Yes, it's the short course we don't use very often.

Tested 5 new cars so far, here we go:

All laptimes are on a 20 minute race setup

Vertigo: 1:01.7 - Very loud engine sound, too loud actually. I was testing another car and I could hear TT's Vertigo even if it was on the opposite part of the circuit lol
Spyker: 1:01.8 - 5 gears, slides all the way ;D
BMW Z4: 1:00.9 - By far the fastest of the 5 cars I've tested, seems easy to drive
Exige: 1:01.9 - overheats tyres... just like the Elise ;D
DBRS9: 1:02.5 - needs more speed

I'll be on the server later around 5ish I guess

1:02.0 in 997 cup car for me. (did most laps and setup work in)
1:02.5 in the F430, feels pretty good and fast but braking can be tricky sometimes with the rear always wanting to come around. Only did about 10 laps.
1:02.4 in the Z4 though sure i can go quicker with it, just didnt do enough laps.
1:03.3 in the spyker.

Not sure which car i want to take for the upcoming season in the GTC class. Normally would be the 997 but also love the sound of that snarling Fezza, just the cockpit lets it down. The z4 is tasty too, and the spyker though trickier handling. Would be fun for me to take the porsche against all other car brands though as still never done a season with the cup car and would enjoy some good fierce rivalry with the BMWs and Fezzas in this closer racing series. The 997cup looks suspiciously like a 996 to me though  ;)

Not tried aston or exige yet.

Nice series of cars.

Two questions if I may:
1) Is there some way to unlock all the GTR2 tracks? I can't practice this track offline due to it being 'locked'.
2) Lagging is so bad on the practice server, you never know if you're seeing another driver or his ghost. Can anything be done to improve it? There's no way we could have a race like that.

Cheers :)

yeah lagging is really bad on the srouk oschers server for some reason. Was the same yesterday and all of us are suffering/seeing it so not down to anyones individual setup. The warping is the worst i have seen online.  ??? Does it need restarting ?

Tried to join earlier with MJ and someone else on but it was really bad, Never had it like this before. Was starting to think about missing the race if it was me causing it.

Strange how your on it both times its happened to me MJ ;) Does seem everyone is seeing it, could the P&G mod be affecting things on the server?

I dont understand, i'm starting to enjoy this! With the large variety of cars now, and with some decent setups I'm now looking forward to next season. I'd like to do every class now ;D

I'll be in the porsche again for this. Best so far is a 1.02.8 even if the soft fronts seem to complain. Not sure where that 1.02.4 came from in the 430 and that was with around 30-40L onboard. The Z4 will be miles ahead, not sure the dunlops will have an equalising effect in the 20 mins.

I think the way of doing it is:

- Go to your GTR2 folder and create a new notepad file there
- Don't write anything on it but save it with the name SDNDTG.DYN
- Ready? I think so

Hehe :D

I intend to use the Viper GTC for the first race. That is the car that I have put most work into setting up. Mid 1.02 in the Viper at the moment.

I thought I would use the Z4 for the second race. I got a high 1.01 with my setup in the Z4. What car(s) are you planning on taking TT?

Does anyone want my Viper setup?

See you later :)

If I am able to keep up in the first race, then maybe I will take the Viper in the second race as well.

But I do have to get some kind of redemption for crashing into the pit wall from the lead at Monza. Especially now that people have started to say 'I did a H@L', when they crash (thanks Ruskus) :P

Nice work on the cars, Psuedo and his helper Elves :)  Viper GTC, rock on  :punk:

Best Christmas present of the season ;D

More laptimes for me in 20 min setup:

Vertigo: 1:01.7
Spyker: 1:01.8
BMW Z4: 1:00.9
Exige: 1:01.9
DBRS9: 1:02.5
------------------
Viper GTC: 1:01.9
TVR: 1:01.9
Porsche 997: 1:01.3 - amazing fast corner speed for a GTC :o

As only the Aliens have been posting the times... I'm not embarrassed  ;)
I can do a low 1:03 for all the cars (except DBRS9 which is a 1:05 & the Spyker is a 1:04).

So I think you've done a cracking job of balancing the cars already.

phew that was fast, frantic and furious !!  :o

Not sure if a good track to test the various merits of the cars as you spend most of race in a train of close fighting cars  :-\

Nice spread of cars tonight though, so will make a great series if so many car variations chosen  8)

That Z4s external engine sounds need reducing in volume, you cannot hear your own or anyone elses engines or gearbox when that is anywhere near you on track, really disorientating. Thought it was the vertigo at first but think its the z4. Probably a value in the .aud file needs reducing.

Z4's pinched 4 of top 5 laptimes in race 1, dont know if that a pointing factor, along with guys like Busi saying its the fastest he's tested.  :-\
Need more races on a variety of tracks to find that out i guess.

Cars all look great and seem well matched.  :)

That was quite good fun, much better than the nasty GT1 cars. Managed to download the car pack at 850k/sec with about 30 seconds to go, installed it, jumped in the server, selected a car as fast as possible and there I was. No idea what car i was in or track and plonked on the grid in 6th in the BMW Z4M apparently. Despite Gizmo saying it was Oschers B over team speak on the start line having driven it only once before I forgot that they cut half the circuit off so missed that sharp right hander on the first lap. Only caught me that once and I ended up finishing 2nd! Bizarre!

Went and got the Spyker for round 2 and trying it in practice, was a lot slower than BMW, but ooodles of fun. Was so lairy was fab. Loads of grunt and powersliding was superb. Went to grid and nobody joined me. Was on my own and wondering what was happening only to be told on TeamSpeak that everyone had piled in to my non-moving car. Sorry about that, but I had no cars and no lights. I ESC and rejoined a lap down but server wasn't registering my lap times so no idea whether anyone could see me either I decided to pull off and retire.

I'd once again forgotten how much better the racing fun factor is here compared to iRacing, so I hope the season starts soon as I want to join the fun of at least GTCs and Power and Glory. ;D

Ditto the above  ::)

Thats the first time I have connected my wheel since the last race here.

Jumped in the vertigo for race1 but didnt check my setup too well and blew the engine after 3 laps.  8)

Took a Spyker for 2...although I had only ever watch the AI drive it before. Twas fun, till I hit a wall.  ::)

Hopefully I will get chance to get some praccy in b4 the season starts.

Server has restarted to Monza Jnr.

I know. ;) And some others.

Results and replay now up.

First race I somehow lost my setup changes from pre-race practice and ended up with a car which was 2 seconds a lap off the pace.

Second race I was trying to tell you to escape off the grid Shark but you weren't listening. Promptly piled into the queue behind it, bending the steering, and had to spend two laps in the pits while they fixed it. >:( At least I had my setup changes and was able to put in slightly more competitive lap times, although the Aston is massively down on straight line speed compared to the others and also drinks fuel almost as fast as the GT1 version. ::)

There's clearly some additional balancing required but I didn't think the differences were too excessive. I'll try and schedule more races starting Tuesday and mix up the twisty and the fast tracks.

As I had said, the one with such a loud external (and incar!) engine sound is the Vertigo, I could barely hear my engineer!

First race was really funny, battling hard with many cars ahead and behind all the time. I had an added difficulty because with my engine sound I couldn't hear were the others behind were, something I pretty much use, so sorry if I was a bit unpredictable, I think MJ even tapped me once (with no consequences :) )

Just before 2nd race suddenly I had a problem with graphics, they all turned strange just as if a visual effect had been added. Left the server but still problems. Went to desktop and back in to see it was working fine after that but I was not in time to join the race :(

Good stuff. No, GREAT stuff! 8)  Frantic, tense and enjoyable sprint. Started from the back both times and had a lot of fun clawing up the ladder. Numerous fights in both races, lots of smoke everywhere. ;D  Had a blast with API in the second race, Spyker and fezza are really well balanced, was great.

Monza Junior was funny. Unprepared setup, strapped on OschersB setup with a bit lower wing and let fly. Funny was when I lost my splitter in the second half of the race and the car was faster then.  :P

Next?  :)

had a quick look at the .aud files for the z4 and the vertigo. all the sound figures have been ramped up so guess thats why they are so loud. Backfire and stutters are higher, also 'min engine volume' setting.

A little request:- Can the mod pack creators also rename the .aud files for the 997cup cars to '997cup' instead of 997RSR please, (means 1 line in the .car file needs changing to suit too) as i create my own improved soundpacks for the porsches and its very confusing having same sound files as for the 997RSR and i dont want to over-write anything as takes a lot of time to create.

ps..if any Porsche drivers want my improved sounds, just pm me and i will email them to you. Dan Minton and JPS already have my 997RSR sounds and both like them over the stock versions. I have now done the 997 cup car also. I am quite chuffed with them, much more meaty and racey flavoured flat six sounds  :) I didnt create the actual .wav files but have assembled the best from various porsche sound packs over the last couple of years and put them together, editing the sound and config files to suit.

ps... is there a reason the 997 cup has been put on Pirellis ?  The cup cars use Michelin Pilot sports in the real world.  Theres also the 'Porsche Michelin Supercup' championship as a slight clue  ;)

and this from Porsches website:-

"Porsche and Michelin look back on a longstanding and extraordinarily successful cooperation. Together, they won the famous Le mans 24 Hours - last evidence for common achievements with the GT1 in 1998. Currently, Michelin supplies racing tires for the 911 GT3 Cup cars in Porsche Michelin Supercup and the worldwide Porsche Carrera Cups, for the 911 GT3 RSR’s in the ALMS and the FIA GT championship as well as for the Porsche sports cars in Porsche Sports Cup."

Was there a post announcing the proposed changes to GTC? It all looks very different to when I last raced - is there a list of the tweaks to the cars?

It's in the README for the pack itself...

That's how it came to me, and probably how it was delivered to Psuedo too. The 997 Cup was a bit of a mess, hence little things like the misleading AUD file naming.

OK, thx - I don't have it yet. I only asked as in the past you normally discussed what you were proposing to do and why.

This is all new cars - Pseudo and his elves have already done some balancing but Season 8.9 is all about probing the depths of the new cars and seeing what's what.

Really enjoyed that last night. Car of choice would be the Z4 as it feels like it's on rails, but I knew it would be popular so...

1st race was in the F430GTC (a very nice 2nd choice 8)). I found myself in 5th by the end of lap 1, after others misfortunes & then did my best to stay as high up the field as I could. Hung on to 8th, inches ahead of Spanner in a most enjoyable race. Also managed to knock 0.5 secs of my PB during the race with a 1:02.8 :)

2nd race, I saw nobody was in the Lotus so I thought I'd give it a go (so some performance info could be noted) having not been too bad when I'd tried it out before. Found it a bit lacking in grip surprisingly (& yet twitchy) at the corners & lacked a little umph on the straights. Having not spun the F430 even once, I was most disappointed to find myself doing spirals in this Lotus on about 4 occasions! >:(

I see the next races are up... looking forward to getting back in these cars again already! ;D

p.s. Congrats to Team Oldie's Lazlow on your 1st win  :w00t: (We don't get many lol)

I think the short races and the short narrow track made it completely manic, but really enjoyable

highlights include going around the outside of people in the hairpin, getting undertaken by someone in the Z4(Jorgen?) at the same moment getting overtaken by TT into the final corner. Not sure how i stayed on. Then Lazow diving down the inside again at the last corner but before hitting each other all other cars disappeared for a second then reappeared.

It obvious from the livery that the porka isnt a real GT3 cup car from the official races. I guess it must be Spa 24h car as it has the proximus sponsorship. Did think the pirelli's were a means of balancing.

Sorry to bother you Admins... but any chance of adding Estoril to the server please? I just cycled through the tracks available & it's not there currently. Cheers  :)

Great couple of races :)

Lots of battles in both races. I did spoon it on the the first corner of the first race though, sorry to anyone that I messed up there :-\

It was lots of fun but, I was left wanting more at the end ;D

I got got a CTD in the MonzaJr race :'(

Team Psuedo 1, 2 in the second race! Awesome :)

Well done Gazza who I think came from the absolute back of the field. ;D
