Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Tony, race description mentions limitations on car make, but we have 6 races and only 5 different makes, so am I right in assuming it's each car model we can use once?

Yes, sorry for the confusion. It should say "car model". I'll change the OP.

Yesterday I couldn't compain about a boring race; just annoyed with myself for twice falling victim to the accident-waiting-to-happen-Drama-Queen Pantera curse - otherwise 2nd position might have been possible.

After the start, Daz buggered off to Never-Never Land, but my fight was not with him; rather the two German über aliens close behind, and the rest of the field.  Had opened a small gap when the curse struck 1st time: Entering Ascari, I lost the rear, coming to a halt nose towards the wall. By the time I got going again, the two Germans were past. Caught and passed Micha the following lap, and now followed some steady laps with him close behind, and Manfred further up the road.

Then when approaching Parabolica, I barely managed to sverve around Manfred's stationary car. Expected him to either disconnect, or warp ahead to his real position, but his car stayed where he was when the issue solved itself. Meant I was back in 2nd again.  First Manfred closed up, then dropped back, only to close again as my tyre wear got worse. In addition, I had collected two cut warnings in two consecutive laps at the first chicane, when I overshot because the car no longer stopped so willingly. Thus had to be very careful in the 2nd half.  At this point the curse struck again, when I put a rear wheel outside the track at Lesmo, promptly losing the rear and this time smacking the barrier, losing the front splitter.

Manfred immediately went past.  Micha was further back, but caught up as I was getting going again. He passed on the left up to Ascari, cutting across to the right, in front of me, with barely any room to spare.  Risky, given my missing splitter, and sure enough, when he braked, I couldn't stop in time, bumping him off track; apologies for that.  Waited for him to rejoin ahead, and this gave Matt the opportunity to catch up. Against his undamaged car, I was a sitting duck; couldn't turn, couldn't brake, so he soon was past.  Not all over however, as he seemed to struggle with tyres himself, getting out of shape in chicanes and losing momentum.  Meant we swapped places several times over the final laps, and I was lucky enough to be ahead at the finish.

Grats to Daz, Manfred & Micha.

Kind of took the Pantera as I hadn't had a proper chance to test for this race, and it isn't that long since I had used the car here. Bit lazy on my part, but my time has been a bit full recently to do the few laps I normally get in. Also never truly felt that I got on top of it last time, and was gifted the result I got before. Thought that with a little more tweaking of the setup I could find better speed....

Took a little while to get back in the swing, but eventually starting nailing the clean laps I needed. This revealed the brake setup to be a bit out, and the diff to be too fierce, gave great drive when it hooked up, but was trouble if it got a bit twitchy, which the Pantera tends to do....so moving these around a bit, with some damper changes, gave me a shot at going under the 2 minute mark....

Quali was OK, and knew if I got a good launch I should be good into the first chicane. As Erling said, I tried quite hard on lap 1 to bugger off, and pretty much did that. Was then a case of just being on it and pulling the gap as and when I felt I could. Still managed to bin it once, but it didn't cause too much damage thankfully, and I went about the business of bringing it home safely. Didn't really have a dull moment, you rarely do in that car....

Grats to all, Monza should be easy in theory, simple kind of track, but rarely proves to not be a challenge in these cars.
