Good spot Bill, glad to see someone carried on past the dreaded Monaco word ;)

I'll admit to being a little selfish here. I've never raced here in GTL and its one of my faves. Should suit the ickle monsters I hope.

Monaco was the first time I raced with UKGTL (season 3 I think)..

Nice!  ;D

I've only ever raced at Monaco back in about '92, playing Micro-prose Gran Prix on my Atari ST. Those were the days  ;D

If that's a selfish selection... then you need to be more selfish in future, nice one Ian  8)

I remember this track with infamy, I've squeezed a 1.57.9 in the Elite, a nice nimble little car.

Its running Mid-Ohio (perhaps you haven't installed it yet) but I've now added Monaco to cycle.

Couldn't have had more fun spinning a few laps with SBG & Matt last night. Absolutely top notch fun! & what about the scenery?! Awesome!

Here's a vid I found to give an idea of what to expect ;D http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zakyMz-DmIQ

Indeed Legzy, was a hoot.
so far:
2:00.4 in Elite
2:00.6 in Fiat
2:00.8 in Jag

Pretty close. Jag time is about as quick as I can get it, the others will go a bit quicker with more praccy.

More practice/fun last night here with Lazlow/Blunder/Matt. It's just an inspired combo choice. Look out if you get stuck behind Blunder's Jag's fat rear end

Driving the Jag round here compared to the Elite is like driving an open topped double decker bus, I'm a couple of seconds slower in it but find it more satisfying when it all goes right.  Will leave car choice to the last minute...

Legzy, Blunder, Lazlow.

I am trying to figure why the conn was so bad last night at Spa for me, I saw a little warping occasionally, mostly
it was fine. Yet I was apparently warping quite badly at times. The conn I was on was only lightly used
later when we were mucking around at Monaco. Was I warping at Monaco?
Ta
Matt.

Yeah I got caught up in your warping at Spa, (wasn't going to mention it as I put it down as just one of those things that could happen to anyone, but as you're asking) both me & the car between us went off the track taking evasive action to avoid you fairly early in the race. So I saw what that was like.
By comparison, when we were at Monaco your warping was minimal/occasional from what I remember.

Cancellation of some racing elsewhere meant I could do some practice tonight - struggled with the Jag and thought it was a bad way to relearn a track, bouncing off barriers, so tried the Elite.  Got down to 56.2.  I bunged the setup online in the Monaco79 folder as SHElite, it seemed good to me!

Really struggled at the weekend to get close to learning Mid ohio so its a bit of a relief to get back into the racing rhythm, praise be to nice slow cars that are pretty easy to catch and correct.  :)  Certainly pleasing when you start to get the drifts nicely through the ridiculously tight corners.

Steve, you are quick with Elite, but it doesn´t seem to like my command. 1:59. and trying to lose the rear end, I can´t drive the corners drifting so will most probably stick to Abarth.

I'm expecting a new PC and if I can set it on time I'll join for a spin. I'm only 4 seconds per lap slower than Steve so it should be one of the better days for me.  ;D

just did a few laps to look see...

1:58.0 in the Elite, though several times i was -1.0 at first sector only to blow it later on, so got a 57.0 in me.
1:59.5 in the Jag Mk2.  Morse does Monaco  ;D ..its like driving a bleedin' bus
1:58.2 in the Abarth with a mid 57 possible.

Grr you pesky Lotussessss! Taking up all my braking and turn-in room on the track! The Jag is so bad I need all the track to turn ;)
Got caught out with Legzy diving to the inside, then i think you seem to lose it which I couldnt miss and spun around. No choice but to quit out as it was in a nightmare position.

Hadnt touched GTL since the last round of L6 at Le mans and was good to get back on it.
Got passed SBG at the end of the first lap i think and was following Matt then clipped the barrier and spun ,Steve just about missed me and i had to slowly reverse and ended up ninth.
Had some great battles chasing back up the order then went to pressed my tab key and hit Esc.. DOH!!

grats to podium.

Cheers

I was gutted. We'd already traded positions four times in the previous lap, me under breaking & in the corners, you on the straights. I was hoping it would last the distance. I actually wasn't trying to take you on the inside on this occasion... which is a shame because if I had I wouldn't have knocked your back-end as you were on the turn... which just swung your car round like it was a hand on a watch.  Then we were nose to nose & I stayed off the power so you could spin round which you started... but then I couldn't see you & I sat there waiting for you to come past.... about 5 cars later I realised you must have Esc'd back to the pits & so I set off again. Sorry. Gutted.

Karma was served nine laps later. I no longer had a big bus  ;) holding me up where my Lotus was quick & my times came right down, overtook a good few people, made a few mistakes where I'd nudge a barrier here & there but was enjoying it. Set a PB on lap nine. Was flying on lap ten but had to avoid a crashing Tibs so lost a bit. Was again flying on lap eleven & was ahead on time when W/Tony was parked in the middle of the track right after the fast chicane (after the tunnel) & sadly I had nowhere to go. The combination of contact with Tony then the wall was the end of my suspension/race. Gutted again. :'(

Loved racing on this track & with the slowest/easiest cars like tonight, I think it really works.  8)

Role on the new season, see you all in the U.S. of A.

Note - No worries Tony, can/does happen to any of us.

So sorry for that Legzy. I had just had a massive a over t type accident and was left pointing the wrong way. Saw you approaching FAST and didn't know whether to move or stay. I stayed. Wrong choice. But amazingly I was able to continue and crawled home last.
This circuit was just too good for me and after 19 laps and a head cold I feel it.
Well done Dynosaur, great result matey.
Roll on next week.

Big fun.
A smattering of "what if" what if I hadn't been tapped into a spin, what if I'd taken more coast diff and spun myself less
:-0 But great fun dicing mostly with MJ and then Ade who nipped by as I mde one of many errors
Don't remember hitting anyone, good times were had.
Ta arrangers, top choice.

Results, done much quicker when I get a result ;), and replay in normal spot.

Must say standards were far better than last week, rust well and truly shaken off, and those getting lapped, including outlaps in quali, behaved impeccably. Really looking forward to start of S7 now :)

That was a fantastic race last night. I would rate it amongst the top 5 GTL races ive ever had for pure racing action and effort required !  :o

There literally was no respite for the entire 40 minutes and i finished shattered and soaked in sweat ! Great fun.  8)

Qualied in 6th despite a mid 57 qual time  :o and got jumped at the start by at least 3 of those pesky Abarths which seemed to have way more grunt off the line and up the hill, relegating me very quickly to 9th  :(
Then it was pure action all the way as i enjoyed countless battles with the top 4-8 swapping places constantly. Three notably excellent battles were with Matt Rowe, Ade and Steve  :fencing: Great driving by all in the tricky conditions with hardly any contact considering the close quarters barriers and fighting  :euro:  I did hit Matt once but that was when he bounced off the barrier and went sideways in front of me and i had no way of stopping in time, so apologies for that one.
Me and Steve were literally side by side in some of the tight corner complexes  :o but i lost out to his grunt up the hill and through the tunnel each time...i assume he used the lowest final drive ratio ? as mine was sluggish at those two places.

The top 5 pace was amazing throughout. 8) Finished 5th  :)

The elites and Abarths steaming through the harbour front looked great ....but before you think ive been converted back to GTL, you should try the Abarths in P&G ...awesome!  :tt1:

Thanks for the clean race all! Especially at the rush hour in qual, when some of you "Elite" forces got out of the way when I was on a lying lap! Thanks! People actually look in the mirrors here.

Grats for Madd-RIP, nice win! Great track/car combination. Enjoyed this event very much. More, please....  ;D

Hehe, there was one point where MJ had got a run on Matt up the hill and was passing on the outside, and I'd had a run on both of them and I'd got my nose outside MJ in the kinks before Casino and we were briefly 3 abreast...that's surely impossible at Monaco!

Dunno about out-accelerating you MJ, I noticed that too, but I was running middle gearing like you, I had upped the power diff to 40 to get better traction, perhaps that?  Or is your G25 not producing 100%?

Still, was pretty frustrated to be off my pace of the previous night and just not able to drift the car like I had been, sluggish reactions meant I simply couldn't apply the finest control and was having to steer the car round rather than slide it.  And what a muddle I caused with a useless spin exiting the swimming pool, sorry to everyone caught up in my sideways car.

I'd be a rubbish racing driver..."Sorry boss, don't think I'll be too fast today, tired...slept badly" "Oh okay then, you're FIRED!"  :D

Bit sick of real life stress impinging on my simracing, after all, what's more important, certainly not real life.  :P

Snap Steve.  Wednesday I got wound up and finished 4 secs faster  ;D - confident on braking and acceleration hardly an error only slight side on kisses with a barrier.  8)  Last night I was crap - turning in too fast/early/late  ::) (I don't know couldn't sort it  ???) and had snap oversteer and a slide/spin into the barrier.  :cursing: As someone remarked an early bath.

That was a great race. Got punted and turned around a couple of times on the first lap (sorry to the two elites who were all ready in the run off at the hairpin as i  punted a jag from behind  into them when he turned in front and slowed suddenly :'()  and a few mistakes myself then got in the swing starting catching up the people in front having a good go then after about 10 lap i spun at the hairpin at the end of the bay going on to the start/finish and i had seen madds lollipop and couple of times behind me and i was right across the road so i quit out because by the time i had do a 3 point turn the leaders would have been flying in :o but it was good fun.
Cheers admins for a great car/track combo

Great fun that :)

Good fight with Dan to begin with, well I tried to hold him up anyways, but he put the bravest of passes on me to get by. Very nice. He was really sliding the Girly Elite and I see what you mean Steve, very brave on the night. Then I made a few slips, a few got by and then they made a few slips and I got by  :). Got back to second but then I made another error on penultimate lap and Dyno got by, again  ;D, for a deserved second in the might Abarth. Real intense racing but heaps of fun.

To be honest, having done hundreds of laps in excellent NK version, I'm not that impressed by that version of Monaco. However, accuracy isn't everything for me and lets hope we get that much fun in S7.

Got to thank the brave souls who took the Jag. Think we shall have to do a rematch on a faster track when those same gents, and only them, can use its "mighty" straight line speed to their advantage

 :) :)

Was looking forward to some close battles between myself, Ian,Steve and Dan and in the opening laps there was, slipped a pb in quali running car virtually empty and lowest gearing.

Made a pretty good start and just hoped I wasn't going to be outdragged by the Abarth of Ian to St. Devote, luckily I wasn't and then just went for it, With everyone squabbling behind I got a little gap going but then my Team boss was pegging me for times for a while until he spun at the swimming pool chicane, after that it was a bit lonely as I could just keep plugging times in, but did chuckle seeing how close some of the name tags were to each other, 'someone,I thought, is having a very busy race!'  :D

I thought it was a good combination of cars and track, although the Jag could have been omitted as it just cannot turn!

Roll on S7!

Grats to 2nd and third and to everyone who finished.  :thumbup2:

That was great fun. Not one of my favourite tracks but sliding around in the Abarth was brill.

I got a poor start & lost a few spots but with a few others having moments in the early laps I think I just managed to get in the top 6. I was chasing the battle of MattR & MarkJ but every time I got close I made a silly error & lost ground. Eventually had a spin exiting the last turn & had to wait while 2 or 3 others went past & finished 8th.

Curious thing in qually, I recorded my best lap (1.57.0) about 1s before the session ended which would have put me 5th on the grid, as the results show. But I actually started 8th which is where my next best time put me. Bug I guess.

Congrats to the podium.

Can't make the Monday P&G races at the moment, so cya all next Thursday.
