I start 10 days holidays on this day.  ;D  Then I'm back for a few days and off again for another 9 days so I don't think I'll be able to race in this series for perhaps 4 weeks.   :(

Sorry folks

Bill

Won't be able to make this one either, Working 12-8 next week :(

Which REALLY peeves me because I was looking forward to racing my TVR

Does anyone else think the cars look a bit on the small side when viewed in TV mode?  They look like T-cars or those bike engined Legends to me  ???

Did some laps here last night, mostly to see what these cars are like as I've been lucky enough to drive this track in real life so I know which way the bendy bits go.  Found the Cobra to be a real beast, although the quickest (low 1:45s), then the GT40, Shelby (with ducfreak sound mod which is incredible with the volume right up!) and TVR about the same in the low 1:46s.  Haven't tried the Lotus as I'm a big cubic inches kind of guy   :o

I'm guessing those laptimes will put me in my usual mid to rear part of the grid, alongside my non-alien comrades  ;D

Lucky you to have driven Brands, I've done trackdays at many UK tracks but never Brands, always wanted to do the full circuit, but now financial considerations (and my car in storage) mean I won't quite yet  :(

It's a damn hard track to get right, I'm finding. I've run 10 laps in both TVR and Elan and both done mid to low 1:46s and always felt I wasn't quite getting the lines right.  It's living up to its rep as a tricky track!!   Gotta say I love it even if I can't get it right yet  ;D

Only tried the GT40 so far. Never driven it competitively so fancy giving the racing legend a run around the legendary Brands Hatch.  8)
1:45.3 is my best so far. Got a 1:44 in me if i could stop cocking up at least one corner each lap  ::)
If i get time this eve i'll try out the cobra and Shelby but will probably stick to the GT40 for a cool change of car....tho it understeers like a ferry  :P

I agree with Mark, the understeer in these cars in offensive, the only saving grace being gobfulls of exit oversteer on demand!

Had some spare time last night so I put in a lengthy test session in which I settled on the TVR as it was the most driveable (which is weird as TVR and driveable are not words that are often found in the same sentence!), putting me consistently in the 1:45's on race fuel.  This might have at least kept me on the lead lap  ;).  However, SWMBO tells me we have to go out tonight  :cursing: so this race goes out the window!

I hope you all have fun and be careful at Dingle Dell corner, but not too careful as I want to watch the replay when I get back and expect to be entertained  :D

Will, i would suggest dropping an email to Mr Shelby  ;D...he still writes articles for Octane magazine each month, so drop him a pm and ask for some setup tips ;)

John...tell SWMBO to go out on her own, you've got racing to do  :-*
then duck  ;D

Great Race,    Had a great battle with Assissano and Ruskus ... . Thought i might been able to get a win when Ruskus went of Surtees but he was able to drive better on the worn tyres (i think) and caught back up.
What Happened Assisano ? you suddenly just pulled up in front of me.
Grats on the win Jeff and sorry to who ever it was i hit at Paddock ..i went to pass you on the inside but you moved across.
Cheers

what a cracking track that is and what a corking car the GT40 is to throw around it. Really enjoyed sliding around Brands with my speakers cranked up loud for Ducfreaks awesome GT40 engine sounds...i feel like i've driven the real thing and am now slightly deaf :P

Had a great close qually battle with a few other GT40 runners and got pipped right at the end for 4th by my team mate Bernie..the bugger :-*

Race started well, got a clean run through Paddock hill bend and set about trying to chase the top 3 runners, but alas they were too damn fast for me and other than Baracus keeping a watching brief about 4-6 secs behind me, i was fairly lonesome for the entire race.
Eventually even he had an off and i spent the entire race on my own racing no one except the clock, and hoping one of the front 3 would have an off. Jeff did and i chased his smoke for a couple of laps but then he disapeared off into the sunset ::)
I had a solid mistake free run from start to chequered flag and finished a fine 3rd place, with 4th fastest race lap  8)
I'll be in the Kentagon having a pint with the pit-girls when my podium laurels are ready  ;D

Now I know why I pick muscle cars. These "proper" cars are boring as hell handling wise. Luckily I had some nice racing with Dan.
Took pole surprisingly and had a good start. I could stay infront of Dan, but not drive away. After a few laps I had no brakes heading towards Surtees. Don't know what happened, I think I braked normally, but guess I messed up (can't blame technology :D).

Had a 5s gap behind Dan and Assa then and was slowly gaining. When I was close behind Dan, he got blocked by a backmarker, who was trying to make room for me. So just an unfortunate event IMO. Didn't want to overtake Dan like that and lifted off after T1 to give him the place back. Had to follow him around for a few laps as he was driving very steadily and I couldn't overtake him anywhere. After a few laps I could overtake him after the backstraight and take 2nd place behind Assa. Who later also went off at Surtees, and I got into 1st again.

I am so used to worn tires in GTL, that I didn't feel anything in this car, as it wasn't as bad as normal ;D

I thought i had enough fuel, when i went to the grass i was checking fuel gauge, when i saw ruskus  car i saw position 6 above his car, i thought it was strange, but when i crossed finish line i saw position 1 on it, i realised i lost too mutch space for him.

went to the pits to refuel and managed to gain 2 places right in the last laps, was a nice race, i thought i had the win if it wasn´t for my gas missing.

Grr, pushed out of a well deserved 4th place at the very last corner, annoyed to say the least. >:(

That was the best race I've yet driven in GTL, fast, consistent and no driving errors (except the odd missed apex).  Managed to get among the GT40s when they had incidents - I obviously couldn't compete in raw pace with the TVR - and was holding 4th.  Last corner and someone gets inside me and gives me a few side taps to get themselves turned in, sending me into the gravel and losing me over 15 seconds and 2 places just 200 yards from the end of the race.  I was fuming.  A little apology would have been nice, perhaps they weren't aware they'd sent me off (mirrors?) but this is all they had to say.

went to the pits to refuel and managed to gain 2 places right in the last laps, was a nice race, i thought i had the win if it wasn´t for my gas missing.

I think some people are too desparate to have good results and must accumulate points at all costs, its just like the moves I see on TV in Touring Cars and lower categories where people make dives at the last corner and I cover my eyes and groan  :o  Perhaps I should have got out of the way more, I would at any other time, but not at the very final corner.  Fortunately I'm not doing this for points or championship positions (I wouldn't have taken the TVR if I was :D), but still, I felt I'd really earned a place in amongst the GT40s.

Had fun for the first 5 or 6 laps with Bara, he was getting that Shelby so sideways, I had quite a few looks, got partway ahead once or twice, then he lost it, at Druids I think, shame, it was a nice dice  ;)

Interesting race in that drift-mobile. It was OK until the tyres were too worn and that caught me out a few times. I wasn't really with the programme tho last night and didn't find a groove for more than about 5 laps at a time.

Was fun being on the defensive most of the race - requires a different approach of attack.
