CeeJay is one of the quickest drivers you will see.

You might also notice the record was set with -45kg ballast.

I'm a bit worried about this one. I've not touched Gtr2 for a while and I've always found setting up cars for spa very difficult. I've only got set ups for the lambo and nothing for the 575. I've got a feeling I will be way off the pace here.

yeah yeah Brian...thats called 'sand-bagging'  ;)

Im struggling in the 2:13s race pace (full fuel) in both the maserati and the Saleen  :(
What times are you guys getting?
I never know if i should be on high or low downforce in these GT1 monsters  ??? I can run same laptimes with either a 10 or a 5 rear wing here it seems, car dependant...very odd.

That sounds like wing 7 to me ;D. That's what I'm running here.

You dont count Jeff  ;)...you have that alien corner-flick technique perfected whereby wings are inconsequential  :P

7 wing in a maserati is like running a Monza downforce config for spa  :o

yeah busi was nipping along quite nicely on the praccy server last night, though i didnt see anyone getting in the 2:11's.
As usual my offline setup lost a second online and i could only do 2:14's full race fuel setup.  :(
Still not sure whether to take Saleen or Maserati. The latter is just plain weird with its setup config required. I still think there is something wrong with its basic physics.

Is this the same track as we have used before or is the 2004-06 different?    I've not even had the chance to look yet and better at worst be able to turn up at the right track.

its the 2004 config as used before at srouk.

We should start using the 2007-8 layout so that we can(not) gain an advantage by taking to the escape lane  :P
The new layout has been modded for a while now.

I also did a few laps last night in P2 and did a 2:10 in qually trim, so racetrim is normally about 1 second slower.

I've done thousands of laps here ;D but in race trim I can't be faster than 2:12's so I'll happily finish behind Jeff and Brian after trying to challenge them in quali with my rather quali car lol :)

It was a year ago since I raced here. My quali was 2.11.0 and my race pace was high 12s in the lambo. Although I'm quicker than I was a year ago I've never had the 575 on the track so can't even guess what my pace will be but not hopefull. I can remember that the only cars I could set up right were the lambo and RSR, everything else I struggled.    I will get straight into it once home from work.

Im gunna get killed here in the Lambo!

I love this track but just cant get good times here.  I tried a very low downforce setup last night which actually felt ok but still was in the high 13's 14's.

Dunno what else i can do.

You could always give the rest of us a chance by not practicing Brian. :'( Even in a different car I'd be very surprised if you were not top 3 in qually and race, especially as you'll be driving a Ferrari you can pretty much be assured of a podium no matter where you finish.  ;)

I'll be racing under Vista 64 with 8GB RAM tonight for the first time, so I hope the extra power and stability of Vista will rub off on my driving too.

P.S. Spa is high downforce high speed, I'll be running somewhere between 7 and 10 rear wing depending on what the dice land on. :)

Is there enough moderators that way inclined to exclude Jeff, Busi and Freq to promote my ferrari?     Believe me I need the practice. It's still a new car to me and in general I'm quicker in the Lambo.    Also jumping back and forward between iracing and Gtr2 takes a bit of  time to adapt as no doubt you have noticed too.

Also jumping back and forward between iracing and Gtr2 takes a bit of  time to adapt as no doubt you have noticed too.

Usually takes me the qually session (15-20 minutes) to get back into it and then I remember how to drive GTR2 in the race session. This coincides with my natural tendancy to race better than I qualify so probably doesn't really make any difference in the end for me. Racing in the pack in UKGTR is great fun anyway so I don't really care where I am as long as I have people to have a competition with.

No doubt the mysterious Shark gravitational device sitting in Truetom's boot will make our cars race each other at some point, so I look forward to that as usual. 8)

GT1s and particularly Saleen don't really do what i want, so you might want to keep some distance if you're behind me.  :-\  You might even consider letting me by if you're in front of me - just to be on the safe side.  :P   Joke aside, I'm also looking forward to our usual duel, I just hope I can react better than in Dubai.  ::)

I'll be running tonight, assuming the PC/ connection doesnt fall over again.

My usual setup for the Lister just didnt seem to be working until i found a GH setup, however i can only just get under 2.16, assuming i get through Eau Rouge!

Sorry JPS for the tap. You slowed alot more than I expected you too and I ran out of room to slow things down myself.  :-\

Managed to put myself out of the race with a replay of my opening lap, putting myself off the track at Eau Rouge, only the 2nd time I ended upside down. After the first off I manage to make up the 10 seconds I had lost within two laps and soon was having some great racing with JPS and Evert. However, once again its not my night.

Still love the track and had a blast throwing the F550 about.  :)

I mean, really...  :(  5th in quali (was 0,5 sec faster in one lap, but...), someone lagged on the pace lap, braked, hit, spun, hit, lost front and rear splitter at 50 km/h  ??? , had to pit in the first lap  >:( . Came out 50 seconds behind everybody, got to 6 seconds gap and promptly lost connection.  :hang:

Good that I bought a lottery ticket today.  ;)

What a shame about the warm up lap problem, suddenly Jeff's car froze and I couldn't avoid it, crashing, offtrack and rejoining 4th. No matter who's connection was or if it was the server, but we (me and TT I guess) were just unlucky with that :(

Didn't give up though and tried to take the two places back. Firstly passed sbg into La Source but couldn't get enough slipstream to attack madd-rip. Made a mistake in Les Combes and was back to 5th, but passed sbg again, then Brian made a mistake at Pouhon (I couldn't believe it, Brian making a mistake?? lol) and finally managed to outbrake madd-rip into Les Combes (not without having problems to keep the place after that  ;D). In the last laps I took a look at my gap with Jeff and it kept increasing so I guess I could have not even challenged him at the beginning. Pretty amazing :) great race, thanks all.

I put practice in earlier and knew fine well I was in serious trouble. My car was handling like a dog and I could not do anything with it.

Serious thoughts were given to dump the 575 as I've not really been liking it, and returning to the tried and tested lambo.

The best I could manage was high 2.11s in the qualifying which I was not happy with and that left me in 7th on the grid.

The formation lap was a disaster. First Dan ran off the track and gifted me a position, then Jeff's car froze in the middle of the track and collected TT and his car was badly damaged.

At the start of the race I managed to follow Busi and pass SBG. I gave chase as best as I could but could do nothing but watch Busi edge away.

Busi had a little spin and that was me ahead of him too.

Soon I was making yet more mistakes fighting my ill handling car and that allowed Busi to get ahead of me again.

For the next while I was left on my own before getting close to madd-ripp for a few laps.

Suddenly my car lost all grip and SBG was right on my tail attempting to pass. Just managed to hold him off.

I did not enjoy that one bit as the car was so horrible to drive. All things considered I'm happy with 4th,

Grats Jeff, Busi and Madd

The guilty party........25 second penalty!! :D It did catch me out tbh, I went through your car and I did slide a bit but I was luckier than TT.

I tried to harass you for a bit but to no avail and tbh a pb in quali meant I was driving my Ass off to keep the pace.

Busi and myself had a good scrap for many laps, with an amazing replay moment going down to Eau Rouge and at the end of the Kessel straight...twice! He eventually got me though, way better under braking and cornering so just tried to keep 3rd spot.

Brian also gave me a lot of pressure but I just managed to hold him off, Damn the Lister is a wheeze to drive!

Chuffed to bits to have got 3rd!  ;D

Good race again...enjoyed that one.

Quallied with a pb...1/2 a sec quicker than I had gone before...so pretty content with 8th on the grid.

Made two places on the warmup lap... :(...so Unlucky TT and Dan.

Dan got past easily on the first flying lap when I had a semi-spin on cold rubber...chased him for a few laps but he was always extending away so I contented myself with trying to ensure I didn't fall any further down the order. Was holding a pretty steady gap to Dave behind....when I saw Dan in the sand and nipped passed back upto 6th. I was a little concerned though as my tyres were fading rapidly and the last thing I wanted was pressure from behind, but I think Dans tyres were worse and I managed to open a slight gap.

Had fun with Dave on the last couple of laps....that nearly turned into disaster  :o

I slowed a fair bit to try and ensure my position, but I think Dave smelt blood and he started closing a little too quickly for comfort. But half way round the last lap, I realised he wouldnt get me so cruised a bit to the line...teasing him.....Little did I realise that it WASN'T the last lap....we still had one to go as I had seen the time had run out...but obviously I hadn't been lapped so had to go again...under imense pressure from Dave this time for the whole lap.  :sweatdrop: Managed to hold him off though....just.  :-*

Grats podiummies.

Sounds like I got overtaken a lot in dispatches  :) Shame about start as those on my pace, including TT and maybe Dan, bit the dust way to early.

The massa felt awful in pracci session pre race and a phone call just before kick off made me wonder if it was worth it but glad I gave it a go. Oddly the car was very consistent in race (very odd in my experience) and I was pleasantly surprised to hang onto Madd, Busi and Brian the whole race long. The brakes on the Lambo  :o and Brians extra grunt made it difficult to challenge them seriously but good fun that  :)

Congrats to the podium.

That went about as well as expected. Didn't at all have all the stuff setup right after my OS reinstall, was having to go out to the Logitech Profilers and TeamSpeak and so on and when I got a couple of laps in in qually my setup felt absolutely atrocious. Couldn't really do much with it for the race as I didn't have time with all the fiddling. Had a fun scrap with my team mates Picnic and Prof in the first third of the race. After I got clear of them, I just couldn't make the F550 go any faster, it was truely awful in the corners and under braking having set the duct too high, not sorting out the suspension it was the most understeery thing ever.

Still, top 10, not bad.

A bit lucky there gaining through the misfortune of others.

Squeezed past Nsfast and got overtaken by a much faster Shark on the uphill straight.
Watched Picnic looming ever larger in the mirrors wandering how hard to fight (as if I had the choice  :D) when he made a mistake at the hairpin giving me a good gap.
Concentrated really hard to the finish not daring to look at fuel, tyre data. Forty minutes flew by.

Happy with much higher than usual finish and well done to the Pods.

Enjoyed that, seemed like I was slowly gaining on the guys infront, though probably due to them fighting, and was managing to hold off the guys who had rejoined behind me, evert etc with a comfortable gap. Realised i hadn't quite filled it righr so though i was catching Picnic on the last lap i had to push it around on fumes when MJ suddenly caught me up into the chicane, at the same time i got massive slowdown to 50-60fps from the usual 100+ but crossed the line with 0 fuel, Few ;D

It's official, Jeff's car lagged. You have been given a 25 second penalty. Me wins. Me rules ;D

On a side note, your laptimes from lap 4 to lap 14 were all faster than my fastest lap. Even happier with 2nd now LOL

had a disaster of a race unfortunately and for once the maserati felt pretty good after all the tinkering i did to it in practise. Tyre temps were good, grip was pretty good and it was mega on the brakes. I was able to brake so much later and deeper into corners than the vettes that i had dramas trying to avoid them and ended up spinning a couple of times  :'( Lost loads of time with 2 particular spins and so despite getting past a few guys, i ended up back down the order each time.
I seemed to spend my whole race behind one vette or another but as soon as i stepped out of their tow i couldnt get past the damn things up the straights and then be all over them again in the corners.

I really need to practise 'racing' other cars with the gt1s as opposed to single car, no-traffic practise as its a shock to the system when suddenly fighting other various GT cars in the race proper. Just not got enough seat time in them.

One of my favourite tracks so disapointed to finish a lousy 12th.  :(

That was pretty good - was lucky in that the way the grid formed up I was able to open up a gap over the car behind during the opening few laps and concentrate on the cars ahead; once Shark had cleared the pack behind I really had to squeeze as much as I could out of the Lambo in the middle sector where it shines to avoid him making up time on the straights, and with 5 minutes to go I was satisfied he wasn't going to catch me.

Then I was suddenyl catching Pseueueuedo ahead, so I threw any remaining caution to the wind in order to try and force a mistake - nearly got one in the final corner of the final lap and with hindsight I wish I simply gone for the out braking manouever, but happy with 7th place and a virtually mistake-free performance (I ran too far left in Eau Rouge once and got a cut warning).

A decent race for me last night. My race pace was steady but slow compared to others...I was carrying way too much fuel for this one.

Had some good battles throughout, mainly with cars trying and eventually overtaking me!

My race was finally ended with a silly stop/go for cutting at Eau Rouge near the end. By the time I returned from the pits I was running at the back.

Me too - I finished with something like 20 litres left, but always better to be carrying a little too much than a little to little?

Wasn't really surprising with your calculations: 2L a minute, plus 10 litres spare and then something more because it's Spa  .

Easier to do 40 minutes x 60 seconds = 2400 seconds/laptime (131 seconds)= 18,3 laps x 4,7L a lap = something like 87L IIRC. Taking the looong formation lap into account, I was very generous with my 95 L :P.

I still never trust my calculations ;D

;D

My calculation was done on a similar basis

Hopefully I can work it out better for the endurance race!
