Yes, it really is Monza Junior. Think Enna but shorter. ;D My records suggest that we've never actually used it for GTR2, and you know what they say, waste not, want not...

Hopefully I'll get the car pack out by or before very late Saturday so that folks can download it Sunday morning.

Gentle reminder Gizmo as discussed from earlier this season, any chance of including the 996 RSR for GT2 in the mid season pack, little or no work needed I understand (360 features in both GTC and GT2)  :)

Or the Marcos  :o

Car choice poll added - it would be really very good if people could take cars with visual equivalents in another class. For example, I'm taking the DBRS9, so it would be good if somebody could take the TeamUKGTR DBR9.

I think you're missing the point, TT - the Marcos is just there Marcos, there aren't two versions with the same visual model but different physics... ;)

I'll take F430 GT2 then.

Hi Burtoner, may I suggest you try out the GT1 Aston Martin DBR9. It's one of the easier to drive GT1's & sounds like it might help out Dave. :)

This race delayed by 2 days to the Tuesday owing to server problems. Happily that gives us the best part of a week's grace period should we find any problems with the new car pack. :)

(2) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
What would the symptoms of this be? Could someone not having ISDN set, be causing the qually drop outs? I've just not seen it mentioned as a possibility IIRC.

In essence the bandwidth used between that client and the server is lower when ISDN is selected which reduces the bandwidth consumption overall. If the server starts to struggle for network bandwidth everyone suffers, and the GTL/GTR multiplayer engine appears to be very sensitive to network problems - but it would be equally so in the race so it's unlikely to be related to our current problems.

I'm expecting to be there.

are any of you nifty painter types able to knock us up a Legends skin pronto? Either porting our current 996cup skin onto it or even creating a fairly base paint scheme version in our colours..ie pale blue with Orange racing stripe, orange splitters ? [begging mode off]

Im sure even our adversaries would rather see our identifiable colours on the track than a stock skin.
I normally recognise MJ's car as the one dissapearing behind me  ;)

I'm chuffed Spanner has done this for you, I'd of had a go myself (now I've just read your request) but I couldn't have done it nearly as fast as him!!! :o

I might not make this, as I'm off to Millbrook for a dealership day on GT-R, 370Z and.....Pixo ???

If I do make it back, I want to use something silly, like the Marcos. Can we do a second, 3 lap race where we have to reverse the whole way? ;D

Okay, the announcement has now been updated.

Basically, because we still had problems with CTDs last night, I want to do a race with the current car pack, but using the GT3 cars, since there are no add-on GT3s. This should help us to understand whether the cars themselves are at fault, or the skins.

This will be a non-championship race, so the results will remain in the system in perpetuity; and since we aren't likely to race at Monza Junior again, tomorrow night's race will establish a lap record there. :D

Naturally I'll be taking the 350Z. ;)

Grammar! :P

There was a small rash of CTDs in qually and I believe a few just before the end of practice too. It did seem better than normal although it wasn't a full grid, and the Sunday nights are usually slightly better.

Not really sure how this helps us really  ??? If we arent using the new add-on cars nor their skins how does racing GT3's resolve anything in that we havent even used them yet and therefore they have nothing to do with the ctds ?

Disclaimer:- But i am prone to confusion on occasion  ;)

The Viper CC then...

Not really sure how this helps us really  ??? If we arent using the new add-on cars nor their skins how does racing GT3's resolve anything in that we havent even used them yet and therefore they have nothing to do with the ctds ?

They have skins prepared the same way and to the same standards as the add-on cars but without the add-on nature. Last Tuesday we tried bog standard unskinned cars in a standard class, so this week we're trying standard but skinned cars in a non-standard class. If we don't eliminate the basics we could spend weeks chasing problems in the wrong place.

Dave is just applying a standard engineering method for diagnosing a problem - change 1 thing at a time until the problem stops. Very sensible  :)

Almost certainly not, as most of the skins haven't changed and I'm 99.9% sure missing skins don't do any harm (other than aesthetically  ;) ).

Sorry to Prof for accidently brake checking him in the chicane - I still haven't quite reprogrammed my brain to remember that the middle pedal is now teamspeak and the left pedal is now the brake. :-[

Sorry to JPS and Dave G, I think you may have caught my spin.

It was bound to happen sooner or later - in fact I'm amazed we had so many cars make it to the end!

I put a nice big dent in the back of JPS's Porka - but then finished him off a few laps later when he and a Viper (Smokey? Spanner?) held each other up coming onto the back straight and I took both of them, but must've clipped JPS or squeezed him into the VCC because he ended up face planting the barriers on the right. :-[ Mea culpa!

So... CTDs? There was a big rash of cars leaving near the end of qually, what was that about?

Sound familiar Legz? is what I had, and someone else a week or two ago as well.
You weren't in pre race prac so the server didn't already know you.
I had a good time, got a 51.1 in pre race, couldn't match in in real qual, so took 6th.
Messy first few, got passed by a couple, Jose went like the wind then fell off,
and after that we had some door handle stuff for several, he was a bit quicker
particularly in the chicane, but I would mess up, then he would etc.
neither blocked, was cool.

I quit twice, once in practice cos I forgot to select the Team Shark skin  :-[ and then I had an issue I've never seen before in Qual. The other cars all disappeared while I was out on track but I was still getting chat messages. Dave and Freq told me I was stuck in the chicane at the time. Back in the garage I could select other cars on the track but they were all stalled for me but the timer was changing reflecting thier lap time I assume.

So I quit and rejoined. Nothing else strange to report other than an unusually high finishing position  ;D

No problem Dave - just managed to squeeze past and then took Lazlow out at the end of the straight meaning I was last once I had waited for him. Sorry again Lazlow.

I left towards the end to answer the phone - quit entirely by my own choice. I would have been in the top ten in qually otherwise.

Had a CTD at the start of qualifying.
Good race, had a couple of spins when I changed down to 1st by mistake  ::)

Didn’t have any CTDs before I installed PnG. Had 2 CTDs in the 3 events I’ve done since.
Probably just is coincidence but thought I might mention it.  ???

That was fun.

Literally just did 15 mins offline praccy before the race so was chuffed with 3rd on the grid.  Followed Jose for a bit until he was slow out of final chicane and got passed. Started trading lap times with Freq but could never quite get close. Was fun watching him slide his car round corners.  Did the last lap and a half at about 10mph as i got the fuel wrong but had enough gap to get 2nd.

No ctd's for me but i did lose connection at end of practise, i knew something was up when the other cars looked like they were going sideways round the corners and not turning.

Lol ! Morning guys,

No CTD's for me but I have never had one! ever, ever!
Had to rebuild my machine from scratch a month or so back so may be that cleaned my registry etc. !?
and all previous installs.

Felt like a ballerina last night!  ;D Loaded up a previous Linus set up for the Elise and was flying!
Unfortunately it is very switchy and very sensitive to brake bias with fuel load as far as I could tell?
Anyway thats my excuse for about 4 360's with 2 and half twist, triple sulko styly!?

I think I bumped a few people but nothing major ( I hope ! )
It was a fun race so modified my approach slightly!

Ended up having lots of mini battles with Lazlow at the back!
Excellent fun! 3-3 was it buddy!? Shall we call it a draw!?  ;D

Wow, that was fun!

M.

I had an interesting race. No CTD for me but I have also never had one so good news there.

Having not driven GTR since the last G3 race it all felt a little weird. I thought I would be ok but upon driving out of the pits for the first time, I spun 180 degrees. Where has all the grip gone?? :):) Then taking to the track I found even less grip. Took me a few laps to get back into it but it finally clicked. Managed to qualify 14th so not that bad. Race time and everything was going well. In fact I was flying. Had a great battle with JPS in his Porka. I could pull up right to his bumper into the braking zones and through the corners but down the straights he would pull away. Really great fun. I managed to work my way up to 8th and decided to pit for fuel and tyres. This was my first mistake. I soon realised that nobody else was going to pit. Then, I forgot what keys I had set to restart the engine. Once I finally managed it, I came out from 8th to 4 laps down. So I just set out to try and make some places up and finally finished 12th.

Really enjoyed it and no problems for me with CTD.

No CTD.  :)
As UKGTR's favourite CTD'r, did you do anything different? (i.e remove a program)

Lol, I only installed Steam. ;)  Unintentionaly 'cause of ETW, but anyways.  ::)

CTD in Vanilla Race at Donington in P1.
No CTD in U9UE Road America.
No CTD in GT3 race at Monza Junior.

Didn't change any settings. 1440x900 32bit, 1 MB video RAM, 2 GB system RAM; shadows on medium, ISDN conn selected.
I have no problems at R2P where they use Vanilla cars.
Will see today if there will be any problems at 24/7 server where FIA 2006 mod (and other mods) will be used.

TT

No ctd's for me.
I left Quali of my own accord last night because I wanted to see if I could rejoin the race, because Legzy was having problems login in.

Chicane of Doom got me as well. Was close to Steve but was never able to pass, lol. Good ol' Vert, outdragged by everything and everybody on every straight piece of track.  :D

TT

Yeah, can't pretend I didn't have a car advantage on the straightline there TT.  But then I suffered the same vs Pete's Viper (but nice one to keep it tidy with worn tires  :)).  Probably one of the best GTR races I've driven, made a lot of minor errors particularly towards the end when I got tired, but nothing major, kept it on the black.

No connection problems at all, 1600x1200 32-bit, everything mostly maxed, medium shadows, ISDN connection, clean GTR2 install + UKGTR packs.  I do have P&G in another install.

No worries Gizmo, thats more or less what happened :) lost a rear wing in the process which ended my race.

NSFast I managed to see you get a bit leary into that chicane and managed to bleed some extra speed which allowed me to avoid you..no harm done :)

Good fun...
No issues or CTD technical matters to report to the engineers.
