Hmm.. new Vertigo doesn't really go, finally managed to get a 47.6 after some trying but first lap out in the 430 to try it and did a 47.3!
Might be just me but it doesn't seem to like revving, power seems to die before reaching upper revs.

your way off the pace if your doing 47's spanner. Im in the 37/38 range with race fuel onboard in the 997.

Oh! ???  Yeah ok 37, 47 its an easy mistake!

I tend not to be concentrating on bigger numbers just the 10ths so when it comes to remembering times when posting i may be a bit off!

Never got comfortable trying to brake in the vertigo, all or nothing it seems so i'm locking up everywhere. Probably just take a standard 996RS as its for 80mins.

Mid 1.36 Race pace in the Viper GTC, dam I love that car ;D

I am however expecting to take on rather a large amount of fuel in the pit stop. Possibly as much as 50L more fuel than I would in the Z4. Not sure how it compares to the other cars.

Anyone else considering the Viper, do NOT set the rev limit on max if you are using manual clutch. The engine will not make it, but that is the way it should be in a Viper ;D If you just put the rev limit one setting lower than max you should be ok.

See you later :)

After too many mistakes from being knackered after a busy weekend, i thought i'd rather use the rest of the time to rest!

Brilliant first 20 mins or so battling with Busi and H@L and Prof and Legzy in the mix somewhere but H@L pulled away too much but TT was making mistakes and dropped back and managed to get by but was pitting. Decided to change just the fronts and add in 50L but i think leaving the rears certainly wasnt that good a move as i was gradually losing the rears too much. Was running 7th at the time and would hopefully have finished there as there was quite a gap around me.

The soft fronts and hard rears worked brilliantly all through the race, sometimes catching people on the brakes rather alarmingly!

 :-[ Seriously embarrased.
Was it wet by the way? I saw nothing, was all over the place on the warm up lap!
I think I took sooo long in the pits setting stuff, that the AI took over
Simon got past ok, but then the blasted compunter starts fighting with HAL
as he's trying to lap. Sorry HAL, anything you were saying to the screen was nothing
to my rantings NOOOOOOOOOO! stop ! move over you mindless heap of junk
Was desparately thumbing through the manual to see how I could regain control
When it starting bumping doors with HAL I just escaped out for safety
Damm that was anoying.

"I" apparently. Had it been a league race I would have dropped out immediately of
course, was hoping to get control back. I hit almost every key except I

That was great fun...very little practice for me before the race...but what a race..battled with DG on a regular basis..real close quarter combat 8) :fencing: but no contact..just good close racing.

There's something in the UKGTR rules about this - a change you can make to stop it happening.

I really enjoyed that; the Aston isn't quick but it's fairly easy to be consistent in. Had some good scraps early on with some of the other slower drivers, then a brilliant ding dong with JPS's 911 over the last few laps. I made my move but it was a lap too early; once I tipped my hand he just had to repass me on the loooong straight and then defend the same spot on the final lap.

Just what the doctor ordered after a really awful stint in iRacing this afternoon where a slower car took me out with a brake check.

Awesome race ;D

Sorry about the warm up lap :-[ I hit my ignition button instead of my pit limiter button. It took me a few seconds to realise what had happened :'(

Very, very sorry all. I should take a warning or something for that as it could have caused absolute chaos. Luckily Gazza and the people behind kept moving to prevent the Field from stopping completely.

Many, many battles :) I need to check the replay to get all the names :sweatdrop: But I do remember battling Busi, Gazza, Evert, Spanner, Simon, Legzy and TT. Great stuff, especially Gazza and TT :)

No worries phspok, I actually lost it and your car making contact set me straight. Not too much damage either :)

See you next time ;D

lol that was fun with that chaos at the start with H@L stopping, I just went right and ahead to avoid being hit. But looks like nobody got hit just some taps. Something really difficult to manage, well done all in that one ;D

I had really good fights with many cars, but my Gillet was just not fast enough and the cars that managed to pass me pulled away. I pitted early as I had quite worn front tyres and felt slicks were gonna be fast enough. And they were, I was already lapping 2 seconds faster when I exited the pits. But soon I put a wheel on the grass while braking for T1 and lost it big time. Decided to go and study for an exam I have this week lol

That was a triumph of strategy over raw speed for me, but fun nevertheless.

I struggled on hard, cold tyres in the early damp laps with my Z4 brimmed to 100 litres. My laptimes slowly picked up and I made up places as people pitted and ended up in the lead with less than ten minutes left praying for some rain so that everyone would have to stop again.  ;D

In the end my poorly executed 'splash and dash' put me down to sixth and I gained 5th on the last corner when I guess TT ran out of fuel.

Well done to fellow Sharks for finishing well above qually positions.

A stream of bad events led to this race will be in my memory the one to forget. Not 'cause of my lousy result, that's just a consequence of it all.  ::)
Had a stutter now and then in practice, and a freeze at the end of it. A complete picture freeze for about 6 or 7 seconds. FPS up this point were at about 60, same as usual. Had the same in quali but less. I was afraid to check 'cause of the Alt-Tab death. Don't think I was running anything in the background, as I restarted my PC prior to the race. Lost some time 'cause of it and qualified 10th, I think.

Came through pace lap havoc unscathed, though a bit confused.  :P  Had really bad graphics in the first lap after rolling start, cars completely disappeared and appeared again. I think I hit someone, but I'm not sure, had to see the replay. If I did, I apologize, though I didn't really see anything, just felt something like a contact through the wheel.  :-\

After two laps there was no more stuttering, so I guess it might have been something on my computer.  :(
Like H@l said, I also had many battles, this part was really enjoyable. Though I must say, I saw too many unnecessary contacts. :(  We touched with Evert and he let my by, he was a real gent.  :)

My greatest mistake was I thought it was going to be a more wet race. I made some last minute untested changes which is never a good idea. It took at least half a second per lap out of my dry laptime and more :P out of my wet laptime. That was really smart (insert Truetom smilie here).  ::)

Pitted at half, took some fuel, just to be sure. Irony itself, I was left out of fuel on the last corner. :P Just 1 freaking liter would be enough for 2nd place.  :hang:

Again I sincerely apologize to whom I hit at the beginning of the race.  :-[
TT

That explains it, I was trying an outside move on API I think, coming into the right hand hairpin (T7?) but suddenly he appeared spun in front of me, checking the replay I saw it was TT hitting him, so I guess he will understand it :)

Well I seriously enjoyed that 8)

Had some very good laps with a whole host of you all through the race. Had worked my way up to about tenth for the for the 1st fifteen mins & was pleasantly surprised at being held up by Spanner & someone else in-front of him (Prof maybe?). But just as I was making my move, I think Spanner must have caught the kerb a bit heavy on the inside of T2 or something & just twitched towards me or maybe it was a little block(?)... anyway, it was enough to make me panic (newbie error  ::)) & take myself onto the grass & spin it across the track... (not your fault mate, just one of those racing things & I've not spent enough time driving all over the back of people yet  :))... luckily we'd earned a 10 sec gap to the next car so others were able to avoid me. But by the time I managed to get round the right way again & it was save to rejoin, I was last again  :'(

I had faith that the Z4 would be able to propel me back up the field, so didn't panic & settled down to enjoy the chase. Gradually caught & picked people off. My favourite/best move was overtaking both Gizmo & JPS(?) at the same time under breaking to T1 for position. Now that's what racing is about  :ninja:... though it obviously would have taken quite some skill on their part (especially Dave's) to avoid contact with me once I'd commited... so if it was a dangerous move... it wasn't me :whistling:

Went on to enjoy the whole rest of the race as the pit stratagies played out, sitting in the slip of TT, Shark & H@L till the end, with I think just one other moment of visiting the grass when I missed a breaking point by a mere 100 yards ;D

Last night's race was a mixed bag for me, usual lack of preparation meant starting almost last and then it had to be wet at the start too  :-\ I simply put soft slicks on and let Dave by as soon as the race started. This gave me room to get a feel for the car and the conditions. After a couple of laps I caught Dave and while having someone glued to my rear (forget who sorry, API?) We did Dave either side but I cocked up the braking for the next corner. I guess it was wetter offline and trundled off in to the kitty litter. Then proceeded to drive like a muppet for a couple of laps going wide in a couple of places.

Eventually I settled down and caught up the tail enders again. Took a slightly late pitstop and gambled on the original 100L lasting. My pre-race calcs said I needed 108 so with the slower laps early on in the wet plus the pace/pit laps I crossed my fingers and just put a new set of softs on.

The second half of the race was then a lot more exciting, basically cos API chased me down and then was glued to my bumper for many a lap. He was obviously quicker over a lap but somehow my TVR was quick enough in the straights API couldn't get level. Great battle that ended when I realised that this hard driving was not helping my fuel usage. I let API passed, although I'm fairly sure that would have happened before the end anyway, and drove like a granny for 3 laps. Car coughing and spluttering as I just held off JPV and I crossed the line with 0.1L in the tank!

I have a lot to learn about stratagies. Have a decent first stint, though was slower than Simon and another Z4 and TT was catching too. Pitted. Wrong tyres. Too much fuel. Outlap, big collision with someone in a Vertigo. All my fault, got a kick off the kerbs after being on the grass. Sorry if I caused any damage. I picked up big bodywork damage, suspension damage, and a puncture. Was going to throw the towel in, but pitted and continued. Picked wrong tyres again!!!! Finished on wrecked inters.

One to forget.

very brief for me! but i do get the "Wooden Spoon" award!

practised offline for two hours, then managed 6th in quali being a lone 911 up amongst the dam Z4's! ;)

I saw it was damp for the race I thought inters and decided against them last min for slicks........thought i had loads of time but clicked 'Race' 1 second too late and missed the start.....real numpty  :stupid: :cursing:

grats H@L too, you've become really consistent and fast!  8) 8) 8)

Thanks mate ;D

Consistent apart from when I switch off the engine at the end of the warm up lap by mistake, crash into the pit wall on pit entrance, run out of fuel and choose the wrong tyres. But I am getting there :)

Sorry about that Legzy,I actually backed out of the move. I had a run on Prof but realised i was only level with him on the inside and as the racing line cuts right across the inside curb I didnt want to assume he was going to give me room as its not the corner to be running side by side through as there no room on the exit. I slowed trying to let Prof back ahead as i was slowly running out of room but obviously you had gained on us as well so tried to keep out of the way to the inside.

As compensation I then spent so long looking rearwards realising i caused it then trying to work out how far your'd gone that i messed up the chicane, locked up and nearly ended up in the sand. :(

lol, no worries.

I've really enjoyed this last few races. Being in Z4 which is obviously a little quicker then its competitors, has meant I've been a lot more involved in the races. I've been able to be right in the mix with loads of you (anyone not also driving a Z4  ;)), which has been great fun. Normal service will soon be resumed, when the cars have been equalled & I can watch you all drive into the distance. Wave as you lap me.

You're all a bunch of aliens & it's not fair  :taz:

In my best 'John Inman' voice.... "I'm slow"  :D

(for the youngsters out there, from Wikipedia: Inman developed a characteristic limp-wristed mincing walk,[3] and a high-pitched catch phrase, "I'm free!", which soon entered popular culture)

Very, very sorry all. I should take a warning or something for that as it could have caused absolute chaos. Luckily Gazza and the people behind kept moving to prevent the Field from stopping completely.

LOL, actually we all did come to a stop, some touching others in the confusion. I thought your car had frozen and the people ahead didn't seem to want to go by. Was mayhem I tell you, mayhem. ;D

Well done on your pace though, coming back after that awful start to win was a job well done.

Decided to take the F430, cobbled together a setup during practice and qually sessions and had a really enjoyable race battling with loads of people. There was some very competitive stuff with Evert (hope it wasn't "too" competitive, as we touched a couple of times in racing incidents) for a while then as the first half of the race went on I got faster and faster on my soft slicks eventually taking the lead before the pit stops.

I figured the Ferrari had reasonable fuel consumption so expected to be in a good position after the pits deciding to get a new pair of soft slicks again for the second stint as the tyre wear was ok. As the track dried and the car pace was the overwhelming factor, the Z4s and Hals Viper started getting faster than me and it seemed like it might be a losing battle against them after all that hard work overtaking them all in the damp conditions.

Still effectively in the lead in the second half (as others hadn't pitted yet), I came up to lap someone and as he let me through I hit a damp patch on the inside, locked the rears and spun right in front of him. Very sorry to scare you, it scared me too LOL! :) That lost me any chance of winning as the gap was suddenly reduced and the 430 was too slow to hold them off. Then as Hal overtook me into T1 for the lead we touched and I went off into the gravel which put me behind arch-nemesis TrueTom.

I then drove as fast as I could to catch TT and with a lap to go I could see he was either really struggling or had once again forgotten to pay his fuel bill. :P Wasn't sure which it was so when I got close I went for it. His car ran out of fuel on the last corner anyway, so I guess I could have waited. :)

The Ferrari 430 GTC is a really nice car to drive compared to the 360. It feels a little bit sluggish on acceleration and a bit on top end speed (I had 6 rear wing even in the wet!), but it handles nicely, is much more controllable on the brakes than the 360 is and it's the first new engine noise I actually loved. In the damp it was comfortable which is a good place to be. In the dry it was still comfortable but just lacked a little bit of bite, if you know what I mean.

Oh dear  :-[

Very, very, very sorry for that. It killed my FPS (and everyone else's probably) just at the point when the FPS would have been pushed to the limit without any contact.

I had switched the engine off when waiting for all the cars to join on the grid in an attempt to save the most amount of fuel possable. By the time I got the end of the pace lap I seem to have just reached for the last button I pressed without even thinking about it. ::)

I will not be switching off my engine while waiting on the grid in future ;D

Maybe I will label the button on my wheel :D
