Please note this is using an slightly updated version of the track with adjusted tyre temperature multipliers so make sure if you've installed v2.9.0.0 before that you uninstall it first and then install the new version (v2.9.0.1).

Please also note there is some strange shadow bug around 130R. You can either put up with it being there or if you turn your shadow settings down to medium then you won't see the problem.

Does anyone know where i can find a TT replay of Suzuka in a Ferrari 550 with Alien skill level? I want to use it as a guide to setup my gear ratios and find my lines (I am no Alien but I find the Alien replays the best guides ;D ). I have tried the most popular sites that I can think of and the replays available in the on-line replays in game I could not get to work.

Any help is most appreciated, thanks.

It's no use finding TT laps from anywhere other than this place. As the F550 is ballasted and has less power than the normal F550. Also this Suzuka has a different GDB file which changes grip level.

Nuts!

Good point Ruskus, thanks for the info.

As there is only one class of car, does this mean that I should compromise my race line more when being blue flagged than I would in the LE or UE races?

Post by: psuedo on March 31, 2008, 06:54:10 PM +0100
No. Don't compromise your line. It is up to the lapping car to go round you, not for you to move out of its way. However, as you say, with the cars being of comparable speed then lifting off the throttle a little to help the other car pass cleanly is by far the best way to let them through.

Was the test race with the Elises done with 2.9.0.0? While I joined then np, I get booted now as a posible cheat - no matter which car I take.  :(

The Elise race used the old version, you will need to download the 2.9.0.1 version, it has an improved GDB file. Very good edit Simon, new GDB is like default tracks  :thumbup1:

Just to let you know, I've moved the start time 2 minutes earlier so we can fit in a warmup session for those much needed toilet breaks before the long race.

Really enjoyed the Lotus test run, but...I dunno.

Track seems even more narrow then any other version I've played, impossible to pass with any safety with these lightning quick cars, or so it appears to me. Grip is godly too, even when both rears go over 10 wear I can keep the pedal floored from T6R all the way through the loong (double?) lefthander, up until braking for T8/9R, if I get it right. Heh, I've had to edit this a few times, seems I can't count. Anyway, I mean the long doubleapex lefthander prior to the 2 sharper righthanders before going under the bridge. Don't think any other game has made that possible with the top tier equipment. In the ol' Motogp on psx/xbox (even though I officially hate consoles, I've still played it  :D)  you'd get a nice ride through the air if you tried keeping the throttle pinned through there.

Once wear goes much above 12, track becomes very dangerous for me. I can almost guarantee I won't make this race without visiting the kitty litter, most probably I will do it many times. I regret I didn't have/take more time to practice during the week. This will be hairy.

So, once again, UKGTR have provided me with quite the challenge  :). I sure hope I don't mess up.

Drat. Was having a really good opening stint, apart from a wierd one at the final chicane where I seemed slow compared to the cars in front, broke at the normal place just before the big sign, and ran smack into the back of the car in front. Had to let a gaggle back past but then they started going off and worked my way up into 3rd, behind JR and Shark.

Stop went perfectly and after everyone else had taken their first stop I was back in 3rd and holding a 6 second gap over Gazza behind.

Took my eyes off the road for the tiniest fraction of a second into 130R and instead of getting dragged into the gravel like everyone else had I went straight into the wall, where the engine burst into flames. End of race. Really, really annoyed with both myself for making the mistake, and fate for punishing me so harshly. >:(

I'm fed up with this track. After all the problems in the Elise race of not being able to get service I was dreading my pitstop. This time that went well but 5 or 6 laps later I got it sideways in to the first of the Spoon curves. No problem I thought, there is that huge area of concrete/tarmac, I'll cruise slowly across that so I don't get a track cut warning. But no. Appears that the surface there has some sort of step pattern to it. So the nose of the car caught one and flips me end for end and I'm on my roof race over. So much for realistic physics (game), or track surface (3rd party addon)

Track deleted, not racing here again. It wins  >:( :(

After my second pitstop I was in 5th when my connection went bad for some reason and I got disconnected. Not pleased at all.

You were warping a bit before that RM so it wasn't totally unexpected.

Yeah it was a bit scarey behind you Reign Man as your car was quite laggy.

Grid position was my downfall. I got stuck behind slower cars in the first stint and by the time I got past them by pitting one lap early (by mistake) I was already down 22 seconds on Jeff. Made no impact in the second stint after having a couple of minor trips to the gravel, but come the third stint and I was flying. Managed to get the gap down from 23 seconds to 5 seconds, but alas it wasn't quite enough and I only had enough fuel for less than a lap anyway so glad Jeff crossed the line just after the time expired otherwise it would have been a splash and dash for me.

Loved the circuit to drive. It suited the Lambo perfectly, but it's impossible to overtake, especially when people drive in the middle of the road to prevent you going by you simple have to sit there when you're not given enough tarmac to get by. :P

Thanks to all the guys that turned up. I shall see what else I can do to increase the turnout for next time.

Well done to Jeff on the win in what must have been a horrible car for Suzuka and TT for his third in that most horrid coloured of Listers. Whoever thought blue with yellow wheels was a good idea needs their head checking.

Right, I was scared the stat car's gonna appear before me. Wanted to overtake quickly but I couldn't.  ;D  Real hard first stint, position changes were mostly due to making mistakes. Apart from Rusky I think we all made at least one.  ::)   Was pleased with the car performance (apart from being too slow at acceleration), especially with fuel usage. I had 100/100/55 l stints, though I could easily take only 45 at the last stop. But it would not gain me anything, except maybe a bit bigger gap to 4th.  :)  Hard circuit, narrow. I'm not sure the real one is so very narrow.  ???

Unlucky RM....good run till then too...for a newbie at the track  8)

That was very hard.

I haven't managed a lot of praccy for this one...(and I need loads) so I was learning as I went along.

First stint went ok...held my own-ish without too many errors.
Had a few lapses of concentration in the second stint, but fortunately never in a dangerous area
And couldnt get any more than 40 deg into my front tyres in the last stint...didnt notice the temp had dropped from 27 deg at the begining to 12 deg in third stint, so came back out with med/med.....sort of just gave up trying to get anywhere and just held on to the end.

Grats everyone for finishing

Well done Gazza49er and [email protected] race lads

Grats to winner and podiums.....

See ya for the next one.

Bloomin' heck. I had to do 100/100/100 again in the Lambo. It really is cutting it close to do 2 hours and 10. You have to stop as late as possible in both pit stops to get to the end without the need for a third stop.

I've been playing Suzuka a lot all week on GT5 Prologue and it feels a bit wider in that but not much so I guess it really is a reasonably narrow circuit. The GT5 one is better than the GTR2 one, but then the GTR2 one is made by amatuers and the GT5 one is made by professionals with a lot of budget to make it good.

Adam was too busy to make me a proper skin, but I surely agree - the color combo is dreadful.  :D
I made a mistake when Sharky boy chased me purely cause the track is so narrow I didn't want to be seen as blocking. So I was watching back for his move and forgot to brake.  ::)  After that I chose not to look back at all.  :D

Grats to Rusky and Shark, but also to all who made it to the end.  8)  Surely more people would help contribute to make this events even better.

I really enjoyed that race, I qualified well and had many good battles. It was very hard for me but I got it to the end  :)

I did make a few mistakes including a 100/100/100/65 pit strategy in my setup when it should have been 100/100/65. I made the last stop and got 100L of fuel and realised my mistake. I had set 3 stops when i knew it was 2 ??? My setup has been like this since Wednesday and I still did not notice.

especially when people drive in the middle of the road to prevent you going by you simple have to sit there when you're not given enough tarmac to get by. :P

I think I may have done that a bit, sorry mate, not intentional blocking by me. I had a low wing and was all over the track and when we were all bunched up it got a bit much for my poor little brain. There was one moment at the chicane after 130R, i was recovering from a mistake and chose the right hand side of the track. The first few went passed ok but then others were closer than i thought and i ended up blocking the line into the chicane. I think there were no taps but if i had been a bit more on the ball i would have chosen the left side. Sorry for the newbie moves, any advice that anyone has for me in relation to todays race will be considered constructive criticism :)

Thanks for a fun and well organised race, until next time

Well i enjoyed my 1st race with you guys and after a bit of practice midweek and making my own setup from scratch which i am normally terrible at i was hoping to be at least be able to compete at some kind of level.
PB offline was a 1:53:842 so when i got the 1:54:369 in quala i knew i really could not improve on 7th as TT in the other lister put in a lap that was close to my overall Pb.
Race started really well not had that much fun for a good while as it was really nip and tuck for the first several laps but i did nearly end up TT`s ass at the final chicane so had to swerve to avoid a noobs error but got on with it caught the little pack back up.
All in all tho a good race but with just one to many errors in the end and the biggest one being my complete cock up off having to make a 3rd and very long pit stop  :-[

Ah, having seen the replay I now know what happened - Hal dipped a wheel off coming out of 130R and in struggling to regain control he slowed RM and Gazza behind down. I was far enough back that I hadn't seen what was going on and just broke at the normal place, avoiding RM but running into the back of Gazza. I knew something kooky must've happened.

If I was to write an essay about this race, I'd use the title: "The irresistible siren call of the gravel traps".

Couldn't get fronts up to temp, so the car was understeering a bit more then in offline praccy. That long double lefthander I talked about earlier, that I said I could keep the throttle pinned throughout.....well, in race I ended up in the wall three times there.

Pit stop was horrible, but it didn't matter at that point anymore. Was tailing H@L at one point, looking forward to a pressure duel, but, it was over very soon when I did one of my visits to the wall at aforementioned place.

linescom was a bit unpredictable during the warm up lap, and I spun swerving away from him. You then slowed down and let the field through taking last place behind me. I appreciate the gesture, I do, but it's really not neccessary. I should just have had a bigger gap at that point of the track.

More practice is what I should have had, maybe I'd have stayed on the track more then.

I have had a look at the replay and i dont know what i was taliking about in my last post with the 130R moment.

After the mistake i made at 130R early on I held the right hand line into the following chicane so that i would not be blocking the braking zone but the cars behind all took the right side to defend their line so i ended up preventing anyone from getting past. That was not my intention, Gazza, RM and Dave should have all gone passed as i was recovering from a mistake. If I had kept to left it would have been ok. Sorry guys, this caused a bit of a mess.

Nice battels with Simon, Gazza, TT and RM : ) I did a nice move on Gazza at 130R, excellent job making sure there was room Gazza. RM later got me at 130R after i chickened out entering 130R side by side with him : )

Slowly but surely i am improving my race craft.

That's just a racing incident - I was mortified that I might have simply missed my braking point and simply run into the pack, it was a big relief to see that there was a proper cause. :D
