Title: UKGPL Season 41 (Autumn 2022) 1966 F1 - Solitude - Sep 27
Post by: Billy Nobrakes on September 22, 2022, 10:10:50 PM +0100
Season 41 – 1966 F1 Series – Solitude

For this round we head off to Stuttgart, Germany. This long challenging circuit is named after Castle Solitude and was mainly used to hold motorcycle races but Formula 1 races were held there in 1961, 62, 63 and 64.
An appropriate name for a track that I often find myself driving for long periods in my own company.

A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient.

The tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race. Pro standard drivers will receive 10 tokens at the start of the season & a further 10 tokens for each additional start. Amateur drivers will receive 20 tokens at the start of the season and a further 10 tokens for each additional start. Driver ranks can be found at the bottom of this e-mail.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

Unlimited number of Shift-Rs are allowed with no need to make Stop & Go.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Please check Season 41 details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1901&theme=6) regarding rules and the 1966 F1 Privateers Championship  pages (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=31641.0) in particular.

The final section is a nightmare. Left, right, left, right. It all looks the same.

I distinguish the corners from the different trees there are to crash in.

Feel free to take full advantage of the unlimited Shift R's.

I distinguish the corners from the different trees there are to crash in.

So that means that the tree order is lots, lots, lots, lots, sneaky dip on left if you lose it avoiding a tree on right, lots, lots, lots, lots, lots, lots.. ?

Good luck all. Have a good race.

Not really feeling up to this. I think I have a bad cold. But wife just tested positive for Covid.

Here we go again.

A very lonely and slow race in the Eagle T1G. This has never been a favourite track of mine. The only fun was a spin on the last lap. Thankfully I could just hang on until the end.

I made that more interesting than it shoulda been. Qualified out of place cos I could not hang a lap together, but made up some places off the start, and was mixing it with people I probably shouldn't have been... for a bit until reality bit. Fulvio!! How we didn't touch at the fast left kink on Lap 1 I will never know...

Once I had lost the top guys I lost concentration for a bit and had an off or two, which set me up for a nervous last couple of laps fighting with Andreas. Great fun, but P6 was mine, glad to get it, albeit by 0.3 secs.... yikes...

Thanks also to BillyNB for very courteous moving aside in race and qually.

Cheers

Arf

That was one of my best races, with really a lot of fun after the shock in the first lap I quickly could find the flow again – and again an experience of a special kind with my  special friend Yannick - just stupid - and that's not enough, already lying on the ground Leo hits me with a violent bump! But my catching up from 12th position was fine also because the other colleagues fight very fairly and carefully.
Congratulations to you Tristan and Tom.
I'm already looking forward to our slipstream battle in Rouen.

Bit of a clumsy period I'm having. Jeez.
Earlier the evening I cut my race very short and this one wasn't much better for my feeling. Partially because I do not vibe with this track much. Partially just pure stupidity on my part.

Big sorry to Uli for the hit. Don't know what to say... empty head moment.

Simply put...  A perfect outing.  No collisions with other competitors.  No impacts with barriers.  No 64's with all laps including qualifying 'On Track'.  Top gun in Consistency.  A P9...net, P8...finish.  Couldn't have been better.

Except for Uli and Yannick recovering from their Lap01 incident, I didn't have anyone to dice with.  I edged away from Axel over the early laps and could do little about closing down on Bob.  Somewhat boring from that viewpoint but a desire for accuracy and clean laps kept me on my toes.  Nice job by Tom to score a podium.

You owe me one  ;)
I shouldn't have waited for you when you half spun last time at the hairpin, you had hard time to stay ahead of me last lap.  ;D

Arf I only heard for a moment the sound of your engine coming, no time to watch mirrors or Prib there, so I tried to not move across and you zipped by  :o ;D
