About GTR Evolution for PC

GTR Evolution contains 5 new classes of the finest cars with a total of 30 new models to race. In the GT classes players can experience legendary cars like the Corvette C6R, Aston Martin DBR9, BMW M3 GTR, Koenigsegg CCGT and Spyker GT2R.

Even more exciting are the all-new WTCC Extreme cars. These are pumped up fictional WTCC car designs developed by SimBin in cooperation with the FIA WTCC, and are exclusive to GTR Evolution.

The racing thrills continue with the Production Car Class featuring the street versions of the Audi R8, Dodge Viper SRT/10, Koenigsegg CCX and Gumpert Apollo. Overall, GTR Evolution offers 49 unique cars in 12 classes with more than 500 variations as well as 19 tracks in over 40 different layouts including the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Features

In-Game File sharing to up- and download setups or ghost files while being in the game.

Race-line in Time-Trial is a feature inspired by the Race-line in GTR2 but features more options. There are distinctive brake-markers to indicate braking points, the game can now show two Race-lines simultaneously. These Race-lines including their ghost-files and setups can be up- or downloaded in-game as well.

Upgraded Replay system with the possibility to not only save the full replay after the race but also the instant replays that can be viewed during the race.

Nationality indicator for the player-profile will now be equipped with a flag and a country indicator following the player throughout the game.

Game modes

Championship functionality for full integration of the GT cars to run an endurance championship as well as a touring car championship. This functionality is also added to the Custom Championship, allowing the player to mix in the GT cars and WTCC Extreme cars with the other content.

GTR Evolution is distributed by Atari in Europe, Viva Media in the US, Akella in Russia, QV software in Australia and Zoo in Japan. The release is set for the second half of August 2008.

Not impressed by the trailer TBH. Cars seem to move sideways on a straight line or something, dunno, but they often look weird.
Also the normal WTCC cars have been fitted with wide body kits and all of a sudden they are GT cars or something? How will a FWD car manage with 400+ BHP?

Nordschleife should be good, but the 3rd party version out already is very good as well, so it needs to be really good to be competetive with the add-on.

To be honest I don't know if I have the heart for GTR Evolution after trying iRacing.
I guess I'll get round to trying it a some point tho.

I'd have thought they're more likely to be RWD silhouette cars, a la the old V8Stars.

Looks like the Nord is the only reason to buy it. Dissapointed with Race 07 (WTCC pretty fun though) so really not sure if I'll bother. Amazing that they are really struggling to beat GTR2 after all this time, wonder if it'll become like GPL?

Oh dear.  :(  Thought this might update GTR2 with the more recent GT1/GT2 cars, but they seem to have invented their own GT classes and missed out most of the cars. No MC12, no Fezza 550, no 911s or F430s.   >:(   Looks like just an arcadey joke really.

I wouldn't write it off just yet, although it does seem that they've modelled some new cars ready for GTR3, which will presumably use the Lizard engine, and wanted to get them out there sooner.

You never know, it might have revolutionary tyre modelling. :D

Thoroughly underwhelmed - think that sums it up.

It seems to be moving away from GTR and towards Gran Turismo, it looks arcadey.  Whilst I might be tempted to try the demo to see if my misgivings are grounded, I very much doubt I'd get it anyway.  They're banging on about "the Ring" - but I don't want to race round it, for me it's a novelty circuit, great to play around on - but little else.

The cars themselves don't hold any new fascination either.

With GTR2, GTL, rFactor, Richard Burns Rally and iRacing on my system I don't see the need for RACE07 (which will be removed shortly) - and I certainly don't see the need for and expansion to RACE07.

That said, I'll never say never ....

With Ferrari Challenge already in the pipe line I think I ll save my hard earned cash, possibly play the demo in case it pulls a rabbit out of the hat. :o

Info so far points to too much quantity and not enough quality. :D

I've tried and tried to like Race '07 physics, but I always end up quitting because it feels too vague. Before iRacing came along, GTR2 had become my go-to sim because it felt so good to drive. As much as I like the idea of more up-to-date GT cars, the thought of driving them in the Race engine is off-putting.

Watching that video, the graphics looked pretty good, but them looking at the screnshots, I couldn't help but wonder how much post prodction went into that video, because the screenshots look much worse.

Now if they just call it a "revolutionary racing simulation", charge everyone a fiver a month to use it without their mates, and make it extremely difficult for anyone to actually race properly without some kind of sanction - I reckon they're onto a winner.

Oh wait - perhaps that's already been done!! LOL
