Notes:
1) Standing starts will be used for both races.

3) * The 'qual' session prior to race 02 is for the purpose of setting the grid in reverse order from finishing positions in race 01. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE AND REJOIN THE EVENT DURING THIS SESSION as this would disrupt the starting order.
4) Please stay within the game (if possible) even if you fail to finish in race 01. The grid order for race 02 will be decided from finishing positions in race 01. Drivers that leave before the end of race 01 will be placed at the back of grid for race 02.
5) Drivers suffering unforeseen 'disco's' in qual will be assigned their 'proper' starting position ONLY IF TIME ALLOWS. However this cannot be guaranteed and it may only be possible to start them from the back.

not a specific update but if there is a general one GT3 skins will be included.

As said in the discussion thread about the GT3 series, we are including ALL GT3 cars plus the Elise and any suitable add on cars to give variety. So your favorites will be raced too. We also aim (as much as possible) to match the cars to the circuits and the Viper CC is the obvious choice for Monza.
The main object of the series is to offer 'single make racing' which has proven to be a popular format, utilising cars that see much less usage than the majority and of course to 'mix' the grids in an effort to create an extra challenge.

Yep, shame that last night was full of vanilla only Vipers. At least now we know that a skinned Viper, Lotus and Pumped Lotus will get some use and hope to see some added in next update. The 811 is pretty well covered though :)

A few additional notes regarding the procedures for this series.

Race 1 will be run under 'standard' practice and qualifying rules and procedures.

For Race 2 we will reverse the starting grid based on the finishing positions in race 1. As this function does not currently exist as standard in GTR2, this will have to be a 'manual' process and this can only be achieved with the cooperation of all drivers present.
At the end of race 1, the server will automatically advance to 'Next Event' and will start in a race 2 'PRACTICE' session. The people present on the server at the end of race 1 will be loaded into this session in the same order they finished the race. It is very important therefore that nobody leaves the server at the end of race 1. (Ensure your setups have been saved before the next event advance ;)).

The race 2 'practice' session will state that it is a 30 Min's practice. Please ignore this as it is simply the default session when advancing from from the previous event. As soon as all drivers from race 1 are loaded, this session will be 'skipped' and advanced to race 2 Qually. Please DO NOT go out on track during this session.

The qualifying session for race 2 is where we will manually reverse the grid. This is stated as a '15 minute' session but will be cut short and advanced to Race 2 as soon as the reversal procedure is completed. Again it is important that nobody goes out on track during this session. Providing everybody has stayed connected from race 1, the reversal process should only take a couple of minutes and we will endeavour to get to the race in the shortest time possible.

Due to the nature of the procedures involved in reversing the grid in GTR2, anybody that leaves the server during or at the end of race 1(for any reason, including unfortunate disco's), or anybody that joins JUST for race 2 (pribeiro), will have to start the race at the back of the grid. PLEASE only join/rejoin when the lobby server  says Qualifying 2. and please remember this will only be a short session so you will not have much time to join.

Hopefully, with everybody's cooperation everything will run smoothly and efficiently and create some very good close racing. Please enjoy it and any complaints should be directed to either Ginsters Sponsored or Sponsored by Ginsters.  ;D

Think I might have a stab at this tonight.  Did a R2P race with the viper at monza so I feel I have an advantage over my fellow primordial slime (I'm trying to think of a term that means the opposite of alien, and that's the best I could come up with during this sentence).

Should be intensive close racing with a full grid of identical spec cars.  8)

That was a waste of an hour.
Was on the practice server before race,no problem.
Started practice and Qualifying, without a problem.
Come the start of the race,i'd just finished tweaking the car.
And i lost connection with teamspeak,i reconnected and went back to GTR2.
Finished tweaking and pressed race.
Only to sit on the grid with no one else, then lost connection.
Hope you all had a good race.
Congratz to winner(Ruskus) ::)

First race was boring, but the 2nd one was much better.

Had a good start and went from 14th (?) to 5th before T1 :). Then was behind 2 battling Vipers  :P, and they took eachother out at Parabolica. Then I was behind TT and freQ who were also battling hard and I was benefitting from it.

Can't remember how I overtook TT  :-[, but I do know that FreQ thought T1 was a hairpin  ;).

Race 1 was interesting - not sure what happened at the start but the back of the grid just didn't move when the countdown started, and we all pootled away like old fashioned gentleman racers. I thought it worked well. :D

Race 2 was a disaster - went on green but the car ahead just didn't go, almost got round him but just clipped the corner and had to back off the throttle, only to find JR coming past like a rocket ship. Then got turned around in the Retifilio, rejoined pretty much last, broke at what I thought was a conservative point heading for the della Roggia only to find myself heading for Reign Man's backside at warp factor 6 with no hope of avoiding. Gawd knows what sort of carnage I caused; waited for RM to get going ahead losing masses of time in the process.

Then it was a case of throwing myself off occaisionally as the car ahead broke so much earlier and harder than I was expecting that it was that or run into them. At both Ascari and Parabolica, on more than one occaision I broke where the black marks start instead of at my 20-40 metres later usual spot and still found myself almost smacking straight into the back of another car. If it were different cars I could understand but in the same machinery?! ??? No fun at all.

And gentlemen drivers do not weave in front of other drivers on the main straight. Especially when the driver behind has clearly committed to go to a particular side.

As I said in the chat, really sorry to the legend I took out at the start of race 1. I think it was TT but will have to watch the replay. I waited until all legends had gone past before rejoining only to find TT still behind so slowed and let him thorugh too. Got back passed after several cars went off in to the kitter litter at Lesmo 2. However with TT 2 secs behind on the last lap I let him passed as I was still feeling guilty for the start shenanigans. At least I've worked out what I did wrong, pressing the clutch not brake is obvious but it's because at the starts I used the clutch and then didn't move my left foot over to the brake  :-[ Sorry again.

Second race wasn't much better as the car in front hadn't moved by the time I got to his grid slot so I helped him get going but that messed up the front of my car I had real problems getting round the two long fast right handers.

Really enjoyed the test race a couple of weeks ago but this race was tediuous in comparison. Whether it's that I don't gel with the Viper or a Viper/Monza combination I don't know but I didn't enjoy tonight.

U cheeky monkey. My back-end-out T1 styleee works perfectly...unless I don't catch it :p

many commiserations to the track greedy Freq!  :P ta for the place mate!!  :D
Yea yea yea  :-*
Argh, better qualy than I thought in second, R1 was tight with me and Backo until I got a stop/go which put me into 9th - got past Jonzo on the last lap to make it 8th...woooo

R2 was nuts, with a crazy start getting to 2nd, then a great battle with TT and going side by side for what....3 or 4 corners?! Awesome  8)

Then my slidey T1 style let Jeff past....then I did it again.....then I stayed about 1-ish seconds behind him for a few laps. Then I cut again on the last friggin lap and had too pit again...8th place....woooo

The track cutting is an awesome idea and works really well. Shame I can't stop cutting the second chicane :(

GR all :)

Well done everyone...pretty decent races for our first outing in this format.

I don't know why but I was doing mid 1:53's for fun all day and in qually...but best lap in races was 1:56 :o
Have no idea where I lost 3 secs a lap  ::). Started first race mid table..11th I think but, as is the norm, soon found myself scrapping for last :D. Second race started 2nd with the reversal (which worked )
but got tagged into turn 1 and ended up in 13th by turn 2....ah well...I'm not used to being near the front anyway. ;D

Thanks to all that made it and for selecting the correct car after the noob that started the server forgot to alter the settings :-[

well done JR....how can we stop you?????? :notworthy:

Admittedly that was prolly was less fun than 811 race. Either the Viper or the track didn't make for the closest of racing. Having said that, I still had much fun :)

Race 1 had a nice battle with Darren. He whizzed past me on the straight bits and I'd outbrake him into the curvy bits. Took me a while to adjust cause, as Dave mentioned, Darren seemed to brake far earlier than I guessed but that was a result of a very different setup I think. Nice.

Race 2 and it was back to battling PR for a change ;). Great fun as always mate and nice to come out on top for a change. We'll do it again (Wednesday I bet :)).

Realise things didn't go perfectly, particularly the standing start may have to be reviewed, and we are open to constructive criticism. I did think reversing the grid seemed to work well (old Pseudo is getting faster ;)), pleasing to hear what Ruskus said and would be interested to hear what the other fast chaps think of it. As its really designed to give them some extra fun/challenge.

Also nice to see some new faces tonight. You'll be more than welcome again next week :). Hope I got your entries right in race results.

Monza has a big strip of tarmac on the right, which made it possible for me to gain almost 10 places. This isn't the case at other tracks which will make it much more difficult. It did give me a challenge the second race, behind FreQ.
Twitsy tracks with slower cars will be much more difficult (Adria).

Don't worry, Picnic, things happen with too many pedals.  ;D
Race 2 - like Freq wrote, we were side by side through some corners, always managed to let space to another.  8)  Cheeky Ruskus was just waiting for the outcome and when I danced over some kerbs I lost half a second and both drove away.  ::)  Then I was watching my back where Backo and Madd-Ripp were slowing themselves down and let me finish 3rd.  :)  Oh, wait - 2nd.  :D  Bad luck, Freq.  :-\
Great fun, these fun races.  ;)  Looking forward to the next, though some other car might be more fun.  :D
Good show, Legends and Leg-ends.  :P

Well i had fun for my 1st foray into your racing league, even if i'm not in it, was still fun being out there. Hopefully i can get my setups and stuff improved and stay on par with the slower trafffic. Still getting my rig setup and happy with all the cars as my momo is a bit outdated and only runs well on XP. Seat time is maily what i lack, been a while since i done competetive racing...N2003 was the last league racing i done in stock cars so this is a lil bit of a change of pace and a learning curve on the setups and different car behaviours. Hopefully i didn't mess anyone up troo much out there.

 Crash.

Really enjoyed the format.  For me, single make 20 minute races are the holy grail, and strangely enough I like this viper, it's as stable as a super tanker although it sounds like a bee breaking wind in a can  ;D.

Race 1 rocked.  Started last after missing qually again and had great fun being hunted down by PA.  Amazingly I didn't just throw it off the black stuff which is what I usually do if another car is within 200 yards of my rear bumper.  PA had some sort of problem, which freed me up to chase MJ which was a bit of a surprise as he's out of my league so far and kindly enough at this race he drove into the gravel at the last corner to give me 9th I think  :-*.

Race 2 was fun but not so good.  I think I punted Ossie off at the last turn on lap 1  :-[, which was totally my fault as I missed the brake point whilst looking at another viper along side me, sorry fella.  After letting him back on in front we ran together until I hit a spinner which took the front of my car off.  That gave me uber understeer which caused me to be slow in front of RM who then taped me into a spin.  I was actually looking for a place to let him past when he taped me which was a shame.  After waiting and letting me rejoin in front I flashed him past as the only reasonable thing to do given that I'd be a few seconds slower than normal.

All in all great fun and long may this sort of thing continue  :D

I really dislike the Viper, and Monza isn't a preffered track.

I think I sealed the final nail when I spent to much time with the M3 for Sunday/Tuesday's race. Trying to make the adjustment from an M3 to a Viper in an hour and a Half is a bit tricky. I was doing consistant 1:54:300s when I was offline practicing in the Viper a week ago, but I lost all that speed come Tuesday. I hate Monza in general, and the stricter (but much needed) cutting rules made it tough to manage the understeer of an American car without cutting corners. I didn't manage that well and Ended up going for a Stop/Go on lap 9. Came back out on my last lap and caused someone to roll at Ascari. Not to sure who it was, but I beleive they were likely done the race, as I was 1 Lap back, and they were doing about 40km on the racing line - if you still were racing, I apologize, I came blazing out of Ascari to fast to stop in time.

I enjoy this series alot, as Single make races always make for some tight racing, however I wasn't fond of this Car/Track combo. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE M COUPES THO! (Even tho it will be a boring looking grid)

Done some testing and have added some dead zone to my brakes and and steering to free up the wheel and hopefully that will cure my dragging a boat anchor behind me as i go lol

Do we know which car will be driven at which track in the future races?  :)

Here you go TT

17/9 Monza-Viper (best to have S6 track in first week cause we've already prolly had enough of said track going into 2nd week?)
24/9 Barca National-Elise
1/10 Adria-811
8/10 Donni National-BMW
15/10 Spa-Exige GT (from here http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2027 ?) Been looking for other mods from there but can't see much that would be suitable.

These are confirmed and we don't want to go much further without a mid-season review. The championship page does give track details and we'll see if we can add car details there as well. Anybody found any other mods by the way? The Exige one is a blast  :)

Some mods:

Panoz GTR1 Mod Version 3.0 (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=5726):
Haven't tried it and doubt about the legality

Porsche Carrera Cup 2006 V2 (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=5699) with physics update (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=5720):
Also haven't tested it, but heard good things about it. It was good for rFactor and might prove okay for GTR2. Just a shame it's another Porsche ;D

Mazda MX-5 Cup (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=4788):
Dunno about this one, not tried and and not sure about the mod itself in general.

AUDI RS4 MOD (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=4242):
Heard great things about this one, worth tryin I think.

Mod Prototypes 2000-2004 SCC (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=3869):
Something different from usual GTR2 cars which might be fun for a change.

MMM V8 Supercars 2006 (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=1982):
This mod is great, great sounds and nice physics. Small drifts and bumper to bumper racing on one of the Aussie tracks.

I know many are not fit for GT3, but so isn't the Exige as well. Maybe go from GT3 cup to just cup races?

Ta Ruskus

Of those mods, the Carrera Cup could maybe included into the GT3 ethos for me. Will look into it further.

I'd say the V8 is the best of those I've tried, didn't enjoy the MX-5 one at all, and hope we get to use it at another time. We already have to fit a McLaren special in somewhere :)

Totally lacklustre performance from me last night. I struggled to maintain any enthusiasm after the 80 minute race here the night before. (odd as i am a motorsport junkie...a different track would have helped) and had no previous practise in the vipers until about 15 minutes before the event. My teamies leant me their setups but i didnt feel comfy with either and so struggled for pace in the qually and race sesh's.
Race 1 start was odd, as half the grid belted off on green and half moved off like they was expecting a formation lap...i gleefully took to the open straight presented to me  ;D
Was running 8th for a long spell then on the last bloody lap i stupidly ran wide at Parabolica and sat in the sand pit as John and (a)nother steamed past so i finished a cack 10th.
I really didnt want to do race 2 as had other real life crap i had to get on with but stuck it out to support the pioneers of this new series.  ....but alas after about 2 laps i decided to park up trackside and retire as couldnt afford to lose another 20 minutes of the evening.
Viper/Monza combo not up their on my favourites  :P

I tried V8 mod at R2P and I must say it's even worse to drive and set up than ViperCC yesterday.  >:(  No, I don't think it would be enjoyable to drive yet another tanker.  ::)

I tried Exige mod at TPG league and I must say I find driving this car very much. It feels solid and powerfull, but can be turned.  :smartass:

V8's are awesome, they turn by sliding  ;D. What better way to turn than that  :P

Guys thanks for last night, & sorry for the cock-up with car selection for race 1 (did'nt look b4 clicking...DOH!). I really enjoyed it as it was the first time I'd done such things, even tho I finnished 2 laps down after a puncture on lap 2. Hope to try it again, and do a little better....maybe only 1 lap down is a target to aim for :D.

I was a bit surprised to even get the choice - I thought the dedi server could use the single-make UKGTR classes?

It can. But only when the noob that starts the server remembers to alter it  :D
