This must be a short track if 37 laps of it in the Abarth is 40 mins. :o

1.3 miles of sheer fun.

Great track and my local too.

I might try and dig my copy of legends out and install it for this one.

I'm moving house next week, taking up a new job too and that should interfere less with my racing!

Hopefully it should not take too long to get a broadband connection established.

The Elite isn't as "overpowered" as the Elan is. It's actually quite slow and clunky and feels like it's made of plastic.

It seems it's just the lightweight RWD option in this selection.

Always enjoy the Elite so this ones a no brainer for me. Do hope I'm backing the winning/fastest horse this week. Some much needed championship points with as much fun as last week would be perfect  :)

I liked the Abarth at the other track that had this combo, so I'm tempted to take the washing machine out for a spin.

I had a great race in an Abarth some time ago, at Spa of all places.
The car is so tiny, you can literally drive on top of the curbs, with the whole car at once ;D

Still, Elite isn't bad either. Nor is the Jag, besides being the heavy lump in this matchup.  Hmm.

Did some 20 or so laps last night and got 18 or so cut warnings. Gonna have to drive safe tonight.

Just dipped into 03's in the Elite and gotta say its great fun :). I guess the Abarth is gonna be tough to beat.

Yeah they have some bizzare cut track warning markers (like into T1 if you drive over the rumble pad when it changes from Red/Blue to completley white) and then some blatantly obvious track cuts (uphill chicane) go un-noticed.

Watch the touring cars at Knockhill, they take HUGE amounts of grass.

I would have expected the Elite to be able to match the Abarth, we shall see tonight.   ;D

Taking very conservative lines, so not close to cut warnings, getting 1:04 dead.  Roll on tonight.

Looks like the Elite for me...it's about the only one I haven't had a go in yet.

First praccy 1:04:xxx....but with full tank and no cut warnings

I was planning to join for this one but having skin related problems.

I've installed the game, patch and it works fine.

I install the track and and knockhill and they work too.

However the skin pack is causing trouble. Firstly mini number 181 appears to be a cobra.

It's a new game and I have no credits to buy any of the cars, so I need to raise money.

When the skin pack is installed the game crashes when trying to race mini cup for money, remove and it's fine.

I've not got the option of any the cars skinned for team shark.

Is there anyway I can realise one of the cars to race without winning the money?

Sounds like an old skin pack. Sure you've downloaded the latest. If you have then try deleting the mini with the driver called Will16v. There was rumored to be problems with that. For unlimited cash and all cars go to nogrip and download the fix. Or it's here somewhere on this site if someone can post the link, but probably quicker to go to new grip
I'll go to nogrip and get the link

Money cheat here Brian https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4313.msg72105;topicseen#msg72105

"For the money cheat.

Create a txt file and name it: TG2001.DYN . So it's not a txt file after you're done . No need for a new profile "

There is a problem with a mini in new pack I believe(?) but don't worry it won't be used tonight and you'll have no need for single player after the cheat ;)

(As usual too damn slow  ::))

Apologies to the second of the 2 Abarths I ran around the outside of the approach to the chicane and unfortunately collected you on the second apex.  I tried to give both of you the line through the chicane, so as not to interfere with the race, but failed.  Once more apologies.

What a rubbish race.

Qualification was a disaster, as some exited the pits, messed up T2, and still decided to stay infront of me while I was in my hotlap  :-X.

And during the race I've experienced it all. Getting held up by backmarkers corner after corner, getting punted at the rear, bad rejoins and spinners right infront. Bloody awefull  >:(.
Such a shame my last GTL race had to be like this. And to top it off, the crap c/t detection gave me a s/g while I was still on track, and in the same lap it decided to do it again when I just touched a curb. Great trackchoice, beats me how it got through testing  ???.

Dont forget to put the reports in JR.

From my view some of the driving standards have slipped backwards again recently so it's time to start implimenting the penalty system a little more frequently and severly.

DQed from the Drunk Field Marshalls

Sorry to ruskus and bara on the last turn, you guys caught up to me at the wrong time, and i couldn't move out of the way till the home straight.

Begging of the race was fun, wild, and stressfull.
People spinning, scraping paint, swirving everywhere, was alot of fun to drive through. My gas pedal is broken so my throttle only goes to about 88%-93% when totally on the ground - So I was losing it heavily on the two long straights :( I was catching up to others in the twisties real fast - but eventually I Tokyo Drifted in front of Jonzo handing him the spot, and my fight was over after that as I got absolute insane cut track penalties (For sliding off track...)

Was hoping for a good 10thish finish at the start, but I'll have to settle for whatever the DQ gets me.

Sad to see you go Ruskus :(

Congrats Baracus, amazing pace.  ;)
Well done for second place Steve.  :)
Some nice scrapps out there, i have to thanks to the Abarth and Elite drivers, for them
clean and fair fight with the heavy MKII.  8)
For a while we were away from good fights Madd, but tonight it return  8) very clean driving
of you and very fun. What happened to you? I barely could see in my mirror you spun.
Excellent track/car choice again. THANK YOU  ;D

Cheers

My first GTL race in a long long time so can't grumble with 5th.

The pit exit was causing lots of trouble. It was hard to see what was coming and too often it ended in cars getting in the way of each other.

The race went well enough for me. One big spin but no damage. I was watching the car ahead get sideways and was waiting for the spin, but somehow he never, but I did!

Had a couple of scary moments with backmarkers, one who just missed me after overshooting the hairpin.

It was pretty good fun and I did not get a single cut warning!

Grats to Baracus on another fine performance.

I should never have joined this race - no practice, no set up to start with.
Got a stop and go for jumping the start, then realised i hadn't filled up with fuel.
Pitted in and the whole field lapped me 2 or 3 times.
i then preceded to chase around the filed trying to catch up, but only managed to knock Mike Hammer causing him to lose grip and spin - sorry Mike - totally my fault and sorry for ruining your race.
Then my sister who has just passed her driving test called over to say she had just driven to our house 'all by herself' - causing me to hit the s/f armco head on. Race over.
I like the car and track combo though, but like others have said, some weird cut track warnings at various points around the circuit.

Got myself a fine race.. had a hard time with all the traffic (all the cars looked the same  ???) but if I go in anybody's way please report (also noticed some 'wild' driving..)

Such a shame my last GTL race had to be like this.

too bad.. hope you can make an odd race in the future so we can witness you're drifting techniques...

That may have been me Brian!  :P

I love the track, even with iffy cut  track warnings sometimes, and the racing is usually pretty close and BTCC ish (you'll know what I mean!) but always enjoyable, A PB and 4th after not much racing of late (blame GTA 4  ;) ) was a good result for me.

I was looking forward to a race long scrap with my old sparring partner Pribeiro and sure enough he didn't disappoint, fabulous close and fair racing (sorry for the  BTCC love nudge in the hairpin btw  ;D )
but I had a tank slapper getting past  a back marker so that ended that, SBG was another fight later on that was very enjoyable, if short lived due to a minor warp and freeze with his car  :( .

Grats to Mark, Steve and Pribeiro.

PS I thought you were going to carry on with GTL Jeff?
A shame if that's it as although we may not have seen eye to eye on some occacions, the racing was always hard and fast!

He was in GTC but not sure why the TC lap is not up there. We'll get our best man onto it. On a personal level, can I just say its a been a pleasure racing (well we shared the same track  ;)) you JR. Not a great way to end for sure but I'm sure the good has far outweighed the bad. Good luck to you.

I too was baulked four times by people on their outlap which just isn't good enough. We really must show more concern for others in quali. Its only a small thing, a common courtesy, and we don't really want to have to act in an "official" capacity so please show more consideration for others

Despite that, I really enjoyed the race :) Great fun with Pseudo, Geoffers and a few others to start with. Then good fight began with Madd, he finally got alongside on main straight and I was thinking of my next move when puter froze. Thought "Gawd damn it" and was just about to hit restart when it suddenly fired up again with me still on main straight ??? Hope no one got caught up in that. Was getting strange things happening with cars around me so had to let some go past but just relieved to finish.

Congrats to Bara, podium and PR who got the most outta the Morse mobile.

Manic race for the most part. Really close and good fun between JR and I until we got baulked a few times - shame you also got the C/T's otherwise I assume you would have carried on and that would have been interesting!

After that I was still trying to put in fast laps to keep my concentration up. Got a couple of warning on the last few laps where I wasn't taking T1 right but other than that I didn't find it over-sensitve tbh

Good luck with your flight studies Jeff - keep us posted as to how its going on. If you have a spare weekend I can come and visit you coz Oxford is only about an hour away from Salisbury ;)

We can go watch some motor racing or do some karting!! See how good you REALLY are ;p

I'm usually quite competitive with karting (worked at an internation track for 6 years :) ), but I'm carrying my very own ballast  ::) (90kg).

We couldn't get a best man so I'll have to do.

Baracus holds the TC-65 track record in a GTA, set in a previous race. All track records for the sim are shown before the event, but only those set during the event are shown once the results are in.

Ouch. What a terrible return to GTL after a long brake. Seems the Abarth was too much for me to handle.  :(

That chicane got me twice or three times. Was too late in rebalancing/turning the car to the right again and slammed into the wall there. No cut warnings for that, at least. But it is silly it gives you a cut track when you mess it up just a little, go wide and onto the gravel/grass, which is guaranteed to be slower then a proper line. I'm pretty sure at one point I was sliding, fishtailing out of it, had both my front wheels on the tarmac, but rear wheels on the curbing, perhaps the edge of it, and still a cut track warning.

So I got a Stop/Go. Unfortunately I came out just ahead of a group of cars. Too late I realized I had no hope of reaching T1 before them, so I tried giving the left side to those guys, but I guess I was too slow, as MJ went wide and out of T1. Not long after I had a ridiculous spin right in front of people, so I pressed esc in hopes of avoiding a collision. Don't know if it worked. Very sorry to those involved. Quit in shame.

At least I didn't run Psuedo off track. Phew.

Knockhill is a brilliant track for GTL racing. Thats several times ive raced there having had some good races with the GBGTL crowd and it always delivers a corker.  8)
The cut warnings are a bit daft at some places (like T1), i managed to pick up two warnings last night and both from avoiding cars that had either pulled out in front of me at the pit exit or lost control in front of me  ::)  Perhaps one of our track gurus could edit it slightly ?
There were some selfish pit exits by some last night, diving out in front of cars on a flyer. I had to abort several qually laps from people doing that  :( Its not hard, you just put labels on, flick to reverse view and then you know its clear as you head down pit exit ! So no excuse really.
Race of two halves for me. Qualied a lowly 14th from lack of praccy and using the elite for only 2nd time ever. But the car felt great on this track, i really enjoy driving it, especially with the soundpack installed  8)
For first 15 minutes i was stuck in loads of traffic and losing a lot of time behind cars fighting it out, side by side and enjoying some good scraps myself. Saw some of the usual clumsy handling at some corners but nothing too outrageous, and gradually picked my way through the aggro to find some clear track.
Thats when the 2nd half of my race came into its own and i was able to close on guys ahead at several seconds a lap and started enjoying myself as i caught and passed a few cars to get onto the heels of SBG and the front pack. I was taking time out of his lead in the dying minutes of the race and closed an 11 sec lead down to about 4-5 but then the race finished.
Great fun, really enjoyed it and the cars seemed evenly matched.
Congrats to the podium guys and unlucky to JR, who looked like him and Baracus were having a great side by side race-long battle.

ah, i think i know what that was. After the race i realised i had left my flipping u-torrent downloader open  :-[  A big mistake, so sorry for that. Im amazed i didnt disco with that thing open. ???
I did notice other cars getting laggy at the final corner and also around turn 2/3 cars would disapear, then re-appear 50m further down the road  :o
But it only happened a few times during the race.

Sorry this is your last race Jeff, didn't realise that.   :(  I've had some great scraps attempting vainly to get past your fishtailing V8 near race end, never managed it.  Always enjoyable though.  Hope you pop in sometimes so I can try and fail again.   ;)

Good result for me, definitely a triumph of playing the percentages over raw pace.  My race pace was at least much better in comparison to others than my qually pace. Had one cut warning early on when I entered T1 badly, but other than that I took an extremely cautious approach that paid off, no errors at all, no other warnings.  Managed to sneak through past PR, Madd and then Mike when they ran wide at the chicane in the first couple of laps, and then just ran safely and consistently in 3rd until Jeff's bad luck and a lucky 2nd for me.

Great track, the Abarth was quite tricky here, although quick.  Had to get lined up for the chicane 30-40 yards before the kerb, any last minute correction seemed to send the back end swinging round.

My experience of the driving was very good last night, everyone was pretty considerate when I came round to lap, no issues there.  So thanks for that.

Congrats to Baracus for the win and respect to PR for lugging that Sofa round so quickly.   ;D

Quite enjoyed that race even though I'm not a great fan of the GTL Knockhill. Had some good battles during the race with many different people but also managed to get 2 S/Gs & only just avoided getting lapped by the flying Baracus for the 3rd time!

Apologies to Wiltshire Tony, I nudged you into a spin at the chicane late in the race. Misjudged the speed of the Mk2  >:( through there.

Congrats to the podium, cya all next time.

Yeah I know. It's kinda the done thing to wait for the victim to recover and to let them take the position back. Nuff said. :-X

Despite the fact we have had no incident reports, some of the posts here and our own experiences led us to quickly examine driving standards during this race. I am glad to report that no serious crimes were discovered  :) however we would like to make a general point.

There have been a few too many offs resulting from over driving through the whole field in this and other races throughout the season. Whether you have had time to put in lots of practice, or join with none, we should always drive within our capabilities. Its foolish and dangerous for others not to.

Also should mention that quali etiquette could be better. Please, please let others through on your outlap.

Well thats it, I did say standards are generally good :) Lets all work hard to keep it that way.
