I think you got the wrong version of the track there. Lap times should be around 1m 30s.

Although I like this 1967 version, it just isn't the same in a GT car.  :-\ It was much better in a 1967 F1 car. Ah the GPL days. Fond memories. :)

Hi Guys

Sorry I have missed the last couple of races. Near the end of chemo and been too tired. Hopefully I will be there for this one.

I would agree, this track would have been far better in the GTC65 class. I've raced here with the No-grip crowd for a couple of races in the GT65 cars and its fantastic with some superb drift action. Of course if we were using the superior P&G mod for our 70's cars we would still be getting some classic drift action  ;)
Great track though, looking forward to it  8)

Aha, another ex-GPL-er, well said!  Last week I dug out my copy of GPL and blew the dust off when I saw we were racing here and did some practice, those F1 cars are so much more lively, constant steering corrections, absolutely wonderful.  And Zandvoort was always one of my very favourite GPL tracks.  This is what race tracks should be like, super fast corners unblighted by chicanes and kerbs.

Then I jumped in a GTL Pantera and it felt so dead, but it was only 1 second slower than the Ferrari 312.  Must be a higher grip factor and slicks.  Still, this is Goodwood on steroids, will be an exciting race.

Exactly. I was in a UKGPL zandvoort race on sunday (got disco'ed right before the start :( ) so no reason why you couldn't do both. I had a 1.26.6 in a cooper, but there was one guy with a 1.24 in the same car. Best I got so far in a 911 is a 1.30.8.

Trying to choose between the BMW and Panterrifying.

Already took out the BMW twice this season, may give the Pantera shot.

lol, yeah take the Brabham  ;)

Tried 6 laps in the Capri and got a 1:30.1, but it's a really understeery mess in the slow corners for me, same time and understeer in the fast corners with the 911, I'm sure experts at car setup can dial that out, but for me other cars were significantly faster...... ;D

What a way to end it  ;D.

Picked up 3 places because people were going off by themselves or with help of others. Then in lap 11 I took an inside curb and rolled on my roof, slid over the dunes for miles and finaly took off over one of those sandbanks and landed behind the fence and was falling through the earth.
Maybe it's good it ended soon, as it was turning out be utter boring race.

Started 4th, when right back to 3rd, passed Baracus on the straight, when braking to the t1, i locked rear wheels  :o and car ended in a bump not allowing me to leave, glad a farmer that was watching started diging and i managd to get car out, lost plenty of time there, then after being last i went right back to 10th place but got tired of racing in tracks that seem like village roads.

Glad this is ending, i hate the british "classic tracks".

Lol @ picture Assa  ;D.

The track suited the cars perfectly, but I didn't like the (Dutch and not British:)) track. Very hard to overtake if not impossible because corners are so fast, no curbs and high sabdwalls right next to the track, which caused me to flip.

Eeeeeeshhhhhh....you can't put a wheel wrong at that place :o...touch the grass, your facing backwards, touch a curb your facing backwards. Eventually after enough spins and rock climbing on those bankings I braked too late for turn 1 whilst busy lighting a ciggy ::) and ended up the wrong side of the fence. Couldn't find a bump to try jumping back over so left :D

Second lap, did you stop and wait for me Madd at turn 2?....cos you had no need to really, you didn't touch me or anything, I just outbraked myself and got into a spin by touching the grass...

Grats to race winner and paodium...ant to the series winner and podium too.

Enjoyed my first GTL season....hope there is another one as it is now so popular ;)

I'm so sorry to Madd, there he is, going for championship positions and I tag him on turn 3.  And from there it just got worse and worse as I kept driving like a ****.  I let the whole field through for my transgression but I still think it was poetic justice that I hit Bara's stationary car at the end which killed my car 100 yds from the finish.  I deserved that.

Hard to overtake, yes, but still a pleasurable track to drive if you can stay on it.... :(

Great track, that was good fun in the Pantera despite being 7 laps down and no chance of any racing. The track has a real flow to it that if you get every lap then it works and if you don't then it's bye bye into the sky. Managed to get 3rd fastest race lap for my troubles which is not bad.

Congratulations to Baracus on the win and championship win very well deserved.

Sorry about causing a yellow flag for so long on the S/F straight. I was receiving bad news on the phone just as the lights were turning green (Gran passed away today). Was all I could do to just pull over into the pits and sit there for quite a while. Afterwards I decided that I would have a race around anyway even though so many laps down, you know forget about stuff etc.

i thought that was a cracking finale race to end the season on.  8)

The track is even more fun with the GT65 cars but the 76 cars looked superb snaking through the sand dunes

Knew i was at a disadvantage compared to the capris here but the 911 was still fantastic to race here. i was thoroughly enjoying myself and didnt put a foot wrong until towards the end of the race when i annoyingly ran wide at T1 twice to allow Madd to gain and pass nicely up the inside.
I chased the gaggle of capris up front for the entire race but everytime we got to the back straights they stretched away from me  :(
But was very pleased to bring the 911 home in 6th with team mate Bernie in a fine 2nd place :thumbup1:
Its a real shame us Legends drivers missed a few rounds each or we might have taken the fight with team RV right to the wire...maybe next season ;)

Really enjoyed all these races on the addon tracks and very glad to see full grids again, great stuff!

Congrats to Baracus on another fine drive to the win  :thumbup2:

The BMW was too slow in the corners here - no real grip, had to keep lifting of on the fast corners to avoid drifting wide.
I was losing too much time in the slow corners on and after turn 1.
Had an ok race, a few good battles with Ossie and tom cooper - lost it on the last lap after spending the whole race on the track, letting Tom by...

Please can someone confirm if there will be another season, because i really enjoy Thursday nights here racing GTL...a break from the norm. 8) good attendances this season and some new players  8)

Anyway, congrats to all who raced  ;)

Great race on a great track to round off an excellent GTL season.

Some excellent track/car combo choices Simon  ;), thanks. I'm sure a lot of us have enjoyed the racing as a result of your time spent organising etc

Drove a consistent race and picked up places as the leaders fell off in front of me. PRibeiro had me under pressue for the entire race, looming large in my mirror every single lap.

Congrats on the win Baracus and season title

Well  a pb in quali by half a second was good but just not good enough, made a poor start and Assassino got past then got nudged in hairpin, tut tut Steve!  :'(

So I thought Jesus! Its like Groundhog Day! and began a very enjoyable fight back, only to spin the car when Ossie went off (panicked  ::) ) and had to start all over again!  :D

Basically just got the hammer down and went from virtually last to 5th again, a few more laps and I could have caught Backo up I think but still, no matter.

For me this series has seen some of the closest and hardest driving I have had the pleasure to enjoy, its finally clicked for me and some of the tracks have been brilliant, so congrats to Simon for an excellent season and hopefully a lot more of them.

Grats to the podium, special Congratulations to Baracus and GS, well done.

And I'm very sorry to hear of your terrible news Simon and family, may she RIP.

Sorry to hear that a great season finale had to end with such terrible news.

I want to thank you all for the great racing. It was fun for me to finally find a way to do some clean racing instead of people barging into each other all the time. Furthermore I hope that a wasn't too much in anyone's way since my races usually are at the back of the grid.
I must admit that I -when watching races on TV - actually look how drivers deal with being lapped..

Anyway, I hope that there is another season because I really enjoyed this league... and to score my first championship points on a home track really tops it off.

Very sorry to hear your sad news Simon :(

Doesn't feel right chatting about our "hobby" with real-life matters like that rearing their ugly head...

...but here goes.

I played it safe with the 906 thinking the last thing I needed today was another engine failure. That and the fact I couldn't be at all consistent in the PantScarer. (and I don't drive Ford's out of principle).

Track seems far too bumpy for it and I thought if I could be consistent it would be better than being fast and falling off!

I was pretty determinded to not let my mind wander today... I was seriously feeling the pressure from Jeffster's late charge in the season so really focussed on not making mistakes today. In the end it didn't matter as I saw him leave at some point in the race :(

Then I just went for it but thought I was going to run out of gas - my mental arithmetic is cruddy so actually I had nothing to worry about but I spent the middle of the race short-shifting which caused me to spin and get stuck on a kurb (change of rhythm threw me not just the short-shifting). Eventualy it rolled down the kerb and back to the road, but I was facing across the track and didn't see Bernie as he flew past to take the lead and I touched his car a bit, sorry about that!!

Was gutted with my mistake but collected myself again and realised at this point I DID have enough petrol so I went for it again and to my surprise managed to get into the lead again (from 4th) in 3 laps I think :D

My heart was racing so much :)  A real adrenalin race. What a great race for the last of the season!!

Thanks for your virtual 'champers' guys... it's been really a great season :D

Huge thanks to Simon (and Dave) for organising the events for us all.... muchios gracias :)

Now... how do I start that Poll for P&G next season ;P

P.S. Nicely done Bernie on that fine 2nd :)   I sense a new threat for next season ;)

Hi

Sorry for your loss Simon.

Managed to get some practice in and ended up in the 911. This is a car I don't usually like but was great fun on this circuit. Started 18th, was up to 12th by lap 4 then got hit from behind in the second corner where nobody in their right mind should be trying to overtake. By another 911 as well! The car didn't handle properly after that and I came off towards the end of the track, smashed the front of the car and it became undrivable. So an afternoon completely wasted because somebody didn't have the patience or common sense to wait for a proper overtaking opportunity.

It wouldn't be so bad if they had the decency to apologise. I am seriously thinking of giving up racing these faster cars. It seems there are far too many people who can put a quick lap in now and again in them but are not capable of setting them up to be consistent and because of this keep ruining others races.

I've noticed a little bit of crazy driving creeping back into the races now that attendances have gone up. Still a few with that win at all costs or impatience mentality  :(
Keep it gentlemanly for the classics gents !

Talking of gents, big congrats to Baracus on his well deserved championship, he was dominant this season, well done mate!

And big thankyou to Simon for using some excellent add-on tracks, they have boosted the series superbly. Its a breath of fresh air to compete on some of the classic tracks around the world rather than the over-used stock circuits. :thumbup1:

Something that struck me the most between driving with you guys and MARA is that your pitting out discipline is a bit "sketchy". I've been overtaken whilst pitting out, often witnessed pit lane speeding and have had drivers declare that they are "pitting out", leave the pit lane, then plant themselves in the middle of the track with fast qualifying cars rapidly approaching

yeah i noticed pitlane discipline has gone down the swanny too. It used to be strict, perhaps the moderators need to start dishing out some virtual slaps to a few inconsiderate drivers.

Who is the moderator for this series anyway? ...strike great vengeance upon thee  ;D

We've also been noticing some problems with add on tracks recently and last night was particulary bad for it. As you came out of the pits the other cars would appear out of nowhere. This happened in GTR2 at Adria too. When this happens it makes being pit out safety even more of an issue. Other than not using addon circuits there's not much we can do about the cars appearing out of thin air problems. Just have to be wary of the fact that cars are coming out of thin air at the fastest bit of the circuit and trying to stay offline is the only way to try and avoid anything untoward.

If you have been overtaken by drivers speeding in the pit lane then please do report it. One stern warning is usually all it takes from a moderator to correct the behaviour. Even though qualifying sessions are not recorded by the replay system these sort of incidents especially should be reported.

i didnt notice any cars 'appearing' last night Simon  ???

Do you mean other cars in their pitslots or cars coming down the straight?
Either way people should be using 'pit etiquette' anyway and only pulling out on track when clear and/or staying to the pit-side of the track until upto race speed.
I also had the odd lap ruined by people trying to race me when i'm on a flyer and they had just emerged from the pits last night...grrr.
Pull over and flash flyers through !  Though last night was a tricky track to move aside, i had to take to the dunes a couple of times to let flyers through :P

I did notice cars just  'appearing' when coming out of the pits last night, luckily I always stayed to the right or otherwise it could have been messy.  :o

Cars coming down the main straight at full speed would appear about 50 yards from where you were pulling out. The only choice was to drive on the inside and hope you didn't get in anyone's way cause your entry speed to T1 was a lot lower than theres. Same thing happened at Adria. Jeff had the same problem (confirmed over TeamSpeak) and we had quite a few Team Shark guys say the same thing at Adria too.
