3) * The 'qual' session prior to race 02 is for the purpose of setting the grid in reverse order from finishing positions in race 01. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE AND REJOIN THE EVENT DURING THIS SESSION as this would disrupt the starting order.
4) Please stay within the game (if possible) even if you fail to finish in race 01. The grid order for race 02 will be decided from finishing positions in race 01. Drivers that leave before the end of race 01 will be placed at the back of grid for race 02.
5) Drivers suffering unforeseen 'disco's' in qual will be assigned their 'proper' starting position ONLY IF TIME ALLOWS. However this cannot be guaranteed and it may only be possible to start them from the back.

Some bad news I'm afraid. The Exige mod is sadly incomplete and causing UKGTR's finest, thanks for your help Picnic, some real problems. At present it looks very unlikely that we will be able to use it :(.

I've got to take the blame for this as I had done some extensive testing and passed it o.k., without envisaging problems at server end. Unfortunately some important files are missing from that section of mod. Hope no one has done any practice yet.

Will keep you informed and will have final decision for you by Friday night. It will definately be at Spa and the 811 will replace the mod if we have no luck fixing it. Sorry chaps.

Spa would be perfect for the Mclaren Mod  8)

I haven't actually got round to trying it yet, but as I understand it from a quick perusal of the mod, what's missing is any way to select the Exige and just the Exige when starting the server - you can select the '2004' built-in game class and the Exige will be available, but there's no way to restrict it so that no other car can be selected. Is that right, and is it a showstopper?

Seems a bit worse than that Dave, I was testing this all out after last nights sprint and couldn't persuade the server to do anything but give me the dreaded "Booted as possible cheat" message. It took me 4 or 5 goes to get in Adria earlier when I tried.

Just to confuse matters I tried to run a dedicated server on my local install, and guess what there is a Lotus Cup as a selection group. However that appears to have come because sometime in the passed I installed V1.1 of the mod. That installs a group of 24H cars, v1.40 installs a GT car. Sadly I'm not telepathic (more telepathetic) and people assuming I can guess what I need from one, need from the other, must uninstall, randomly change is beyond me.

The Mclaren was next on our list MJ. There is no way we can test it in time for Spa though.

However, I've gotta say I'm losing my mod mojo. As a racer, niavely I thought it would be a blast using all the mods out there and wondered why we weren't. Now, sitting on the other side of the fence, I am beginning to wonder if some are more aggro than they are worth. I just hope the Exige mod is unrepresentative of the other mods out there, and especially the Mclaren one :) .

How about the MX-5 cup? It's on no-grip.com. Should make a change from all the GT cars!

Heard bad things about the physics of that mod.

I still like the V8's  ;D. And they work online, as I've already raced them there.

The physics seem OK, a little Gran-Turismo style but still fairly realistic.
Which V8's do you mean? I know they race some in australia, but I haven't seen any mods for them.

Great mod, understeer into corners, and niiiiiice powerslides coming out ;D, and not to forget, 185mph at the Bathurst straight  ;D

I've got some good and bad news :) :'(.

Bad news. The Exige mod will not function properly despite Picnic's best efforts to "fix" it. That means this race will now feature the Porsche 996 Cup (811) instead.

Good news. So far, we seem to be having rather better luck with the V8 mod :). Its as good as JR says it is :)

More good/bad news  ;), here is provisional scedule for rest of season

They look like nascars to me, so they should be alright on an oval!
Why hasn't anyone done a mod of the V8's they race in australia? V8 pick-up trucks! That would be much better.

If you are doing a race at Sugo please at least try the MX-5cup cars, they are perfect for that track and the physics seem fine to me. They have the mod at No-Grip.

Thats the one I used. And I'm confused by what you chaps say, this IS the Aussie V8 mod and its ruddy good sideways fun  :)

By the way, there is a test server on the go at the moment (UKGTR Test-normal pw) if anyone wants to give it a go, then complain its really no good ;)

I've seen adverts for Australian V8-powered pick-up truck racing, I think it was on Motors TV, not sure though.

I've had some great races at Phillips Island, its wideish has some nice overtaking points, so thats where we are going this time :). JR, I will try those tracks as I've only done the tracks I've always wanted in mod (Bathhurst is great but I think it might be a blood bath) and who knows, we may have time to try them later. Anyways, a bit of sea does mean this track is different to normal ones ;)

It also seems the Mclaren mod works as well :). So, barring disaster, that will provide season finale.

race before the finish?  :P

True Phillip Island does show good potential  for a good race, as you say, it's wide and flowing. I just love streettracks (except that awefull Monaco, dunno what people see in that), and Adelaide is awesome, with high curbs which you can really ram over in those V8's

I've always liked Adelaide, used to love it back when I played MF1GP.

Gonna miss this one, safe driving all :)

I only suggested the Nordschleife because I have never seen it being used online before. I didn't expect anyone to actually use it anyway.

P.S. Good call with Phillip Island ginsters, saw it on the motogp yesterday, brilliant track. Shame I won't be able to race it.

That was fun but could have been so much better :) :'(.

First race was tough. After pipping Purdie, but not on the same planet as your man up front, I pretty much held a gap to 3rd, after Purdie slipped off, and managed to keep JR in sight for whole of race (lucky I set view distance to far ;)), Then realised the gas was going to be tight so loosened right off with just enough squirt to hold off a flying Jon at the end. Congrats JR, exceptional driving.

Next race was much more fun. Got burned by JR at start but settled in behind him as he moved through field. Looking forward to hanging on to him but an unfortunate incident meant I didn't see him again :'(. Real shame. Then following Jan as he gamely held on but a slip at Rouge gave me the upper hand and I passed tight into corner (no idea where you went but hope I left you enough room). Then a flying Purdie caught me and passed after a slight slip up. I was faster virtually everywhere but the man with steel kahunas threw it threw rouge and gapped me every time ;D. Great stuff for a couple of laps then he got disco'ed. Feel robbed of two fun battles :'(

Gotta say standard was far better from where I stood, but still room for improvement. Good stuff all

Had a pretty good 1st race and had a couple of scraps there, but not really quick enough to even challenge for a podium but 4th was a nice, but lucky, place to finish.  :)

As for the second race, had some real tough fights there but and incident put me into the wall and then all hell broke loose at Eau Rouge, the whole rear of the car was destroyed, gutted tbh could have squeeked a podium with some luck.  :(

What a plonker, first race I decided to spin on the 1st lap and take off the front spoiler. Pit crew told me to expect some understeer so I then lost it through Au-rouge and decided that a pitstop was indeed in order. With me pratting around unsure if the limiter was on or off I sped in the pits resulting in a second visit being required :-\ Came out a lap down to the car in front so just drove round getting practice for the 2nd race.

Well that went little better :( Realised half way through the race countdown I had the wrong setup, the default one and not Jeff's tweaky demon one. Loaded that in a panic and joined the grid. Stupidly waggled the shifter on the G25 and the car started to roll, didn't get a stop / go for that but starting the race in 4th gear was not very successful. Still kept me out of the bedlam of the 1st few corners. Race then  proceeded pretty well, gained a few places due to people having offs and even over took for places on merit.

Then...........

Picnic, did my frantic braking sent you off to pits? I hope not, I would hate to think I was the cause of your retirement.  :(

the pit crew came on and told me I needed some fuel. Of course in the panic I loaded Jeff's setup which was still set for qually  :'( It was at this point I lost the will to live and happened to coincide with this event TT. I just bailed.

All in all a very poor showing from me tonight.

Well done to all those who get more weight penalties ;)

Saw SBG do mid 2:25's in P1 and was afraid as I did a 2:25.5 in TT (the gamemode, not the person  ;D) without the ballast. I found another second in Q2 and got pole surprisingly.

Race 1: Had a very good start and had a 1.1 s lead after Eau Rouge. SBG was behind me and overall quicker in the lap, but I won alot at Eau Rouge, enough for me to lose the rest of the lap.

Race 2: Again a good start and overtook SBG and was behind Madd and Darren. overtook Madd as he went wide at Les Combes and I was behind Darren. Few laps later I overtook him at La Source when I got a better exit out of the Bus Stop. Was right behind Jan, in 2nd place, looking for a place to overtake. Later got tapped by Darren at la Source when I was looking for my way past. Damaged my car badly, losing about 1-1,5s a lap, but it looked like a racingaccident or just a series of unfortunate events  :-* ;D.

Dropped to 9th, behind Madd and MJ. MJ spun at the Bus Stop and was in 8th. Got a better exit out of La Source and got on the inside before Eau Rouge at Madd. He then went off and took Backo with him, who was very close behind me.

Purdie dropped out (what happened?) and I was in 4th at that time, behind Jan again. Overtook him, can't remember how anymoer tho  ::), and I was following TT. Had a 2,5s gap between me and TT, with only 1 lap to go. Pushed like madd and got upto 0.3s at the finish  ;D.

Fun racing and this big track suits the reversed track thing better.

Grats to SBG on the win.

totally enjoyable ;D

First race was best for me...got a decent start and was doing ok for a couple of laps till MJ, I think it was just left me for dead through eau rouge....(must get 7th gear fitted to my car too :)). I then had jan behind me and got distracted so he got passed too...I nearly re took the place off him a couple of laps later....but...thats another story :(.
I then tried my hardest to fend off Purdie :o. Managed for about 4 laps but it was only a matter of time before I cracked under the pressure and he sailed off into the distance.

Race 2 was poor for me...got sandwiched (fairly I may add) into eau rouge on the first lap and ended up spinning with not being able to find a line through...spent the rest of the race on my own enjoying the sights.

Great racing tonight...both starts were relatively incident free and there was some excellent wheel to wheel stuff going on.

Grats to All...oh, and the winners/podiums. :D

really enjoyed that track/car combo.... :)

Race One

Quali'd 3rd and stayed there for a few laps, defending off BACKO and FreQ....into Bus Stop i think BACKO was quite late on brakes and me early and he tapped me into a spin. I dropped down to 10th and BACKO slowed to let me pass (thank you mate  ;)) and I was distracted into La Source and tapped Darren round into a spin. I stopped so he could go.....very sorry Darren  :-[  :(

Then had some wicked racing with Pseudo, Jan Duijs and Mark Jonzo!!  ;D finishing 8th! pace was fierce!  8)

Race Two

Started 8th and was hoping for top 5 :-X!

Race 2 was poor for me...got sandwiched (fairly I may add) into eau rouge on the first lap and ended up spinning with not being able to find a line through...

saw that right in front of me!  :o looooollll, just missed you  :D

Started with some great racing with BACKO and then, him and I slipped past Freq and Truetom on the same corner!  O0
Ruskus and Darren collided and then I got past BACKO (first and probably last time I say that  ::)) into 2nd!  :)
Then hassled Gingsters and managed to slide past on the run to La Source, managed to hold on for a couple of laps with him ALL over me  and by closing my eyes through eau rouge  :D

Then 3 laps from the end...braking for Les Combes my comp slowed to 1fps and i kept it floored hoping it wouldn't freeze the car in the middle of the track if i disco'd and I would just go straight on but then the whole comp seized....goddamit!!!  :-\ :) thankfully car off track :'(

;D great racing tonight! cheers all!  ;D would have nice to have had a high finish to show for my efforts!  :-\

Had no praccy and expect to crash and burn in this one ;D Started 7th just ahead of TT who pressured me in the early stages. I managed to start pulling away from him and trying to catch Freq. Made no inroads, then there was a collision which put us up a few places, then Freq spun leaving me 3rd :o Thought that's where I would end but SBG started to come back to me from around 5s I think, finished a few tenths behind. I thought was on fire but this was only 'cus he was running out of fuel ;D
Grats to Jeff and SBG on winning,
Nice race and cya at the next GT3.
