1:43 for me in the C6 Vette so far.  :)

Might give the aston a go too. Anyone tried the new sounds for it over at No-grip yet?

I have a copy of GTR2 on its way to me through the post, I primarily bought so that I could install the P&G mod for GTL but after trying out the demo was surprised how much better it was than GTR - you can actually catch a slide in GTR2.  Are there any spaces available in the GTR championship?

Cheers

Paul

There's no registration, and the Sprint races are never quite full so Tuesday night's aren't a problem. We had a full server on Sunday night for the Endurance race so if you want to race then it might be more of an issue!

OK cheers, I'll try the sprint events once I've got it installed and had a bit of practice so that I won't make a complete tit of myself  ;)

Decent Quali and whilst formng on the grid..CONNECTION lOST WITH HOST :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz:

Its either my Cable internet connection or the SROU server is choking with these full grids we've been getting recently, guess the only option is to change to an ISDN server, gutted >:(

Well my PC completely crashed just on the right kink before the final chicane, on the last lap! Gopt a couple of flickers, saw I had gone off then nothing, no sound, no screen, nothing. I hope the car stopped with me, if not I hope I got in no ones way  :-\

ROFL.  This is what I saw...your car went at full pelt across the final chicane right through to the finish line where it punted Ade sky high yards before the line, promoting me another place. Poor old Ade, can't have seen that one coming and must have thought it was a conspiracy LOL. Had to laugh cause it was just so unbelievable to have happened there like that and then take Ade out just before the line.

Anyone that wants to help me out with a Ford GT setup would be appreciated. I can't drive it very well and setup seems totally lost on me in that car.

Brilliant scrap with Purdie early on, held him and Legzy up for nearly half the race before finally my need for traction overcame the ability of the rears to supply it.

Couldn't get any heat in the fronts so was having a devil of a time getting the car slowed down and turned in. Once into the corner it was okay. It's pretty clear that I've not translated the setup improvements I made in the GTC Aston into the GT1 car - think I still need more ride height. Reasonably pleased with not making any major mistakes though.

what a flipping frustrating disaster that turned out to be  :'(

Must have put in about 70 odd laps of practise at this place over last couple of days and thought i had my setup working pretty fine. But tonight i was greeted with understeer city with the car really struggling to turn in  ??? It felt like i was using a completely different setup  >:( My fronts stayed cold despite moving some brake bias forward to try and get some heat in them.

Race was in two halves. First half was good fun in a 3 way battle with Lazlow and Spanner. I was attacking Laz whilst he attacked Spanner ! Made for some great clean dicing for first 20 mins.  :fencing:
Laz finally got by spanner and i lined him up for a move but could not find a way past for a few laps more. Then inexpicably my race went totally pear shaped as i picked up 3 flaming cut warnings in as many laps and had to take a stop and go penalty.  :taz:
That effectively ended my race as i dropped from a battle for 10th down to 19th  :'(

The final straw came about 2 laps after i exited the pits when with one solitary run wide i got an instant stop and go !...what the heck?  ??? I pulled over in disgust and retired. The cut warnings were all ridiculous bar getting my braking wrong for one up at that hilltop chicane. I hadnt got any in all my practise.  >:(

Not sure if i enjoy GT1 really. I never seem to get a series of half decent results in this class no matter how much praccy i try and get in and think i would prefer more P&G time for myself. Will see.

Another good steady race for me. Tried holding off Lazlow but the inevitable happened, but a big sorry to MJ, I think i actually braked later than normal with Lazlows rear end so close misjudging it but i guessing the damage to your car was a bit serious as you seemed to drop back and looked like you were struggling a bit. Sorry mate, Was enjoying the dice and hoped it would last.

Qually was a bit hit and miss, few times i was a couple 5-7ths up but just couldnt carry it through in the last sector.

Only just managed to feel happy with the setup in the practise before the race, i can see the Aston not liking the twistier tracks.

Seems like something goes wrong when we go to race. Times were normal for me during practice and qual, then in race I lost my FFB in steering. Couldn't feel the car in wheel, felt like I was on ice. Hope to do better on Sunday.

Was a fun race! Had a few laps of practice and then during quali I had an important phone call so did a lap with the phone to my ear, hence 20th!  :P

VERY VERY SORRY to the guys behind me on the pace lap, eespecially Peter Allnut (picnic) who I tapped on the back, just lack of concentration and no excuse  ???  :-[ I wanted to say sorry on chat a lot!! Thank you for being patient with me.

Brilliant scrap with Purdie early on, held him and Legzy up for nearly half the race before finally my need for traction overcame the ability of the rears to supply it.

Was great fun Dave! :) Highlight of the race for me 8)! You looked like the car was suffering herrific understeer but because you were slow on the apex's I couldn't accelerate out of the corners any quicker than you. I had the ride height 5.5cms at the front and 8cms at the back to get some weight over the front, it definitely helped a little in that DBR9.

Got a stop/go the lap after and followed MJ's example with 2 more! Great car to drive though and will def get more serious with the GT1 Sprint  :D

My race went perfect and luckily with no PC problems. I was on holidays the last 5 days, i.e. I was drunk for 5 days and I'm still recovering. Back for the first laps in the game 2 hours before the race I thought my skills had been lost somewhere lol but I practiced quite a bit to have a solid race. A real shame teammate RR couldn't finish 2nd. Congrats to podium :)

Wow, great race ;D

Busi was way too fast for me in Qualy and the race. I got an early Pole with a lap that I thought no one would beat (silly me) Busi then beat my time by 4 10ths of a second and by more again on his last lap I think. I was not too bothered as i don't like the pressure of leading the warm up lap :D

I did however have a great battle with RoadRunner (by my standards). He was never more than 2.7 seconds behind for what must have been 25 to 30 mins of the race. I then made 2 mistakes on 2 laps in a row and that was all RR needed to get passed. I did my best to stay close so that I could jump on any opportunity. I tried really hard to pass and almost did it a few times but I was just not able in the end.

Then disaster! We approach 2 cars that are a lap down and are fighting. Me and RR are on the final lap. One of the cars spins and RR has no where to go. Very unfortunate racing incident. :(

Me and Gazza wanted to wait for you RR but I did not think it would be a good idea to hesitate as there were so many cars near by at the time. I was also not sure if you would be able to continue so I carried on to the end.

Thank goodness it was dry, see you all at the next one :)

No cut track warnings! Just 2 stop n go's Need I say more!

Frustrated as I was having some great battles with about 5 cars further down the field!
Seeing Simon spin at the chicane was my best memory !  ;D

I had a slow, albeit steady and solid race. Qualified 6th and after the first laps commotion I came to 5th place and kept it with Carl Hart close for the whole time. At the end, when Roadrunner had a puncture I planned to outdrag him on final straight but miscalculated and hit him while he was still in the chicane. Didn't want to overtake him then, it would look a bit sick in my view, so I stayed 5th.  :)

Bad luck for MJ and JPS.  >:(
Grats to podium. Too bad it was dry...  ;)

Qualy was a laugh. Joined the server just at the end of Practice & was straight into Qualy. Not ideal preparation & my laps were stuck on a high 1:48 till my very last lap completed in the last few seconds, saw me get a pleasing 1:46, meaning a rare spot ahead of team mate Blunder on the grid.  ;D

I was pleased to make a good start to the race, whilst listening to his encouragement "I'll just pass you when you spin off in two corners time"
Put in some good opening steady laps, making up a couple of positions. Then I had Dave in sights & started closing the gap, but Purdie was closing the gap on me too & we had a good few laps of me trying to get right on Dave but Purdie was able to attack me more. I ran a little wide & Purdie got through... then I was trying to make the gap back up & span out as I tried to get the power down too quickly coming out of the chicane at the top of the hill  ::) which cost me a couple of places (including Blunder :-[).

Then I seemed to be stuck to the back of Evert's car for the next ten laps. I felt I was quicker through a couple of places but just couldn't take advantage, then I tried forcing a move under braking on the Chicane before the home straight & made a mess of it, taping the inside of your rear end as you started your turn I think. Sorry about that :-[. I pulled over while he got himself sorted again & flashed him through, so we could start it all again  ;D We went at it for another lap but then he went wide & I was through... to chase down Dave again, sadly not enough laps remained to catch him & I'm sure Dave would again not have given up his position easily  ;)

Good race all, well done to podiums & finishers, unlucky to Blunder (next time buddy :fencing:)

Bit strange on the pace lap as i couldnt see any cars ahead past Jose in the Fezza, but looking back i could pretty much see everyone. I dont have all cars visible in game, I have it set around 16 though thought it would split the visible cars evenly.

About visible cars set: this has been bugging me for some time now. If you, say, set it to 16 - does it mean you see up to 16 cars on screen (if they're around you) or does it mean the game will only load 16 of, say, 28 cars that are present on the server and all other cars will be invisible to you, possibly a cause of a mega crash?

Post by: picnic on February 11, 2009, 12:45:27 PM +0000
I think you will see all the 28 cars if they drove passed you one at a time, the closest ones in view at any time.

If you join a session while cars are on track they cannot see you until they come back in to the garage, you can see them but you are invisible to them during that twilight period.

Mostly calm race for me at the back end of the field, decided to try hard slicks to see if I could pass some people towards the end
sort of worked, I seemed able to hold speed while others were struggling, but it happened too late to be much use.
Funny thing, during qual I had no cars within sight, yet I could hear a car's engine for one lap, thought maybe it was
some weird echo of mine, but it came closer and dropped back at times. So, if I was holding someone up in Qual
| do apologise, but I couldn't see you!

Poor race, spun 3 times  :cursing:
Had a good fight in the last few laps with lazlow.
Almost lost it every time I went through Piratella and Acque Minerale, had to drive right on the limit to keep him behind
:fencing:
But at least this time I didn’t cause a pile-up on the first lap   :whistling:

Imola..... a track designed by the Devil himself.  I hate this track.  I am crap at this track, and I hate this track damn track!.   :taz:

The MC12 felt like a bus on shopping trolley wheels. It was truly awful. I really like driving the MC12 and have always had fun in it, but yesterday was torture, no fun at all, but I was determined to finish..... and I did.

After 45 mins of wrestling the car around the track, more than a few tank slappers, spins, trips onto the grass, and multiple occasions of out braking myself....I crossed the line in a blaze of colourful language and pure hatred for a track sent up from hell to test me.   :cursing:

I will not be taking part in the enduro....thats for damn sure!!

H@l said yesterday that this track is all about technique, and he's right, it is.  If anyone finds my technique, I'd like it back please  ::)  ;D

...other than that, it was a great race  ;D

See ya at the next one

Good race for the most part, was careful in first 2-3 laps as i didnt have any idea what grip levels i was gonna get..first race in the lister round there since  ???... Anyhow, kept H@L in my sights from the off..and Gazzer was never far behind..kept making small errors everytime i got close enough to think about trying a pass, then eventually a small mistake on H@L`s part was enough just after 1/2 distance, but could never get away..seemed much slower through chicane at top of hill..so run down to first chicane was interestin on a few occasions  ;D..then couldnt shake him off at all for last 2-3 laps..was all over me everywhere..so really went for it..final lap 2nd chicane..went horribly wrong..Saw 2 550`s ahead..one was on grass..so i went right asap..unfortunatly Evett beat me to it..had a LF puncture an no chance of podium...realised i might be able to hang onto 4th..but kinda stopped dead in last chicane with damage, an got run into by TT...so could have been better..but im happy...

Evett..no ones fault just racing..(the bad side )

TT...still think you was wrong to hold back after runnin into me..was exceptional circumstances, i was damaged..didnt expect it`d slow down as much as that either  :P..i only carried on as i realised i could still get some decent pts..didnt expect to hold you off in the first place  ;)

Grats to Busi, H@l and Gaz for the podiums, and hard luck RR  :-\

I just noticed - That JonB 1970 guy....18 seconds off the pace in Q? Was there a problem or was that his real pace? If you're reading Jon - practise and get comfortable with the car before racing, it's a lot more fun as you'll get involved with battles with other cars. That far off the pace is just hazardous to you and other drivers, and it can't be fun running around by yourself.

Okay here's one for you FreQ !
-What can I do to drive as fast as you do in the Lister  ???
I mean the way you drove at Spa last Sunday IN RAIN in that car ... Christ... I Know I will get a warning buy cursing but you are bloody fast in the Lister !!!
Can I come and visit you for a weekend and be pointed to some of the secrets or do I have to kill someone? Please, Please... Pretty Please, (with sugar on the top), let me in on the secrets I'll need to know. I had a nightmare for the first time in a long time after Sundays race at Spa. (might be I lack confidence/skill to drive in rain or something  :o ) It's a serious question! Send me a PM or just give some hints on how to drive the "LISTER"   ;)

The Imola race "for me" was quite good, a few battles in the middle of the race and the quick overtake by Lazlow in the middle of the race was a wake up call. I managed to overtake lazlow on the last lap. I qualied 8'th and ended the race in 8'th, SO I'm pleased. Grats to Podium winners and to the rest of the drivers at Imola. I can only affirm what RR and H@L said earlier, the track is made by a devillish person how needs help .  :nuke: :censored:

Here is a tip for the Lister Jorgen, use a higher gear and low revs at corner exit. That car has enormous torque which can catch you out, so make the gearing so that you exit corners at low revs and so you can throttle early and by the time you're ina  straight line the power is max.

Okay.. will try that.  :thumbup1:
I'm quite satisfied with my times on Brno with Lister (1.52-53 for Quali and 1.53-54 for Race) but on some of the tracks "Like Spa & Imola" I seem to have hit a wall in my progress/advancement  :-\
Okay conditions where wet in the beginning at Spa and I just suck at driving in wet/rainy conditions (really need to practice in the wet) So after I have suffered 2 punctures I just called it a night and hung my helmet up and went for "Anger management"  >:(  I usually feel quite comfy at Spa in the dry but to drive 2.06.9xx like FreQ...  :o  I need to see If I can shave some time off in adjusting my gearing? But it is most likely a combo of my driving and gearing, time will tell
