Syd

It says Spa (1947-48) is this a non Papy track and if so can you post a link to where I can download it?

Yeah, it's the regular track, just SRou refers to it that way.

I was just looking at my profile, and this will be my 100th race, including GTL. So how about letting me win  ;D.

Grats Syd - you drove a good race.

Personally, I've had enough of it. The last couple of seasons in Div2 have been alot of fun with plenty of gentlemanly driving. But, whether it is being moaned at for getting in the way of someone's super-hot qualifying lap, or getting nerfed off the track by people who drive as if I have no right to be there, it isn't fun anymore.

Grats Syd, a hundredth race and sealed with a win. ;D Well done to Lorenzo for a good recovery and Chris for third position.

I`ve had another dreadful Spa race which at first looked good but then was unlucky to be colateral victim in the Masta accident on lap 1 and it went downwards from there. It looked as though I went through it but the horizont went awry all of a sudden.
There was an interesting four way battle on lap two with Mike, Lorenzo and Burton, but I messed Malmedy and spun. Didn`t quit just yet and tried to salvage at least some points. Caught up with Mike and we had a nice battle and what looked promising for a race long battle ended abruptly by Mike spinning suddenly in Blanchimont and I had bundles of speed that I didn`t know what to do with. Did a poor evasive manouvre and flipped against the banking. That looked like a good moment to call it a day.

Well that went as well as could be expected ;D.  Started at the back of the grid and took it steady as I was expecting a pile up at L’Eau Rouge which thankfully didn’t happen.  I played safe and kept a safe distance without loosing the chance of a slipstreaming opportunity.  Bernie was in front as we exited Les Combes for the first time, my car advantage showed and I passed Bernie on the inside at Burnenville.  I closed in on Derek through Malmedy, no crashes yet, looking good.  Gained a little more on the approach to Masta and I was getting ready to have a go on the way down to Stavelot when wreckage appeared from nowhere.  Managed to avoid Amir’s Honda but just clipped the nose of Clive’s Lotus and I was sent spinning down the track.  I’d almost come to a fairly save stop when I was torpedoed by Bernie’s 2 wheeled Lotus and I was catapulted over the fence in the field.  I didn’t think there was a way out of there so I had to take a shift R (no fault).  Got going again but with my concentration in tatters I went off at La Carriere and L’Eau Rouge before I settled down and chased after Tim.  Didn’t have to wait long, Tim made a mistake at Malmedy and I was through.  Bernie was my next target and I started to reel him in and he gifted me a place when he crashed out at Les Combes on lap 4.  Burt was my next target and I tried to chase him down to return the complement after our battle in the Clubmans 2 days earlier.  I wasn’t making much impression but then unbelievably Burt made a mistake at Blanchimont and I was through.  With Mike and Clive pulling away ahead I had to try to consolidate my place but I always loose my concentration without a target to aim at.  Sure enough I spin at Les Combes on lap 6 and my big cushion back to Bernie is severely dented.  Concentrate, concentrate I tell myself but I still manage to make another stupid unforced error at Malmedy on lap 8 and I end up straddling the hedgerow.  Need a shift R.  Now Bernie is dangerously close, prib is showing I only have a 5 second advantage.  Pull into the pits at the end of lap 8 for a stop and go.  See Bernie in my mirrors, select neutral and nearly blow the heads off the Brabham.  By now Bernie is whistling through L’Eau Rouge, I calm down select first and head off in pursuit.  Last lap, leader just finishing the race behind me so nothing to loose.  I give it my best shot trying to catch Bernie and get within a couple of car lengths at La Source but I’m too late, Bernie crosses the line ahead.

Despite having one of the fastest cars I needed a tow to stay with the pack and the first lap crash meant I had no chance.  Still having worked my way back up to 6th at one point I managed to throw a place away thanks to my customary lack of concentration :(.

Congrats to Syd on a win and a centenary milestone.  Here’s to the next 100 :).

Well, after the fuel disaster on sunday this one felt good. I thought I had the pole in the bag, but I guess Hristo found somebody to draft right at the end of practice and stole it away. At the start I got off the grid well and was first by the time we reached Eau Rouge. Then right after Masta on lap 1 I saw the green flag, and I'm thinking, aha everyone has crashed in the Big One, and now I have a solid advantage. Sure enough I throw it away at the very next corner, Stavelot, going wide, and barely managing not to crash the car. Hristo and Chris got by. I knew I had good top speed, so I was careful and patient, and overtook Chris on the straight after La Carriere. Then I quickly caught up with Hristo. Closed up a few time, but didn't want to cause an accident, and backed off. In the end I got him at the same place as Chris. For the next lap Hristo was hounding me, closing right up on my tail for every turn with any serious braking. But then he made a mistake somewhere, and I was left alone, with Chris over 10 seconds back in 2nd. Now it was a matter of keeping my concentration up. And I still tried to throw it away. On lap 6, on the entrance to Masta, I tried to cut too much on the left, clipped the hill, which threw me into the railing. Luckily this is 66 cars. With 67 I think I would have lost it and crashed. But here I slammed on the brakes, and somehow slowed the car down without losing control before it hit the house on the exit. After that I took masta very carefully on every remaining lap. There were no more hairy moments for the rest of the race and I won for the first time in a while.
Congrats to Lorenzo and Chris too, for their podium finishes.
Derek, don't give up.
That's what moderation is for, to review races and punish those that don't adhere to gentlemanly driving standards.
But it does seem like a good time to remind everyone that you don't win the race on the first lap. This is now 2 races, and two big accidents on the opening lap. Remember also that any penalty for first lap incidents caries an extra place.

The last couple of seasons in Div2 have been a lot of fun with plenty of gentlemanly driving.
The gentlemen have ambled over to the Clubmans to partake in some very clean but exciting racing.  It's the only place left where you don't need to keep your eyes glued to the mirrors looking for aliens   We need more new starters to warrant running another Div2 next season.

Race was a complete disaster, I just couldn't get the fezza driving in a straight line, tried playing around with setups without any joy, so retired before I spoilt anyone elses race :(

I decided to watch Hristo, Bully & Lorenzo having a great fight, until Hristo and Bully tangled at the end. Good to see a fellow clubmans racer taking the fight to those aliens  8)

Derek , thats just about how I felt last season , and at the start of S15 , it seemed as if every time I got the car out onto the track , someone was waiting to ruin my day .

On one particular race day I had inherited 2nd place from others misdemeaners , only to get punted up the backside again.

There aint nothing worse than having to wait for the whole field to pass through before a  re set is possible .

Makes you think "why bother"  all the effort and practise for nought but keep at it mate,  I'm sure you will get your share of good fortune in the end .

Derek, i don't want to judge our "clash", the only thing i want to say is that i'm sorry about that.In every race i try to drive gentlemanly but sometimes i can do mistakes...
Hope to see you next race!

Lol, grats, Syd, but you should observe better what's happening around you. No, nobody gave me slipstream in qualifying. No, I didn't make a mistake, your rear wheels sent me into the bushes at Stavelot. ;)

Well, then it was as usual a very impressive time and almost a wr. As for the incident I would strongly disagree. Below is a picture from a moment when your car is pushed to the left and off the track. As you can see I'm all the way on the right, where I stayed while getting out of the corner, driving in a very predictable manner. You on the other hand are driving too close to me (as per recommended driver behaviour) and as a result you're sent off by warp. There's no visible contact on my client replay.

It's the server replay that dictates whether it was warp contact or not.  If there is no contact on the server replay then it is warp.

On the exit of the corner it is always the following driver who is vulnerable.  Full explanation here (https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/warp).

guys im bit lost where i can get the replays, i wouldnt mind a replay of Kyalami div1, Kyalami clubmans please. I looked at the replay links but dont see them there.

As for my race all i can remember till i get replay was i somehow made up to 5th on 1st lap kept it there for 3 laps till i had the big guys catching me behind, and i know i was slowing them just keeping my position till some tried to overtake me at the last corner. I then gave up i think cos i was way off.

Don't misunderstand me, Syd, I'm not blaming you for it. It was warp contact. I should've indeed left more room to cope with the lag. Just saying that it was that contact which sent me off. :)

Oh dear!

I really didn’t realise how much mayhem I had caused at Masta on lap one but have just looked at the replay.

I was trying to be so careful as well.  :(  sackcloth and ashes time

Syd was in front and I was second.  I thought that I had Hristo all over my gearbox but it turned out to be Lorenzo.  My game plan was to let Syd tow me away from the nasty McLarens but being extra cautious into Masta I missed my turn-in.  I must have lifted a bit and that brought the heavy end of the L43 into play and it had designs on getting in front.  I tried to control the bounce off the Armco but was thrown across the track to the other side.  Again I tried to hold it straight but again the heavy end had other ideas.

I ended up going back across the track and hitting the fence over there as well.

When I finally came to rest I tried the engine to see if all was still working and then just sat there, with my nose hanging over the track, and hoped all would miss me.  Unfortunately Phil just clipped my nose and sent me back off to the fence, where I was able to make a turn on the grass and rejoin in last spot.

Apologies to all that were involved.

Hi all, I had a great race here. I managed to avoid the flying wreckage coming at me not far after the start! To my surprise I was up to 3rd place :) I stayed in 3rd for a while and even sneaked up into second place as I remember! It wasnt long before I had Hristo behind me in the macca giving it his all! He got past me eventually. Had some great racing there, I was trying to be on my best behaviour! Then on the last lap coming up to Blanchimont I was on the inside and Hristo was on the line. I should have backed off but I didnt and as we approached the apex I knocked Hristo right off. Doh! Really sorry about that!

Well see you all soon :)

Bully.
