Title: UKGPL Season 40 (Spring 2022) 1965 F1 - Falkenberg - Mar 8
Post by: EvilClive on March 07, 2022, 01:19:34 PM +0000
Season 40 takes us on a Scandinavian based competition with a few excursions into other Northern countries.

Round 5 takes us to Falkenberg. A short track but it has some tricky corners which you need to get right to post a fast lap. This is a short lap length so there will be quite a few cars being lapped which requires that ALL drivers are aware of cars around them.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.
Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Handicapping
Drivers are required to drive all 7 cars and no car can be driven more than twice.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 reported incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Unlimited resets will be allowed with no need to make a S&G in the pit lane.

Having just put some laps in - you are right!
Any enjoyment is likely to tail off once the lapping starts around lap3-4 (if I can hold it off that long!)

One lap equal more or less 41 seconds for the best drivers.
That means I will spend more time to look at the mirrors than at the track   :(

As some of you have noticed, this circuit is shorter than many that we use.
But, because it is short, it offers a challenge to drivers of all abilities.

There will be multiple times when the faster drivers will need to lap slower cars, so would ALL drivers please read and understand the UKGPL guidelines for lapping slower cars.

DO NOT EXPECT CARS THAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO LAP TO THROW THEMSELVES OFF OF THE ROAD.

THE SLOWER CAR SHOULD NOT DELIBERATELY IMPEDE THE LAPPING CAR,

BUT, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FASTER CAR TO MAKE A SAFE PASS.

If I remember this little ring correctly, most easily accomplished by yielding into T1. Trying to let a car past anywhere else, not as easy <--- understatement.

No server on Igor?

Looks like server dropped from iGOR list.
Please try connecting from GPL multiplayer option to the IP address shown in the event info.

Good luck!

thanks to the car that just could not wait just a FEW YARDS MORE..    i was just about to enter the main straight.. i would have given loads of room as i had been at all other times when being passed.

I may not be the fasted out there, but i was making decent and safe enough speed for this not to happen yet again..  just becuase im one of the sloiweer guys why should race after race be spoiled for me.

not best pleased ro be honest.

well that could have been better. i wanted to get the position back and tried to go with leader while he was lapping.

i felt contact with pete and thougt i was too optimistic. so i slowed down to let repass, but it was already tom.
So lost again :)

After the replay, i think the move was ok Pete. Anyway, sorry that you spun.

good fun race nevertheless

Bastian and Tom... how exciting was that? Awesome fun.  ;D

Bastian, sorry about the bump as I was letting Yannick through to lap. Glad to see that you got away with it. My fault for shutting the door on you too soon. I managed to crawl my way back up the field but then I span on lap 63 of 64 and had to settle for 7th position.

Phew! Now I can breathe again.

See you next time.

Sorry Paul, I waited for your move over already before last turn, and then I thought you had moved over after the turn on accelerating. My misdjudge.  :( Anyway I lost position for that crash and had some damage, but continued. Why didn't you reset and go on?

Sorry to return on this, but I watched my replay and you lifted out of last turn just before the haybails inside where we are supposing to go full throttle accelerating. I were just behind you and couldn't avoid you. Anyway sorry if I ruined your race. :(

Hey Fulvio... nothing personal ok.

But it's just not nice having race after race being just one problem after another.

See you all next time.

First, sorry Clive for running you wide at T1 on the start, I lost track of you while following Pete. I saw in the replay, that after I ran you off the track, when you tried to rejoin you suffered contact and loss of positions. Very sorry Clive, I think we would have had a close race in the BT7's. Thanks for the fun racing Bastian, Pete and Eric! Dave Curtis, sorry I spun exiting T1 in front of you and almost came to a complete stop in the middle of the track before I could get going again. Glad you were able to avoid any contact.

Yeah great racing. @pete and Tom.

You could both go faster, but its really hard to overtake here.

Grats to Yannick and the podium, it was a relief to see that most people finished the race. Bad luck to those who did not reach the flag.

Although this track is short, it is quite challenging to get it absolutely right for lap after lap as many discovered. It always seemed to me that getting slightly out of line through one corner would screw up the next and lose time, especially through T2 -T3!! My setup was also a little fragile and my front left would overheat if I tried to hard..... and thus lost more time  :-\.

We have a few more interesting ( and more conventional) circuits still to come in this series, so there is still much to compete for.
