Welcome to round 6 of the Skoda 130RS Trophy!
We're heading (very) west for our summer holidays and are stopping over at Singapore for a race on the historic Thompson Road GP course!

As mentioned in the announcement for the series we have no mandatory tire/fuel stop, but the tire wear has been set at 130% so you may or may not need tires...

Timings:
Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qualifying: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (19 Laps)

Cars allowed:

Inside the pack you will find 5 folders - these need to be placed into "*Your steam library*steamappscommonassettocorsacontentcarstmm_skoda_130rsskins"

I also recommend you install the big skin pack from the 1st post in the announcement thread (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=30381.0) - I may have selected some of those cars when setting up the server (It's nearly impossible to tell which are which in the server software). If you see any white cars this will be your problem.

It was running on the server so I guess it must have crashed/gone to sleep.
I've restarted it now and it was visible when I checked a couple of minutes ago :)

worked for me last night. Only went on briefly to check i had right version of the track and test out my new SRS dynamic wind setup  :) Hopefully no more roasting race sessions where i lose about 1kg in body weight through sweat  ;D  Two usb fans funnel cool air through flexi tubing direct to me ala a real race car setup, they increase or decrease depending on car speed and also shift air to either side to create cornering sensations, pretty nifty  8)

This is another great combo, the nimble Skoda almost dances through the switchback curves.  :)

Yes, indeed. Thompson is a very nice track!

Hello. I wanna take part tonight. Do I need to register or chose a skin?

PS: I've made my first laps. Car/track combo is pure gold.

@FullMetalGasket is the organiser of the series but I just wanted to let you know that you'll be welcome, no need to register afaik and the skins are in a skin pack yet I suggest you to download and install, but still you can get in the server and get a non customised skin.
I see that you registered a laptime on sTracker yet, so it's fine about the track and car.
See you on the track !  ;)

You'll be very welcome - as mentioned there's no need to register, just make sure you can see the password at the top of the thread and you should be good to go! :)

As Solmyr mentions it's worth downloading the skinpack for the series and also the one I link to on racedepartment to ensure you see everyone in their full glory ;) (Both should be in the first post unless I did it wrong this week :ninja: )

Really enjoyed this track, best one we have used in this series in my opinion.

As usual I wasn't troubling the front runners but after getting past Dimitar (good to see you & Hristo racing), I spent most of the race chasing Mark & Syd, some laps I was closing, others losing ground. The last few laps really livened up when I caught Syd after he had an off course excursion. I guess Syd had some damage as he had been faster earlier in the race but now I was all over his tail through the twisty bits & eventually found a way past on the very last lap, good fun.

Contrary to last week where I struggled with understeer in the fast corners, at this track it was the two hairpins where I was getting lots of understeer & in the fast corners the car handled great.  ???

Congrats to the podium.

Good fun last night, enjoyed the race throughout. Just couldnt make any in-roads to the front 4 despite seeing them about 100m ahead most of the race. It sounds like i might have had the wrong ratio again but thats my penalty for not being able to practise before the night so will take it on the chin.

Race start:-  Nearly suffered my third consecutive lap1 incident when someone alongside me on the left decided that my car didnt exist, despite being there for several hundred metres! and pulled right into me from behind the car ahead of him (do some race in horse blinkers?!) - i had a car on my right so couldnt go anywhere and had to bail out the throttle to avoid us having an almighty crash that would have taken several cars with us. Of course this meant everyone behind me got a run on me  :taz:
Luckily for me they were fairly cagey on the brakes up at the first hairpin and i kept my position (ish).

Got a run on Syd quite early on in the twisties and got past whilst battling one of the new guys for a few laps. He then fell back and i was chasing Maxime for quite a while until i got a squirmy exit out of the final hairpin which let them gain a sec or two up the road  :( Syd got closer and closer and chased me for a long while until he got back past  me. Oddly, he then couldnt drop me  ??? despite making up several seconds to catch me,  and we raced very closely for the majority of the race until he binned it in the final sector whilst we battled hard. Good fun.  :fencing:
I had an easier time for the last 10mins, though had to be aware Syd and Geoff were only 3 secs behind so couldnt afford any errors on my worn boots.
Finished 6th i think  :)

Nice track/car combo  8)

As Geoff said this was a lovely car/track combo. But I didn't expected that it will provide another amazing chapter in my battle with Hristo as I was too slow.

Even though I was slow I produce amazing consistency and after Hristo had problem at the beginning I was in front of him. I wanted to stay with Geoffers at the beginning but he was faster. Kimi was behind me and we had a nice little battle but unfortunately something happen to him and it was now a chase and later a battle with Hristo.

He was catching me fast and even though with damage his car was much faster. At the end he started attacking - I gave everything and the battle was decided at the very end - the acceleration from last corner on last lap. So much fun!

Grats to the podium guys.

The full version - whatever that's called!
You'll have to wait until after work when I can fire up my PC and find out (That's when I'll be posting the next thread and starting the server anyway).

For Hristo, Dimitar, Geoff and anyone else wondering about driving style/balance required here's my pole lap from onboard - I've turned on a load of the RSS apps to show throttle and brake input + the pretty but ultimately useless G-ball ;D

Woops, sorry Mark that was me, I honestly did not know you were there, I checked & could not see another car, only realised when I bumped into you. Did not do me any good either, had to back off & lost places too. ::)

No man's land race for me yesterday...
With Tim alientnicity only expanding and reaching new heights  :alien: in every race, I could only see the progressive scaled-down version of his Skoda (including the dog) in front...

Whilst not fast enough to challenge Tim, the battles that developed behind between Maxime, Lorenzo and Fabri, kept them busy and at a distance, so I was on my own for the whole race. That's normally the worst for me as, rather than finding excitement in lapping faster laps, I just tend to get bored and make mistakes... I never found my practice pace (under 17's) during the race .

When the fights settled behind with a triumphant Fabri, I realised I needed to react and get my act together or I could be challenged for P2 (The P1 for mortals  :thumbup2: )... That gave me some encouragement to better myself during the race and I managed the best times under a bit of pressure from Fabri. Other than that, I'd have rather been in the mix and have more fun. I suffer from Tim and his lonely races most of the time... XD.

Congrats to Tim and Fabri and all for racing. I've seen Dimitar's fight with Hristo at TurboRacing which was much fun. I think you are still missing some skins Dimitar as you shouldn't see so many white cars....

My video of the race as usual: https://youtu.be/nEPO5A8NG2o (https://youtu.be/nEPO5A8NG2o)

Enjoy!

Jos

You do realise you are making a habit of hitting me on lap 1  ;D .....removes target paintwork

on a more serious note, dont you use a spotter app like crewchief? (he will yell there is a car alongside etc) or a radar app? Also worth mapping a button or toggle on your steering wheel to glance left/right.

I was very surprised that my first and only flying lap in Q allowed me to keep the 3rd position on the grid (due to a very stupid fault in T1 L2 braking, then it was a bit discouraging to go again with those 2mn20 laps..)

Quite missed my start so that I was flanked by Lorenzo and Fab but managed to get out of T1 in P3. I did some not so good driving then for a few turns so the faster masters Jos and of course Tim quickly got some gap. Lorenzo was putting pressure though.
Then we got our usual contact with Lorenzo at T2 L2 and both passed me. Looks like we have quite different driving styles despite being in the same pace. My straight braking often is slightly orientated towards an 'early' apex though Lorenzo grabbed a bit of room on his left at the last moment, that led to side by side contact with almost a crash into the barriers for me. It looks obvious that it's just a racing incident to me, and that I have my own responsibility of course, but plz Lorenzo avoid going slightly left at the braking time for a right turn when we're side by side..  ;)

After that it was quite consistant, watching the great fight between both Italians.

It's weird but in this series, when I see a front driver making a substantial mistake, I always fail to take advantage of it... In the end all sorts of drivings seem to be equal..

Even more oustanding Tim than usual, fantastic Jos driving/pace, great P3 for Fab and super robustness from Lorenzo !

Thanks all for racing !  :)

Yeh, using crewchief & have buttons mapped for left, right & behind, but still did not know you were there. ???  I do have a problem in that the buttons for glancing do have a habit of unmapping themselves in AC, no idea why, they are fine in other sims.

I will do my best to keep as far away from you as possible next race.

I find the best indicator for car proximity is that little 'radar like' app call Helicorsa that let you know the relative position of all cars surrounding you. You can see it on my videos. That, together wit my fantastic CrewChief, makes it very difficult to miss someone... Although it inevitably happens from time to time.

Jos

I don't use crewchief, but I do use helicorsa (and VR of course) and I've still been guilty of pulling over into people occasionally :-[
