should be a good one. The magny upper sprint a couple of seasons ago still goes down as one of the best. Here is hoping for the same with a slightly different result.

Ooh, rather exciting to start my first real GT1 race, shame I'm always pretty poor at Magny.

Shame you couldn't make the LeMans race Jeff, that Viper was made for those long straights.

I think I'll do GT1 sprint and GT3 enduro...I usually go for 2 championships as a good number. Not a clue what car to use as I'm still real busy. If I'm still not sure on Tues, I'll probably stick to the S7.

I think it will be another season of the Lambo for me, I don't really get on with any of the other GT1 cars at all.

So maybe the Saleen. :laugh:

Have you tried the Lister, somewhat similair as the Lambo?

Yes, it's got dreadful snap oversteer and I hate it. :P :P :P

I might join you for this one. Had a couple goes at GTR over the weekend, for probably the first time in three months. I can't believe we ever thought GTR2 was too easy.  :D Starting to get the hang of it again, hopefully I can get around and stay out of trouble. Lapping in the 1:34s in race trim, which isn't bad, but with a bit too much lawnmowing.

Changing from the Lambo to the Saleen for this season.

Used the saleen in my first season here, but couldn't drive it too well. Hopfully i've learnt a bit more by now so may be able to get more from it.

Damn, borked the PC last night so no practice at all, a complete reinstall of Windows needed, and pub after work today, so tomorrow after work is going to be a bit of a panic.  Touch and go whether I make it I fear.  That'll teach me to play around rather than just do some practice.   :-\

I was gunna give the Saleen a try this season as i really enjoyed it at LM's, but as it looks like quite a few are gunna be using it i might just stick with the Lambo again.

Hopefully our new team mate Bussi might be able to help me with some setups  ;) ;)

I think I'm going back to the Lambo after a season with the Lister.

I'm toying with the idea of the Saleen or maybe even 550/575.

My personal lap record here was in the MC12 and it's a really good car here, but the thought of Imola and Spa worry me in the MC12. Credit to anyone daft brave enough to take it.

I (daft) will be going in the MC12.  My race pace is around the 34.5 - 35.5 but i havn't finalised my setup yet so i think I could manage a low 34 on a good lap.

I dont give two hoots what everyone else takes ;D....my choice is based purely on what I like to drive rather than...'will it be any good at xxx'.....same for all series for me....so I cant blame MJ for taking the porka's...thats his preference.

Personally, I would like to see a 'no change of car allowed' rule introduced, to stop folk swapping to 'something better suited' when it suits.  8)

Well, I have no idea if I'm gonna enjoy my Saleen season. I'll take it because I haven't really driven it in GTR2. In GTR1 it was eating tyres so it was not as enjoyable as it might have been.  :)

Just having a quick practice just now.

The MC12 seems very sharp this season. Clearly more powerful.

Within a couple of laps I'm already doing 1.31.000.

The car just feels different than before, I'm liking it. Will have to try it elsewhere and see if it feels fine on the other tracks.

Thats reassuring :) Haven't done any laps as yet but the ones I do will be in the glorious MC12. Be warned Brian, I only tested the MC12 at Mugello last season and even queried that it was to quick, soon found it wasn't as good at other venues (in fact it sucked at some  :)). Tis a bit of fun at all tracks though which is all that concerns me. That, and whether Mugello is gonna be in schedule again :)

i think DG said he hadnt changed anything on the MC12  :-\ ..so must be Brian getting better  :'(

I checked my qually setup from a couple of seasons ago and it says i did a 1:31.6 here in the masa  :o so i seem to have lost a couple of seconds this time around, (though only done a handful of laps so far).
Masa was best at Dubai and Magny, it seems to suit the smoother flowing tracks better.

I think i'll be going with the Lister now its on michelin boots. Mainly as i think its the safer option, handles well, brakes well just a shame it feels a bit under powered.

It has another 1% of torque, that's all.

I just felt quicker but there is no way you would detect 1% extra torque.

I have had a go in most cars now and can't touch the MC12.

As SBG said and I have before too, it's all fine it being a flying machine here a few tracks it's very difficult to drive.

I keep thinking Lambo, but then for something different 575 or even the Vette. If I did go Vette there is no way I could afford to carry ballast.

Right, I've made my decision and 575 it is.

I've not been back in the MC12 to see if I could better my time, but don't fancy it for some tracks.

The Lister I can do 1.31.2 in quali trim and the Lambo will be about the same, maybe a little quicker.

I've seen Busi manage a 1.30.8 earlier and with me in the 575 I can't match that. I'm just hoping my race car is better than his.

With me driving I do find there is a bigger difference between qualification and race time in the Lambo than there is in the 575.

Good race that. Didn't have high expectations as I kept flying off in my practice sessions. Managed to move up to 10th from 17th on my last hotlap. Made one small mistake near the start, nearly letting Steve Holmes past, but after that I was pretty consistant. Got into a good rythym and gradually pulled away from the cars behind me, picking up a few places as people ahead went off. Pretty uneventful for the most part, but good fun nonetheless, and finished a respectable 7th.  :)

Congrats to Brian on the win. Have a balloon.  :balloon:

Sorry for my rather crap driving at the start, had wheel problems, everything went wierd and i had no feeling at all in the straights and then the wheel would yank itself into the corners and go very stiff  ??? ??? could hardly turn it!

Tried to soldier on but when i had cars around me i was a danger so was gunna quit but then i hit the pit straight wall and i was out anyway.

I didn't expect to be as far up the order I was, I was very impressed with my own pace. During the parade lap my game switched down to desk top and I franticaly reached for the mouse to get it back up. By the time I did I had dropped to 16th, but I'm just glad everyone seemed to have avoided me.

Had some great scraps along the way with various people, could have finished higher, but a few silly mistakes here and there ment a 13th place finish.

Pribeiro, I can only appologise for that tap it was a silly mistake on my part.

Didn't read the Info for this race just hopped in and made a quali lap and thought that its a mandatory pitstop as always.. "what a daft prick I feel like now"  :whistling:
I was in 9'th the last lap and I had Mark Jonzo breathing down my neck the last lap before pitstop ...Jesus what a misscalculation I made... well I cant blame anyone else then myself...

That was very hard work actually for a sprint :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: but mainly very very enjoyable.

only downside was three double downshifts locking my wheels up and sending me off cost me a better place....had some good battles...pribeiro was much slower in places but I couldn't find a way passed him...good driving mate...sorry about the tap under braking into the hairpin.....I was a little too close and the brakes on the Saleen are not red hot.  ::) No damage done though I hope.

Grats to brian, Steve and busi...that looked like some battle from where I was lads. :thumbup1:

I wanted to start my comments but, hold on, why am I not 2nd?

The chequered flag was shown at the end of lap 26, Brian did another lap when the race had already finished... does it count anyway??? It should be checked... :-\

Think there is something wrong with the results. It was showing 7th on my screen when I finished, not 8th. Looking up the list I don't think Steve Holmes was 2nd, he was behind me at one point. Looks like the export has probably got screwed up, at the end a couple people were saying they never got a chequered flag.

Good turnout tonight :) Nice to see some new faces and some golden oldies return and give the GT1 races what it deserves.

As usual, that was a brilliant race in the MC12. Eased into it for first five laps then began to push a little to hunt down Reign Man and hold off Dan. Then all hell broke loose when Bara joined us in his fezza :) Seemed like the four way battle lasted for ages with Bara the fastest but, knowing how tricky it to pass here, we all stood our ground. He duly got past me as I made a wee mistake and then began badgering Dan who had got in front. Hilarious moment as Dan entered Lychee and started snaking, Bara duly followed his moves and I joined them as it looked like fun. I am really not sure what happened there but it felt like I was driving on ice for a good lap after that, any ideas? Then it settled down and I only made a place when Reign Man lost it somewhere :'( Then had TT over me for last two laps to make it fun.

Sure that will be the first good race of many :) Congrats to the podium.
  

Really fun race.

Had a decent qually. Pipped 3rd from SBG on my last lap to take 3rd spot  ;D

Got a decent start and tried to stay with Brian, but he and Busi were to fast and they pulled out a gap.  Behind me were the two Masserati's of SBG and Minton. The gap to both of them who were battling it out was steady at around 1 to 1.5 seconds.  Great racing chaps  :thumbup2: The gap remained like that until just after the halfway mark when Baracus joined the party. He had just got past SBG and was catching me up when I over cooked it in turn two. 

After swallowing a bit of gravel, I rejoined and was about 2 second behind SBG and Minton when they decided to have a taste of the gravel too a lap later.   ;D I was back in 4th and chasing Baracus when we came accross a back marker, I caught him at just the wrong time.....going into the scond chicane, he was going slower than I expected so I had to just head for the inside gravel trap and hope that it would stop me before  I hit the wall.

It worked  ;D  So after spending the customary Team Pseudo Time in the gravel  :whistling:  I rejoined in 6th, and thats where i stayed untill the end of the race.  I took it easy cuz I was knackered :sweatdrop:  ;D

Just disapointed that I messed up twice.

My first GT1 Race, that was good fun. 8)

Managed to keep things together to finish the race despite having to fend off Ade, he was all over me like a rash for almost the entire race :o  Good driving Ade 8)

Just had a look at the results export. Think the problem is that Steve Holmes is shown as completing 27 laps, instead of the 26 the other drivers completed. Think Steve was one of the drivers who said they didn't get a chequered flag. Brian was the other one, and he is also showing as 27 laps, but I think he won anyway, so that probably doesn't matter.

Yeah Strange...I definately finished in 6th place, not 7th   I did get the cheqered flag  ???

Well that was awsome track is such a challenge..Decided on the Maserati which ive never really liked before but managed to get a good set up with a bit of practice and some set up tips from Sebastian bourdai after reading Autosport  ;D
was driving the car way too hard in qually and was way slower than my best but got 5th.
First few laps was good until i got a tap from TT at the hairpin which put me back to about 7th, Gazza then got past but managed to get back past with some good driving from him.. Nice one  ;)
Then got my head down and started to chase down TT  , Think TT's tyres where past there best as i got past and managed to pull a gap quite quickly.  Want expecting to catch Reign, Bara and SBG but managed to catch them after about 8 laps. Had a great battle with all for the next 4 laps.. Reign went off at T2 which was hard luck as he was on it tonight .
Got past SBG with a demon braking move up the inside and got Bara after he went wide .   Then bang left rear tyre goes and im spinning all over the place that was it race ruined.

Exciting race! For all I tried I couldnt repeat my winning performance last time we raced Magny (my only GTR win I think!) and my driving was a bit rusty. Couldnt realy get a clean qually lap in so aimed for driving a steady race and see what happens. I seemed to be able to make up a lot of ground into Adelaide but was losing just as much in the first sweeper. Great racing with Reign Man, SBG and Dan - seriously good fun thanks everyone :)

Its the sort of track that you really do need to let the car do the work, which is fine once one locks into the groove but it took me a while. Sorry to anyone behind that I surprised with my bouts of slow apexes and lairy opposite locks ;)

Cheers JPS1 was enjoying that  ;D  soz for the knock at T1 I think you braked a bit harder when you let a car through on the inside and i was a bit close. Ended up hitting escape when my tires where shot and things where getting a bit ragged.

I never got a flag to signal the end of the race. I had no idea it was until everyone started crashing and talking. Race time also shows 42 min 55sec which is not right.        My first ever race in the 575 and it went well. I knew from earlier I probably could not match Busi quali pace with the 575 but resisted the temptation to go back to the lambo, mc12 or even the 550 as I knew my race car was better than qualification car.              I had to chuckle on the warm up lap. I thought busi had put it in the wall. His attempt to warm the tyres sent the car off the track towards the wall. He must have missed and I kept things slow enough he could move ahead of me.       busi ran a little wide on the second corner on cold tyres and I managed to slip up the inside.   I managed to pull out some breathing space and could go at my own pace. The gap then remained the same for a bit then my tyres started going off.      Wear was not particularly bad but just had little grip front of back. Busi caught up and put me under pressure for a bit but i held on to win, whenever the race actually finished.          Happy with my first outing in the 575 and hardly made a mistake of any note. A wobble or two on worn tyres. Great race and pace busi, you were never far away.    It looks like to win this season the pace will have to be stepped up from previous seasons as I don't think we were that quick last time here. Think both lap records went too.

Great first race back in the GT1 monsters. Forgot how much hard work it is wrestling these beasts around the track, especially once the tyres start to go off. I was sweating buckets by the end.

Qually didnt go as planned, at least a second off my pB. :(  Was 6/10ths up on my best lap at one point only to balls it up on the penultimate corner, otherwise would have quallied top 8 i think?

Race was a constant battle from start to finish with no letting up, enjoying some good dices with several drivers along the way.
I spent the whole race between 9th and 11th, losing places to 1 spin at same penultimate corner as qually, and one tank slapper at estoril curves, but then regaining the places. Finished 9th with two other legends in top 10 so a good team performance.

Great pace up front, congrats to the podium guys.  8)

Anyway here goes my race:

Great quali, even if 3 tenths off my PB. At the warm up lap I spun the car to the wall, thanks for waiting Brian :) I went on med/hard tyres and needed them up to temp or I was dead. At the start I released the limiter very few metres before the finish line to avoid what happened at Brno, I hope it was Ok. Then at Estoril corner I understeered with still cold fronts and had to hesitate on the throttle, that gave Brian the lead.

After 4 or 5 laps I was up to speed and managed to keep the gap with him at around 5 seconds. At the second half of the race I started reducing it a little bit, backmarkers were not a problem (very good job by all you guys  ;)) and with few laps to go I was just behind Brian. I didn't really have a chance to overtake, in the last lap though I was gonna get ready for an attempt into Adelaide, but when we were about to exit the previous corner I had a double shift that made me spin and it was gone.

Very happy to finish 2nd just 3 seconds away from the winner, that is if results are changed :laugh:

Very enjoyable race for me - DMN gave me a place during the (slightly hectic) formation lap by falling off, then after he got past during the race Darren had me under constant pressure and eventually I cracked, touching the sand going into Imola and losing about 3 places.

After that I chased down a pack of three; the Lambo isn't quick in a straight line but it is very quick out of the long right hander and Picnic made it easy for me to pass once I got alongside him. Got past the other two as well and set off after TinMan but he was a long way up the road by then and the during the last 2 or 3 laps I was struggling with tyre wear and more worried about the increasingly loud rumbling of Picnic's C5-R.

The whole race was very intense for me and I'm really looking forward to Sunday's Endurance event now, although I still don't know what class or car to run!

What, I'd I come second for a time.   ??? :D  Thoroughly undeserved if I did.  ;D 

End of the race was a mess, technically.  My pitboard stopped giving gaps 3-4 laps from the end, but then the end never came, I saw cars all over the track near Adelaide and assumed that must have been the end but with no official indication I carried on round, slowly, to finish another lap, I was going to carry on further and see if I could get the end of race, but 2 litres wasn't going to get me round.  Got no chat from anyone either and half the field were missing in the standings.  No idea if I was still properly connected but at least I do appear to be in the results.   :)

My first real GT1 race (bar a half-hearted super-enduro) was good, monster cars, love 'em even if like PR I'm not too confident in them.  Lonely race, I'd got some confidence up during the end of qually, started the race feeling good but made a few minor mistakes and decided to ease back a bit, then it was lonely all the way as Aagramn pulled away and I pulled clear of those behind, once Pseudo and MJ made mistakes and fell behind.

Exhausted by the end after too much post-work practice trying to get up to speed, lost the car several times in the last few laps, but at least I made it.  I'll definitely be up for more GT1 action, these are real racing cars, especially if I can just go slowly round and do another lap after the end of each race and get the podium that way.   ;D

Saleen is not as good as I thought. I think I'm slower than in the Lister, though I hope it's due to not knowing the car enough.  :)
