanks for the racing action! This league has excellent drivers!

Yep Lincescom scared the "bejesus" out of me, and I bounced off the static car to go wide and let Pops through .... didn't seem to be any harm done to the car though.  Got by / was let by by Pops, and then tried to make up time on Nick.....hardly denting the lead until a few mistakes (tyre related I'm guessing) brought me up behind.  Pitted a lap after Nick (before what was left of the GT field came by ....) and clocked a 10.2 pitstop.  What a difference to S4 and my M3, no fuel needed, no tyres needed ...... love it.  That's what won me the race, although with Nick on mediums all round and fueled to the finish - who knows how it might have turned out.

After Pops pitted I was at the front of the pack (and praying I wouldn't cock it up) and thankfully managed to stay there - finishing with a mere 16 litres ..... :)

No close battles as such, but with Nick, Pops and myself running such similar times ..... it was a battle all the way.

Loved that race, cheers guys. Thanks to the GT's - no problems with them coming by ..... hopefully I didn't cause you too many headaches round the twisty bits.

That was tough! - i worked my way up to 13th from 21st, had a few position swaps with gerald and ginsters, but going quite well, and was really happy with the set up.
I started on soft fronts, med rears, with a view to go two thrids of the race, then pit and fill up and go out on softs all round. This worked ok untill i pulled out of the pits, and within a minute was hit side on by an M3 - don't know who it was, but that was it after that. back in pits for repairs, and finished 17th  :'(.

Anyway, not to worry - at least i found a good set up for the RSR @ Silverstone.

Good race all  8)

Sorry for the big contact as well will. Just couldn't avoid you.

I have come back for one last apology. Also I think I may have touched Ginsters car in the opening laps, Sorry Ginsters.

Boy was I cursing you as I sat facing the rest of the field steam by, but I'm over it now. Thanks for the apology and as you know you made a mistake no need to take it any further. Just get the bloody wheel fixed so we can clash (not literally) again. :)

At that point my finger was hovering over the escape button, but very glad I didn't quit. It was an absolute blast battling back through the field ;D. Stand out fights with TT, will, eddie and Gerald. Had to work bloody hard to pass which made it great fun.

Congrats to the vertigo podium. And thx to GT boys who all behaved well, especially Mark who seemed to catch me at the wrong point everytime. Although got ask wtf was going on in warm-up lap? Going 110 to keep up ???

Enjoyed that plenty of good battles in the race with various drivers. Backo seemed to be having it easy and was too quick for me. No idea what happened to him though?

Had Dirk right up my backside but could hold him off. Got caught out with a back marker again. I made a move to go inside him and allow him the racing line, but he slowed and moved into my path. No contact but I had to lift right off for a few seconds and Dirk made the most and passed. Still having difficulty with understanding how to approach back markers as very few act the same

Picnic was putting me under great pressure and I think was caught up with a few cars that had crashed. There was a few cars across the track and I went for a space and I guess Picnic never manged the same. Up to then it was very close, even at the pit stop where I just got out ahead. Lost a few seconds in pits having repairs carried out again with another rear ender!

I had a bit of luck at pitstop. I entered the pit only to find Gerard in my pit bay. Luckily he moved the very second I arrived. Nice timing! Not the first time I have been caught out by this but at least I never lost time on this occasion.

After pit stops I found myself behind Jure. He pitted very late and with low fuel intake managed to jump me. Nice tactics there. His car was struggling for grip and I managed to pass him on cold tyres.

Built up a few seconds lead and was happy to ease off the revs a little and pace myself.

Good race everyone, unlucky Picnic as was a good battle going on.

what a nightmare that race turned out to be  :(

After being away on my hols for a week i completely missed the posts about the circuit change (to this rF one) and spent 40 mins before the race practising on the wrong version of silverstone  ::) which i only discovered when i tried to join the race in the lobby  :o

Then found the new version a whole lot tighter than the Simbin one and struggled throughout qually trying to relearn the tracks bite points.
Lap 2 of the race i had a full speed double 360 into the barriers getting heavy body damage and a rear puncture right on the s/f straight so had to crawl a full lap with 3 wheels  :-[
Spent rest of race lapping on my own and lapping the GT2/GTC class cars, who all got out of the way nicely. I wanted to thank people but both my headlights were smashed !  :(
I finally got myself upto 6th place, pitted for my standard stop and the stupid game gave me a stop and go despite it being on auto-pit >:(...dropped to 9th and didnt even catch Pops and Adam in their little vertigos in my 50 pence shaped Masserati....oh the shame  :-[ :D
Well done to the points winners, i'm slipping out the back exit to Silverstone. ;)

Well done to the winners and finishers. Another frustrating race for me. Qualy I had major FPS probs, so apologies to anyone who I got in the way of. Anyway, managed to get in one good lap (I made sure I connected using ISDN).

Strangely there were no FPS problems in the race!?! However....after some good scraps at the back where I made it upto about 14th, I then messed it up and damaged the car. The pit stop seemed to take ages with the old 'Sit tight ' message being a tad worrying. Then I get a stop go penalty on exit, even tho I used the limiter?? And worse of all I decide to pit on the next lap but the back flag doesn't go away on exit, so I carry on till I get a pit message telling me to pit for my stop/go,.. so I do, thinking this will fix it. But the black flag still doesn't go away and on the next lap I get a DQ for ignoring the stop/go  ??? By that time id wasted minutes on pit stops anyway but it would have been nice to let me finish given the effort put in to practice and racing.

GTR seems to have cost me a few places again this week :-\. Oh well, Im determined not to give up... :)

Frustrated, couldn't get anywhere near my PB of 142.3 in qually.  Locked up on warmup lap and veered towards rumble strip after cars in front decided to to come to near standstill after accelerating away. Rejoined in 16th I think and tried to push like hell to catch GT1's back up.  Should have known better on cold med fronts and hard rears as the car had hardly any traction.  Tried to take a beemer on the inside on turn one hit yet another slippery rumble strip and got spat out onto the grass.

Will have to remove my escape key for next race as I have a tendancy to reach for it nearly every time out of frustration.  Grats to Podiums of each class will see you all again soon.

That was one great race!
I was dead lucky to avoid a few spinners early on and then I settled into a rhythm that I was able to keep up for the rest of the race. Didn't have any epic battles but manged to keep it neat and tidy and happy to have kept it error free this time.
Pitted for tyres only but knew that Pops and Adam were on a stop/go pit stop strategy only so knew I had no chance of making any time up on them in the pits :( Those Vertigo's seem to be in a class of their own on these twisty tracks!..and not needing to change tyres or take on fuel makes them an even more viable bet. But hats off to those guys they drove one super consistent race to make it another Vertigo 1,2,3.

Good job by the GT's. Looked like you guys were having great battles.
I did have to laugh when Marks Masser seemed to be more beaten up each time he came past me.
Grats to the winners and podiums, great race.

It's not a lobby/backup lobby thing is it. Our Practice server should be there*, can you see it now?

*I have no idea which lobby it launches into as Simbin didn't see that was important on the dedi server!

What a fun qually, finally got into the 1:41 bracket (just) but 0.037 off pole was only good enough for 3rd. Trouble is, like the sprint race, my setup doesn't really last that long so I was disappointed when Dirk got me on cold tyres at the start. Backo out front seemed to be able to pull away from us and after half a dozen laps Kerr seemed to lose some grip and Dirk gave him a hard time, and I caught them up. Jure also managed to close the gap to me.

Then we came across the slower cars, brilliant job chaps. I think we were lucky often with where we caught you but on several occasions I saw people going beyond the call of duty. Towards the end of the first stint I was really struggling with rear end grip, ended up following Kerr into the pits. Being the last pit box it was really hard to get out, I wasn't sure I could get out before Kerr so I let him go rather than cause an accident. Then the chase resumed.

I lost a couple of seconds to him behind a GT1 we were lapping but then it all went wrong. I got caught out by the big accident mentioned earlier. Thought I had a run through but as I was passing all the wreckage a BMW suddenly appeared broadside across the track in fron of me. Could miss it and lost most of the front left of the car. Funny bit is pit crew telling me I've lost a wheel expect some understeer!

After the rubbish performance in the sprint race I drove much better this time. Congrats to all the podiums

Right. :)

Had a not-so-cool quali, but no matter, my race strategy was 100L on medium medium + 16 laps on soft/medium in 2nd stint. Running rear wing 11, btw.

Race started well, I could keep pace with lead group  (P2-P4, BACKO instantly dissappeared into the distance, as expected) while avoiding trouble and conserving tyres (fronts being a bit underinflated to cope with pressure/temps in 2nd stint on fresh soft fronts). Tactics worked perfectly (I even let BACKO by after his spin since it was obvious it would be contraproductive to block him, was much faster then I thus we would both lose time, same goes for Sam passing me some 4-5 laps before my pits although I let him by just to see him go into the pits, we both lost a second or two due to it, but no matter.  ;D ).

Last two laps prior to pit stop ruined my chances for race victory, caught a group of 4-5 NGT cars involved into some serious racing, all of them acting like a bunch of Asian giant hornets on acid  :o ;D, so I went about passing them VERY carefully, thus blowing some 8-10 seconds in two laps.

Made a fast pit stop and came out in the lead, right in front of Kerr's screaming Lambo. Being sitting duck on stone cold tyres I let him by, figuring I can catch him once tyres get up to temp. Big mistake. Matching his pace was no problem, catching him was another matter.  ;D

Had two "moments" with highly enthusiastic but a bit overanxious Sam and finished in 2nd.

Not bad, could be better with some practice.

P.S. I've noticed (prior to race start, i.e. start of practice 1) practice server being on warmup, 2 players in game, couldn't join for some 20 mins. Is that normal?

I thought it was pretty cool when the skies started to darken about 15-20 mins into the race, it was a tense few laps waiting to see if it was going to rain and my tiny brain whirring away trying to calculate what to do about it if it did! :D

My first thought was to back off because taking advantage out of such situation would be a bit unfair but then I thought with my pedal problems you would catch me somewhere later anyway. Which you did (later), coming out onto the straight my brake pedal had a peak, killing all of my speed and you just shoot by like I was waiting for the bus... :-[

I almost forgot that I hit a BMW frontally after he was involved in, what looked like, a big crash. Did not drive to the pit for repair but that ruined my race completely.

But racing with picnic and Brian (until I pitted) was superb and made it worth to show up. ;)

Yep - my brain was whirring at a mile-a-minute then too.  Would have certainly made things a little more interesting if it got "mildly moist" - as my average tyre temps were no higher than about 70.  Only the front left ever got above 80.

Cheers for the lapchart Ruskus - always makes for interesting reading.

You can only join the server during practice or qualifying sessions. Once the warm up or race has started you can't get in. It happened a few weeks ago and the people like myself who wanted to join practice were locked out.

I think it needs highlighted to all members to stop this from happening

Everyone else would take advantage of the situation including me. It's not the first time it's happened to me and I'm sure when I get the chance to pull off the same,  I will.

Perfectly fair and acceptable

Sorry I missed the race guys. I jumped onto the server about 5 ish and after about half a lap realised I had no depth perception on my left side and a funny felling in my hands and feet Start of a Migraine  >:(. Caught it early so it only knocked me out for about 6 or 7 hours except for the banging headache I now have.

Anyway here is hoping for better luck next time

It was a good race, just unfortunate that crash wiped you and Picnic out. I did not notice at first you were involved but after watching replay I see now.
It was a bad accident with cars bouncing all over the place.

I was disappointed to be in the clubman and not masters this season bit after two races I can now say the opposite. Last year between all my daft mistakes, computer updates cutting in etc the only person I can really recall having good fun with was Freq.

Was a bit worried that with Freq in masters now it would not be the same but now there is a whole host of drivers capable of winning. Last time out 7secs between top 4 and this time it would have no doubt been the same again if the above accident did not happen.

Backo seems very quick but after two engine failures in two races. both happening early doors, I think he is running too fast for endurance and hopefully when he eases off his set ups to last, it will bring him back down by a few tenths a lap.

Take CJ and Ruskus out the equation and there is numerous drivers in the clubman series capable of strong finishes in the masters. Looking forward to the next race

This is my first campaign in the top class and I need to find a bit more consistency but I'm pleased my raw pace is ok.

Backo I think is running too close to the limits, in qually he was smoking as his engine was too hot (please peeps don't do this) and I saw his firery end in my mirror.

Hi there,

it's true that I'm trying to get maximum from car every race and qualif.,but before race I did some set up on my car also I put revs down, but not enough ;),such a shame :'( ,because I love this track so much :).But is comming UKGTR Season 5 GT2/GTC Sprint  and that is very important for me so I have to be careful there!See ya on track! :P

I used to run with 2 radiator openings in qualy as well, which meant I was smokin' for some of the lap. But any time I would make up from having less drag, I would lose out of concentration from that idiot pit mechanic telling me my engine is overheating! So now I don't like to smoke, ever :P
It's surprising how little you need to change the car to make it much more reliable. BTW, grats peeps

Hi Picinic the lap chart and the report show me as climbing from last place up to 11th which is where my race readout was. as I said the stupid game dq me for driving down the club circuit back to the pits as we used to do for real.I was just lapped by a yellow vertigo and followed it over the line and then down the club track. I think it was adam parle and they must have seen me.cheers gerald

I thought we used to have a rule or something to stop people doing this, not that I can see it. It is certainly unfair to the cars following who have great difficulty seeing the track  :-\

Ok, we will have to get Dave to look at this when he gets back then.

Nope, the yellow Vertigo was Nick.  Me and Pops were in the dashing blue Legends car, and then there's the tartan KC cars.

Ok have looked and I think the game did not see me pass start finish although it said race finished as I crossed the line and the cheuquer flag had shown all last lap.prehaps it will show on replay?gerald ps the cars that were elevated by my dq are defiantly the ones I was racing with as I remeber two green vertigos one in front a porsch red and another green vertigo

Hi again have looked at replay and it shows me in 11th when the yellow vertigo and myself crossed the line he slows right down and I did same? so assume race had finished for him and me lapped, I think the car in what would now be 12 was about 8 secs behind me. cheers gerald

Gerald's position has been restored - unfortunately the game isn't very smart about dealing with stuff after the flag. :-\ It turned out to be  a more complex job than I expected because he also ran off in the Maggots/Becketts complex and the game did not record his final lap time in the export. ::)
