I reckon the faster guys will be into the 54s in race trim; I'm struggling to get under 1:54 in timetrial mode in the Corvette.

Nice enough race but I made another contact with my Team mate from the Senior team.....Really sorry mate :( Apart from that  I had a few spins and thought I was gonna run out of fuel. Finished with 0.9L, was watching my fuel gauge and ran off the track also :-[ ;D. I just couldn't go for another race in the MC12. I found it to hard to handle once the tyres had worn. Just decided to go back to what I knew in the Lambo. Nice race all. Cya next time :)

It'll be a classic tyre war race. Whomever manages to build a setup permitting soft fronts/medium rears will run 1.53.5 race pace (at least, aliens should have fastest lap waaaay under 1.53).

Medium fronts/hard rear (endurance choice, be sure) will put you on 1.54.5 on 100L of fuel (in a F550). ;)

Rear wing on, erm, 7-8 or so.

I made major progress in a short test this morning, getting the unballasted C5R down into the mid 53s in timetrial trim. Hopefully I will chop another half a second at least off that tomorrow now I know what direction to take the setup in.

I'm still struggling for pace (Maserati this time) - but racing GT1's was all about getting experience.  It's the Clubman Enduro I'm really invested in.

Is there still a free car swap, as I'd like to switch from the Saleen to the Viper  ;D?

I'm struggling here. Looks a great track but I can't even seem to nail a complete good lap, always a little wide here, a little wobble there.
Was thinking of giving it a miss as not doing to well, but I think maybe a few laps under my belt in proper race mode might help me.

Hope the servers run on time tonight, I'm nighshift starting at 9.45pm. So 40min race plus time to complete last lap=late.

Luckily work is only a few minutes away

Back from hols with not much setup time and went in thinking a top ten would be an outside chance at best! Managed to get on the server an hour before and got a qual set up. Managed to smash my PB by miles and ended up third which was unbelievable. Went with Med-Hard for the race and car was very ragged early on. Had a good race with Baracus, Mark, Freq and Bernie early on but they all dispatched me pretty easily and the first 2 drove off into the distance straight away! Bernie had a spin and then freq too a lap or so later. Zacari was catching and got passed easily in the last few laps but well chuffed with 6th. Will hopefully be able to increase race pace for the enduro. Congrats to Jeff and the rest of the podium.  :)

After the testrace at Donnington, I started to find the Viper awesome and with some setuptweaks I could get it driveable(basically the diff settings down alot).

I started doing some laps in the Saleen, but because I use that car for 2 hour races at S.nl, I'm already starting to know that car inside out, and I wanted something different. Hardly ever driven the Viper anywhere else than Donnington and some laps at Estoril. SO I picked my Esoril setup and tried some laps. I was slower than in the Saleen, which didn't surprise me. But at the end of qually, I got a perfect lap out and take pole position in 1:51.5. Totally unexpected as I was hoping for a top 5 startspot.

The first half of the race was good for me, as Leuv and Bara were fighting eachother, which gave me a gap of 6s. When Bara overtook Leuv, I had to focus to keep the gap at 6s, as there was no way of increasing it. Till the end the gap stayed the same, but Bara always kept me on my toes.

Great race for me, and huge fun in the Viper ;D

Started 17th and car was feeling great, lap2 came arround corner straight into a stationary car done a few hundred flips and landed on Dave(need to have a look in demo, i got some height lol). Dave had to pit as he had major damage, but i didnt seem to have any but after a few laps i noticed that my top speed was very low so must of had something fly off. Those where the only cars i seen the whole race, 40mins of driving alone aint fun lol.

grats to podiums.

PS: check demo at time 332 and give me marks out of 10 for my flips lol

 :jumpjoy:

Awesome race.

Was well pleased with my qually time, a good chunk taken off my PB.  Had a solid start - defending for my life against a 550 which was all up in my mirrors on the fast bits.  I seemed to have the better of it into the big braking zones though, making up a lot of time through there.  It was like that the whole race, and as a result had some cracking battles with guys alongside at the end of the straight, only to just edge it under braking.

Made a few positions as people made errors (and then I'd give it back by running wide myself) - but on the whole pretty solid.  Was managing (just) to keep Shark and TT behind me (no doubt aided by them having a tussle) but they got by when there was contact between the two cars infront of me on the reducing radius corner - I had nowhere to go and they got by.

After the contact the car just wasn't as settles, and it took me a while to get back into gear (excuse the pun).  Tried in vain to keep FreQ behind me, but my tyres were starting to go, and with a bit of understeer after the contact, I ran wide and he got through.  Tried to make up time, but with time running out there wasn't really anything to do.

Bit dissapointed I didn't finish higher, as I was feeling really good in the car - but after a couple of fairly torrid races so far this season .... I'm well happy with where I finished.

Grats to the podium'ers and grats/hard luck to MJ with a cracking drive for 4th.

Cheers all for tonight - best race I've had in the GT1's and should make for some great viewing in the replay.

Nice selection of cars tonight and with the prospect of learning the track again during practice and qually I wasn't expecting a lot.

The track was really quite tricky, with such wide corners and so many corners where you brake into the corners getting the lines right was interesting. Wasn't really expecting to enjoy it but the wide sweeping corners gave loads of room for sideways action and playing with the brake/throttle.

Carried on with the Lambo, god it's so much fun to drive!  8) 8) Took my Estoril setup, didn't have to change wing or gearing at all, fiddled with the suspension and brake settings a fair bit and quite pleased to come up with an ok setup for qually. Was 19th of 20 till my last run when I found another second in the setup to put me 11th on the grid and in the mix.

Looked like it could be a great race and sure enough I had some fun for sure. A few over takes, a spin and lots of opposite lock!  O0 Think I finished 8th, which is another reasonable result, but didn't really care, was great to have fun racing like that whatever position.

Well done Jeff, Baracus and Leuven on the podium.

I'm at work now and this is from my mobile phone.                    had a very poor race. Only started on track today and could not get car to turn in. Used a set up from team shark site and they were using soft front for a 22 lap stint and set up was good. Then i was told soft's would not last. Stuck med's on last minute and they ruined car.                                                  chasing simon hard for first few laps waiting on a gap. We then came across and accident and i slowed down. I seemed to be swamped by a few cars closed right up on me as i slowed. For the next few laps i was knocked right out my stride as i was getting far too many nudges.                                              i have to say sorry to james. He rejoined in front of me after going off. I then accidently bumped him. Having not Seen replay yet i'm not sure if you slowed too much or i was that much quicker. Either way it's my fault. Everybody else seemed to run into the back of me and before i knew it i had lost countless positions. I was waiting on you but i lost track and did not know if you had got past or not. Sorry anyway my fault. Well done to but especially winner.

Love this track ! :tt1:

Had a corker.  :euro:

Was top 3 in both praccy seshs but was then annoyed with myself that i couldnt match my 1:51 praccy times in qually and even more miffed when Freq knocked me out of the top 5 by about a 100th of a second ! :o  Still was happy enough with 6th on grid.

Race start was great and i put Freq under some serious pressure from the 1st lap in his goblin green Lambo. We had a great battle for about 5 laps swapping places a couple of times. Then i closed down on P Richards in his 550 and was all over him in some of the corners until i got by up the inside at the elevated turn near lap end. Another great battle with him lasted for about another 10 laps or so until i managed to gradually eek out a 5 second lead, now running in 4th.
With about 11minutes on the clock i started to close on Leuven and the top 2 ahead, then got the 7 second gap down to about 3 secs with a few laps remaining. Unfortunately, my front left was now showing 17 wear rate and my laptimes had dropped by about 8/10ths by then.
Dont know whether Leuvens tyres were shot or he was easing off but i caught right up on the final two laps and was hoping for just a couple more laps to get real close and hope for an error from him but he kept it together and crossed the line for 3rd closely followed by me in a hard earned 4th place.

Thoroughly enjoyed that, Silverstone at the weekend must have given me extra inspiration ! :thumbup1:
Great clean racing all round and great pace by all.
Congrats to the pody boys, just wish i could have been one of them :punk:

That was a pretty amazing race for me.  I've only ever done 5 or 6 laps around Dubai just to get a GTR2Rank thingy, and that was in March, not touched the track since.  In practice 2 I could barely get round the track, let alone set a fast time!  Had no idea about setup either so I took my Estoril setup and made it a little softer and lower.

In quali I was nowhere near the front, ended up somewhere around 15th.  The start was fairly calm, and after following other cars for a while I managed to get a feel for the racing line, (especially into the difficult left-hander leading onto the back straight).  Using the grunt from the fezza I made it up behind Kerr and someone else fighting it out into the last corner.  I got such a run we ended up 3-wide going into T1, and I managed to squeeze past both on the inside (sorry if that was a slightly hasty move :-[ but thanks for leaving room :)).

After that I was constantly playing with different lines into corners, different braking points, etc. and slowly making my way through the field.  The fezza power was definately a help! ;D with 5 or 6 laps to go I managed to catch Paul in 5th and I just had enough in the tyres to get a run down the s/f straight.  So 5th from 15th was great :D and bodes well for the Enduro next week.

Grats to Jeff, B.A. and Leuven for the podium finishes :ninja: and MJ for the late-race pace 8)

I just noticed why my tyres were so bad....the middle of the tyre was 5-10 degrees colder than the sides  ::). Forgot to increase the pressure.

I think the only car that can match the F550's straightline speed is the Viper, as I was doing 178mph at the back straight, driving away from the Fezza's.

Really odd race. Once again my lack of qualifying pace let me down and I started on the back row; managed to avoid Mark McC's stationary Viper (warp ghost?) but got hit from above by a 'ChOnG bomb' :o  and lost my bonnet and splitter. Had to pit for repairs which took nearly a lap and came out just in front of the leaders.

With nothing to lose and over a minute to make up to catch ChOnG I threw caution to the winds and set off trying to drive as close to qualifying pace as I could get on mediums. I was really surprised how close I was in pace to the top 5 - it actually made it kind of tough to let them by - and bar a few laps where I was suffering my traditional 'mysterious loss of grip' problem (seems to happen around tyre wear 5 or 6 on the PD monitor) I was popping in consistent 54s and low 55s which seemed to compare very well with my teammates on TeamSpeak.

Unfortunately the gap ahead was far to large and despite clawing in about a second a lap there was no way to make any useful impression on the cars ahead.

Still, I was very pleased to see how much pace I had compared to the top drivers (plus the odd Legend :P come to think of it they're all odd ) and it bodes quite well for the Endurance event  on Sunday. Assuming I can avoid any cars landing on me from great heights that is. :o ::)

After doing a few laps testing yesterday I found the front tyres on the 550 with the setup I was using was wearing almost twice as quick as the rears, so for the race I decided to chuck on some softs on the rears which worked great for the first 10 mins as I was keeping up with Ruskus and pulling away from 3rd.

Then I started to lose confidence as it started to want to drift in and out of the corners. ::)
Which enabled Baracus to gradually catch up and eventually after a pretty big battle he made his move stick. :)

Then I was in some clean air for a bit with a 4 second gap infront and a 6 second gap behind and about 10 minutes left.
So as it was getting tricky I decided to try and cruise at a safe speed so I didn't lose more than a second and a half a lap thus keeping that pesky Mary Jane M Jonzo at bay. :P

I was expecting the race to be a formation lap and 20 race laps but it finished short for some reason,
It worked out in my favour anyway as it was one less lap I had to nurse it home.

Like Zacari I had only been here when I fist got the game for a few laps in a Saleen and then in the porka to set a GTRank, so I'm pleased to finish 3rd. :thumbup1:

Well done Jeff and Baracus....and Sharkies

Well, that was certainly interesting!
Was unusually confident before the race, really up for it and thought I'd be on for a top 3 at least - how wrong was I!

Messed up in qualy where for the first run I made some mistakes, then on my last run, was up nearly 4 tenths, and.....started to run out of fuel!  8) Somehow managed to improve my time ever soo slightly despite the engine cutting on and off for the last two corners, much to the annoyance of Mark :P

Start was OK as for once, I was in a faster car than the one behind me - but straight away I was having trouble getting the front in. The Maserati's looked epic on turn in today, and Mark took great advantage, going round the outside of me  :o Good move  8)

A Ferrari then got past me (I've forgotton who - sorry  :-[), then he went off, I closed back on Mark and he slid off at the same corner, suddenly P4 and pushing and then I make a mistake at T1 and back to p5 arghhh :P

Then -  for anyone who fancies some comedy, replay 1200 onwards to see my race fall apart in 2 laps :P
Span myself, ran into a spun James, narrowly miss James after another spin, run into Kerr when I caught him slowing down for James's spin! It was all happening :P Down from P5 to P16 at one point!  8)

I was lucky to get a couple more spots back from mistakes of others. Sorry to Adam if my sudden cut across in T1 seemed evil, I saw you brake soo late in my rear view I thought you were going to run into me! So jumped to the apex to avoid you! lol
Good fair driving from Kerr too, think we both had a duff race buddy :surrender:

Shame to wave goodbye to my skin and privateer status on a low note, but ah well. Exciting times ahead  ;D

Congrats to the podium. :)

I wondered if that was it ;D ..... with the Maser I could brake at around the 240 mark but I didn't think I'd make up quite that much space!  That first sector was massive for me - the MC12 really was made for it.  You might be right though - I think there might have been contact had you not jinked a little .... thankfully we'll never know!

Then i was told soft's would not last. Stuck med's on last minute and they ruined car.

Sorry Kerr, if I would have had soft fronts on I would have finished the race on the rims as they only lasted 12 to 14 minutes for me. :(

Yep with the ballast pack it has now got an even better Power to weight ratio.  :o

550 = 560BHP/Tonne - 666NM/Tonne
Viper = 586BHP/Tonne - 737NM/Tonne :o

Cue the stampeed to the Viper for the next race.  ;) :D ;D

Well, all things have to happen once for the first time, I guess. I had contacts with others cars before. Even more than one in the same race. But never with the same driver.  ::) ;D  That pesky Jure was on my ass tail half of the race and this shows how intense that racing was. Fortunately both contacts were minor - at the first I lost some places (which I would have lost anyway - my setup was  ) and at the second I was able to catch the rear before it came over to the front.  :D  What is it with the 24/7 team - this looks like a second (unsuccesful  :P ) asassinantion attempt.  ;D   You owe me ANOTHER beer, Jure!  :-*  Anyway, the tyres showed its own when Jure pushed the throttle too much and he spun. Shark was too far ahead, about 1,5 seconds, for the last 3 laps, so I settled and finished behind him.

I had a great view onto the battle between Shark and Adam Parle and I must say I'm quite satisfied with the progress of the Legends whipper-snapper. He was in front for far longer than I managed but that might also be due to Adams (insert word  ;) ) character.  ;D  Well done, buddy!  :thumbup2:  Was looking great the way you and Sharkie boy handled that oversteary jerking while accelerating outta slow corners.  8)

And MJ seemed to find his pace (finaly  :P ) he had in GTR1.   Nice result as well.  8)

Somebody has to hold a rear guard and this time the honor duty was for me and Bernie.  8)

Good fun!  :fencing:

TT

Cheers TT - I was really enjoying making that Maser as fat as possible with Sharks Lambo swarming around the back of my car.

But as for rear guard action ..... that honour still fell to me in 12th, with the rest of you Legends in 4th, 9th and 10th.

First of all, apologies to Tom for both stupidities on my part (I've just finished reporting myself in incident report board  ;D ::) ). BTW, Masser had a turn-in problem in slow corners, right? (Generally speaking, not just during our mishaps, same goes for rest of MC12s out there).

Qualy was so-so, but P7 was higher then I expected anyway although I did not put in a cool lap.

Anyway, great track, great racing, my setup was fairly good - I put on med/med in last second and it worked, except for massive understeer in what was my best sector using soft/med - that would be sector 1, of course.

Had a great race pace (high 1.53 was doable... but... well... you know... traffic... spins.... and stuff  ;D ), enjoyed our private little battle with Tom, after our first spin we both fell waaay back then climbed up the ladder while racing each other like crazy (I can't tell you enough how angry I was for what I did >:( )

If you guys want to see something funny, check 2035s to see how NOT to salvage out of a spin. Ruined my race - completely ::). Serves me well, I deserved it.

Looking forward to Endurance race, it'll be a grrrrrrrrrrreat.  8)

Congrats to aliens and... rest of us.  ;D

Np Jure, at close racing this happens. I was just a bit surprised to find you at the rear both times - at the time I only saw a 24/7 team car, didn't know who it was.  ;D

BTW, Masser had a turn-in problem in slow corners, right? (Generally speaking, not just during our mishaps, same goes for rest of MC12s out there).

I had understeer in slow corners and oversteer in fast corners.  ::)  How stupid can a man be to set it like that and go race.  ;D

TT

After having missed the last two races I was looking forward to this one.

I was praccing on the server with Jure before the race when I got a CTD. Found out it was my system overheating and couldn't cure it yesterday evening, so had to abandon joining. :(

I struggled really badly with the last corner and on too many occasions people had a run on me. I caught you coming and the speed you were approaching, I thought you were going straight on. I fully expected you to go past me and hit Buckie who was outside me. It looked like your Ferrari had some amount of brakes and grip as you slowed right down and managed to hold a really tight line.

Can't remember anyone coming from so far back to overtake under braking. Lucky I spotted you coming as normally I would have assumed I had more than enough space.
Good fair driving from Kerr too, think we both had a duff race buddy :surrender:

Shame to wave goodbye to my skin and privateer status on a low note, but ah well. Exciting times ahead  ;D

Congrats to the podium. :)

It really was not happening for me at all, new track and a car handling poorly. After yet another mistake out last corner you had the run and made the pass. I'm never going to let anyone past easily, but nor am I going to cross someone path to block.

It ended up a bit of a case of after you for the first few bends, both of us sacrificing speed to allow space.
Used a set up from team shark site and they were using soft front for a 22 lap stint and set up was good.
Then i was told soft's would not last. Stuck med's on last minute and they ruined car.

Sorry Kerr, if I would have had soft fronts on I would have finished the race on the rims as they only lasted 12 to 14 minutes for me. :(

It's my fault as not put the practice in that I so badly required. It was a bum steer though. Tried the set up today and got a warning with 4 minutes to go that tyres were worn, but car still felt really good.

Then I had a shot in the Maserati and was about a second a lap quicker. I can drive it really quickly but find it reacts badly to touching kerbs.

 Decision, decisions for Sunday

Oh, that's simple - don't race, I need to make up the points margin.  ;D :P
