Title: UKAC Season 18 - Road Atlanta - Jun 29

From fire-breathing sports cars we now jump to the classic end of the single seater spectrum - Namely the Russell Alexis Mk14 from 1967 and the Estonia 18 (Approx 1972).

As the 2 cars can't really race each other (The FF is a 1600 Kent block while the Estonia is a 1300 Lada) this event will be a double header. The practice server has both cars loaded but the races will each be one make events.
As a result I can't urge you enough to practice on the server before race night as there will be NO practice session before either race - just a 20 min qualifying session.

A note from the readme on tires for the Russell Alexis:
The two tire compounds are labelled North and East because they would be running in different series; North is a 90s Formula specific radial with a stiffer sidewall, East is a 60s generally available car tire - in the 60s road cars would actually run on 165/55s, by the 90s no new cars were using such a small tire. Both are a fairly hard long-wearing compound.
I vaguely remember north being faster (It's 30 years newer so should be!), but as the East compound is a road tire you may actually find that easier to drive. (This car is VERY skitish - having nearly crashed a 1600FF in real life I can assure you that this isn't due to poor physics in the mod :D )

Timings:
Race 1 - Estonia 18
Qualifying: 19:30 (20 mins)
Race: 19:50  (20 mins)

Stay on the server after race 1 - when you loose connection you'll know I've changed the settings and restarted it. When that happens quit and the 'new' server should be ready by the time you get to the multiplayer menu
Race 2 timings shoukld be understood as highly variable - depending on how fast we get through race 1 and time for me to save the results and reset etc..

Race 2 - Russell Alexis Mk14 (Formula Ford)
Qualifying: ~20:20 (20 mins)
Race: ~20:40 (20 mins)

Good news/Bad news.
I've been informed it's my birthday on Weds so I'm not allowed out to play ;D

This may not be a bad thing as it can ensure that you all get time to trial the cars and figure out setups for them.
The races will now be held on the 29th instead (If maxime is serious about the Sunday slot then he could always throw a quick something together for this Weds to see if he still fancies it? I can give a quick bit of advice on the Wednesday server settings if needed)

Beyond the 29th I'm going to have to play things by ear somewhat - as on the 23rd I'll be picking up a new puppy, so depending on time and Kate's whereabouts I'm not yet certain on my availability while it's still tiny.

I am actually happy to hear this is posponed to next week, as I am away for work a couple of days and probably not back in time for the race this Wednesday.

I wish you a happy birthday Tim!

Hello guys,

Don't forget that despite Tim getting older :P and that the double single seater event has been postponed by him in consequence, there will be a little fun event tonight at the usual time, no DL needed, no real practice needed, just show up and join in with the usual generic password. (There will not be a dedicated password, nor official races results, neither Champagne !).

Yeah, I'll do a tidy up when I get a chance. Had forgotten how much time a puppy needs!

Hehe, hasn't been eaten this past night eventually ? Enjoy your new baby Tim  It is cats here but I get you well !
At the end of the day you'll be racing in an estate car, perhaps we'll get our chance !  ;D

The racing estate (Legacy 3.0R Spec B - Google them, then check youtube for videos with modified exhausts ;) )  will have to be sold soon due mainly to the fact the puppy will be wanting a lot of very long w,alks when she stops being a puppy ;)

I'm likely to end up in a small van so you'll get your chance then! :D

Might be me but I can't find the server. I checked my filters and can't figure out why for now.
Oddly enough, I have ~850 servers listed /~4200  ???
Does anyone else experience it ?

Fabri was on it over the weekend I think.
But I can't get the live map to show on S-tracker so the server may have gone to sleep - I'll re-start it later today when I can escape the puppy long enough

I couldn't find the server either, so I did the training (a bit) offline.

No problems with the engine, almost with Formula Ford. I will try Estonia tonight I think.

Going to miss this one & next week as I am off to Le Mans, have fun guys & see you for the Minis.  :thumbup1:

PS: Mmm, just had a go in the Mini Miglias & found them nearly uncontrollable, not sure the RWD brigade are going to like these much. All the worst FWD traits, massive corner entry oversteer & corner exit understeer & loads of torque steer.

The Estonia has a very high rev limit Vs damage threshold, if you're killing engines then you're simply revving it too high :)
Server would be up as I managed to reset it pays this morning.

As for mini miglia, it's all about the throttle - as I mentioned, they use a torque biasing diff as opposed to an lsd. A good excuse to learn left for braking ;)

Had another go & with a few setup changes they did become more driveable, well at least I can keep it on the track now!  ::)

About the Mini Miglia, and as I told Tim yet, for me it will be a no-show as this mod's ffb just wants to kill my wheel as soon as I reach 30km/h, at least it was the case when I tried her. Not to mention her very specific handling, but I just can't hear and feel my T500 taking injury like that for no reason at all. About 5% of the mods I DL are like that, so for me it's an instant 'forget it'. But the rest is of very nice feeling so I can't really get the problem. Maybe some very different domestic ffb setups lead to incompatible car's ffb designs ?

The odd thing is that my TS-XW runs the same drivers as your T500 from what I can tell - and I don't get this issue. We'll see what otherfeedback we get I guess, and also whether the puppy settles enough to actually let me race to start with!
I'd like to race them in a British track series but suspect they won't be popular enough anyway :( But hey - ho, that's what testing is for!

I've just tidied up all of the fun event related posts from last week - so if you're missing a post here that's why!
I'm 90% certain I've only removed stuff relating to Maximes' server, but my French isn't great so apologies if I've gone overboard here :ninja:

In other news I've been leaving the puppy for longer and longer periods and am so far getting away with it - I may even be able to take part tomorrow night at this rate!

I just tried the Estonia and, no offense to our Baltic friends but, it's horribly bland to me.  :-\

The Russel-Alexis is much funnier to my taste.  8)

Looks like I missed the first race in the Estonia, I'll try to join later in the Russel.

Sorry for not chatting in race 2 - I dropped my resolution to 720p to try and stop the dropped frames. It worked but the chat box was now off the screen!

I'm very upset to not join properly, an Xbox controller and steam link to the telly are frankly rubbish - I couldn't actually drive the Russel Alexis with that combo :(

Even worse though is the fact that I'm going to have to step down from running the Wednesday night slots - at least until my puppy can cope with me being upstairs (or join me).
At the moment her anxiety is so bad she has panic attacks if I disappear for too long, these often result in a LOT of cleaning ::)

Sorry to do it at no notice, but I never had these issues when Kai was tiny so literally hadn't even conceived of them.

If Maxime fancies taking over Wednesdays in the mean time to keep the classics alive he is more than welcome 8)

Sorry again :ninja:

Sure Tim, I'll do my best ! Though for next Wed it will be compromised as I'm leaving home this we to go at Le Mans and I still have plenty of things to do in the meantime.

Will we get a picture of your new puppy ?  :D

This is the reason for my pain and lack of time/sleep.
Kai is not entirely amused by her presence ;D

Pets do form rather strong bonds....unless you can train them to not be so anxious when alone.

She just needs time - Kai has always been very self sufficient, although she was 4 months old when I got her.
Cassi was only 10 weeks so needs a lot more reassurance, I can watch her confidence grow pretty much daily (Same as her physical size I could swear!) - but she's just taking her time :)

Hello all,

I was in Le Mans this we so that I wasn't able to think about any little fun event for this Wed.
And I won't be home tonight, but I wanted to let you know that I'd be glad if any of you fancy joining this tomorrow evening :

Date : Thursday, July the 7th
Qualif (if enough drivers) : 19h15 gmt
Race : 19h30 gmt
Car : Lotus Evora S
Track : Mugello - Fast conditions, clear weather, possible moderate wind, 2pm
Password : Usual defaut password (this time correctly typed by me  :punk: )
Damage : 70%
Special Rules : No ABS, no TC, street tyres only.

Notes : This week again it will be a modern car. Am I unwell are you going to ask  ;D nope, but very little time to setup something fun and easy to ride.  Last week was real fun but damn slow, this time let's get some powaaa.. This car is very fun, she wants to play with you, and provides some nice feeling and enjoyable sound. Her engine is very lively, so that heel&toes need to be as subtle as quick. Her behaviour is very well equilibrated despite being pretty vivacious. As no ABS is allowed of course, I would suggest you to much lower the braking power (I'm going to keep it around the minimum of 80%)

Good to see something put up as an event. Just don't think I'll manage to get behind the pc tonight. :(
Hopefully I can get some racing in before I am off for the holidays.

I think some clarification.....

Posting it here will almost guarantee that few people will see it...

Has no one asked Dave to give him access to create events/ forum posts in here for events?

Is this run on our server or your own.. as i seem to remember seeing you trying to sort something out on your own hardware?

If not then I'm sure someone who does/ can access our server set it up for you

Hi Mr Spanner, yes I know that, it's just to throw something in while having no time to ask for threads creation or rights to be granted, but just for this week. I think I will need to ask Tony if he accepts to upgrade me as a race director and then, I also would have to learn to manage sro servers.
But for now it's only a little fun event, whose I make advertisment here and hosted on my own PC.

Better organisation in order to second Tim would need more time.  ;)
