Cool I can make this. I love WTCC, I just never driven Macau before, so I'll test the armco a lot.

woot! Macua, wow, have never raced here ever in a sim so look forward to testing the fabled ground of Macau.  8)

...shame its WTCC  :(  thought F3 would be a better blast. :-\
Only used them once in Race for a quick try, whats hot and whats not?
Fancy an Alfa, belissimo. :-*

I think 7 laps won't be 25 minutes, as laptimes will be around 2:40. So I think 9 laps would come closer  :)

I'll be just the 3 seconds off the pace, then.

I think laprecord is 2:27 or something so I estimated that time. No idea what laptimes I'm gonna do as I keep wrecking the car against the wall ;D

I'm about 2.42'ish as well.
One hard track to get right.

My best is 2.36, mostly doing 37's.

I give the corners silly names that I can remember, then I know where I am, when to brake or stay flat out.

That's called a typo. D and F are next to eachother and it's easy to make a mistake.
I also can't believe a Dutch guy spots bad english from some English people  :P

Have a good one.

I thought that was what Race07 was going to bring us? ... New challenges, racing a variety of cars which we don't have in GTR2 or GTL on (new) well made circuits.
Ok Macau is a bitch, but give it 30mins or so and you may even start to like it.

Not for me I'm afraid. There are some corners you can barely get the car around even at 5mph let alone racing speeds. Yeah it looks good on TV but I don't want to drive it. Just my feelings, if you guys like it, enjoy it, certainly think you've picked the only car to race here. It'd be death on wheels in a single seater.

Are you being serious here MJ? ;D At least the WTCC cars have some "padding" on them.

I really enjoy the challenge of this, and most, street circuits, and think its a blast hotlapping (well I'm not that hot) around here. I guess we'll find out how good it is for racing tonight. It obviously isn't for everyone but I'm looking forward to trying this.

i thought Macau was famous for its single seater racing ala F3000 etc  ???

Though must admit after doing some laps last night i can see how it would all end in tears rather quickly.
One question though...how the heck are we supposed to overtake anyone on this one lane course?
Its more like a rally tarmac special stage in Corsica or somefink  :P

Set your car up for the straights. I'm running 1 rearwing and increased 6th gear, so that I'm doing around 240-250kp/h.
Pole position will be very important, and also damagecontrol :P.

Ruskus is right, the straights make up the time here. I was hot lapping and when i got a poor exit of the bend called Fishermans I was dropping nearly a second. Iam not sure what speed iam getting, but I know the tyres overheat.

I'm at a loose end tonight and was thinking of coming along for a race.

However after doing a few laps I'm not sure. I just don't like the track in the slightest.

It seems like a tarmac rally stage and not a race track.

There is no space to race and I think any accidents will have knock on effects for the cars behind

Be nice to have you along Kerr, think we need the numbers.

Post by: Mark J on January 08, 2008, 08:41:21 PM +0000
Well that was a complete waste of time  :(

For a start i was only allowed to practise Macua Reverse last night ??? had no option to do the version we raced tonight.
So qually was spent trying to learn the track and pick myself out of the armco on occasion.

Race lap 1 about 2-3 cars went into the armco at T2 blocking the track so i had to run wide into the escape zone to avoid hitting anyone. Then had to wait whilst Tinman extracted himself only to quit.
Tried to catch pack up, clipped a barrrier and got a puncture only a third of a lap around. :o Crawled all the way around to the pits.
The AI then took over, made my G25 fully invert lock. So when the car left the slot and made its way down the pitlane, as soon as it gave me back control the car turned hard left into the barrier for crying out loud and smashed the suspension :D

Graphically the game is awesome but it hasnt grabbed me at all for racing and is obviously still bugged  :(

Couldn't finish as I'm suffering terrible pains in my lower right abdomen, right kidney and the right .... Sweating of pain now really.
Was hitting the armco more and more and was no use continuing.

Post by: Kerr on January 08, 2008, 09:11:04 PM +0000
That is one very odd track. Zero space and very difficult to do a clean lap without a nudge here of there.

At the start I noticed Baracus' car creeping forward prior to the green light.

As the light went green Jeff got passed only to have a big sideways moment at 140MPH to allow me back passed.

Chasing Baracus only to realise he has to serve stop and go penalty. Unlucky.

From then on after that I had breathing space over Jeff and after he made a few mistakes I had a nice gap.

My car was dead after 3-4  laps. It was way down on power. Instead on making 152MPH at the end of the straight I was only able to make 138MPH.

The tyres were shot too. Less and less grip every lap. I need to learn this game better as I really don't the first thing about it.

Not sure about this track at all. Way too tight for my liking.

Well, I'm a glutton for punishment, but I really enjoyed that.
Lost my splitter on about lap 3 but it was still drivable so managed to bring it home. Got the tyres warn message on lap 9 so was good to know the tyres only last that long.
Thanks to everyone that turned up.

That sounds nasty Ruskie  :o

Catalogue of disasters for me:-

1) Car rolled at start when I put it in gear, so I got a stop go before even starting as I dint notice it in time to dab the brake - and probably didnt have enough feet to do so anyway!

2) Annoyed - pushed too hard on opening lap and took my spoiler off

3) Stopped end of Lap 1 to serve stop/go.

4) Exiting pits got another stop/go for speeding!

5) Limped around with no splitter - served 2nd stop go.

6) Was 90 secs behind guy infront, so thought I would stop to repair the car as it was no fun.

7) Got out ahead of Brian and managed to pull away tho I guess he wasnt pushing as he had a nice lead by then it looked like.

So... in a race I could/should have won - the opposite happened and finished last :D

No sir... I don't like it :)

Actually it was quite fun - I like the track once you get your eye in. But I agree, too many flaky bugs and odities that spoil the illusion of it actually not being a game.

I could hold you for the first couple of laps Baracus after you came out but my car was losing so much power every lap.

I managed a 2.33 early on and I was about 5 seconds  slower come the end as no power.

Title: Re: Race 07 - Macau - Jan 8
Post by: Andy Eves on January 08, 2008, 09:36:35 PM +0000
I started by messing qauli up, I was on a good hot lap and downshifted to 1st and crashed, then went out to try again and done the same thing on the out lap!

Then I messed the start, I wasnt looking and hadnt seen the lights come up, I seen just in time but bogged down, then had to back off to avoid the cars infont so SBG got past.

I was driving a bit carefull so Dan was all over me, and SBG was pulling away. Dan tried for a pass into the first tight right corner, I left a bit of room but the sound of locked brakes ment trouble and we both hit the wall, no harm done.

I managed to find some pace and re caught SBG, who was hitting the odd wall  ;) I managed to get along side into a real tight corner (not really a passing place) and SBG turned in, whoops sorry, but I still took it as a chance to drive past.  ;D

Iam probally the only one but I do like this track, but it is a little too tight for close racing.

Get better soon Ruskus.

Thanks all,

Andy.

Cheers for that Don. Had much fun :).

Nice pass on Andy early doors and I was off and up to second. Then hits one barrier and the car goes cack. Ruddy BMW is a sensitive flower especially compared to Dans Seat which was bouncing off the walls with na bother ;) Perhaps the Alfa has better build quality?  ;D

Fair enough, you bullied your way past Andy but how else can you overtake there? Good stuff and thx Andy/Dan.

Get yourself looked at and back to full health soon JR.

It's a bit better now. Took 2 painkillers and was able to do a R2P event.
Problems started 3 weeks ago and eventhough people keep saying I need to go see a doctor, I don't :). Maybe because I studied medicine myself I think too easy about stuff :P.

Depending on the type of stone, yes you do :o Not a pleasant experience!

I hope it doesn't come to that for Rusky, but with those symptoms, I'd be getting myself checked out right away. I left it for a few days myself, and on the 3rd day, I couldn't move because of the pain, I could only lie down on the floor.

Tingdingding, we have a winner, and it's Edamspeed for guessing correctly ;D.

3 weeks ago I started peeing blood, which I found rather odd :P, but I just left it there ;D, untill I got those extreme pains, especially in the hanging area :P (big pain I can tell ya ;)).
My father (who is GP) immediatly said, yeah, kidney stones, classic example. And my own GP confirmed that. So now I need to come back tuesday and be carefull not to shoot a hole in the toilet when I'm letting that marble out ;D.

Atleast I have an excuse now if I suck on track  ;D

Didn't realise you were that close!!

Guess who was holding the cup....?:P

Lol, yeah, problem is, drinking makes it worst when you feel the pain ;D. If you feel the pain it means it's blokked, so if you add more liquids, it will just get worst and worst untill I'm on the ground :P.
I made that mistake when I felt the pain, by drinking, hoping it was something else lol.

P.S I prefer mixed drinks :)
