This track is quite detailed so some of you may need to turn down the track detail level if your FPS is low.

I must sadly announce that I'm starting my Inters season this day, at V8 Thunder. We'll race every Thursday with a break every 7th week :(

If it's okay with you, I'll happily continue to race here every 7th week, but it's sad to see an Alpine race where I can't race.

Best of luck to you.

Nice track, just tried it out. Unfortunately, the problem with my system that ended my first race with UKGTL, namely GTL crashing when online (and only when online, oddly enough) is still occurring. I hope to borrow my wife's PC to join you on Thursday evening. GTL works fine on it, I just have to keep her away from it for a couple of hours.  ;)

This track is very strict on the Cut Track warnings, going to have to race very diciplined to not get DQed on this one

And some of the kerbs are vicious as well. I clipped one and suddenly found myself on the wrong side of the fence.  :o

Thanks Steve, it's nothing too serious, just removing a lymph gland and cutting a bit of my tumour off. Should be out Friday.

It's next week the fun starts, more chemo, radiotherapy and some heavy drugs! It's going to be weird. I have had long hair since I was about twelve and now I'm going to go bald!

And how about this for an example of what a great country the UK is? Because I was working I get Statutary Sick Pay, £72 a week. And because of that I can't get free prescriptions, incapacity benefit or anything else. But I can get a free wig!

See you all at Cadwell.

Ugh, I only beat that by 0:0:400 in the Renault after 3 days of practice!!!

These Renaults are going to Give the Ferrari and Shelby a challenge, where as the British Beasts are going to head up the pack it looks like.

The PC is beating me by over 2 seconds in the Healy, and 1 in the Jag. I'm Top of the Renaults, better than the Ferrari, and a few hundredths behind the Shelby, so I can predict the top dogs are going to be 4+ seconds up on me :/

It will be a nice split grid battle i think tho, with the Renault and Ferrari battling out the lower end, The Jag and Healy for the top, and the Shelby dipping into a bit of both.

Did some laps in all cars (execpt Alpine) and they all feel great. Love the Ferrari sound and love the GT350 and Healey handling.

I think I'll go for the Ferrari as I haven't really driven it before.

Nightmare! I have a really weird problem that I hope someone can help me with!?!

Never seen this before in all my time with GTL.

Basically even tho my controller is responding OK (i.e. get smooth 100% throttle etc) I cannot pull any acceleration in ANY car on ANY track - offline or online.

I wanted to do a few laps of AF-GTL and tried the ferrari first, and as soon as I get second gear (which takes an age to get to) it just stutters and stalls as there isnt enough power or the brakes are locked on or something!!

GTL PD shows the tyres locking up even at 1mph in the alfa for example - and in those lower powered cars I cant even get it rolling without it bogging down and stallling!!

Any ideas whats going on please!? Anyone heard of this before?

EDIT: I'm a twat!
It WAS the brake locked on! The handbrake!!
I set up the sequential bit of the G25 to be handbrake when you pull back (as I have a H-Shifter separate)  - and it had locked into that position somehow without me noticing!!

That will teach me to have too many gadgets and buttons! ;)
Phew...

I just hate when i get a hard hit at 1st lap.
I am not sure who it was, but if it is who i think...second time at first lap mate. :whistling:
In that uphill section, wich has bad visibility (so, we have to be more carefull)
we must have extra care, due the suspension efect when the car lift (less handling, steering,
braking......but you know that already (i assume)
I tried to back on track, but was hit behind (sorry for that, i tried to stay on the far right
side of the corner), after that, couldnt steer perfectly, car was pushing to the right,
as some of you saw, down the s/f straight (AND I WAS VERY P***** ASWELL)

Qualified 6th (no practice at all) :scared: so, i should be  :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:
There are some races.......ohhhhhhhh.......dear.......better be shut up :dots:

I hope you had lots of fun,
Cheers

Tough one that; as the lone Healey it didn't really matter where I finished but totally missing my baking for the final left hander in the opening laps put a bit of a damper on any potential for a half decent finish. Had some good fun picking my way up through the assorted machinery but not much actual wheel to wheel action.

Managed to find an extra half second a lap late in the race but by then the rear tyres were toast and there were big gaps ahead and behind.

Scariest moment of the race was coming down the main straight with the leader coming up to lap Phil and I and another car spinning in front of us. Accidenty passed Phil during that one but let him back in front again so I could do it properly. ;D

That Race was a TON of fun. Me and PABLO had a 20 lap long battle for 10th.
I was also having a good battle with one of the Shark boys untill he lost control giving me an easy position.

Eventfull race for me the whole time at mid pack, always someone around to battle with, and even had to deal with some lap traffic too!

I thought my race was over in the rolling start after I smoked the stalled Jag, luckily the Renault's craftmanship held up for the race.

Apologies to Pablo for the few nudges I gave you when we were entering turn 1, your big Ferrari was slowing down, and my renault was speeding up

I totally enjoyed my first GTL race ;D

qualified 10th with a PB and then F**** up the start as usual ::). was lapping ok and holding my own for a few laps in 12th when I had the inevitable spin and lost a few more places...recovered but knowing I was a little faster than the cars in front I started pressing to make up lost time...with the obvious consequences of more and more and more spins.....I started off in the E-type Jag...and ended up in an S-Shaped one :D

I will look forward to the next season.....great fun and great driving.

Congrats to the podium

Qualified 8th and that fine for me but couldn't touch my pb.  Race started ok and then on lap 7 I think, my screen went black and there I was back at my desktop.  Very unusual as the game just seemed to minimise.  Ruskus and M Jonzo then passed me at the final turn as I was on the grass and sure there was a spinner behind me.(hope it wasn't my doing).  I was lonely for a period and a few mistakes crept in as tyre wear took its toll on my lap times.  Then appeared shark(oh no) after I went  off and he just kept picking away at me for a number of laps until I started to slide on turn two and was  struggling to keep it on the track and shark then passed me and gave me a clip.(nothing he could do about it).  Shark then pulled away lap after lap as my tyres cooked and I adventually finished 8th.

I was also having a good battle with one of the Shark boys untill he lost control giving me an easy position.

I wish it was me losing control as I would feel better. Nope, once again the power cable on my monitor nudge itself out just enough for the power to go off to the monitor and present me with some midnight racing.  Was doing really well up to that point, harrassing Jeff, it was only a matter of time before I worked out how to get past. That dropped me down to 11th or 12th and I drove the nuts off the Fez to the end by which time I'd moved back up to 8th and somehow caught Jeff and Mary Jane ;) on the last lap. Would have been nice another 5 laps to try and get past but it wasn't meant to be.

Provisional results (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&event=322) and provisional final standings (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=46) updated.

Man that was fun - my best ever performance in GTL, heck probably the best I've ever put in at SRouk.

After trying the Healy and the GT350 .... it had to be the Jag.  I was struggling to find any pace .... and then it clicked - braking points, lines through the corner .... the lot.  In practice 1 I hit 1:11.440 and I thought I'd gone and wasted my fastst lap.  Thankfully not.

In qually I was banging in high 1:11's - just couldn't quite get it all right, and then I got down into 1:11.3 to take 3rd on the grid I think - behnd Assassino and of course Baracus.  I really surprised myself with it this evening.

The race started well - I had a gap to 4th .... until the hairpin at the end of the lap - missed my braking point and hit the wall, rejoining in 5th behind Bernie and with MJ in hot pursuit.

Me and Bernie had a good tussle for a while, passing on this circuit is hard!!!  I got by after an error (I think - the race is just a blur!) and I found a bit more pace and started hitting high 1:11's and drawing out a lead and catching the battle for 2nd with Assassino and MGorenc.  Having spent a few laps catching them - and wondering how the heck to pass them .... thyey did my work for me - an error each and I was through to 2nd (still not really knowing what was going on!)

I managed to keep it together, banging in lap after lap in the high 1:11's and low 1:12's.  Baracus was a good 16 seconds ahead, and that slowly grew - the only times I caught him was when he was going through backmarkers.

That was the most fun GTL race I've had - despite not having someone to fight with for most of the race.  Just being so consistent was so refreshing .... and fast with it .  The 40 minutes absolutely flew by - what an end to the season for me!

(Currently celebrating with something highly alcoholic!)

ps. Apologies for the over-enthusiastic use of "!" :P

that was fantastic ass-out power sliding fun !  8)

The best GTL race i've had for a while for pure drifting action, the E-Type was a pleasure to drive (first time i've used it).
I was all over Jeffs yank tank but when that beast went into a power slide it took up the whole flipping track :o
Absolute great fun both drifting through that big sweeping curve on pit straight, it looked superb from my cockpit whilst i leant right over like Dan Gurney ! 8)

Excellent racing  :)

Interesting race for me.

Started with the start, where Psuedo took my 9th place eventhough he qualified in 10th. Flashing my lights to no avail so I had to start 10th. Luckily I could overtake him immediatly after the start.

After that I was in a gap but MJ and Ossie came behind me. I had to drive hard to defend against MJ. My gearstick wouldn't shift down a few times, so when it finaly did, my back came out. Sorry MJ for that surprise  :-[.

Happy I finished 6th with this car  ;D

Grats to winner.

Yes, I nearly pulled the wheel off the table at that point!  ;D

Accidenty passed Phil during that one but let him back in front again so I could do it properly. ;D

Thanks Dave, but there was no need, I had no chance: after getting knocked off in the 1st bend on the 1st lap I drove 32 laps with the thing wobbling all over the place. Didn't stop me having a great time battling against Bill Thomas and pseudo as he bounced from wall to wall!

Apologies to anybody who I slithered in the way of.

Yes that was a bit hairy! Somehow I managed to slice through the gap.

Bit of a lonely race for me, but I do love the Ferrari once you get it drifting reliably and just found a really nice groove with it. Had a couple of muddy moments from running wide but only lost a couple of seconds and no C/T warnings, amazingly.

Congratulations Adam on your best finish!

What a disaster...no practice, no set-up, but the Shelby sounded beautiful, untill i smashed it into the barriers on several occasions...repeatidly  :-\

Mmm...have to remember log on before 8:45 next time :-[

Liked the track though, and most seem to have had some real fun out there  8)

I really enjoyed the car/track combo, it seemed perfect for the GTC-65 cars.

The race was a disaster, I'll put my hands up and admit I wasn't very well prepared, it was an impulsive last-minute decision to attend and I thought I'd had enough experience in the Alpine. Luckily I didn't affect anyone else when I met my demise.

I won't join another GTL race without being better prepared :-[

Well done to Adam, that's a great result mate  :thumbup2:

Oh btw, thanks to everyone that helped me get the right brake balance in the Ferrari...from the 100:0 from Pops :-\, to the 50:50 from Jeff   :o and finally the 63:47 from Baracus :). Using a complex statistical analysis of said settings, cross-referencing the suggestor's individual driving styles and then factoring in my own experiences (heading out of the pits, failing to brake adequately and then crashing into the first sharp right hander 3 times in a row), I finally plumped for 60:40, which served me admirably for the rest of qually and the race.

P.S. Apologies for also coming and going so much during qually. I was having some technical issues including the track reload bug and I ended up rebooting to fix it, which gave me about 10 minutes to practice, qualify and get ready for the race.

If anyone is interested here is a link to the video I have put together. (Very quickly). The longest part was to find a track long enough to accompany it.

Phil Gilliland

Thanks Phil I enjoyed our virtually race long battle - the lap chart shows the close lap times with each of us making errors.  ;D  An enjoyable evenings racing I don't think, in this League, I've spent so much time racing against so many cars.

Bill
