Mike, you have a Lotus available and in such a power track you should not overlook this possibility.

But take whatever suits you better, I'm not a Lotus fan either...

I'll give it a try anyway :) I'll go with whichever is more comfortable and reliable.

Well, reliable it isn't, that's for sure but you don't have to push it as much as you would push Ferrari but you would still be quicker so that's a point to consider.

Well, considering it's just a 2 second pitstop I'm going with Ferrari.

Hmm, that wasn't much fun :( Really wish I'd taken the Brabham or Cooper now - the Honda's just a big wallowing mess in those fast corners :D

The start didn't go terribly smoothly. I think it was John who suddenly got a large dose of rear end action when the wheels suddenly spun up. After that I kept going and was following Mike until I passed him into Masta, then hit you know what exiting Masta. Just curious to know if there was any reason the server was set to intermediate damage instead of Pro? When the occupants of the  famous house had taken my right 2 wheels as souvenirs I retried to thing, only to see a Ferrari reset in front of me. That'll teach me to always shift+r in vein hope in the future! :D

Not much to tell on my end either. I had less than satisfying quali and didn't manage to put together a good lap but I got off line faster than Hristo who then followed me closely to Malmedy where he got the better exit and shot past on the straight.

I kept up with him and next lap he got Malmedy slightly wrong so I managed to tow my self and pass him just before Masta. Having been ahead and on the inside, I got Masta utterly wrong and made a pinball bounce from the bankings. Had I known that Hristo gentlemanly lifted to allow us both through Masta, I'd have been able to take better line and not have such an early exit. Pity, it could have been fun.

I hit Shift R for the sake of it and found my self on track - contemplated continuing but then decided not to interfere possibly with anyone's race knowing it should have been Pro.

Its been a Soggy wipeout considering that Lorenzo exited jost as fast as I did. Boss won't be happy  :cursing:

Hmm

Took the Lotus, as I was comfortable with it, but wasn't prepared for how fast everyone else was.  I've never been massively quick at Spa, and I qualified last 6 seconds off Hristo's Honda  :o

And the race went the same way, slower than everyone, moved up the field only when someone dropped out and generally felt like a mobile chicane :(  Somehow I lucked into 3rd place.

Sorry if I got in anyone's way :(

Congrats to John on his first UKGPL race win ;D

After my first ever engine blow up in a Fez during quali I decided that I would thrash the pit crew later for shoddy workmanship but drive a little more conservatively in the race.
At the start I got involved in the melee before Eau Rouge and eventually got going behind Mike's lotus, he was taking it very steady but so was my graphic card!!
As soon as I got close, the frame rate dropped to dangerous levels and it was more like a slide show than a moving picture. I was hoping that if i managed to pass him it would smooth out again ( I'm not implying it was in any way Mike's fault, it is definitely my graphics card).
Instead I found myself lurching in a series of still frames towards the dreaded earth banks, and was fortunate to return to the tarmac in one piece, but some 20 secs behind.
Set off after Mike with a now steady picture, and settled down to reel him in lap by lap. I think there was an epidemic of bird flu proportions as cars seemed to be dropping like flies in front, I even had Hristo in my sights for a while.
I passed him when he did the Malmedy Macarena and closed right up to mike with some 5 laps left to go and a sniff of 4th spot. then the frame rate dropped again just as we went through Eau Rouge ( a really good place to lose visuals!!) I thought I was going to rear end Mike and tried to aim where I hoped he wasn't. I missed Mike but clipped the inside of the exit and spun.
Well that really p*****d me off, I can tell you!!! The red mist descended and i decided that as I was running last I might as well see how fast i really could go....so I pushed the needle ever closer to the red line in each gear for the next few laps. Well swipe me with a kipper, after a race of 3:20ish laps I pull out a 3:17'5 on a far from perfect lap. Something I perhaps should have done from the start??

Last lap going down to Stavelot and there is a white flag and Syd's Fez crawling along on the inside ???? so I ended up 4th anyway and with the 25 bonus points for fastest race lap...................
Grats to John Napo and Mike  for sticking in there and taking the podium...tough luck Syd :O(. I've been there and done that last lap no fuel scenario, it is just soooo frustrating.
Evil.

I struggled to get the car to work, 2nd place is better than expected.

I feel really gutted. I was in a comfortable 2nd place, and then ran out of fuel half-way through the last lap. Funny how putting in 3 laps of fuel gets you through 3 laps, but putting in for 16 laps get you through less then 15. A lesson for next time.

Yes - I started it with the wrong damage model :(. Is everyone happy to let the results stand, or do you want to re-run the race?

As long as no one benefited from a shift R, I'm ok with letting the results stand...

OK, if I check for shift-R's and retire anyone at that point (if necessary), would everyone be happy to let it stand?

EDIT: I'm OK either way.

I have already slapped myself with a wet trout for my contribution to Hristo's exit :(  Sorry H, I screwed up that approach completely.

After I ran out of fuel, and stopped, I pressed shift+r instead of esc+enter out of habit. I was surprised when the car actually reset. But I did let everyone pass, so didn't gain anything by doing the last half of the last lap and finishing.

So far we have 5 voting for yes/don't care. I need a 6th vote to make it a majority for keeping the results as they stand (and retiring folk at the point of shift-r if they continued).....and congrats to John too :)

but there was only 9 drivers in the race so you have a majority ... or is my maths that bad ?

If my vote swings it, that suits me!!!  Never thought I would finish as high as I did especially at Spa, so I am more than happy to let the result stand.
Only down side is I may have forced myself into a slower car for the next race...ah well...the price of success I guess.

Sorry - you're correct. Napo didn't start, so we have a majority. The race will stand, pending moderation. Anyone continuing will be retired at the point of the first shift-r. The results have been loaded - please submit your incident reports ASAP.

I'm ok with keeping the results. I had a good qualifying, with the exception of being blocked on one of my fast laps by someone coming out of the pits at Eau Rouge. As Kruger said we had some battle early on, but then after another lap or two, my engine expired. I was really saving it and not reving too high and looking after oil temperature. Well, I guess sometimes it's just random... I found out that I could shift-r and made a stop/go for that ,even though we're supposed to run Pro. Pushed hard after that until I closed up on Mike. Dunno if he was out of control or not, but going diagonally accross the track on a braking zone caught me by surprise and I swerved towards the banking to avoid that, but eventually we tangled. I hit the wall, the car was damaged, then I was too disappointed and angry after that and binned it at Malmedy. Was going to be DQ anyway probably, for shift-r. See you next race. Grats JR! :D

Errm, yes, that wasn't where I was wanting to go, the plan was to let you go through there, but the Lotus was having none of it  ::)
