what's the chances of a reserve making it into the lower endurance race?

I'll actually have some free time this sunday, and I've been jonsing for some UKGT action.

I have had a change of heart....and decided to use my free car change for the season.

Whilst I love driving the Verti....I am missing the Viper cc badly....and it is the only car from the available GT3 choices that hasn't been used yet this season, so I will be in the tank for the remaining races. ;D

Hope all goes well McFids 8).......anyone that goes for a third must be mad :o...good luck.

My intention was to keep the same car through the entire season but the heavily nuetered Vertigo is simply just boring to drive, if it wasn't for my sound engine mod I probably would have changed earlier.

Looks like it is going to be the 911 for me, possibly a mad choice, but it sure is interesting to drive, start off slow I am sure but will hope to get to know this little beast a bit better and try to increase my speed, will try and not get in anyones way while this happens. ;)

I shall be joining in for this one as as i enjoy the GT3 class and the track.

Though after some brief practise i'm down to a 1.38.7 in the vertigo, which is really bizare after just checking the lap records. And i wasnt running particularly light. Cant beleive the last race here was a tri-class one; must have been mayhem!

Has to be kept in mind though that the vertigo has stepped down from GTC class and most other GT3 cars have had performance boosters to help match things out....so most GT3 records should be in danger this season.

Had an ok start, me and Legzy had a comming together that was morso my fault for an aggressive attack on Legzy. He was kind enough to wait up and let me pass!

Played the Catch-Up game for about 12 laps, and caught up to the battle for 23-20th and got a couple of places in there. Then on lap 16ish, I hit the last turn before home straight a little to hot and ended up in the sand. I forgot how much these cars hate that stuff compared to their GTL counterparts.

Anyway, dropped ALLLL the way to last after all the fighting I did to gain some spots, and I was also 30 seconds behind. Tyres were feeling it after that spin and I had to fight with it for the next 3 laps till my schedued pit. Came out of the pits 48 seconds behind, and figured I will just race around as I won't be able to compete again in the UKGT leauge for another month or so. Lap 33 and I hit the sand in the same place again, and just wasn't in the mood to get out.

I don't think i'll ever get the hang of these cars!

Not a very good race for me. Qually was very quick but managed to get 7th with a pb.  Got past a couple of people in the first few laps and had TT for company but i started to over drive the car and caught the curb at T2 and spun and dropped down to 12.  Had a little scrap  Micheal in the elise but kept making mistakes.
Decided to take my stop about 3/4 through decided to double stint the tyres and no fuel which paid of as i was up to 8th with SBG right behind ,had a good battle for 5 or 6 laps but then my ran out of fuel with 5 mins to go .  Made a stop but could not get the pit selection screen to pop up  ::) so went back out and ran out fuel.  :(

Grtas to podium

Cheers.

Yuk.

That was 80 mins of shear hell.

The Viper is pretty hard work round here at the best of times....but the track temperatures were far too much for the tyres. had to go with hards all round and they were running at 100 deg plus after the first 3 or four laps.....and it just got hotter and hotter and hotter. :sweatdrop:

Ah well...Zhuhai next....usually cold there  :ninja:

Grats to Busi on the team win....and grats to the podiums.

What a mixed bag :)

Brilliant first half of race. No real deffence against the Vertigo (hopefully a Bimmer track will be here soon :)) but had an excellent battle with both pink bimmers. I led into pits where the ruddy uber efficient crew decided to fill up me tank, damn it I lost 30 seconds to those on my pace. Had nothing to do except try to lap Vertigos which was nigh on impossible as well, despite them helping out nicely. Then an ace finish with Dan to round things off. I almost went for that pass in T1, but turned all mousey half way through ;)

Gotta say ta Pseudo for moving over. I had already pitted and knew you hadn't hence the flash.

Congrats to the podium and RM who took bimmer honours I believe :)

There was some sort of problem with my timing, I suddenly was shown 1st then 10th then back to 1st. I think many drivers weren't shown the blue flags so it was a bit more risky tonight.

Nice fight with FreQ who pushes that Nissan over its limits, luckily my pace got a bit better and the 2nd stint was easier ahead of him.

Finally an official victory :D grats to rest of podium :)

Awesome race again, one of the best so far for me until the last lap when I ran out of fuel. I was in 7th place. :'(

I had great fun chasing SBG and Reign Man who got me in the pits. Me an RM where in viewing distance of each other for the entire race but only swapped places once :o

Gutted to run out of fuel, I stopped on the last corner.

Firstly, really sorry to whoever it was that I hit just before the start. Not sure what happened, everyone seemed to close up really quick. I hope it didn't cause any damage  :(

After that I had a great race, really consistent lap times and some good battles with Prof and Spanner at various points. Fantastic chase at the end with Spanner - great driving mate  8)

Happy to accept any penalty if the incident at the beginning was my fault. Need to check the replay...

I had a great race I think. I had a bit of a slow start as I didn't really know what to look for since I'm not used to this format but it was okay. I was pretty much on the pace with everyone around me but at the same time everyone around me seemed to just go a lot quicker on the straights. Even if I was in the slipstream those pink BMWs just kept pulling away on the straights, but I was pretty quick in the twisty parts.

Early in the race I had a fight with Carl Hart which ended in contact. That was completely my fault. You made a good pass into T2 but I was able to get on the inside right next to you and by the time we got to T3 I couldn't see you anymore. It's no excuse though I should have left you more room. I'm really sorry about that. I hope your car wasn't damaged.

Apart from that I had two moments in the last turn... I spun once and I think may have lost a place to one of the pink BMWs. Then later in the race I half spun but managed to catch it.

I had a great race. I was running 9th or 8th for most of the beginning, then people started pitting and I was 2nd. 30 seconds behind the leader and I still had 20L of fuel left. In the end I think my first stint was too long because the 3rd guy who had already pitted was able to catch me and pass me for 2nd. I pitted soon after, but I forgot to put on softs and went out with mediums again. The car was good in the first stint but a lot better in the second. I was catching up to the guy in front of me, another BMW, and got to within a second but ran out of time in the end.

I had a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks everyone!

Sorry about that PR you were faster down the straight but much slower in that first corner and I had nowhere to go. At least I stopped to wait for you, which not all who nudged me off during the race did  ;)

After you quit I found myself behind fellow Shark, Picnic and we had a great dice with the lead changing several times until pit-stops. I managed to brim my car and join with a slow car. Another fun session chasing Ted and a finish lower than qually meant a poor result in a race I was looking forward to.  :(

No probs, I was gutted when it happened but it's just one of those things that can happen on the home straight when we're still all franticly trying to catch up at the back, then from nowhere it starts bunching ahead. I don't think I suffered but good on you for the drive through  8)

Had an OK start, me and Legzy had a comming together that was morso my fault for an aggressive attack on Legzy. He was kind enough to wait up and let me pass!
I saw you coming, I left you the space & went to follow you through the corner... but suddenly you seemed to suffer a 'wiggle of your rear-end' (oh matron!) & I hadn't left myself the space to avoid you. Let's call that one a 50/50 shall we?  :) Direct-line on standby.

Nothing could spoil this race for me, it's the 1st time I've not been sooo off pace that I felt like I might be in the way at every turn.
Nope today I was nicely on pace & if I hadn't bothered repairing my front end damage (sustained on lap 1) when I pitted on lap 30, Martin Blunder my team mate knows I would have claimed my 1st true team victory.  ;) Next time mate, next time!

Well done all the finishers & you boys at the front especially.  :notworthy:

p.s. When FreQ came to lap me, I got no blue flag despite him being in 2nd. Sorry if I held you up at all (I think it took an extra 2 milliseconds for you to pass)  ;)
p.p.s. Did I mention how much fun the was? Lots & lots!

17th  :( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've suffered from this rule too Hal. It's the way the results are exported which screws it up. As you were 7th and the last person on the lead lap, in a real race even with running out of fuel you would have still finished 7th. But in UKGTR, you stupidly lose a whole lap.

Basically, if you had slowed right down 2 laps from home and let Busi lap you, you would have finished 7th. Despite going slower.  ::)

Gd race for me. Surprised I was somehow in the lead at one point (I think Busi was just bored) and had a little dice. I almost spun at one point and was all over the place ;D

Couldn't stay with him, then after the stops got all confused with people on very weird strategies. Did a few overtakes, but really struggled around here. Zhuhai should be much more friendly to the Z ;D

Grats on your first win Busi, well deserved. And to Purds on the weirdest long stint ever  8)

Morning Guys,

Great race last night at the back of the field!?
So much close racing that I can't remember most of it!  ;)
Team Oldie !  ;)

Have to mention an awesome fight with McFids who I was trying to stick with in the first 3rd of the race. We were together all the time.
Not sure what happened after that but my tyres were shot and I was struggling to maintain the lap times.
Pitted as early as I could and was going well only to come out right behind McFids! That was a laugh!  ;D
I would never have got by were it not for a minor moment!? We were then very close but defensive driving makes it very difficult to pass.
He was nearly past me on the barkes into Curva 2 but I think I just held it fairly.

Tyres were shot again for the last few laps and I think it was JPS closing very fast but held it to the line!

18th ! Great fun!

Oh, must also mention Legzy  ;D
My team mate stuck a load of time in on the set up of our car which now drives beautifully!
If it wasn't for that I would have been way further back! He also was running way faster laps!
Looks like the student has become the master!!  ;D
Glad he's on my team !!  ;)

Thanks all

Martin

Bit of a nightmare race for me that. Lost me original 350Z setup so had to cobble one together quickly - it handled okay but my gear ratios were all wrong and towards the end I was having to manage engine health a bit.

Dunno what caused the startline concertina but luckily the damage to my front didn't seem to have much effect; fought my way slowly up the field until catching Psuedo. He ran wide out of turn 1 but was still so quick that I found myself in no man's land on the inside into 2, unable to back out, unable to make a proper pass, and with no idea what speed he would be doing through the corner or where he would get back on the gas - ended up turning him round :-[ and then had to wait for him on the start finish straight, losing 4 places in the process. :'(

Passing Vertigos was very hard work - they were so quick out of the last corner that the only way to get past was to scrape alongside just before turn 1 and just force the issue with a banzai braking move across the width of the corner. Scarey. :o Got hit up the tailpipes by one a few corners later as he tried to fight back but he came of worst. :P

Another of my favorite tracks next - Zhuhai.

Of the ISI-based sims, only rFactor gets this right. ::) Every time a new sim comes out I beg them to correctly record all laps and every time they disappoint me. :(

ps. I enjoyed it nevertheless - lots of close racing and always something to concentrate on.

You weren't alone in having no idea about that Dave.....with my tyres running in the orange I had to make a guess when I could accelerate too  ::).
NP with the pit manouvere though...and thanks for waiting....with the cornering speed differences I was fully expecting it to happen more often tbh.

Actually Jon and myself were also still on the lead lap, one of my bench marks for a good race is not to be lapped by the aliens in my class :), so Hal would have only finished 9th ;)

Every year I open my house up to a bunch of my friends and they all pile in. We setup a LAN and play silly games all weekend and each more junk food than normal :D This was one such weekend and due to problems with my nephew being picked up I had absolutely no practice for this. In fact I only joined with 10 mins of qual left and did 3 laps on full fuel to get a feel of the car. Didn't look at gear ratios of anything just concentrated on lines etc. Failed to spot I was driving a 5 gear beamer!

So getting from 21st to 9th was a good result for me. Made a couple of passes on route and had a couple of close battles with Prof when I caught him up. I could gobble him up with M Power but the M handling ain't up to the Vertigo's

Average race for me. Qualified 12th which I was pretty happy about. Made a good start holding station and running well and settled to look after the car as it was hot and an endurance race. Had a good battle with Minton and Prof early on. Sorry to Prof for running wide at the last turn and forcing you off track. I missed my brake point as it was blocked from being so close to your rear  ;D My fault 100% and I waited for you. However, not very happy as I got punted off 3 times by other drivers with no sorry or waiting. In fact one driver was so aggresive I wondered if he thought it was a sprint race. I was bumped from behind a few times and he kept trying to lunge up the inside. It worked eventually as it pushed me of into the gravel. Anyway, I worked up to 5th, pitted late but lost loads of places. Came out in 17th I think. Still I had a great battle at the end with Prof. Ended up finishing 15th I think.

Still I enjoyed it lots and looking forward to the next one.

Sorry about that PR you were faster down the straight but much slower in that first corner and I had nowhere to go. At least I stopped to wait for you, which not all who nudged me off during the race did  ;)

You mean our little touch Prof at 809( you were blinking lights afterwards)? If yes really sorry about that but little taps are inevitable in my opinion.
Had a nice race before pitstop, then as usual a lonely second stint ( tyres and fuel),always seem to lose a lot in pit >:(

Was a bit scared of Purds secret plans but eventually I went by when he was still in the pits and with 5 minutes remaining I was confident I can hold him behind. He must have run into some traffic that was it.  :)

I would like to point out two things:
1. Please keep the chat to minimum. You might think it convenient to have nice comments print out with 1 button press but it's distracting. Pit in/out should be all there is for others to know of your intentions, though even that sometimes is not necessary, especially if there's noone close to your car when you're about to pit. Ok, pit out might be useful. All that "Thank you", "Sorry", etc. can wait 'till the end of the race.
2. Racing here are the cars that now fit into one class. That means the lapping cars can't power overtake like in GT/NGT classes. Please ease off before the last moments of the straight - it's risky and time consuming if you do it like that. When you decide to let the guy behind pass, act sooner. This is not flaming in no way, just a friendly recommendation to lose the least amount of time.  :)   Lapping was ok, with some risky moments I'd like to avoid in the future.

TT

This is more or less what happened to me, not so bad when it is three different drivers, but the same driver at three different times :o
Otherwise fun race.

No problem Jan. Lights were for driver coming through behind me as I got back up to speed.

My point was that we are all capable of the odd 'little touch' but I did not want to gain a place by doing so when I touched Ribeiro so waited as many others do. Others are reporting that they lost position as a result of (unintentional) contact that was not their fault. I would not report an incident unless I thought it intentional. Over the last few weeks I have had several multi-lap battles both leading and chasing where there has been no contact (JPS, Ted, Picnic amongst them), this is why I race UKGTR. Last night one person waited for me having made contact with me, others did not - just an observation, no insinuation towards any individual.

Very enjoyable racing last night until a few laps of madness at the very end lost me 4 places.

Wife still hadn't dropped the baby so hopped on the server without much prior practice. The good thing about these large grids here at SRou is that there is someone on a par with you to race with. Last night it was Martin and there was nothing between us. He was close on my tail for the entire 1st stint and after a mistake early in the second stint he got past and now I was chasing him - the hunter had become the hunted!! I was right on his tail but Martin drove very consistently to deny the pass. All very exciting stuff!

With 2 laps to go, a stream of front runners lapped me (without any blue flags as per the entire race, which
was very annoying), and I accidentally let JPS through, which broke my concentration. With my rhythm gone, I tumbled back through the field finishing just behind Psuedo in the end :(

Congrats to the podium - got to admire the consistency - my best lap wasn't a million miles off the pace but it's keeping that level up for 80mins that's the trick.

Can't remember having a better GTR2 battle with anybody buddy!?
Shame it didn't last to the end!?
Better make sure you do NO practice for the next one so you can be as slow as me again!  ;D

lol, well it was an interesting race for me! ;)

had a good quali where i was chuffed with 3rd! start of the race went well, but tactics (and pace  ::)) were lacking. I did the whole race on med/med tyres and went for a loooong 1st stint with the 70L fuel tank taking me to lap 44 before pitting for a splash n dash.

This tactic seemed fine on paper and up until half way was still 'okay.' Even though I ran 1st for a while I knew it was 'provisional' and was hoping for 3rd but TT slipped thru the net mainly due to a big spin into the gravel on my 'in' lap and a solid pace from him....my only mistake of the whole race (apart from my tactics) and this might have saved me third :-X. But with the tyre wear at 34 over the finish line I doubt 3rd was ever realistically a possibility.

I'm guessing most treated it like 2 sprint races pitting half way....hmmm, sounds like a good idea.... ::)

I did really well to hold 7th until the last lap, I really drove better than usual and had constant pressure, so I was really gutted to end up 17th.

Oh well.

The higher the cost of the mistake, the less likely I am to make that mistake again. ::)

I may have contributed to the problems at the end of the warm up lap as I approached a bit too fast, sorry :-\ Also sorry to Prof and Linus27 in the final stages of the race. Me, RM and Gazza were having a battle with Gazza closing fast and I ended up affecting the close battle between Prof and Linus as I was overlapping.

Another fine GT3 race, well done podiums and Busi for Team Psuedo victory ;D

An enjoyable race for me if a bit quiet.

Seemed to be running behind Ted early on then found Dave behind me after he dropped back from clashing with Pseudo, but managed to keep the gap up until he pitted . Kept going passing most people while they were in the pits, but decided to stop when the tyres were going off and i was loosing time around the lap. I really need to sort the pit strategy board out as i should have just stuck a bit more in as a safety margin but i misread it so didnt, but i changed the tyres and eventually coming out infront of Dave but couldnt hold him off on cold tyres on the end of the straight he got by. Soon after i spent the rest of the race trying to work out i i was going to make it to the end on one tank and tried to conserve as much as i could but not loose too much time allowing Ted through. Thankfully the chequred flag came out with half a lap to go but still, it was a bit close at the end, ending with 0.7L left.
