Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7).
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.7.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#msg54518).

Some ideas for this  :)

1. We race as a four men team. One Abarth per team and first Abarth to 15 laps is winner. Other three members of team must defend own Abarth or attack others. Haven't though it through but its my fave.

2. We do an Oval race (doesn't have to be here necessarily but this Oval is actually quite good).

3. We do as last time. One "proper" race and final "last man standing" race where normal rules are waived.

I'm totally behind option 1, four man team protecting the Abarth  :punk:

(Though if you're open to changing the track, the top gear figure of eight is much longer would be very interesting too.)

I'd prefer one race on the oval (with absolutley no contact allowed  ;))

then finish the evening of with a Demo derby figure 8 Kill Legzy kinda thing

Gets my vote too. Would it be a load of hassle to have two races with a restart of the server in between them Ian? We did two races last time we were here but they were both figure eight.

That sounds a lot of fun!  :o

But it might be a bit of a nightmare to organise on the night! Are we allowed to have decoy Abarths to confuse the enemy? ::)

I would prefer to give the figure of 8 a whirl, but the oval is fine as long as it is banger racing, not boring NASCAR!  ;)

Straw Pole says Oval race followed by "last man standing" so we will go with that. Oval race will be under normal rules but there will be no rules for "last man standing" race. That said, in the spirit of things, driving in the wrong direction will be deemed naughty and will not be allowed in either race.

Will it be the Raliegh Park oval or another?

I realise its only a fun Oval race, but I (I don't get out much ;)) will be interested to how it goes. I have tried Indy Oval and I loved it for atmos alone :) Variety is the spice and all that.

Perfect time of day setting. SimRacing does Stockcar.

Just had a little look at the server and the only car choice is the Mustang and Falcon :(

In fact in 42 years i never saw one, live or on TV in Portugal.  ;D

Could some of them be Abarths and Minis undercovered? Just to intimidate my MKII?  :laugh:

My mate had a Reliant Regal van whilst he was at Uni.  He rolled it on the way home one weekend, the body was relatively unscathed but the roof was knackered so we cut it off and turned it into a convertible.  Was remarkable how good it looked, drove OKish apart from a little flexibility in the chassis due to the loss of rigidity.  Made a new windscreen out of perspex araldited it to the body was great.  Not good when it rained, he kept a sheet of plastic to cover it when it parked but we ended up drilling holes in the floor for it to drain.  Was a right laugh driving it around.  Passed its MOT as well in this state which shows how much more liberal they used to be.  Might have a photo of it at home somewhere, it was handpainted in a colour not a lot less bright than that used by the prodigy boys  8)

Just a reminder that first race is semi-serious and normal rules apply so just let the anger build for race 2 ;) And maybe the 76'ers could get a turn out in R3  :o

Bit disappointed with the large amount of corner cutting I saw in the fig 8 praccy tonight. I hope people don't think that just because this is a fun race they should take liberties.

SBG, having seen last night that the pit exit is blind, would it be worth making the figure of eight demo race a "one pit-stop is mandatory"? Twenty mins will be a long time for 90% of the cars to keep running, stopping for repairs could see more people get nearer to the end. It's also a laugh pulling straight out onto the track & seeing if you get walloped  ;D

p.s. I like the sound of a third race with GTC76's

Hahaha yes it was getting a tad embarrassing towards the end i must admit! Going sideways in the Falcon was like a drug, I couldn't stop no matter how much I may have been presenting myself to your various weapons of choice  :blink:

The few corners we managed side by side were awesome SBG but yeah...still a way off Tokyo Drift  ;D

Count me in for mandatory stops and a third race...not sure about GTC76's, will we last a lap lol!? Should be Falcons all round  ;D

Errr, not quite sure if you are referring to me or not! A few times I went wide off the exit of the turns, and cut across the grass at the X but it screws you up for the next turn.

But I wouldn't really describe it as a "cheat"  :)

So is tapping the rear of a drifting car in the first Oval race, like the green Prodigy boys were doing to my lovely Alfa all last night is....

a) downright naughty and will be punished....  :nono:
b) must be done discreetly  :whistling:
c) actively encouraged  ;D

While somewhere between options b) & c) for the figure of eight race (I believe), nobody wants their race over by lap one... unless it's a green car, you can take them out at will  ;D

I know I shall be camouflaged tonight by driving some standard 'non-skinned cars' to attract minimal attention from any bullies... now if I can just turn that name tag off  :-\

Race 1-Oval-Normal rules apply.
Race 2-Fig.8-No rules except no one can drive the wrong way-Demo Derby everyman for himself. I may shorten this race to 15 mins.
Race 3-if all are up for some fun ;)

I had an invisible Jag, Alfa and Mini last night Tim  ;D. Eventually the cloaking device wore off and my car became a laggy Alfa. Hopefully tonight my internet will have one of its better days. If I'm lagging too much again, anyone feel free to give me a shout and I will quit.

Don't think a lagging car will make that much of a difference on the fig8 unless you're an oldie in which case you'll be harder to hit

I'm having trouble with that as well. No-one can see my car. :(

We had this problem a couple of weeks a go when lobby was wonky  :'( Hopefully a restart of server will help you chaps out.

Oval race, started 18th (yeh i was in the MKII boat) and by half race i was in 8th,
with a lap in front of 9th...when....my wife started calling me crying because our litle
new 1 month of age white with blue eyes female kitty  :wub:  disapeared.  :scared:
Everybody worried and running seeking for her for 5 minutes, and she was sleeping
on top of my PC case.  :tt1: which is under the desk. Yikes. Damn woman..... :hammer:

Those races were epic fun. Thought I'd join the friendly Teamspeak channel this race, twas fun having a chat and listening to everyone although a tad cumbersome trying to hold ctrl and the mic while driving! The Oval race was good fun in the Alfa, despite only turning left. Don't know how the American's do it. Had to dodge people's spins and crashes, although I only got caught up in one  ;D. Managed to win the Oval, lapping everyone bar Simon. Perhaps I had taken the Oval race a little too seriously.

Never mind, onto the figure of 8 demolition derby and wow, that was great entertainment! I spent most of my time battling with Ginsters and the Robenator, although I'm sure I managed to crash into everyone at some point  ;D. Eventually the Italian warhorse lost a wheel so I was out before the first race finished. Thought I'd use a Yank Tank for the 2nd race - at least it allowed me to bulldose my way past most people as accurately demonstrated by this pic  :tank:

So the 2nd race involved more crashes and laughter. By about half race distance I was just trying to hit everyone  :angel:. I have no idea where I finished in those races, didn't really matter to be honest but I wouldn't mind seeing the lap chart  :laugh:. Shame that I couldn't take out Ginsters' indestructable TVR but we can't have it all  ;D. A great way to end the season I may add!

Don't think that was a great Oval to race on, as there only seemed to be one line. Higher banking would have been nice. I really enjoyed it in close proximity with others but it was dull on your own so I'm undecided on Ovals. Views?

The last man standing was as much fun as I hoped though :) Ideal way to end a season for me but I'm still 10 years old in me head. Thx all.

Results will be later than normal but, as I lost my Figure of 8 Championship, who cares ;)

p.s. what the hell does Robey eat for breakfast? The man is pure granite.

That was great fun and a really good way to mark the passing of season 7.

I'd quite like to try another oval race but perhaps on a grander scale? Somewhere like Daytona in V8's

Was a bit lucky in the first oval race, I managed to dodge a few accidents early on and got to 4th, but pushed too hard when Phil's mini passed me and lost a couple of spots at the end.

Then onto the highlight of the night  ;D

Dunno what happened at the start but got a SnG  >:( so headed to the pits, and then headed into the fray. Lots of bumps, spins, flips, swipes, nudges followed but my little Abarth was still going strong at the end  8)

Took the Elan for my last race, more mayhem followed, soon bent the steering struggling to keep it in a straight line, then a puncture, and finally the engine conked out.


It's down to technique, you just have to hit them in the weak spot  ;D

First oval race was cool madness until my engine gone.
Second oval was astonishing. For moments i was laughing so high that my wife, daughter
and even the cats came near me to see what was happening.  :w00t:
I took the litle, tiny Elite and i finished 3 laps in front of the second.....double lol....make it triple....
Last 10 laps was huge fun when two Prodigy's Shelby Mustang were working together to knock
me out.  :wetfish: and my litle buzzzz car dribling their engine beasts...... :sweatdrop:
i can remember one lap that were those two Shelbys and another red one and SBG's TVR and the
Alpine and the Shelby Cobra all trying to ram me off.  :tank:
So cool, really cool. A stressless race for all, for a change.

BTW, who is in charge of the race incidents reports? I have a few hundreds to make.  :lol:

I think you're trying to post a link to another forum where you previously linked them, that wont work. You need insert the link to where you uploaded the photos (i.e. I use 'dropshots.com' to host my pics)

As a further example, if I wanted to post a picture, what I'd type in would look like this:

(I deleted the "]" off the end so you could see what I type & not the picture)

Last night was fantastic btw people, really is great having these events at the end of a hard fought season - I'll spare you the race report as I didn't do much more than kill my tyres and ram people but I couldn't stop laughing for at least the first hour. Not sure about all that racing malarkey to begin with but once we got down to the main event I was having a blast  :2guns:

I think we should turn this thread into a best shunt screenshot competition....will post my fave(s) when home.

P.s - nice to have you on TS Sam although I didn't realise who the voice was until you were doing the off!

I'm probably nitpicking here, but I did win the race while Simon finished 2nd. The game disqualified me after everyone finished when I drove halfway round the Oval backwards. Shan't be doing such a daft next next time I can assure you!

1st Race
Qualified 2nd on the grid, but made a bad start & went down to 3rd/4th... got back up to 2nd but had my back end pushed round under braking (it's tough when we're all that close) & I was right back down to 13th! Picked my way through the field back to 3rd &...... lost network connection  :'( With literally less then half the race gone, I'm sure I could have pushed on to pressure Simon & Sam. Never done an oval before, was alright but would probably only want to do a heavily banked one in future. Worth a try  :).

2nd Race
Carnage. Dived in the pits for mass repairs on about lap ten as the Podgy ladies  had been going to town on me & my poor Mustang. That's not to mention the efforts of my own team 'mates', SBG, Phil & all.... Great fun guys & pleased to make it to the end.

3rd Race
An opportunity to take the Alpine was not going to be missed, it's born to slide round corners  8). I was by far the quickest as all the other wimps had picked heavily armoured cars. When it was realised I was leading, the shout went up on Team Speak to "get him" & lets just say I didn't survive to the end of that one  :o ;D

4th & 5th races
More of the same, lots of laughs & good fun had by the sad hard-core few that remained.

Conclusion
Team Oldie won & Prodigy lost :yes: (though Spanner looked great in our Black n yellow for a change ;)).

That would have been me who did that. Very sorry:( Though two corners later I spun down to 17th. Karma I guess:)
