I've yet to try the 575 here. It's been a while since I raced here but my old times in the lambo look ok. I did consider changing back to the lambo at spa, but just got on with it a suffered with a horrible car in the 575. Not sure what made me pick it at the start of season.       With one eye looking towards the title I'd still rather win it fair and square than chop and change my car to suit the tracks. So I'm going to ignore my desire to drop the 575 for the lambo and try to win it fairly, if you can do such thing in a Ferrari?

I'm gonna attempt to drive the Listerine round here (gargle gargle).  Seems a good track even if I'm not that quick, it's taking a while to get back into GTR2 after a few weeks off.

I'm starting to like this circuit, its got a bit of everything including a horrible chicane, yuck, which will clearly be the centre of all accidents. Though my time around here isnt as good as i hoped it would be looking at those times, best time so far is 1.36.5 in timetrial mode. Lonely race for me then :(

sure you will slip comfortably back into the top 3 Zac  ;)

i managed to burn four fingers and the palm of my left hand last night on a scalding hot saucepan handle...that i didnt know had just come off the hob. Deliberate sabotage attempt by the missus to circumvent my racing i reckon  :shifty:
(i was only moving it, not cooking before anyone makes a comment  ;D)

I'll still be racing though like a true hero eheh  :cowboy:
Some excellent Norwegian mountaineers cream worked wonders on the blistered skin and i'll drive thru the pain barrier  ;)

ps..and like ginsters im also driving with man-flu this eve.

right thats my pre race excuses sorted  :whistling:

He was only getting a beer out of the fridge  ;D

A man comes home from an exhausting day at work, plops down on the couch in front of the television, and tells his wife, "Get me a beer before it starts."

The wife sighs and gets him a beer. Fifteen minutes later, he says, "Get me another beer before it starts."

She looks cross, but fetches another beer and slams it down next to him. He finishes that beer and a few minutes later says, "Quick, get me another beer, it's going to start any minute."

The wife is furious. She yells at him "Is that all you're going to do tonight? Drink beer and sit in front of that TV? You're nothing but a lazy, drunken, fat slob, and furthermore ..."

The man sighs and says, "It's started ..."   ;D

I've been away for the last few days and not even had the chance to look at the track yet. I'm working late so will get back shortly before practice starts.    Not forgetting Celtic play tonight too. I will need to drive with one eye on the tv.

Possibly. When Celtic play away from home in Europe it's usually hiding behind the couch that is required. Still the bad luck has to end sometime soon.

I must admit, I do not like this circuit at all! especially the micky mouse hair pin/chicane towards the end.

I am going to sit this one out in GT1.

Its just about bearable in a GT2 car. :-\

Catalogue of woes tonight from us all it seems...my PC locked solid and it took me ages to close GTR2, I'm really sorry if my car was stuck on track and spoilt anyone's race, usually a screen freeze unfreezes a few seconds later so I waited a bit hoping to carry on from wherever the car was.  :-[

Shame, first UKGTR race in ages I've actually felt able to drive the car and keep it on the track.  Bet you were waiting for my inevitable spin, Dave.  ;D  I might not actually have done it tonight.  After a slow start was getting comfortable and starting to close down MJ.

Such is life.  Roll on next week. :)

dammit, internet/game problems here too..i think.

Was enjoying my race, running in 8th whole time until 1 slip at mid race allowed DG past me. Fended off a couple of challenges by Evert and had a good several second lead over following pack but then started to get massive stutters and judders/low fps.  >:( I just couldnt even make out the kerbs or corner lines and started going off left right and centre. Saw a couple of cars approaching and just had to pull off and quit. Bloody annoying. This is the second race in a row.

I checked my ISP and noise levels and nothing wrong my end. Im wondering if again someones got the FIA mod pack version of srouk running ? as was noticing these stutters throughout the sessions, except milder.

Any ideas?
grrr. :(

Not a good one for me again. I realised again that I simply can't drive the 575. It seemed to be nice the first few tracks, but since then I can barely get it to go around corners.

After a little practice I knew I was in trouble for tonight.

Qualified 4th.

The start of the race I thought I was a good bit quicker than Gazza and Reignman but could not get passed. As their tyres came up to heat they were quicker than me.

I had a few goes at Gazza and a few at Reignman but none I could safely pull off. I could not make use of the slipstream as I could not take the last two corners. I must have lost a minimum 0.5 second and was too far behind come the straight.

I tried and tried to get somewhere but always knew SBG were close behind. Last lap 2 bends to go I had a wobble and SBG shot passed.

There was some nice racing tonight with Gazza, Reignman and SBG.

Grats Busi on the win and Gazza and Reignman on podium.

I love this track, but having only played iRacing for the past 2-3 weeks it was quite a challenge driving GTR2 again. Car felt sooo alien that I opted to use a Gregor Huttu setup which also felt very alien (but in a different way) :o. At least the car sort of felt like it would vaguely contemplate going round a corner which it didn't before.

Took me about 36 minutes of the 40 minute race to remember how to drive GTR2 :D, at which point I put my fastest lap in and wished I hadn't used GH's setup as it was so difficult to put the power down. ;D

I think I might have to actually try GTR2 before the next race otherwise it's just not going to work again and I won't enjoy it very much. This game is just so alien now.

Think I finished 9th in the end, mostly from other people's mistakes or misfortunes.

Tough stuff that :)

Spent the whole race worrying about TT and Zak hovering in the background whilst trying to hang onto Brian up front. Finally, after 30 minutes  :), I managed to gap Zak a little and concentrated solely on catching Brian who was being held up a tad by a defensive RM whose tyres were shot. About equal in pace with them and quicker in final turn, especially the exit, but they managed to pull a gap through that ruddy chicane every time so passing was never an option. Getting frustrated and just about settling for fifth when Brian made a slip through the chicane (serves you right for being so fast there  ;)) and I slipped through.

Top stuff, as usual, with TT, Brian, RM and Zak (welcome aboard  :)). Congrats to Busi and Gazza.

Also worth mentioning that it was a nice mix of makes through the field. Nice work DM :)

Looks like psuedo not racing brought some good luck to pseudo team LOL

Perfect race for me, no doubt my earlier practice helped. Great pole lap and I started on medium tyres which were very fast at the beginning of the 40 minute stint. After 5 laps I'd put 8 seconds on Reign Man in 2nd, from then on I took it a bit easier and maintained a 10-second gap till the end of the race.

Special mention to my scary moment finding Steve's frozen car at the final part of the final corner, went off but didn't lose more than 2 seconds :)

Cheers everybody, Sunday's endurance will be great :)

It was fine offline last night, the stupid xp update happened about half hour before this eves race.

any suggestions? Do i need to reinstall my nvidia drivers? (card is a 9800gtx).

Good race today guys, much enjoyed,

Firstly Grazts to Busi on a good win.

My qually was not as good as I'd of liked it to be. just couldn't get a clean lap together. every time I was up on my splits someone would join or leave the server and i'd pause briefly and mistime my braking point or something similar lol! - then I left it too late and just pushed too hard.

Anwyay race pace went pretty well under he circumstances learning of this event from busi late last night..... I did my lil praccy sessions (such as they were) sessions in a lambo.. and decided to take the MC12 at last min.. maybe a mistake..maybe not. but I manged to keep up the sharp end tailing a few guys from the start.. pushing and pushing  to not loose sight.

Unfortunately for TT he span and I took his place. and although I could see him pushing behind me it was far too late in the race for his worn tires (guessing here?) - and he lost it on 2nd to last lap...unlucky mate. I saw you struggling with the S7 tonight. but you still managed good pace and were hard to follow :)

Gratz to all finishers. bring on the sunday race now!

You got it right, buddy. Worn tyres were my trouble last night.  :(  Even thought I could do something there as there was a train (RM, Kerr, sbg, TT, Zak) of us all in place for that 3rd place. Tyres started to go right after half, I was losing contact with sbg and Zak was close the whole time. My weak point was The chicane where I lost it three times. One recovery in time, one lost place to Zac who lost it on braking into T1 and I gained the place back and finaly I lost it the third time, Zac got through and I was unable to get the place back. I don't count the final half spin, that was just the cherry on a cake. :D  Good driving there, buddy Zac, seems like we can have close racing without taking eachother out.  :)  Looking forward to future events.  8)

Seems like I had too much wing and was destroying tyres in the long last curve. Funny, on other places it seemed not enough.  :-\  Difficult track to set the car but otherwise enjoyable to drive. Except The chicane.

Too bad for Steve and MJ with their ISP problems.  :(

TT

It scared the herring out of me but luckily I was able to duck inside it and call it back to Shark and Prof on TeamSpeak.

Bet you were waiting for my inevitable spin, Dave.  ;D  I might not actually have done it tonight.

I knew it was going to be hard with Listers ahead and behind - as expected, Evert slipped by early on, although it wasn't in the draft, it was my overestimation of your braking prowess in T1. Then I got back past and started to pull away a little; got past MJ after a mistake but thought he would close me down again and breeze past, so I was pushing perhaps a little too hard and mullered my left front, which meant that Shark was closing on me rather quickly :o at the end. Slowed down out of the last corner and we stage managed a formation finish.

Hope some tech wizzards here will have a look at your probs as well .

i forgot, for those who want to experiment with mods, skins etc.just have a clean sim.org version running and make 1 or 2 extra GTR
versions to try things out with.

Good fun that!
Mt raceseat arrived yesterday afternoon and after 1.5 hours putting it together, I was ready to go by about 8pm!
Unfortunately had no set up and no practice so would not normally have joined but wanted to have a go ahead of the endurance at the weekend!
Managed a 1.42 in quali in my first 10 laps of the track, fast enough to not potentially spoil others races! Legzy came up with a set up at the last minute and off we went!
Had a good race with team mate Legzy and JPV, for 15th! Managed 1.38's in the race so am pleased with that as a start!
Must get lots more practice in before Sunday! :)

Seat is excellent, although I'm not sure I am any quicker !  ;D

A Google search reported a handful of people reporting FPS drop after installing SP3 but not a great deal about it. I'll just have to install the latest nvid drivers and hope they cure it. Really annoying after i had got the look just how i wanted it over several weeks of tinkering.
Im getting as low as 12fps which means sp3 seriously fooked my graphics settings somehow and considering my spec  >:(

I ran SP3 for ages before I moved to Vista 64 without a problem and I doubt it's the SP itself. Something else running in the background or a configuration change, e.g. is your hard disk light flashing all the time whilst playing. It's possibly screwed up your driver configuration, re-run the 3DConfig of GTR2 first. Check the Nvidia control panel settings are what you expect.

Very difficult to diagnose without seeing the PC and looking at what's running or not and what's configured in what way etc. So many possibilities to list.

I've mentioned this before but as I think it's ace then ...

'Game profile'! do a search on this forum, free to download utilty which suspends all unwanted processes before you go online.
Will NOT help your frame rates! but might cut down the possible causes!?
Especially with the numerous problems with connectivity that various people have experienced?

Just a thought?

thanks for replies, but as i mentioned, its not just online, its now fooked offline. Was fine before SP3 install earlier in evening. (although having said that, i did have similar problem occur at Nogaro last week   :-\..but had run plenty of laps between then and now with no probs)

I keep my HD defragged weekly with Diskeeper and generally have background tasks switched off.

I'll just have to go through the boring task of removing and reinstalling my gfx drivers.  :(

That was a tough race, qaullied 3rd which shocked me coz on that lap i was running out of fuel and was spluttering across the line so i should be able to go a little faster.

Start of race went ok but i thought Brian would be all over me from the off but somehow managed to keep him at bay. Couldnt really catch RM the gap was at 1 sec nearly every lap until he spun and i took 2nd. Just tried to drive smooth as tyres were an issue but had one very scary moment when Steve Holmes car was stuck right on the exit of the last turn and i drove through it lol, that almost aloud RM and Brian to catch me as my car felt really odd for a couple of laps after hitting that stationry car, felt like i had damage and couldnt turn in as normal but it kind of cleared itself.

Last 10 mins was hard as tyres were shot and was sliding around alot but seems everyone else had similar thing so just drove steady to get a good 2nd.

Grats Busi and RM

Finally got a good run during qualifying and managed to get into the 36's but that still meant i was towards the rear of the field. I'd been suffering with my accelerator pedal giving an erratic response when trying to run with a constant level and i felt like it just got worse during the race. I couldnt get anywhere near my qualy time, and the accel felt like it was on/ off switch. Just as Prof was creeping closer after the first corner it felt like the car died, a repress of the pedal seemed to kick it back into life but it was too late, then it was a case of just trying to keep it on the track with out spining the rear wheels out of the corners. Maybe it was just the track but it was the first time the fronts were wearing more than the rears.

Luckily i had just got the newer hallmag pots for my pedals so started fitting them straight after. Hopefully i'll get them ready for thursday.

I read somewhere that GTR2 would not work on Vista 64, only on Vista 32.

Even GTL works on Vista 64, but you do have to follow instructions from RSC to do it and still use copy protection.

Personally I use the NoCD cracks for both games so it's not a problem what-so-ever (the problem is only caused in the first place by the StarForce drivers).

Thanks Freq/Shark
I was thinking about upgrading to Vista early next year, nice to know I now have the 64bit version as an option, and still be able to play GTR2.

Dittto! sounds good to me, and Photoshop CS4 to be released soon supports 64bit and uses all available resources, graphics cards for processing too!?
For those interested! probably need a new thread for this!

I would warn you though if you want to use Vista 64 to make sure you have 3Gb+ RAM. 2Gb is not enough for 64 bit Vista. I upgraded to 8Gb cause 2Gb wasn't getting the job done with the OS taking nearly 1.5Gb on it's own. Vista 32 uses far less memory I'm told.

I think i sorted my probs out. I installed the latest Nvidia 178.13 WHQL drivers, after removing the old ones. Ran 'driver-sweeper' too and found old traces of NVidia (and ATI ..despite never even owning an ATI card !) and ran Disk-Keeper a couple of times afterwards as SP3 had fragged my system and game files all over the shop...cant think why i got bad stutters during the race  ::)

Then installed Riva tuner for first time to do some gfx tweaking and overclocking.

All appears to be sweet and merry now...so far!  8)
