O contra. If we stay close, which we should, get ready for some nice slipstreaming action into T1. I'm not a big fan of FWD but the mini is hard to beat for close quarter stuff :)

Sigh, ever the optimist "some nice slipstreaming action into T1"
hardly NASCAR at Talladega!  "Listen to the thunder of the enormously powerfull err, cough "minis"
hurtling.. err rolling down the straight"
I do agree though could be a hoot.

Don't know if I'll make this one.  Collecting first of weekend vistors from Swindon.  Luckily it's one of my wife's sisters who will probably want to watch the soaps so if I pay for lunch in Swindon as well as driving I might be OK if I'm not too knackered.

Here's hoping, at least I've raced Minis here recently.

For this event, we will be increasing available grid spots to 28. If we fill that and experience any issues then we will revert it to 26 immediately on the night.

Gonna miss this too, got my brother coming up which means I'll be drunk as a skunk by 8 pm...perhaps best not to race......

Never mind, secretly relieved, for me the Mini and Dijon have never been a happy combination, just can't get it right with this car, and testing on Sunday I couldn't even match my PB from the very early days of GTL when I was still learning it.  Oh dear.

Have a good one.

Will hopefully see some of you guys online about 10pm tonight to perfect this 'mini drafting' out, down Dijon's straight. 8) ;D

Apart from being told that "you really suck at that game Dad" by my 13 year old son last night there seems to be massive leeway on where you can drive on this circuit and not get a cut track warning.  What is the ruling here, is it 2 wheels minimum on the track (between white lines) 2 wheels on rumble strips or down to the drivers conscience?  Certainly the left hander leading to the "loop" section offers a major opportunity to make up time if liberties are taken with no automatic penalty.  Any guidance?

Hey Bill, was just chatting with Blunder. It's probably to late now for you to see this as you might be on the road already, but if you're still coming to Swindon today... we'd pop out of work to have a lunchtime pint/coke with you buddy, if you fancy it? PM me your mobile number if you can squeeze us in  :D

I too would be well up for a 2nd P&G test race after GTL tonight, but I will have to stop by 10:30pm. So an earlier start would be all I could join in with. The Dijon race will finish at 9:20pm, so if we had a 15-20 minute break, then qually at 9:45pm maybe? Followed by 30 min race?

Honestly, i believe we must stuck with the guys in real races do. No tires, everybody can drive through.
If everybody be allowed to cut that corner? (it is more a fast left than a corner to me).
Everyone will be happy, cut or don't cut that fast left it will be as the need for the momentum of race. IMHO.

Under normal circumstances the simulation's internal cut detection will be relied upon to police the cutting of chicanes and other corners.
Drivers are strongly discouraged from the deliberate placing of one or more wheels on areas of grass, gravel and sand.
Clear and deliberate cutting which evades detection by the simulation may still result in a penalty.
A driver who gains an advantage through a cut must yield the advantage back to any affected car(s).
An advantage may include taking a place directly, setting up a pass, or avoiding losing a place.
Persistent or deliberate 'railriding' is strictly forbidden.
These rules apply in all sessions, including qualifying, even when not on a flying lap.

Ta Alex. Those rules give us lot a degree of responsibility, and we are old enough and ugly enough to act accordingly.

I agree and respect the rules, however, there are some situations that i don't agree, albeight respecting them.  :P

What a pleasent race.
Awesome fights, first with Ade for 6 laps, couldn't stay with him tho.
Then, another epic battle with SBG, excellent several swaping positions.  :D
Ross joined us meantime to put more spicy on the race, with some luck,
i got 2 seconds gap from both, but last 3 laps were frightning and hard trying
to keep 9th place from the fast Dynosaur's driving.
Fantastic stuff guys, thanks all.  ;)
Congrats for your win Mr_oily and to podium finishers.
Well done to all.

Cheers

Another brillant race helped by the outstanding driving by all present. Qualifying went alright, managing 6th on the grid. A good start followed and I was up the 3rd by the first corner battling for the lead for a short while, until Baracus broke away from the pack. The rest of the race was brilliant fun, I was battling with Mike, Mr Oily, Baracus and a particullaly special battle with Geoffers which lasted at least half the race. There were a few knocks and scrapes around the place but everyone was driving cleanly and I had no major incidents to report.

I think I may have burned out my tyres too quickly and was paying the price with about 6 laps to go. I was powerless to respond to Geoffers and Baracus, recovering from an earlier incident, overtaking me and leaving me for dust. The race was over far too quickly in my eyes; I was simply having too much fun  ;D but 4th is a okay result. Bring on Le-mans next time round!

Yeah that was great fun - thanks for the an excellent race Sbg.

Apologies to Diki Waza for nudging you into a near spin on the first corner as everything squeezed in - completely my fault.  Really sorry about that and well done for gathering it back up so quickly.

...actually, and a second apology Diki for another nudge later on near the end of that lap.  It really wasn't the tidiest first lap I've managed, I'm afraid - really sorry.

Cheers, Ross.

I really enjoyed the race this evening.  Haven't had the opportunity to watch those up the front but I'd like to thank all the guys at the back for their considerate driving.  I think that, other than Sandor at one time, they all coped extremely well with my early braking.  If I caused any problems please accept my apology but as I do not use pedals I have to brake a bit earlier or fly off the track. Until the last couple of laps when the Mini started to understeer quite a lot (tyres I guess) there were 5 or 6 of us battling away through out the race, thanks for that guys - I even managed to set a new race PB.

Congratulations to the podium (look forward to watching you tomorrow) and thanks to everyone there and of course Ian for organising it - well done 'me ansum'.

Not sure if I'll be at Le Mans as I have a real struggle to keep the quicker cars on the road and I figure the BMW will be totally outclassed.  Still I will put some practice in and see how it goes.

I got bogged down at the start and lost a few places, took it easy for the first few laps as I was expecting carnage, did get tapped a couple of times but hey it's racing.

I worked my way up to about 13/14th and around half distance I then went wide at the last corner and just caught the gravel sending me straight into the opposite wall  >:( Grrrrr!!!

After that it was trying to gain a few places, lots of fun racing with Tinman, teamie Alex and Mike Cook. I managed to pass Mike but I went wide and passed me, I couldn't get close enough to outdrag him on the last couple of laps.

I always love racing those little minis!!!!  ;D

I'm guessing that would be me. Sorry. I found the Mini a bit of a handfull and hadn't done any practising with other traffic. The understeer and behavior under braking were a constant source of grief.
Note to self - must do better.

Fun race with swarmes of Prodigy, GDC mini's and one Team Oldie.
Had much drafting on the straights and who's gonna break later games at the end of the straight.
Never have battles so much for 19th position!
Hope we can have this kind of races in the future (single make, familiar track, easy cars), I think we never have had such a close field in the past. Almost all the field finished in the lead lap!

Not sure if I'll be at Le Mans as I have a real struggle to keep the quicker cars on the road and I figure the BMW will be totally outclassed.  Still I will put some practice in and see how it goes.

I drove the Gt40 last time. Quite underpowered in the hands of a average driver... and managed to finish 14th.
It's an endurance race  ;)

Again, I really can't understand some responses to reported incidents. Nothings been decided but already people are up in arms ??? If you feel that a report is unfair just state why, it really is that simple. Rants, that simply make the moderators even more tricky than necessary, really aren't warrented. You know you will get a fair hearing and appeal if necessary.

Its also worth remembering why incidents are looked into. No one is accusing you of being a wrecker or a bad driver. The purpose, as I understand it, is too educate not only those involved but all of us so why the prickly responses? Far too touchy.

Rant over :)
