I just did a few practice laps in the brab BT11 BRM and 1.10.83 was my best so far. Reckon I could knock another second or 2 off with some practice!  ;D

Ah thanks, I only tried the '67 cars briefly, and I was in a Lotus (no idea which version :D). No idea how the '66's behave in comparison to the '67.

66s are slower. Lotus 49 will do l.03s in alien hands I think? (long time since I've driven one, so it's probably 02s by now).

Lol, I suck :D in the same car with the default (pants) setup I did 1:16 :P. But that was with a lap or 5 done. I really need to be able to use the '67 setups for the '66 cars :D.

EDIT: What chassis do I have to pick, advanced, standard or basic?

And looking at that list, which one is the fastest, top car or bottom car?

EDIT2: Guess standard is the right one, as the trainers feel poo :P

If you're talking about car type, then always use grand prix.
Good time with a 67 Lotus at the Glen is anything in the 1.05 range. You should also use other than default setups. If you want twitchy ones, look for Andreas Wilkes setups.

Don't know what server you were trying to connect to but I've set up the server (details as per race announcement - including usual practice password) on a continuous loop.  It appears in the IGOR race list as Server_66_Dedicated and comment field is UKGPL Test.

This should give everyone the chance to test their connections before Sunday.  I'll reset the server to a single race (not continuous loop) just before the race is due to start on Sunday (so that the race replay is saved - I'm not saving the replays on the continuous loop).

Remember the choice of chassis is down to the driver and the published bands are a guideline.  Drivers can take a slower chassis than their rank dictates but please don't take a faster one.

If you want to try a 67 race, Chris Bull has another server running on VROC.  It is called D.Server and no password is necessary.  If you want to join this server you'll need WinVROC v 2.1 (get it here  http://www.vroc.net/legacy.html)

I usually post the news page in another club, so here goes:

It just so happens I won this one  ;D.

I got by Ken right after the esses on lap 1. Than had a race long fight with Lorenzo, with Ken lurking just behind. But my superior speed on the straights saved me, as Lorenzo never could draft me. Great fun.
On the technical side, I had no problems, and the connection was rock solid.

Great race tonight as Syd described. When he passed early on I intended to just follow and try and think of a last lap plan. However Lorenzo started hassling me and when I made a slight error he was through, along with Paul Skingley if I remember. It was a then a 16 wheeler train for a few laps before Paul slipped off at The Loop. It was then just the 12 wheels till the end. I tried a couple of moves on Lorenzo on the last lap but couldn't make anything stick. All three of us within a second at the flag though!

In qually I followed Syd round to set a new 246 WR. It wont count of course but I've uploaded tonight and taken a screenshot. :)

I've ftp'ed the pages to my PC and I'm going to try and update them.  I'm nowhere near as switched on to PHP as you are Giz, so it might take me a while (at least my first attempt will :))

So how did the handicapping work out.

I know that I was in the race, just but I have no idea how it panned out.  My current pc problems with 66mod meant that I struggled to set a time in qually, then I got chucked out (twice) and just managed to get back in when you lot were on the grid.

That looked crowded by the way.  Bully needs to put the loose grids on his server.

I joined from the pits with my sound card threatening to lock up any minute and did about five laps before it cleared.

Then I had a race but the server seemed to have me about five laps down. ???

To cap it all the sound card had the last laugh and chucked me out again before I could get back to the pits.

Hence the question.  How did it go?

Clive

You seem to be having a hard time atm Clive! Race was fun as briefly described above. Handicapping in our lead group seemed about right but neither me or Lorenzo could get really contemplate passing Syd as he had a fair old top speed advantage. As you have done in the past maybe the handicapping should be done using GPLRank with Nurby removed. Those of us who've put the time in at the Green Hell are at a slight disadvantage against equally skilled drivers who can't remember more than 5 corners!!! :)

I think the handicapping was spot on - as per Ken's comment, I based it on my Nurby-less rank, and took the Brabham BT11 (6 gears and 2 litres!).

Got lucky at the start as the right-hand side had what looked like a bouncing Ferrari to contend with, then set about chasing the fast chaps. John Roberts passed me early on, but much to my surprise I kept him in sight (although the modified drafting effects probably helped me here).

His engine went pop near the end, and I would've finished very well, but got over exited when mistook Brendan's heavy (with fuel) Ferrari to be Paul's and went grass cutting on the penultimate lap. Great fun!

My rank is Nurbneutral so I picked a car in the next group up.

Trouble is that the H16 engine is the one my sound card really isn't keen on.

Well I thought I would go with the McLaren, I had driven it a few times and had a half decent setup for it.

Got a new pb for the Mclaren in Qually but that still only put me 10th. Think I started the grid 11th in the end.

Got off to a poor start, nearly stalled the thing lol! I had been practicing the getaways aswell! When we came to t4 on lap1 there was some sort of incident ahead and a few people got caught up in that. I thought I had made it through but I just got clipped and that sent me flying.

Ahem after a quick Shift-R I was on the way again. I made few place and got up to 9th i think at some point. Then my usual lack of concentration, even in int short races, sent me off the track a few times. Some good racing though, there were 4 of us Amir and D.How  and someone else

The server seemed ok for most people except Clive, do you have these issues on any 66mod servers Clive?

I will look into the loose grid thing aswell. VROC did all that in the past not sure if there is anything like that in iGOR. Otherwise I'll just have to get round to editing all the track.ini's.   ::)

Cu all soon,

Bully.

Ps Phil i'll get the replay sorted by tomorrow, have to go out for the evening now.....

Hi Chris,

I think that all my problems are my own.

Paul Jackson does a handsome range of 1x1 staggered grids.  That's what I use.

Results imported. Some drivers have been linked to their forums IDs already, but most are still linked to historic data. Don't worry about that.

The only one I couldn't identify at all was "Bruce Sikes". ???
