It's a shame GTL doesn't do rain, otherwise this one would HAVE to be a wet race.  ;D

Judging by the usual conditions at Knockhill, I think GTL would need a 'monsoon' option!   :D

A really fun track (like all this season; thanks go to Mark J for suggesting some of them and obviously Simon for arranging such a great list of events, should generate a good turnout, hope I don't miss any of them!).  It WILL be a miracle of good driving if we all make through T1/2 without any offs, very tight in there.

Roll on the 16th.....perhaps I'll try a mini after long ignoring it.

Might see if I can make this one since it's my local track.

It's hardly Knockhill without the rain. Got soaked again at the weekend after going to have a look at the rallycross championship.

NoGrip's Hotlaps are a good guide http://www.nogripracing.com/hotlaps/gtl.php?do=times&track=176&car=0&class=1

I'll be happy if I can get the Mini round in less than 1:04.

I've been struggling to get a setup that's sufficient enough to keep the car on the track, and I can only muster 1:04:6s in the Alfa atm, it's gonna be tough to shave another second or two off of that without the risk of spinning on that fast uphill turn.

If I download and install some new sounds for the Alfa, will it affect me when I try to join the server?

I'm not thinking it should, as sound files should be client side only, and that the config of other player's wouldn't have to be changed.

Just wanna check before I bother dloading them.

If it only changes the WAV files it'll be okay. You only have a problem if the .CAR or .HDC files are changed I think.

You are bleedin joking  ???, went to next session to start race, go to grid and no-one there, know the drill, go back to pits  click on other driver, can see his car on the start line all alone, go out and still no-one there sit and wait, exit countdown stuck at 0.01.

I'm flippin' furious, I was so looking forward to that race  >:(

Hope you all had a good one, but I'm losing patience with buggy multiplayer GTL.

Argh, the Stop/Go got me

I got two on the same lap, pitted in to take it, made one more lap, and I got DQed  >:(

I apologize to all who I hit/held up
I know I smoked someone in the Twin cart of mine causing them to flip, while trying to avoid them under breaking into a turn - I do beleive you left the race after that. I feel bad for ruining your race :(

After this accident I spun on the grass and slid onto the track very slopilly and I saw someone swirve to miss me - again I feel bad for ruining your race :(

Not pleased with my preformance in the season opener, but I can tell already this is going to be an AWESOME season

Lowmax is running in 4th with a broken Clutch!

Have a good race all!

I DO NOT BEELIEEEVE IT!!!  >:( :o ::)
About lap 33, trying to overtake a Legends Cortina for P9 I think, lost the back end at the hairpin and cut the corner thereby getting a stop/go... get to the pits and press escape which in GTR2 is mapped to get rid of the pit board, and it quits!!!  AAAArrgh... and after only just making the race at all due to not having patched GTL to v1.1 nor set up the online account!  Oh the pain  :'( :'( :-\

Other than that an incredible race, I LOVE GTL!  My hands are shaking from 33 laps of on the limit slidesville driving!  woo hoo!!!

Enjoyed than one greatly in my very rare GTL outings.

Very surprised to qualify 4th.

On first lap made a backside of the hairpin. I was closely following 2 and 3rd place, and I could not judge my breaking point. I used Backo the car ahead as my reference, bad idea! He braked way too late and went straight on and I barely controlled my car, and because I was sideways a few people could not avoid me, sorry.

Made up a few positions over next few laps but the guys further ahead were too quick.

Good fun track but a little tight to overtake backmarkers.

A few misunderstandings between myself and backmarkers which caused me to loss time. It did not help that one wanted to race me and did not wish to let me pass.

Good fun all round and no doubt I will be back when time permits

:sweatdrop: Had a good start and managed to make up a spot there and well, what a scrap I had with Zacari and Bernie, I was one of the lucky ones to avoid Kerr and Backo at the hairpin....but only just, apart from the fight with afforementioned racers, it was just a case of carefully lapping people and not trying to lose the back end on those off camber corners.
I even got a pb in quali, so I say that this was a very good track!!

That was pretty hectic from start to finish - only had a couple of laps where I could take a breather as such.

The start was fine from where I was sitting in P7, but what happened at the hairpin!  Think someone spun it on the exit, and there was a bit of a pile up.  Somehow I managed to get through it, and was behind Bernie in 4th.  It was never going to last, and it didn't.  It only took a slip here and there and I gradually dropped back.  Had a cracking battle with MGoran for a good few laps - swapping places until he lost the back coming out of the chicane.

Kerr and I had a good tussle - spinning to let each other by .... ::)

Towards the end I had a little bit of a shock as Shark appeared in my rearview .... but I got away after we passed some backmarkers and that was pretty much that until the end of the race.

A little bit annoyed at the spins I had - but can't complain with the result in what was (for GTL) a massive turnout.

Thanks all, good racing.

Excellent 35 3/4 laps that....thouroghly enjoyed it. the first 1/4 lap though is something I will not mention yet :o other than to say I ended up rolling a few times. Fortunately ended up on the wheels and didn't appear to be too much damage.

Qualified in 10/11th I think with a PB  ;D...but ended up 24th by turn 2 :(
passed a few folk and with the retirements I managed to get back to finish 10th...just, with someone desperate to share my fuel for the last few turns :o sorry, didn't see who it was...eyes focused firmly forwards. Couple of nice little battles with phil....but he kept forgetting to turn at turn 1 so I managed to pull away. good racing all round from what I saw....well done podium and a great start to seson 3.

Car felt good in the practice server before hand and then felt absolutely terrible on the same setup during practice and through most of qually. Finally it came together again at the end of qually, and despite the shame of starting behind Shark's Mini I knew that RWD traction would get me off the line well ahead off him.

About lap 33, trying to overtake a Legends Cortina for P9 I think, lost the back end at the hairpin and cut the corner thereby getting a stop/go... get to the pits and press escape which in GTR2 is mapped to get rid of the pit board, and it quits!!!  AAAArrgh

Such a shame, just as we were getting stuck into a darned good tussle too. :'( But I think you'll find it was my Shark Cortina and not one of those dodgy Leg Ends. ;)

Before then I was carving my way up through the field after the compression at the final corner on lap 1 left me as the last person in the cluster to brake without running into the guy ahead, and getting well and truly clobbered off. :-X Don't know if I spun all the way to the back but in any case I then had the most phenominally enjoyable storm back up through the field - a big, big "thank you" to everyone I went wheel to wheel with, great sporting behaviour at all times. :thumbup2:

Finally after two thirds of the race I was closing in on Shark's Mini at a fair rate when I bit off more than I could chew in the first two turns and lost it, only just rejoining before JK caught me. After that I didn't have quite the same pace in the second half of the lap and fell back into his clutches, only getting the place off Shark because he also had a stop and go.

What a great start to Season 3 - a top 10 at a track I don't think I've ever memorized before!

Thanks all, good racing.

I was describe it as courteous driving. Making way for the faster driver, allowing plenty of space!

There was a good field. From what I hear it seems both GTL and GTR2 are both heading in the positive direction in racers

What a mental little track this is!!  ;D

Really no time to 'relax' at all! Some very curtious drivers when being lapped so thanks for the care.

Looks like Zacari has got the handle on these Oldies now too! Well done old chap!

Really enjoyed this track. I did a little tweak to the setup in the last few mins of Qualy which I am glad I did as it made it much better through ALL bends (changed front roll bar from 1.80 to 1.60). I found that little chicane was a nightmare until I got used to turning in to the 2nd part befoe you could see it - then it was fine especially with that roll bar change compared to how it was during Q.

I got a couple of warnings so had to be very careful in 2nd half of race, particularly at T1 - where I was very nervous and didnt feel comfortable at all... but the more you think about it the worse it is!! When I just drove it without worrying it was OK again!

Had a momentary lapse of skill when I passed Dave - a few wobbly moments with himn catching me back up - sorry if I slowed you down m8 :)  Seems you got past Si anyway ;)

Great racing all - Season 3 looks like a corker :D

Provisional results (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3374.0) availble (as you can now very easily see on the forums!  8)), first provisional championship standing (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=53)s available and also the server replay (https://replay.simracing.org.uk/ukgtl/UKGTL%20-%20S3%20-%20Knockhill%20070816.zip).

Well done to Baracus, Zacari and Madd-Ripp on the podium and are my eyes deceiving me? No, I think it's true, the Team Shark Junior chaps are leading the team championship. Well done fellas.

Sounds like a virus mate!

Have you tried without the network lead in?

Theres a free program called Hijack This - that you can run and it will tell yu what programs are running and/or crashing...might be worth a go to try to find out what process is causing it.

EDIT: Try this link: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/HijackThis.shtml

Then again that might not be good enough a program - last time I used it i'm sure it did ALL processes, not just spyware stuff as it seems to be now :/

U tried "Windows Safe Mode"?

That was a blast, 3rd in quali and 2nd at the line- in the Lotus too :P ;D

I made my life difficult in quali by getting DQ'd while in 2nd whilst practicing starts behind the pits :-[  I left and came back in again and managed to get 3rd (with a faster time than before, so it wasn't all bad :D)

The start was great, managed to get the jump on Backo in the Alfa and was in 2nd into T1.  Coming up to the hairpin and I took the inside line very early, broke as late as was needed and kept 2nd easily, looked behind me as I exited the corner and it looked like carnage :o but gave me a handy 2-3 second gap.

After that excitement, Baracus was steadily about 0.5s a lap faster, and I was just about holding the gap back to Madd in 3rd- and that was pretty much how it was to the flag ;D never much time to relax 8)

Backmarkers were really good, especially given the nature of the track.  Not sure what happened in the last corner of lap 36, but there was no harm done :D :) ;)

Great win Baracus, and go TS Junoir! 8)

Couple of nice little battles with phil....but he kept forgetting to turn at turn 1 so I managed to pull away.

That gave me a heart attack, I was coming up to lap you and was just thinking.. "aah how cute, 2 mini's chasing each-others tails", when one of them flung itself into the tyres and back onto the track :o :o :o apologies for the light contact but thankfully everything seemed ok afterwards :D 8)

In my experience, the power supply would be a serious contender. I've had several let go over the years, and the nice thing is that they are cheap to change.

apologies for the light contact but thankfully everything seemed ok afterwards :D 8)

There wasn't much you could do about it as I pirouetted over the track - sorry about that.

I got a couple of warnings so had to be very careful in 2nd half of race, particularly at T1 - where I was very nervous and didnt feel comfortable at all... but the more you think about it the worse it is!! When I just drove it without worrying it was OK again!

I found I was much quicker through T1/T2 if I broke way earlier than was possible, even as early as the marker board before the tyre marks, and then floated it through instead of trying to force it.

Had a momentary lapse of skill when I passed Dave - a few wobbly moments with himn catching me back up - sorry if I slowed you down m8 :)  Seems you got past Si anyway ;)

I lost just .2s letting you by - I think I made some time back up by drafting you on the two straights. :D

HE HE.....just watched replay....you should have a look at the state of my mini.... :o after the triple salko on the first lap.....my mum will kill me....thats her car :o  how it survived to the end of the race is anybody's guess.

Must say sorry to Tom Cooper if I held you up or caused you any damage when you hit me...I saw the car behind you and realised I would have loads of room to rejoin befor it got there.....unfortunately though I didn't see your big black and yellow cortina !!! ::)

Unlucky Backo....I should have mentioned to you that the cut warnings in GTL are a lot more severe than in GTR2...It dont let you get away with much.

Ah man, that was spectacular. Only in a game could that happen. I was just watching lap one on the replay and saw your Mini do it's amazing acrobatics in the background, had to go and view that a few times. Sorry. :P

Oddly I got a stop and go after only 2 warnings. Once for running wide accidentally out the chicane, fair enough I guess although I lost time and then another on the inside of I think it was the first corner, which was quite stupid of me as I just basically completely cocked up the line and got it wrong. Normally it gives you 3 warnings before an SnG but only got two that I remember. Oh well. A bit annoying as I'd just started dicing with Adam only to have to pit to get my penalty.

A fantastic turnout for the first race of the season. I will try and get next week's race organised as soon as I can. Unfortunately I'm away on "holiday" for next week's race so Picnic will be your server starter for the race. Be nice to him!

Yeah - was surprised to see you...though my spin and some blatent and quite rightly punished short cuts by yourself were clearly the reason for that ;) .  Shame really as it was started to get quite interesting.

I haven't made it available yet. Monaco 79 is the provisional track, but I need to do basic testing on it first, which I will do tonight and then post next week's race afterwards.

I hope you all had a huge fun :)
As for me:
Im affraid, i will be out for inderteminate days   :(
I am typing from my daughter´s PC, because my is rebooting as a mad one :?
Yes, some times it loads the Windows, but after 2 minutes it begins to reboot.
But most of the times, it reboots when the scroll windows settings begin to load.
I already changed the graphic card, the memory units and i even put a powerfull wind
maker to cool the PC. Didnt work  :(
What could it be??????
Any help?

Cheers

Sounds like a virus mate!

Have you tried without the network lead in?

Theres a free program called Hijack This - that you can run and it will tell yu what programs are running and/or crashing...might be worth a go to try to find out what process is causing it.

EDIT: Try this link: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/HijackThis.shtml

Then again that might not be good enough a program - last time I used it i'm sure it did ALL processes, not just spyware stuff as it seems to be now :/

U tried "Windows Safe Mode"?
Yes Baracus, i tried to start with Windows safe mode, but the problem mantains.
Thanks for your help :)

In my experience, the power supply would be a serious contender. I've had several let go over the years, and the nice thing is that they are cheap to change.

Thanks Paul, will try that :)

Enjoyable race, got a good start and screwed it braking for T1 and skidded across track.  Apologies to anyone I hit/delayed.

2 apologies to Zacari, firstly at the last turn I was so busy trying to see if you'd got by OK I roared past my braking point and skidded across your bows.  The second time you were behind, conscious of this, I kept left and braked early for T1 to let you pass but obviously after your first scare you were careful and I slowed you down -SORRY.

I can only see the power supply causing this if it's like on it's last last days, otherwise there's nothing really going on that should drain the supply enough to cause it to reboot the PC. Have you tried re-installing windows?

Ultimately it would probably come down to the tried-tested-and-true reformatt

Could not get near my pb I had in practise to quallify and resulted in me starting 14.  Had a fair start but disappointed as I was the one that rear ended Dave early on(very sorry).  Mid way through the race I came over the chicane to see a red alfa had slid and was facing the wrong way and proceeded to take up all the track which resulted in me having nowhere to go exept hitting it head on.  After the collision I had to fight like hell to keep the alfa going with  broken suspension.  A few laps later, same chicane two blue alfas had swapped a bit of paint work and one was on its roof and had to take avoiding action not to ruin the car anymore.

Well after a few more laps and balding tyres the alfa seemed not to want to stay on the track and in frustration hit the dreaded esc button once again and immediatly regretted it.  Not to worry only first race, an excellent turnout lets hope it continues.

Video on way for al thoses interested.
