God i can see this one being a difficult one. A 30mins practise on wednesday night on '20mins' tanks worth got me down to 1.09.7 and i just see above I've got to the GT3 lap record ::) Long way to go yet then ;)

I already asked to join this race and I'm so much looking forward to that. Now as I already said, my friend Joao (he'd been racing here but took a long break from GTR2) wants to race as well. He can't post by now cause he doesn't have internet so this is just to ask if he can be racing as well for this one, he has already read the rules and downloaded all needed. He'd pick up a (standard) Porsche GT3-RS, thanks :)

How's your buddy Joao gonna race without the net?

As long as he's up to speed with the rules (one pitstop, particularly read about the starting proceedure!) he should be cool to join. If I were you guys I'd join the praccy server tonight or earlier tomorrow to make sure you can get in in your chosen cars and to make sure your connections are up to it.

Oh - and it's required that newbies run into as many Leg-ends as possible! ;D

Yep no problems with his net, just that he doesn't have it at weekends. I have already joined the server and there's no problems, indeed on Tuesday we'll join earlier :)

Hope we have a high quality race in Tuesday - like the season was.  8)

I cant believe how i'm losing time. After some online practise i'm 0.9 slower than offline, but i can be 0.6 down on some people's time upto the 2nd sector but seem to lose nearly a second through the last sector which is just a chicane and a straight!

Goddards (the chicane) is critical to a good lap here. the big dipper in the braking zone makes it difficult to get set up for a quick run through it.

I had a quick go in most cars tonight just out of interest. I was surprised how close they all were. I think I had 0.3sec between all the cars I tried.

Should be a good one.

A climactic championship final showdown between the Legends, TS Juniors and the Kerbies tonight  8)  Should be great.

I noticed a couple of new drivers are attending, dont they have to wait until reserves time to join? Im sure the regular champ contenders would be a bit miffed if they couldnt get in the server.

I wouldnt want or expect anyone to compromise their own race but i hope people will be aware of the big fight going on this evening as Donington can get a little crowded on track

The championship is going down to the wire.    Hopefully Freq and Zacari can attend to help the team challenge.

Don't worry we're aware of it :)

Although I would be very frustrated if I couldn't race after having practiced quite a bit lol

Hope not !  ;D

We have Zacari tied up and gagged in the back of one our team lorries and we gave Freq more of his favoured hallucagenic drugs to take off his edge  ;)

Surely it would be a tad unfair to draft in outside drivers to attempt to nick the championship? Freq hasnt competed in a single round of the GTC sprint.   ???  Otherwise we may as well go off and ask CJ or (an)other alien to do a one off for us.
Is there anything in the rules about using drivers that arent registered or have never taken part? Would leave a bad taste in the mouth, we dont have the resources to drag in someone from the planet zarg. :alien: :surrender:

I noticed that Freq has not attended any of the races but he is a team member and entitled to take part.   Zacari has not been about over the last few weeks.   There is no chance of me making up any ground on my own and I need assistance.

Luke69 is a junior shark....he's been in for the last couple of races and has a FT spot  ;)

I think it would be good, if registration continues, that ONLY FT drivers can score team points.

I had absolutely no intention of racing tonight, but given the state of the team championship I will do my best to turn up.  Of course, given I'm not FT, I may not be able to get into the server anyway :D

I think it would be good, if registration continues, that ONLY FT drivers can score team points.

That's all well and good, as long as non-attending FT people get kicked from being FT if they miss a race or 2.  I've been stuck non full-time all season, despite being top of the championship for 7 rounds and asking for a FT place, so I should not be able to score team points? ???

The Tvr is great around here. I had a go last night and it was my fastest car, just as they were all within tenths of each other.    If you want the set up to give you something to go on I'd happily send it on.   We can't miss out to the other teams. So don't miss it!

I crossed the line about 1-2 secs after the cars went. But went over the line. Hopefully it will log the details.

Hmm... i'm mega dischuffed now.
Got disconnected with 2 mins of Q left (from 6th pos) so started at the back.
Had a nice tussle with several drivers, fought my way back up to 8th with a lot of passes and a few drivers spinning off - then with a couple of laps left got disconnected again!!

Dunno what it is coz my internet is stable and fast now (with fast.co.uk ironically)

Any ideas what I need to investigate coz this is doing my head in now? :(

Good race up till then anyway. Thanks all - and grats to winners.

That was a heck of a tough season finale ! Enjoyed great racing the entire evening from praccy through to race finish  8) ...even if my setups felt completely different to all my pre race praccy  :'(

Brilliant battle with DG in his Z from almost start to finish. I picked up two early cut warnings whilst under pressure and cold tyres and it cost me every lap after that as i had to tippy toe through that final chicane.

Was in a battle for 6th with DG with only about 10mins to go, but the last person i wanted to see in my mirrors at that point was Mark flipping Mclean...my ontrack nemesis! You must get better lap by lap in your races because you always catch me late on and pretty much always get by. I made it easy for you by twice running wide down at the S;s whilst chasing DG and watching you in my mirrors at the same time  :(
I went from hero to zero in about 3 minutes as i dropped from the 6th battle down to 8th but even worse got a tank slapper that i desperately tried to hold out of that final chicane, span onto the grass and dropped to a cruddy 11th place...i was mortified  :'(
The gods must have been on my side as i chased the guys down who just went past, as first Baracus Discod (unlucky mate) and then ginsters went auto-crossing in his fezza and i regained 2 of the few places lost.
I was knackered at race end and soaked in sweat!

Congratulations to the podium boys and particular well done to TT. I really hope he did enough to secure the championship ?

First outing in the 360 was great fun :)

Gradually getting hang of it by end of quali but no laps in race trim left me nervous at start. Nerves not helped by Steve sitting on outside of old chicane kerb :o Nothing to be afraid of really, its easy and had plenty of close racing. A couple, jimmy(?) and bara were warping (I wondered why the hell you were shoving me on straight) badly for me and things got very tricky. Shame really as I could just about hold onto you both. Still great battle with Darren till end which I fought hard to win only to run outta fuel. Who would have guessed the Italian motors have faulty electrics? ;)

Congrats to JR and TT, nice to cya different face up top :).

My own pc's replay shows me crossing the line before I cut out.

It seems Jeffs car crossing the finish line was my trigger for disco.

However my connection was still active and my modem was fine

Very intense race!!   Followed Jeff and Brian and TT for the first couple of laps then made a stupid mistake at Redgate and Paul, Zacari and Backo went through. Managed to stay with them and gained a position when Backo went into the pits ,  Paul then then made an unfamiliar mistake and Zacari and i went through . Got close to Zacari but he put in a very fast lap and pulled a second .
I pushed hard and got close as i was abit quicker through the old hairpin but he was going through chicane so quick the gap stayed the same, a lap later he made a mistake and i got through and started gaining on TT.    Got closer and closer and got a good run out of coppice on the last lap and went to the outside as we braked for the chicane was no way thruogh and i wasnt going to risk it knowing the championship positions then suddenly Brians car appeared from no where as it was frozen on the racing line ( very tough luck Brian), Clattered it hard , spun and stalled .  Managed to restart and just got 4th in front of Zacari.

Grats to jeff on another great drive , Dave on a good result and TT on the champioship.... Well done mate ;)

Thanks to all you who organise everything.

Cheers

I qualified quite well for my Gillet in 6th, an incident in the warm up (I've been told I was lagging, that's new for me  :-[) put me down to 8th. After the start I was so close to Backo ahead of me but I couldn't get past because of the top speed difference. But my race ended when I put a wheel on the grass while braking for the old hairpin and spun off, almost stuck in the gravel and rejoined dead last.

After that I kept pushing for the whole race and gained many places, including a couple of great battles with Porsches, good stuff.

Congrats to the winners and thanks to the organization. Looking forward to next season :D

Oh no! Sorry matey!!
So, I still have a problem then it seems. I'm gonna have to call the ISP AGAIN and get BT involved AGAIN!
I wonder what it could be - it all looked smooth as silk for me though.

Very sorry about that - I wondered why you were weaving on the straight but it must have been me constantly ramming you or you trying to communicate for me to get away from you!

first of all big congrats to tt on a well deserved champ win!

Race started ok but with tt going so strongly it was always going to be tough to beat him by the two places i needed. I made things worse by making a mistake and dropped back just behind dave.

Then had a great battle with dave until a car at least a lap behind came out of the pits behind us. What happened next was simply unbelievable and i think stands out for me as the worst/inconsiderate/brainless bit of driving i have seen in this league. If anyone want a free lesson in how to ruin other peoples races for absolutely no reason or for any possible gain then this is it. Incident report to follow and it wont be pretty.

After that i then had a couple of good battles with jan and busi which cheered me up a bit. Thanks chaps!

It's been a supreme effort mate so a huge "well done" and kick back and enjoy it with a few cold one's in true Legends style (or lack of... ;)) :euro:

YOU DID IT!!!  :jumpjoy:

so me crossing the line seconds after the cars disappeared never logged?    I just feel very odd about this one. There is no question I was going to finish second as had big gap over 3rd.   I was through last bend when the other cars disappeared and I really was yards from the line.    Obviously I have proof by way of my own replay that I safely crossed the line seconds after.     Not sure how incidents like this are viewed upon, but it really is exceptional circumstances.

As a matter of policy we don't 'correct' disco'd drivers - it's extremely unfortunate that it happened in the circumstances it did but if I were to alter the results now there would understandly be cries of "foul!" from the non-Sharks. :-\ It's a very, very sad way to end the championship though. :'(

I really feel you for you Kerr and the rest of your Team Shark Jr team-mates. It's certainly not the ideal way we'd have liked to pick up the team title :'(

Couldn't reproduce my excellent form from P2 in qually and had to settle for 12th on the grid, behind MJ and ahead of SbG.

Went with soft rears and hard fronts as the wear rates seemed pretty even and with rear wing of only 4 and the diff nearly on its most open settings I needed the balance to stay consistent.

Start went well and there wasn't too much pressure from behind; I seemed to be able to match MJ's pace over a lap and whilst we were fast in different places I couldn't really get close enough to mount a proper attack and had to wait for a mistake. It was a long time coming but finally I was through; however, MJ wasn't going to give up without a fight and for a few laps he put me under intense pressure until Paul Richards caught him up and applied some pressure of his own. That gave me a small breather which usefully coincided with my tyres going through their slippery phase at about 7-8 wear on the XD monitor.

Soon PR was on my tail. I was having to brake much earlier than the Porkas for Goddards and he ran into my tail, luckily no real damage done. By this time I was up to about 6th, having lost Backo to his lack of self-control, Steve Holmes and Darren to something or other, Busi to a mistake, and probably a few others. Paul finally found a way by as Backo arrived having done a stop and go, only to get taken out by him at Goddards a lap later.

That left MJ on my tail, but Mark McClean arrived and started attacking him, which gave me a little break, but after a few laps he found a way by and was soon after me. Somehow I resisted and Brian's ill fortune handed me 5th a few seconds from the chequered flag, easily my best result of the season at a track where I wasn't expecting the Z to go so well, helped of course by others' problems and mistakes.

One of the most enjoyable dices I've had for ages - the battles with MJ and PR were top draw, and the short fight with Mark at the end was the icing on a delicious cake. ;D

Action has already been taken to remove this particular person from the league.

Ah well what a bummer!    Can't believe it happened. Last corner of the last race!    I actually don't think it was my connection at fault. It was still working. Watching my own replay all the cars disappeared when Jeff finished. That seemed to trigger it.       I started 2nd with a time I knew I could better, just could not piece a perfect lap together. Jeff was out the blocks really fast. He was up to speed far quicker than me.        He opened out a little gap then continued lapping last a tenth or two quicker every lap. I just could not match his pace even though my car felt great.     Maybe I was too cautious is the corners with cutting issues as I never once recieved a warning. Maybe I should have attacked that little more.    Maybe that way I might have got to the line on time.             Well done to TT and the legends.      I can't believe my luck this season. My attendance has not been good enough with all the things going on at the moment. They with so many disco's in recent weeks twice for 2nd place and twice from 1st I'm dropping way too many points.

Also well done to Legends Racing on the team championship and again for those pesky Juniors beating the original Team Shark. It won't last my friends! ;) :whistling:

Whooohoo !...what a great feeling waking up to find us Team Champions in the normally very 'alien win-only' territory of the sprint series  :jumpjoy:

Fantastic driving by our spear-point driver TT all season made it possible and we are making sure his room is piled high with crates of Cinzano, champers and fine cuban cigars, served by our splendid looking pit girlies  :thumbup1:
Top job mate ! Congratulations on becoming GTC Sprint champion (sounds good aye?!)  :notworthy:

My commiserations to Brian for his unfortunate end to a race, :( personally its a bit of a harsh decision to not let his result stand considering his proximity to the s/f line, but we are gonna take all the winning laurels we can get our grubby mitts on.  :euro:
You gotta be in it, to win it  ;)

Thanks to all the other brilliant contenders, it was a cracking hard fought race season and thanks to all the moderators and organisers behind the scenes for making it happen once again  :thumbup1:

Thanks to all!  8)  Not many times there is a championship winner without a single gold from individual race. :P

My calculations before the race were focused on Paul Richards and MarkMc. My prayers were directed towards Zacari and Baracus not being there. Boy was I  :scared: when I saw Zacari training and later Baracus also joined. Didn't really know how good my on-line pace was. Off-line I had pb 1.06.xxx in Q set up car but on-line it was mostly low 1.08s. Had to do some serious tweaking - wing from 9 to 6, unusual diff settings to make it drivable, extreme settings of dampers and non-simetrical springs (yes, Steve  :D ) It was quite fast but relatively unstable, so eventualy I decided to go with wing 7 in the race.

Q was better than I expected, Rusky and Brian got their usual front and Dan is known to be fast.  :)  I was thrilled at the opportunity with Paul R., MarkMc, Zacari and Baracus behind me. No matter what happened in front these drivers had to finish behind me if I wanted the Championship title. So I was prepared to drive as fast as I needed to do that and not press Dan for 3rd if it won't be necessary. As it was when the race started Dan soon made a minor mistake which made it possible for me to pass. Wasn't even trying to follow Brian, I concentrated on keeping the pesky Dan behind  ;) , aditional driver between me and Paul R. was more than welcome. I saw Paul R. had some kind of trouble  :-\ and the mirror showed that Dan was well working for me by keeping Zacari busy.  ;D
Throughout the race the gap to 4th was just a few seconds and towards the end it was closed, Dan was right on my tail the last few laps and while I was prepared to step down from the podium to win the championship, I wasn't gonna do it without a fight, not on a defensible track like this one. So in the last lap on the straight before the chicane I claimed the inner, defensive line and BOY was glad for it when Brians car appeared stationary right before the chicane entry. Saw Dan pick him up and I wasn't sure he'll survive the crash.  :(  Good recovery for Dan and bad luck for Brian.  :(
Strange and non-typical moment by disco in the last meters of the race. A tough decission by DG and while I'm sympatetic with The Small Teeth Team I welcome and respect the fair decission which brought the team title to the Legends!  :jumpjoy:  Well done boys, this kind of thing is always worth celebrating.  8)  Good show from other Legends drivers - Darren climbing the ladder up and down  :P , MJ for good consistency and finish recovery and Steve for showing much progress in the short time driving GTR2. Pops was there and his support is always welcome.  8)  Too bad Adam coulnd't attend.  :-\
Grats to all others who were trying along and made this championship such a high event. Of course it wouldn't be the same without all the staff behind. Well done all and thanks again for all congrats!  :thumbup2:

Yay, TT for President.  8)  Well done mate, what a well deserved champ, consistent and quick to the nth degree.  (Hmm, consistent, sure there's a lesson there  :D).

And Team Champs too, wouldn't have been possible without the, err, 1 or 2 points I think I contributed.   ;D

My race was blighted by terrible setups, like a lump of lard with the one I had practiced on, trying too hard to preserve the rear tyres.  So I just went oversteer mad and completely stiffened the rear end and opened the diff, which was great for qually, but when I bolted on mediums, without testing it, it was a handful in the race.  Quick if I stayed on track but mistakes on many laps.  After oversteering across the inside of the Old Hairpin 3 times I fought the pit box for a while until it agreed I was actually able to take my stop/go.

Never mind, I didn't know it was possible to make a 911 fun to drive (sorry MJ  :D), but it was great fun, especially on worn tyres, even if I was a lap down.  Been a great learning experience this first UKGTR season, thanks to all involved, especially Dave and all the moderators and admins.   :)

Bit of a comedy for me last night, too many errors. Hope I didn't get in anybody's way.

Enjoyable early battle with Ade but then had to do a Stop/Go for track cutting and after that couldn't get any consistency.

If you want a good laugh, check out the bit on the replay where I semi-spun out of the chicane into the pit lane entrance! Decided it was easier just to trundle through the pits and back out the other end. rofl.  :'(

Big thanks to all the hard work by everyone organising the league and congratulations to all the winning teams/drivers. Looking forward to next season.

i dont like the corner cutting penalty set here at Donington, its too draconian. The one up at the final chicane especially as even if you have two wheels on the tarmac it penalises you. It ruins the natural line up through there.
Most people incurred cut warnings and some stop and go's just through accident or under pressure in racing rather than any attempt to blatant corner cut, so how is that fair?
I got two warnings myself quite early on whilst under pressure and cold tyres and it compromised nearly every lap afterwards for something like 25 mins of the race as i had to tippy toe through that end chicane rather than concentrate on racing the guys around me.

Wasnt there a debate about this last time we raced at Donington and i think the mods response was 'we are looking into it' ?  I presume it got overlooked as Doni wasnt used for a while.

We had a test race when Shark did the first UKGTR version of Dono and relaxed the checking. I was taking some liberties in the final chicane and never got warned - the only warning I picked up was for getting it wrong at the Old Hairpin. Remember, the rule of thumb the checking has been changed to is not "two wheels on the road", it's "all four wheels on the road/curbs".

The consensus was very clearly in favour of the track changes, with the exception of the old hairpin, which was changed because of the feedback in the poll...

I did not get a single warning last night.

Talking about the last chicane, watching the touring cars the other week, they had placed foam blocks just inside the kerb to deter cutting.

I really don't think it was any tighter here. You could go ever so slightly over kerb too.

I think I got 1 warning last night, and that was at the old hairpin when I got it 100% wrong and turned in too early.  The corner cutting system seemed 100% spot on to me.

Congratulations to all the winners this year and especially to TT and well done all who finished, didnt finish participated through the season.

It was another difficult race for me, couldnt get near my best practise times beforehand then during the race couldnt get into it and was falling off too much. For the first half i felt like i could brake into the final chicane better than i've ever done before then for the last half i seemed to be locking up all the time. There's no real chance to relax with this circuit which made it a pain. I didnt realise the track was a strict as that on corner cutting which meant i was conciously trying to avoid it in the chicane.

Well after the relative highs of last season, this time with a single class sprint has shown just how far people are improving and i take my hat of you guys. Also thanks all the people involved behind the scenes in organising it all.

Need to start considering a change in cars i think for next season, well i was thinking of the 350Z ::) nevermind. Any details yet ;) Just want to start early!

Wish i would have joined this but i didn't want to impose as there seemed to be a huge que of people wanting to race in what was
a big finale race.I have watched the replay however and from what i saw it was petty eventfull looking, hard luck there Paul R that must have been so
annoying and congrats to tt even tho i ain't raced a lot yet i look forward to hopefully joining the sprint events in 8 series but maybe not with my snail vertigo now.

Would like to have raced here, but managed to get the day and date mixed up, don't know whether there was was room as a reserve on the night anyway.

Will there be a post for the next season and relevant registration instructions on the normal GTR 2 general thread, or should I be looking else where.

Congrats to the winners.
